I have an Alcatel A564C with only 2Gb of memory.
I'm to the point where I can't even install app updates because I'm so short on memory.
I've looked into rooting and a custom rom to maybe gain a little space, but there isn't anything out there.
I wouldn't mind adding a microSDXC card if I could force it to use that too or instead of the internal memory if that's possible.

Does anyone know if there is a mximum number of apps you can download from the market? Even though I have plenty of memory left on the phone, I am only allowed to download a certain amount of apps and then the phone tells me installation unsuccessful due to memory. I have over 3 gb on phone and 10 on card. Any help would be appreciated!
Your internal memory is probably full. That even happened to me on the Evo. You should begin installing apps on your sd card. Get apps2sd or another app like that. You may have to have root access.. I'm not sure.
Install them on the SD Card just like @Adamp24 said. There is no limit as to how many apps you can download; only limited by internal or external memory.
Also, remember that when installing apps to the SD card the app will be tied to it. So if you remove the card and try and run the app you may get a force close.
I have 225apps installed from market on my Droid. No need for SD card and no error messages or low memory DroidX rules all
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Are you sure, that there is no limit for the applications?
I am using link2sd, so I have a lot of free memory...
But I am unable to install more than 1023 applications altogether.
(I know, I know, maybe I should delete some of them, but anyhow...)
Am I doing something wrong? Can I do something to have more applications?
(MyAudio Tablet 7, Android version 4.0.4, by the way...)

Just wondering somthing, when I go to App Management and look at the tab for Apps which are installed on SD memory, on the bottom is shows the Internel 16GB memory stats.
It shows I have 9GB free of 13GB. When I check under the tab for the apps installed on the phone memory, it shows I have 1GB of 1.8GB free.
When I move an app from the 1.8GB phone memory to the SD Memory (Apps2SD) the app gets moved to my 4GB MicroSD Card.
If I remove the MicroSD card from the phone, I can't move the apps, it says I don't have enough free memory. I've been reading, and appearently you can only install to the externel MicroSD.
Is there a way I could change this and make the app install too the 16GB Memory, can I change mount points, partition my 16GB internel Memory, anything?
When I was using the GalaxyMTD nightlys it would put the app on the internel 16GB memory. So I know it is possible to do, but I don't know how to do it.
Thx

Has anyone been able to successfully move an app from the internal storage to an sd card on the NT? I have tried using App2sd and Astro file manager to move apps, but every time I move one, it breaks the app and I end up have to reinstall it to the main storage.
How can I move or initially install apps to my sd card?
Thanks in advance.
Moves, but disappears
SuperToolbox moves them to the SDcard nicely, and they work until I reboot. Then they are GONE!
Is there a cure for this?
Apps2SD/ZDBox?
Has anyone had any better luck with this? Both Apps2SD and ZDBox break the app. And at least in the case of ZDBox, the application never even shows up on the SD card when I do a search.
Had to ask: Why would you want to move an app to SD? I understand that the nook has sufficient storage space to handle a lot (something like 13GB) of apps.

in all honesty it weird that you would want to install apps on to your SD card since you basically have 13GB of access for apps. Installing apps from your SD card goes into the data folder on the NT if i am not mistaken, and apps take very little space unless you are downloading games which have like additional content that takes like 1gb of space. Even then you should still have sufficient storage...
you guys know that we can only use 1 gig of all that internal storage, right? because the other 12 gigs are dedicated to Barnes and Noble content...

Have you read any of the threads on the partitioning of the device?
Some apps seem to install to internal memory by default, and some to sd card if one is present.
Even more annoyingly however, many of the apps that default to SD card if you move them to internal memory MOVE BACK TO THE SD CARD when you update them.
Is there any way to prevent apps from automatically installing to the SD card? Or at the very least, installing to SD card is fine... but to prevent them from moving BACK to the sd card when you update them?
I've seen this question in 3 different topics on XDA and none of them is answered. My question is similar to this; Apps are installed on internal memory but app data is on external. As a result i have a completely empty internal memory and a full sd card. Tried possible suggestions on other sites but didn't work. Why can't we choose where to install the app data? How to move the app data back, since app2sd wouldn't work on this situation.
FYI, buy a bigger memory card is NOT a solution, it's a workaround for the actual problem..

Looks like your problem can be solved with "link2sd" which gives a permanent option on where to install apps. Search it in Google Play.
In my case (i have three different memory blocks) you have to do a repartition and a custom rom but i don't want to go there so i just mapped the drives with editing vold.fstab and bought a bigger memory card
Hello,
What is the easiest way to expand the usable memory for apps on an Android KitKat phone which is rooted? I have seen many apps and solutions to this. Link2SD looks to be the simplest. I want to enable the device to use the external SD card to store apps and data to. The phone I have, LG L70 D321 has 2GB of phone storage and 2GB of internal RAM (ridiculous). I have a 16GB external SD card which I want to load the apps onto since the other space is already exhausted.
The solution should be transparent to the end user, meaning that when they install a new app, it simply gets installed to the SD card without having to do anything extra like assigning paths or anything.
Thanks everyone.
There are a few apps that will install them on sd cards but be warned it will hurt performance and may cause issues. Also no widgets for anything on sd card.
