LTE Bands - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

I have a ANE-LX3C25 it had band 5 enabled but i changed it to LX1C432 and it can not longer get LTE, it seems that there is no one in this forum with c25.
Can someone tell me if C432 supports band 5? If so what did go wrong?
If it doesn't can someone share Oem info of a model with band 5 enabled?

Where are you located? I'm in the same shoes, I reflashed an LX1C432 (European) into LX3C605, hoping to have LTE but all I get is Edge on US T-Mobile.
The only info I found is here, it clearly shows some models will have some of my LTE bands (I'm in NYC) but it does not show which damn country firmware we have to flash: https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/huawei-p20-lite

Did anybody check for hidden LTE bands yet?

Run a test (no risk involved here, as this is just the test, not the permanent unlock) e.g. on a T-mobile H901:
Enter 277634#*# on your num pad, then select Field Test, Modem Settings, LTE Band Selection and then check what happens if you press BAND 20 (success or fail?). If it is success, then there could be the possibility to unlock band 20 on a H901.
See the same subject on the G4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-enabling-lte-bands-t3137818
I'd bee keen to see if any of the released models supports B28 (one of the bands on 700mhz)
Doesn't the T-Mobile V10 already support band 20? It lists it in their specs.
What I'd be curious about is Band 17 for better AT&T compatibility on the H901. I will probably get mine tomorrow so I can test more.

Hey, can't find where to check LTE bands in that menu.
That menu does not exist on US variants (I can guarantee the T-Mobile variant, but probably goes for all of them, just like the G4). The T-Mobile variant in DFS will show up 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, and 20 as active bands. DFS can't write back to the phone for some reason, so you can't manually activate more bands, but with a SIM unlock and the other carrier's SIM it should auto-activate the other bands. In case someone wants a picture version:

I thought the hardware of the phone determined what bands are available. Is it really something that, if you could write back to the phone, could be turned on with the flip of a switch? Either way, that's still pretty interesting.

All the US variants share the same hardware. If we could write back, all bands the chipset supports would be active.

I am also interested, since I bought one and I am stuck on 3G, because the band 4 is which the most carriers in Alberta- Canada utilize. Any updates on that? Is it possible to enable hidden bands on H961N variant?

Menu does exist on H901. Use this code..
*#546368#*901#
However, i get success when i select Band 20 but getting no signal.
ATT model user, try *#546368#*900# to see you can get into that menu.
Same for me. No signal after LTE20 selection.
Great find for the menu. Unfortunately H901 does not support Band 8 (800Mhz). The only one that is missing for me.

What do you need it for? It didn't do anything except show what was active on the phone, you can't write to it from my testing. I don't have a copy of it anymore, but any version of it should work equally.

Supported 4G/Lte bands

I bought this device 2 months ago, I'm very pleased with the price / quality ratio that the Blu Vivo 5 offers.
However, the lack of supported Lte bands (2, 4 and 7 only) is remarkable, especially since the mediatek processor mtk-6753 supports the 'worldmode' 4G / Lte feature which means that all Lte bands are supported. This would be just perfect if it would be supported by the firmware on this phone... Especially since I live in an area where AT&T broadcast Lte signals on different lte bands than supported by the Blu Vivo 5.
I have done some research and I have been trying to read out the current baseband flash file and I'm positive that the current (2, 4 and 7) lte bands are enabled / controlled by this modem baseband (MOLY.LR9. W1444.MD.LWTG.MP.V42.P71).
Anyway, I made some progress by locating the files that holds the lte bands configuration in the device. When I make more progress by successfully enabling more lte bands, I will start a new post in the right section of this forum. For now I'd like to ask if anyone has more info about enabling / tweaking the baseband and / or lte bands configuration with mediatek based devices.
There are many threads and info about Qualcomm based devices where the nvram has been tweaked to enable more lte bands. But as far Mediatek based devices, there is not much to find, other than tools (like MTK engineer mode) to display info. So any helpful background info is highly appreciated!
can u tell me where the files are located? and i also agree this phone is very very very worth every penny

Agreed. But how to enable the LTE bands?
Any progress on this? I would love to enable additional LTE bands if possible.
My phone drops LTE everyday. Only a reboot helps. Maybe this could help...
In Norway we use LTE bands 3, 7 and 20 (all network operators). This phone only supports 2, 4 and 7. Would really love to be able to use band 3 and band 20!

