Is it just me or the vibrate function on the SGS2 is VERY VERY weak even at max vibration level ?
lol. I think its only you. The vibrate on my GS II is so long and strong, its annoying.
Every whatsapp or gg talk or email, there is a loooong notification vibration.
I wish someone could find a solution to shorten this vibration. Hopefully with the introduction of AOSP roms.
The most annoying thing with vibration in SGS2 is this strange sound. Bzzz... Strange.

I share same feelings, considering phone in my pocket sometimes I cant feel it vibrate at all.
More annoying thing is the pouch case (suncase) Ive recently purchased, it doesnt have an opening for speaker at bottom, which mutes the ringing sound in 90% and somewhat it reduces vibration effect.
At busy street = no sound, little vibration = I usually end up with 10+ missed calls per day :/

When the phone is in my pocket and Im walking, there is ZERO chance for me to know if anyone sent me a message, they would have to call me.. They need to make the vibrate of the phone about 2-3x stronger and 3x longer or have different profiles vibrate.
Oh yeah, I don't feel the phone vibrate too. There are three annoying things about this phone and the weak vibration is the third.
1. Pathetic battery life
2. Home button delay
3. Weak vibration

All 3 (for me anyway) aren't true.
Battery has lasted me 20 hours from full charge with medium usage and I'm now at 16% and that's pretty damn good from my previous phones.
Home button is very quick
My phone vibrates so strong, I'm pretty sure it could buzz its way through a tree.

For the sms notification, you can always use handcent. Its a replacement app for the sms app. It usually has good reviews and u can set the vibration.

+1 actually find the vibration quite invasive/annoying. And thats on halfway setting
As for the battery, i have no problems, neither does my fiance , who also has sgs2.
Only time ive experienced home button delay was when i had a lockscreen replacement installed.

I am unlucky on this, I have just realised that vibration does not work on my device, neither the haptic feedback! I went to test menu *#0*# and chose vibrate but it does not work I made a small research on the net and it seems that I am not the only one, many users are having this problem. I hope it's not a hardware problem.
Edit: İ am now dissapointed because when İ go to vibra motor test mode by dialing *#0842# the vibration does not work here neither or with *#7353# menu.
Any ideas?

I guess my nerves always needed stronger stimulation, but vibration in my unit doesnt even tickle... unless I'm owning faulty device.
I cant imagine hearing/feeling msg at concert, when there is so much vibes and noise around me.

the vibration intensity option in the settings is for the haptic feedback vibration. it has nothing to do with call/text vibration.
i also find the vibration extremely weak on my phone. i miss most of my alerts even when I'm sitting at my office with the phone in my pocket
Well having it at the front pocket may make a difference as compared to having it on your side pockets or when your wearing jeans and walking/moving.
Can't get it to work and it is checked on in settings. Is there a trick to it? I've tried face down and face up and only while on outgoing call that is still ringing, not during a connected call. Is that the problem? That would seem weird to me.
Also, when I first started researching phones, one of the first ones I looked at had a feature that when you got a call if you turned it over it would silence the ringer. I have a feeling it was the Moto Droid though. Anyone know if there's an app to do that on the RZD or if I'm mistaken and it has that feature?
From my understanding, u must be in "normal" sound profile for flip speaker to work. Also the ringer does go silent* when u pick it up.
*maybe not silent, but ringer does get alot lower
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
It's in normal.
I haven't noticed that with the ringing but I'm thinking more of a silence the phone and ignore it sort of situation. Like if I'm at work or with a friend and the phone rings I can just turn it over and it will stop.
Mine works. I accidently got it to work actually. Sat the phone down while talking to someone then all of a sudden they got loud. Everytime I have tried it sense it has work.
was one of the first things I discovered on my rezound, and I love it. I use it quite often actually haha. There is a setting in the menu to enable or disable it, as well as the silence if you move the phone while it's ringing.
Settings > Sound settings under incoming calls
I used to have these extra settings checked, but i read somewhere that it drains the battery faster. Maybe the sensors detecting the orientation of the phone causes some battery drain, but im not positive about that.
It works really well on mine. If there's a battery issue, maybe you want to check what power settings you're in. I keep mine in performance, since that also seems to cause less problems with 4G turning off. Also check if your sensors are working, maybe with a tilt game or something similar. I've had it on the whole time and it doesn't seem like I get less battery life than what people report, at least not obviously.
Just tested this out, and it seems like the speaker phone flip and silence ringer flip only work when the phone is on a flat surface. The phone lowers the volume of the ring when you pick it up, but mutes it completely if you flip it face down on a flat surface. The speakerphone works the same way, at least I couldn't get it to activate without putting the phone down.

I tested the muting the rings when you turn it over and that worked, then when I answered it my friend hung up! She didn't know the second part of the test. lol. Then our food came and we stuffed our faces. Then we had to go to a stupid 3 hour safety training class that didn't apply to our department AT ALL. Oh well...
I wonder if it needs the sensor covered up as well as being turned over, the one that makes the screen turn off when you hold it to your ear.
Yep, I think that's it. If you turn it over and don't lay it on a table no speakerphone, but if you then just cover that sensor with your hand it goes to speakerphone. Problem with this function is when you turn it back over speakerphone turns off. Guess I'll just turn on speakerphone the old fashioned cumbersome way. Was hoping to just be able to flip it over and back. Oh well.

