I am curious to see what you guys are going to do now that the Note 7 is officially gone. I am hopeful that it will be back in some shape or form.
I was going to get the the Note 7 as soon as it became available, but now I am on the market for a new phone.
So, I am curious... what are you going to do? Are you jumping ship? If so, which one? I honestly do not find ANY phone to get in lieu of the Note 7. Those that come close fall short of the Micro SD Card.
Already swapped out for a S7 Edge silver its good so far reason is i have the Gear VR ,256 gb sd card and a gear fit 2....plus the LG V20 isnt due untill the 28 and pre orders for sprint start on the 21 just could not risk my family. Im really sad but hey we are safe!

Oh nice! I didn't know about the LG V20. I looked at the specs, and it's not bad. It has the expandable memory, so that's a plus for me.
My only issue with the S7 is that it's too small.
Note 8...
Inviato dal mio SM-N930F utilizzando Tapatalk
Bought a new dual SIM Note 5 to keep me going until the return of the Note super phone. I am hoping that Samsung make available the Note 7 features (software) in the next release for the Note 5.
This would be better as a poll.....
Personally I'm just buying a Oneplus3 as if I only keep it for a month or 3, until either the V20 is available or the S8 plus includes a pen (heres hoping), I'll only lose around £50. If I bought something more expensive my loss becomes greater. Oneplus has quite a solid following so reselling will be easy. Also I'm not jumping straight into pre orders again after this. 30 days after launch is now my starting point as I reckon I've lost over £150 on accessories due to samsung mucking this up.
BTW is anyone returning the gift VR or hanging onto it? I'm keeping mine for the next note device I get....assuming the model isn't killed off too. That'd be maddening. I hope the note 8 will be similar but it must have a removable battery after this....if indeed the battery was the sole problem (which I doubt).
Please don't throw rocks....
I am torn between s7e and ip7+. I had before the s7e and was happy with it( trade it for n7) but never had an iPhone. So was thinking till next note to try one.
Advise please?
I had the iPhone 7 plus for 2 weeks. Far too large vs note 7, but very speedy and smooth. I just found the Apple ecosystem too closed and the iOS interface too maddening and it felt antiquated to me. I don't like their new bubble like notification center. Stereo speakers were quite tinny. Also, that damn home button controls everything as far as double tapping etc. To each their own I guess.

The next Note.
Yeap... I played today with a iPhone 7+ in store.
I just can't use it. Just can't. S7edge will be. Plus the gear S3 will come, so...
OnePlus 3. I wanted to be able to use my new gear VR, gear s2, and maybe a gear 360 so I was considering a galaxy s7, but oh well. kinda don't wanna deal with Samsung until maybe the Note 8 or maybe if the S8 is really superb. I heard it'll come with dual cameras so that'd be cool
I will wait for now and keep using the Note 7, not because I am reckless, but it's a calculated risk , for one there is zero cases of battery faults in my region (MENA) for both versions and I disabled fast charging and pay attention if it's warm.
If Samsung forced me to stop it through an update (or kill switch), which I expect to happen in the next few weeks, then it's back to the Note 5.
My big concern is that Samsung still has no idea why the Note 7 keeps catching fire, I am hoping they can find it and pinpoint the issue soon.
I wonder if people really powered down, or returned/exchanged their phones already.
I want to observe the next few days and see if another incident happens.
I added a poll - I meant to say OnePlus 3 instead of One Plus as an option. Unfortunately, I can't change it.
I still have my Note 5 but I love my Note 7 and I will not give it up.
I need 64 Gig and the S7E will not hack it.
The iPhone7+ really sucks.
It is a unique dilemma.
It's hard to believe that Samsung will not address this issue in some way and not just continue along like nothing happened.

I went in and tried to return it but my carrier would not take it in
Please add option in the poll to return to the Note 5.
Still going with my note 5, though i already planned and savings some money for note 7 (and will buy it on november) But with this fiasco, well.. i think lg v20 will be fine.. maybe huawei mate 9 or saving further to march 2017 for s8..
Waiting for the S7Edge to be sent.

I've had the 6p for about A year and a half basically since it came out. Think it's about that time to hang up it's cape this screen burn-in is really annoying me and that outdated processor is starting to show it's age. Would love to hear everyone's opinion on their next phone. I was thinking about the Pixel 2 myself if priced fairly ,or maybe the Note 8 , or the upcoming Essential Phone .
the nexus 6p has taught me how greatly important it is for phones to have a removable battery. I not will pay another $550+ for a smartphone, only to barely get 2 hours of SOT after a year of using it. I really hate planned obsolescence. I am trying to find a high end phone with removable battery other than LG ( bootloop ). But I think it's hard to find one in 2017 and later.
The pixel 2 will not be priced fairly. I would go for the note 8 if money is not an issue or the next oneplus
Yea tell me about it ! Battery life is horrible , buddy of mine at work has a S7 edge that gets double the battery life as my phone
I'm not getting rid of my 6p until i have to. Best phone I've ever had. The only reason people have bad battery life is because your battery is getting old, deal with it, replace it and your good to go again. Just like ANY OTHER sealed phone eventually. Anyone who complains about the processor being outdated as well just wants to justify getting a new phone for no reason IMHO. I haven't found anything yet that will tax my processor enough to have to get something new. Even if my 6p gives up the ghost for good, I'll probably buy another used one to replace it rather than spending insane amounts of money on something new and "improved"

