If you go into settings > system > language & input > then disable whatever keyboard you don't use (I disable Swiftkey and use Gboard) and that should do it. ?

Don't you feel that the height of gboard is a little too short?
Just asking

I use mid-tall and it's good for me. I just like being able to search for emojis and prefer the layout over Swiftkey.

How do I enable the GB Keyboard ? I downloaded one from the market it installs but I cant seem to figure out how to enable. I'm running virtous and have tried on stock and also on perfect storm and nothing. Am I doing something wrong ?
Menu>settings>Language & Keyboard and enable.
Then go to a place where you'd put text in (messaging app for example) and long press and select input method and select gingiekb
I tried that. I was thinking there was something more to it. Once I get to the menu I see GB Keyboard settings and Htc _ime mod settings and touch input settings I can change the settings but nothing actually happens

There should be a check mark to enable the keyboard in the settings.
Then go to a place where you'd put text in (messaging app for example) and long press and select input method and select gingerbread keyboard

This maybe a stupid question, but what button do I need to press to switch from the stock Samsung keyboard to a different one that i have installed?
I would like to do it on the fly and switching between different keyboards while typing....
The other keyboard I have installed has a dedicated button to allow me to switch back to samsung, not the other way around
Any idea?
Hey mg_k I don't believe you can do that using the stock Samsung keyboard. I had a little fiddle and the only way I found you could switch is to go to Settings > Keyboard and input > select the keyboard you want.

That's ridiculous on Samsung's part
oh well ICS keyboard here i come
Thanks for the info.
first you must install 3rd party keyboard application in your phone..
to change the keyboard is when you type a message, there will be a keyboard icon in notification bar, just tap it to change the default keyboard.

Yeah that works, only if you have the third-party keyboard enabled

That's the answer I am looking for! Not as elegant as a button within the keyboard...but at least that works.
Thanks heaps
Is it at all possible to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad on the dock? It's tracking way to fast and slowing it down would make it a little more accurate. What do you think?
There is an option for that: Settings -> Language and input -> Mouse/trackpad.

As tge topic says, does anybody know how to disable it? I've already tryed to deactivate Search in the Applist, but it.'s still there.

Agree, it's as ugly as it's useless (for me tho) :fingers-crossed:
If found the soulution
Just go to settings--> Homescreen-->Actionbar Design--> Disable
you should go settings--> Homescreen-->Actionbar Design--> Disable
Huh, thanks for the info, I'd never guess it's Actionbar Design.
I was searching something like Google Search bar or sth...
Slight update
Not sure if ADW has changed but it is actually in:
ADWSettings>Screen>Actionbar Design and then choose Disable
That worked thanks

Does anyone know how to simply set it back to the default google style? The only "awful" thing about it is that the actual searchable part of the bar is less than half the real-estate on the left-hand side, and then a large blank area for... no reason at all, then an utterly useless app-drawer button.
I just want a Google search bar, but running universally along the time like the action bar!!
thanks
