Has anyone found a custom (AOSP, Lineage, etc) ROM that connects to Verizon on boot, and allows for text messaging?
Have you found an automatic method to maintain a connection upon boot? So far I have found, I believe, that if you install Verizon Security and Privacy, you will have a connection when you boot.. But it hasn't been consistent. I had the most success (so far) with the Havoc ROM.
There are issues with Sprint as well that is related to your Verizon issues. @SGCMarkus said he will be working on the device tree to address these issues once he has time.

I found that if you make a call first, then your SMS/MMS work consistently, also Verizon Messages apk work most reliably for MMS

Hello,
Two problems (very likely unrelated):
Issue 1: I haven't been able to receive any mms. Is this a known problem for custom roms, and/or does it relate to my service provider? I am using PagePlus. Do I need to manually edit or delete something?
Issue 2: I can't blacklist specific text message senders. This seems like a major oversight to me, but I'm not a dev ... maybe it's extremely difficult to do. I don't want to block texts completely.
An app would be fine, but I don't want to put closed-source stuff on my phone.
Using Cyanogen 7.2. Googled these issues several times since installing about a year ago.
Please assist if you can solve either mystery...thanks

Hey about your MMS issue for one do you have it through service? Or maybe you have to go back to stock to update prl, have you tried Google voice?, also could use Google voice to help block ppl

Issue 1: not normally a problem but it does happen,,, generally 2 options will get you back going,,, i use pageplus too and experienced it 1 time only,,,
Option 1 ;; odin flash back to stock eh03 boot up, don't activate yet,,, then do process to flash cm7 or newer, recommend a jellybean cm10.1 android 4.2.2 ROM though,,, then activate phone,,, not 100% sure this works but it should
Option 2 for PagePlus users:: it's called an esn swap,,, it it requires an old phone capable of pp phone activation (any old non-smart cdma Verizon phone will work too , or someone willing to let you borrow theirs for the process)
A PagePlus csr can do this for you if you call in,,, or online dealers can do this too, some charge for doing it though,,,, you are gonna need the esn/imeid # for both phones and the phone #'s,,,
What you are doing is powering off both phones, and activating the temporary phone with your # and make a test call, l, then make sure power is off on both and re-activating your fassy phone with your #
(It took me longer to type this than it would to do an esn swap)
.
I did a clean install of the latest Cyanogen Mod today and I'm having some issues. It says digital roaming (I know about the bug) but I do not have any data connection at all and I can't seem to toggle data on and off, it is displayed as constantly on on the taskbar. Also people are not receiving my texts messages but they are supposedly being sent out, I can receive theirs however.... Phone calls work fine as far as I can tell. I switch over to the stock ROM and everything works fine so I know its not some sort of Sprint outage. Anyone else experiencing this?
There is a thread for these questions here:

I have the VS985 unlocked, and working on T-Mobile. On stock based Roms I can do calls, texts, data, everything. But on AOSP based Roms, I can't get a text out to save my life.
I've done some reading where people are saying that since Verizon uses CDMA, I won't be able to text with T-Mobile. BUT if that's true, then why does it work on the stock based Roms?
I have done a completely clean install of CM12, didn't restore anything, didn't even install Gapps. CM12 doesn't recognize the sim card, but I can still call and get data. I can even receive texts but it won't let me push the send button in the stock messaging app. When I try to use Hangouts for SMS, it lets me push the send button, but then it says it failed.
In the stock based Roms I can set my network type to LTE/GSM/UMTS, but in CM12 I can't find that option anywhere. Can someone help me?
Having same issue with stock all the sudden. What APN are you using? Also I found calling allows me to send a single message.

My APN is the fast.tmobile.com one. That's interesting about the phone calls sending texts... For now I'm on Jasmine LP, so I'm not going to worry about it for a while.
Any help with this?
USA TA-1085 here, had this issue since I've had the phone. I'm on an AT&T post-paid plan and I can't send or receive MMS, whether it's a picture or a group text, while connected to WiFi. If WiFi is switched off or not connected to a network, MMS functions seamlessly. If connected to a network, Android Messages will prompt me to download, and it'll spin for awhile and then time out. I've tried other messaging apps like Textra with no results. My APN settings are the same as my previous phone (Moto G5+)
Nokia Support had me delete a lot of system app data, toggle battery saver, and nothing worked. They only indicated that a solution may be presented through an app or system update, that they report bugs to Google with a request for resolution, that updates "usually come every month" and "most likely within November I should receive it." For what it's worth, that's a similar response I got to issues with Smart Lock, and those issues have since been resolved.
Has anyone else seen a similar issue and fixed it?
I just tried this on my 7.1 and had no issues. I sent an mms from a MintMobile device to my 7.1 on AT&T and it worked with the WiFi connected. I know this doesn't really help but I'm just letting you know as another data point.
I had issues with MMS in general. I removed all the APNs, created a new one with all the proper TMobile info, and installed Textra (which I own). No issues since then.
Oddly, I wasn't aware I may have been having MMS issues but while I was checking the APN for LTE connection I messed something up and lost connection completely and reset my APN's to default. This prompted an MMS message to be immediately delivered upon reconnecting which could have been a coincidence but after seeing this post and testing sending MMS messages to myself and friends, I have no issues now on T-Mobile on Wi-Fi or off.
Saw a thread in the Nokia 7.1 forum that links this behavior to WiFi calling. Is that enabled on your phone?

I stumbled across this while playing around with AquariOS Pie, I assume it should work for most custom ROMs (I have only tested it on AquaiOS though), if you have Verizon (again, might work for other carriers, but I have VZW so that's what I tested), this should allow you to send/receive texts with LTE enabled, normally the phone should connect to 3G/1X for Voice and texts & 4G/LTE for data, but it doesn't for me.
The easiest fix I found is to just make a call to voicemail every time you boot, then it connected to both 1X and 4G and worked fine until I reboot.