Band Selection

I have V30+ (H932 /T-mobile version) I already get T-mobile Permanent Unlocked on my device.
Just realized that the bands availability for this device is not as many as Samsung Note 8 (T-Mobile version).
eg. no LTE band 8. The spec stated it has
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA B1/B2/B4/ B5;
LTE B2/B4/B5/B12/B46/B66/B71 (USA-Tmobile)
Roaming LTE B1/B3/B7/B20/B38/B39/B40/B41
I will use this phone in the country that need LTE band 8.
by reading this thread;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/increasing-data-speeds-t-mobile-t3703325
It seems , I have found a way to get into engineering mode to get into band selection option and turned on the band I need.
but I have a doubt if this phone will be working especially LTE band 8 in my destination country where I have to Travel. (there is no LTE band 8 on LG V30+ t-mobile)
Can some one confirm and test to by switching SIM card, (must be temporary /permanent unlock), let say turn on band 17 from ATT since default T-mobile version is not available,
The area where I live T mobile and ATT use LTE band 4 so it is hard for me test myself with ATT SIM card if band 17 is working after I turned on that band.
Thank you

LTE band 17 is a subset of LTE band 12. All new AT&T phones now only list band 12, because it includes 17.
A lot of AT&T customers missed this news apparently:

January 11, 2017

Here are the specs for the AT&T LG V30 H931 -- straight from both the LG and AT&T websites. DO YOU SEE BAND 17 listed on this AT&T phone?
No. Because LTE band 12 is listed -- therefore no need to list LTE band 17.
http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-H931-Black-lg-v30
IF you go to the AT&T website to BUY an LG V30 H931 from them, here are the bands they show you are on the their own phone. Slightly different order from the LG.com website -- but still NO band 17. No need to show LTE band 17, since LTE band 12 is there!
https://www.att.com/cellphones/lg/v30.html#sku=sku8510583
The V300 I received from HK didn't have the B20 LTE band on the spec sheet.
But when i enabled it in the engineering menu, it worked perfectly with European networks.
There are some apps that give you the ability to record the bands number you encounter and log them.

Read my reply again. 17 is subset of 12. Even new AT&T phones no longer show "17", since they will now show 12. If you have 12, then you have 17. New AT&T phones will no longer show separate 17.
Even the AT&T LG V30 doesn't show 17. Why? Because 17 is already IN 12. (Like sugar is in cookies.)

There is no reason not to believe your point, as I already said "good to know"
I don't need to argue about it .
In technical point ATT band 17 is already covered by band 12 (T-mobile) which 700Mhz ( a )
for some people they just read band 17 is band 17 not band 12. and obviously they are thinking it is different with limitation of technical knowledge.
I just pointed out the frequencycheck.com

I guessed ATT can't just stated they are using band 12 which they don't have (extended range LTE 700Mhz a)

AT&T now calls it band 12 on their phones moving forward.
Older phones will still show "17".
That site you keep giving link to is not an AT&T website and you have no idea when it was even last updated. I'm not even going to bother going to that site because I know I'm right. I really don't care what they say. They haven't kept up with current development.
It's why the AT&T LG V30 H931 on the AT&T website doesn't have LTE band 17 listed, but has LTE band 12 in the specs instead.
There are apps like LTE Discovery that will show you what bands you are on, and even keep a log as you travel around.

