Possibly it hangs for a bit before flashing. It does it on windows before it starts flashing. You only use BL, AP, CP, CSC. not home csc or userdata. If you make it past there after it reboots it will also look like update gets stuck at 32%. Let it sit and it will finish. Sorry I never used a Mac with Odin before.

I know even on Windows some versions of Odin acts funny. I have like 4 different versions of Odin and it seems like the one that worked before doesn't work a second time. Maybe if you can find another version and give it a try. Hopefully this may help

Bricked but can still get into download mode

I got into a boot loop and could not stop it. I put it into download mode and tried to odin but the computer won't see the phone. I don't know what else to try. I used odin to go back to stock one time when I had froyo.
Please help!
If you can get into download mode then you're not bricked. Try either a different driver or a different USB cord.
I was able to get into Odin once more. It showed pass and the phone reset but it got stuck at the Vibrant screen. Does this have anything to do with the bootloaders since I was on ICS using Gingerbread bootloaders?
Also, I notice that once Odin starts, the progress bar on the phone goes very fast and finishes in about 3 seconds and the phone reboots. Odin shows passed. This is when it just stays on the Vibrant screen.

It shouldn't since you can us GB bootloaders with Froyo ROMs. Did you follow N00B's guide and use the stock 512 PIT and JFD tar files provided? I've seen a 513 PIT file that didn't do anything for me, so I'd stick with the 512 version.

Give N00B (and me ) if that helps at all.

What files are you using? The flash should take a little over a 1 minute or so since you're applying an approximately 200 meg file (stock file) to your phone.
Grab both those files (.pit and .tar) from N00B's guide and try it.

Followed the NOOB guide to the T my man. I'm using the 512 file. I've checked the MD5 checksum of all three files. Now I can get started and see the progress bar on the phone but hangs every time. First a bright green screen and now a blue screen. Odin shows stuck on modem.bin process.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ or anything but I would double check that you pulled out the bootloader.md5.tar from the PDA and put in the correct files to get back to JFD. I agree with Kaiser that is should take 1+ mins to full flash. Bootloader flashes are more like the time frame that you are talking about.
I also think that you may have a bad download if you are applying the correct files. Try the AIO Toolbox in the Dev section. It have the drivers, Odin 1.8 (I think) and the proper Pit/Tar files for JFD. Also the very last post Adamanda posted an earlier version of Odin that you could try too.

Wouldn't hurt to grab the files from Wood's guide, and make sure to use the new version of Odin.
I'm guessing since you already done an odin flash before you already did this, but maybe try re-installing the correct Windows drivers for the Vibrant:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
One thing to note on the drivers (I had to at least) is that you may need to disable Digital Signature Verification in Windows. Get to the Windows Safe Mode Screen (while booting windows, keep pressing F8), then select Disable Digital Signature Verification. Windows can block the drivers otherwise.
Something else would be putting the PIT and TAR files in the same directory you have the Odin executable. Not sure if you still have to, but it was recommended way back when and I still do it to this day whenever I go back to stock.
A last ditch would be running Odin as an administrator, but you really shouldn't have to do that.
All the files have been verified and I click on the pit button and choose the pit file downloaded and then click on PDA and choose the appropiate 512 TAR file. I click start and get into the process. It just hangs at different points all the time. This last time it made it to factoryfs.rfs process and my phone got a blue screen. I'm gonna give a different version of Odin a try.
Kind of sucks but I have heard of this before. Only thing that I can recall is that the user just kept trying to get it to pass and he maybe did it 8 times before it got all the way through. His was like yours and it would hang on different parts in the process here and there. I'll see if I can find that thread and link it for you.

Should I try clicking the dump box, phone EFS clear box or phone bottloader box? Or will this erase my files?
Looks like you might have a bad download. Try to Toolbox I listed above. Much better than piece-mealing files together. Nice all-in-one package.
Here is that thread btw about being stuck at points in Odin.