Hey anyone not getting a notifcation sound upon charge complete with the ICS LPQ? It's pretty annoying as I don't like to leave my phone overcharging the sound used to be very loud and beepy.
Mine vibrates at 100%, won't try it until I have to charge my phone again tonight but maybe if you uncheck the vibrate & ring option in the settings this might solve the problem.
I've never used vibrate only regular ringer and it made a noise when it not was done charging I don't know what to do to get it back now.
This is a serious issue no one is having the same problem? Yesterday I left my phone charging for 10 hours because I forgot about it! I need my beepy full charge sound.

No, he wants the notification sound. He doesn't want it removed.:what:
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Mine has stopped doing it too, so it looks like they've removed it - still get the icon in the notification bar that it's full though
Personally I'm glad it's gone - used to hate it going off just as I was going to sleep, plus the battery pack/case thing that Samsung sell can now be used without the sound continually going off as it reaches 100% during use
Yes mine used to beep before ICS, although it still vibrates to let me know it's completed charging.

How can I see, someone is liked when battery notification wake up you on 2 am
First time I hear about somebody liking that bloody battery chirp and yes, it's gone in ICS builds. There is no explicit setting to enable/disable the battery charge notification, as it's triggered by the framework (at least that's how it was in Gingerbread).
You could try decompiling SystemUI and adding a notification trigger in addFullChargeNotification ... but it's much more trouble than it's worth. Plus, Samsung probably had a valid reason to remove it.
Oh wow I'm very sad to see this go. The sound is good for me because I charge my phone during the day time while I'm doing stuff on my PC and if I start watching movies or games and the beep doesn't go off I might leave it plugged in for a long time.
I'm not sure about decompiling and stuff is anyone able to do this for me? I'd be very grateful!
Well, it's much easier removing stuff than adding it, unfortunately. If it makes you feel better, it doesn't hurt at all to leave your phone plugged in even after it's charged; the battery management routines will let it discharge up to 90-92% and recharge it again when it's full in order to preserve the battery's condition.
The disconnect notification is mostly there due to environmental laws being pushed for energy conservation, so you don't leave your charger plugged in
BTW, Battery Monitor Widget has the option to notify you when the battery is charged. Pro version is well worth the money IMHO.
I confirm that it's still not fixed in LP3. I also miss the sound very much. What I Donny follow is that the sound is still present in three system/media/audio/ui - indicating this could be an overlook? I'd much rather the notification was played by TouchWiz, vibration sends useless to me.Also as pointed out, it makes sense to leave the notification since for those who don't like it, there are options like charging in silent mode or completely removing the sound, while the other way round us not easy.
If Samsung doesn't add this back, the easiest way to fix this would be through an app. I might write one someday... When I get some free time.
I noticed when I plug in my headphones in my car (to ye old cassette adapter), the volume goes down to around 60% or so. Raise it up to 100%, unplug & plug the headphones back in & it lowers again.
Anyone know if there is a setting somewhere I'm not aware of?

Darn you 'features' for causing me extra steps!!
This annoys me too. I need the volume at 100% for it to sound decent in my car. And where I dock it, the volume keys are face down so it's a hassle to do.
I smiled the first time I saw the "listening at high volumes can damage your hearing" warning that appears when raising the volume to 90-100%.

When I plugin external speakers, the volume automatically lowers itself down. I raise it up to 15... it lowers it back down to 10 automatically with a pop-up about listening to music too loud. Wtf.

this is how my xperia z ultra (C6833, 4.4.2, 14.3.a.0.757) plays notifications
http://i.imgur.com/iD4VkhE.png
this is supposed to be a 2 second long 1KHz tone at -3 dB, almost maximum volume. A simple signal so one can see it clearly.
there is a gap near the start and a very very loud pop before it starts. The pop is off the scale, much louder than what the device supposedly allows any sound to be.
any ideas?
Does this happen with all the notification sounds? If so, it's a really weird issue.

all i have tried so far exhibit this behaviour.
going into diagnostics and doing the earphone and speakerphone test in succession stops the problem
but after half a minute it starts doing it again.

I've had the same thing on some stock ROMs (I don't recall which). There's no such issue on Paranoid Android.

Don't really know what to do about that.
Perhaps someone could write a script that whenever media server starts like with notification or ringtone, it starts in low volume and max out very quickly or to the volume level that the user has set so that it doesn't become that "ascending ringtone" function.
And if media server is already active. Like if you are playing a game or music there would be some environment function that the script does not trigger it self because when media is played and a notification comes on it only lower the volume of that stream so the problem does not involve these scenarios. And when the notification ends the volume of the music is reset to its original volume.
So the problem from what I have experienced is that the cracking sound comes only when media server is inactive and starts up.
This idea would work similar to the "ascending ringtone"function. But this applies to all notification streams and not only ringtones.
This is one solution I can come up with. But I don't know how to implement this in a rom.
This might eliminate this pop-cracking sound right before the sound of an notification or ringtone plays
One suggestion is perhaps to make this to a module that installs and activates with Xposed framework?
edit: Oh forgot to mention. Im on slimkat rom with pimped kernel. But it does the same with any other kernel or rom
don't want to ruin it for you but the pop *will* happen, no matter if the volume starts low or high.
i measured it with the volume at the minimum (but not zero) volume. the pop is still there, still louderthan the max volume.
i wonder if we can bring charges against sony for this. we've set the volume to a certain level and the phone not only ignores it but it also produces a sound louder than what is normally possible on the device. *much* louder, not just "quite louder". we're talking four times louder.
Bring charges...