On my US998, here's the bands I am getting as I travelled to work yesterday morning. I was getting LTE bands 2 and 12. As expected it's now LTE band 12, not "17" -- because AT&T doesn't call it Band 17 anymore (except older phones will still show that). All new AT&T phones or new phones compatible with AT&T (like the US9998) will show LTE band 12.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/47blo3/eli5_band_12_vs_band_17/
Band 12 consists of the frequencies 698-716 and 728-746. This band is the only band that covers the 700a block that T-Mobile uses, and also happens to cover the b-block and lower-c-block that AT&T uses.
AT&T is upgrading its network so that it can handle Band 12 phones, since Band 17 is a subset of Band 12. This means that people will be able to use T-Mobile phones on the AT&T network.
Additionally, AT&T's phones will begin coming with Band 12, which means they can be used on the T-Mobile network.

Have some questions!

Thinking about buying this phone. Can you guys tell me the common issues with this phone? The one I'm most concerned with is the headphone jack, does it produce hiss sound at low volume? I ask this since I came across a lot of phones with that issue. Thanks in advance

I personally don't experience hissing on this phone. As far as issues, it involves the OTA from Vendor Roms which bricked some devices. You can check your ROM version and cross reference it with the ones on the Mi website to make sure. Aside from that, I don't see anything wrong with the phone.
Hi, I'm also considering to buy Note 5 and I just wanted to say that I don't have that problem with Note 4, it doesn't mean much since I don't use N5 but I think there is very very little chance for hissing issue in any device produced in 2017.

Hi, when I purchased seller offer also a global variant for 40 usd more.
Many people confuse about global device version and global firmware that it´s not the same.
You just have to pay special attention to the bands that is enabled, the global version has more bands enabled, by i.e my version that is a non global doesn´t have LTE bands 2 (1900) nor 4 (1700/2100) it mean that in my country it can´t work on 4G (of course I bought it so it is cause I didn´t need). This is the main difference.

Why do you say that has B4? Where you saw it?
Look at this info, just 4G apparted, this is a non-global version from a chinese seller you can find these specs;
4G FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600
TD LTE B38:2600 /B39:1900/ B40:2300 /B41:2500 MHz
TD or TDD is the LTE FOR China, look up FDD LTE bands.
And this is a Global version, seller usually put in a red highlighted the bands added
4G: FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600 /B4:1700 /B20:800;
TD LTE B38:2600 / B40:2300
Differences here are bands 4 for Latin America and guess some regions of Asia and maybe others and band 20 for Spain.

Why do you say that has B4? Where you saw it?

I mentioned that because my 4g shouldn't work but it appears in the notification bar.
I bought the "Official Global ROM" (I saw it is not the Global Version)
FDD LTE B3:1800/B1:2100/B7:2600/B5:850/B8:900MHz
TDD LTE B34:2100/B38:2600/B39:1900/B40:2300/B41:2500MHz
This confuses me :silly:

No, if your device hasn´t these two added bands definitely it´s not a global version (global rom concept mean nothing for this) is a hardware limitation although can work within 4G depending on your company carrier in some of the 5 frequencies enabled.
I have a Chinese RN5, it has loads of bands dudes. The chance of it not working on your network are slim.
As for the headphones dilemma, they do not hiss or produce low volume. Altho if you pair them with Xiaomi Pro HD which have a high impedance then you will notice a lack in volume. That can be easily fixed with Dolby Atmos the Magisk Module.

Question SM-S918b Verizon Question

Does anyone have this variant running on verizon? If so how does it work?
You can always check the bands that model supports vs the bands for Verizon in the area you plan on using it. Both sets of information are available online. Cell mapper I believe is the app you see what bands and networks are in your area and GSMArena should have the bands listed for that model.
I have looked and 4g has all the bands 5g is missing the mmv ones but can't find anything on 3g for either one.

I looked it up and yeah the only models that support us 5g mmw is U/U1 models so no 5g and likely 3g isn't supported on models that are outside us is my guess.