NO!!! Don't clear your EFS. Will kill your ability to call or get/send data. Will lose your IMIE and you'll be forced to Odin anyways.

Odin/Download Mode doesn't use USB Debugging, only Mass Storage/MTP uses that.
Download the Toolbox and the .Net files (if you don't already have it-most PCs do nowdays). Install it, Open and hit Flash to Stock. It will open the included version of Odin, browse for the files it comes with re: the Pit and Tar/PDA files and hit Run like you do in regular everyday Odin.

This is a dumb suggestion, but just trying to get the simple stuff out of the way. You're unzipping the 512 pit and only selecting the .pit file for PIT part of Odin, right? I don't think Odin will let you select another file type anyway, but just checking... And the bigger .tar file that you'd get just stays as a .tar when you select it for PDA.
All 3 of those boxes for Odin should be checked (partition, reset, and whatever the other one is).
I've really only had Odin hang on me when I didn't have the drivers installed, when I needed to do the Digital Signature step, and when I was trying to use an older version so here's hoping a few retries work. Like I said earlier, for ****s and giggles run Odin as an Administrator too.

Yea I checked all that. I think the first time I used an unzipped file for the .tar. That's why it finished so quick. I was supposed to use the .tar file without unzipping. This is probably what f-ed everything up.
I'm still trying to bring it back to life. Still get into download mode but nothing else. Not even Vibrant screen anymore!
Ok. I've tried 3 different versions of Odin, downloaded both the pit and tar files several times, and tried with odin flashable roms like bionixfishmanmod and The process still hangs at factoryfs.rfs.
Does anyone have any other tricks to try? I'm all out of ideas.
And every time Odin hangs, The screen on my phone changes from the download screen to a full screen of a random color at which point I have to reset into download mode and start the process over again. I've gone through the process over 100 times now.
Did you install the device drivers and disable the digital signatures in Windows that I mentioned before?
You could also try other USB ports if you haven't.

I605 Bricked after rooting or flashing Solution for Casual Error

I had tried to root a friends I605 or Verizon Note II yesterday and about 3/4 of the way through Casual's one click method on the VramC3 4.1.2 version it failed. This left my phone in download mode and upon removal of battery and reinsertion, the phone just went into a boot loop. This is an error that is known to Casual and is being worked on, same error can occur if you use the wrong version on the wrong software version. This can just be resolved by flashing the pit only file the schI605-16gb.pit which you can find on this forum, in Odin. Just use Odin to flash this file alone in the PIT section not the pda or phone section. Your phone will boot and work correctly. If you discover you have the corret Casual package just retry the process, it worked for me the second time.
Thank you very much for your post. Much appreciated and know this will help out others. I'll add this to the FAQ board.
Where did casual fail for you and what error did you get?
i'll keep this thread saved just in case something goes wrong during my root

No problem guys, I know how frustrating it was for me to sit for hours trying to figure out what was wrong, not even being able to flash stock to it. It failed for me right as it was pushing files. I know it failed for several people in older versions, not VRAMC3, at the recovery flash portion of it. I finally took one piece of the alternate flash method, which was to flash both pit and stock firmware, but after that didn't work I instead just flashed the pit. Worked flawlessly.

SGH-i527 stuck in recovery

I've got a SGH-i527 that when I turn it on it goes into Odin mode with the yellow triangle saying there was a problem with the upgrade and to connect it to Kies. Kies 3 will not work with it, and if I open Kies 2 it says it's connecting forever.
If I hold down volume and home button and start it up, and try to use Odin3 with AutoReboot and F. Reset Time check and flash I527UCUAMK2_I527ATTAMK2_I527UCUAMK2_HOME.tar.md5 it errors out and the device has SW REV CHECK FAIL : Fused 4 > Binary 3.
Someone help me out here?

Ok, so I think I'm having issues because I don't have the right firmware.
From what I've been reading is that there isn't a firmware released for the i527 for AT&T correct? Or can someone point me in the direction for that ROM.

[Q] trying to install stock OS for my Samsung Galaxy Light

Hi, all! I'm having an issue with reformatting my girlfriend's SGH-T399. Hoping someone here can help.
Basically, her story is the phone tried to auto-update OTA and got stuck on "Upgrading apps (4/4)". Now, when rebooting, the phone is stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Light" logo screen.
The phone can boot into download mode, but can't boot into recovery (goes straight to download) which makes me think somehow the recovery partition was corrupted or some such issue. I've tried re-installing the stock firmware through Odin, but Odin always gets stuck on "Initializing", which is another problem I can't seem to find a fix for. I've also tried using Kies, but Kies always gets stuck at 0% when trying to upgrade the phone's firmware.
To be clear, I can get Odin and Kies to recognize the phone and start the formatting process, but neither progresses at all once the process actually begins. We'd be happy with getting stock firmware back, or with installing a custom rom such as LightWave, CM, anything. This is her only phone and we really need to get it up and running again. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi this happened on my device too. Pretty much the same thing except I have sgh t399n. To fix flash TWRP through Odin as you did the first time, here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934519351 and then flash any ROM. You could flash lightwave or CyanogenMod. If you had a backup use it. I downloaded someone else's backup but I can't find any backup for T-Mobile so just flash a ROM after flashing twrp.

Wait but Odin doesn't work completely or just doesn't work with TWRP. Do you have it as run as administrator. Right click the Odin file then click run as administrator and allow. If that doesn't work do you have the Samsung drivers? And last do you have windows or mac?

Odin has not worked for any package I've tried thus far. It always gets stuck on "Initializing". I am running as an administrator. As far as I know, all my samsung drivers are up to date. I'm running Windows 7 and both Windows and Odin recognize the device. I've tried this on 2 separate Win 7 pcs, so I don't believe the issue is with my setup but rather with the phone itself.

If he uses this he can be free to use this http://androidforums.com/threads/samsung-galaxy-light-sgh-t399n-stock-rom.923545/
Its .zip not .tar.md5 so its a little different but you still extract it but don't rename.

Weird error in ODIN while flashing

Hey maybe someone can give me a hand. Trying to flash back to stock on my Note 8 using the TMobil Firmware found [here](https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/collection-firmware-rom-file-galaxy-t3676943). I put AP into AP. BL into BL, CP in CP, and CSC into CSC. Theres no PIT file in there. Do I used HOME_CRC or do anything with USERDATA??? I tried flashing using simFAIL but it wasnt working at all. The error im getting is SW REV CHECK FAIL : [adl]Fused 2 > Binary 1

Read through the samfail thread at least 20 people had that same issue and got past it using a different variation of those steps listed in op. Also, don't forget to use search feature in the samfail op to look for others who have device mismatch errors and how they got it up and running.

See I think Im getting lost on what goes where in ODIN. The AP goes to AP, BL to BL, CP to CP and CRC to CRC. Correct? What do I do with the HOME_CRC and USERDATA_CCT? Anything?
And do I make the Files TAR or keep them as MD5? Becasue the ext are tar.md5

Leave them alone and only use csc not home csc or user data cct leave those alone.
Also use regular odin not prince odin

You can't flash those with .MD5 at the end. Delete those (.md5) first.
Just so you know. your issue is because you took the update and you are incrimented. You are currently trying to downgrade and you cant. You must install the incrimented firmware to get working again. This also means No root for you.

look around. why would instructions need to be posted? I have not released v2 root. and wont be released yet. You will have to deal with stock.

I was rooted with v1 and updated to BQJA because another method was found thanks to you, and i would just re-root. When i flashed the BQJA files, it PASSED but my Note had error under the progress line on the screen. I would like to flash it correctly with the correct files until v2 is available. Device is doing stupid stuff like most apps F/Cing when they first open and some other odd things. I did a factory reset and wiped the cache in recovery and tried reflashing the factory firmware, still saying error on display, it PASSED, but im putting all my apps back and waiting for it to happen again....