Give it time, his battery will give out one day to. EVERYTHING has a life span.
I just got an RMA so I'll likely keep it awhile. Depends on my luck of the draw with the replacement. If it sucks I'll grab the Oneplus 5 or note.
I doubt we see removable batteries in any higher end device again. Companies claim design but reality is most of these phones aren't water proof and planned obsolesce especially now that device upgrades really aren't necessary every year is a powerful motivator. Unless of course you got a lemon that shuts off at 30% or gets 2 hours SOT or plain doesn't boot after a year or so. I'm hesitant to buy another nexus / pixel after my 6p and 5x.
It's really hard for me not to get an s8 right now.
probably a pixel 2 or 3 by the time they come out and whether my beloved 6p won't decide to die on me.
Pixel 2 or OnePlus 5
Getting the oneplus 5 once it is released.
Pixel 2 for me .
Looks like I'll be keeping my 6p for a while still. The battery life my not be top notch, but I get 4 to 5 hours of screen on time regularly, which is enough for me, especially when I can charge it for 0-100% in like 1.5 hours. My biggest hold up on an upgrade is I demand stereo front facing speakers, a good camera (which the 6p has when using the modded camera nx app), and a no bull**** as close to stock os as possible. The Pixel ticked all those boxes expect stereo front facing speakers so I passed on it, and it doesn't look like the Pixel 2 will be any different.
Honestly the design, speakers and the price of the pixel killed it for me , that phone looks horrible honestly there's nothing on the market right now that i would wanna pick up except the s8+ and that's pushing it because I only love using stock Android. Boy oh boy if they had an s8+ with stock Android with regular timely updates .... lol in a perfect world.
OnePlus 5 or perhaps Pixel 2. Still happy with my 6P though!
Keeping my fingers crossed on the Pixel 2. I would gladly get a S8 if I could run completely stock Android without root (and with monthly updates). Security is super critical for me for numerous reasons, unrooted for the first time a few months ago, haven't missed it.
That having been said, this week I purchased a $299 Moto G5 Plus (64GB/4GB) for someone, and I'm super impressed with quality and speed. Bluetooth and software is a little wonky, last security update was January, hoping for a ROM update, but since it's Moto G, probably not gonna get many updates. Honestly, if it were a Nexus release, I'd be super happy with it, as the hardware is great.

I picked up a new Moto Z on Verizon for $300 (for my wife).
Great phone if you can tolerate a locked bootloader.
Pixel 2, OnePlus 5 or Essential. Considering all of them
The Essential is out of the question for me. I like to take pictures, and the quality of the pictures I've seen from that phone are not that great of quality.
I'm looking at the OnePlus 5. The samples from them have been a heck of a lot better. I've been checking out the 3T forums to see what kind of roms are offered and its not bad looking at all. I'm going to get the 5 and sell my 6p on Swappa. I just hope it has the horizontal dual camera.
Not the iPlus 5 anymore. The OnePlus 5 with a copycat iPhone 7 style is so sad. And with only a small 3,000mAh battery. Screw that.
I switched to an iPhone 7+ last month and couldn't be more pleased. Tried to hold out until the iPhone 8 came out but the 6P was becoming too awful to be a daily driver for me. Lag lag and more lag whenever it is asked to do anything but the simplest of tasks. Then it heats up and throttles creating even more lag and drains the battery. But the main reason for me abandoning ship was because of my DJI Mavic Pro. Nougat and DJI Go 4 don't mix... I'm still keeping the 6P because it used to be a great phone but somewhere along the line, Google ruined it probably in hopes that we would switch to Pixel. Well I switched alright and probably for good! With iOS, everything just works. Only bad part is there's not a community like XDA Developers. Which is why I'm trolling the forums with my 6P lol.

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Best Phone Samsung has ever made
i owned a note 4, for about 4 years until it died on me (dropped it, the screen popped out and that's it). since i owned a few Chinese brands (mid tier phones).
now after getting the note 9 i remembered why i loved my note 4 so much.
its a complete package, it checks all the boxes and overall an amazing device that gives me the proper value for the money. yes its expensive but its also the best of the best.
Overall I love it.

My first note device and first samsung device. I've used many other android devices over the years. I know the number one complaint above this device is probably the price. It's certainly the most expensive phone I've bought to date but ... It's worth every penny! I love it!!!
Can't fault it... Got to be the best all round device... If it had an ir blaster for my TV it would have an the bases covered
My preeeeeciouuuuussssssssss.
Coming from an S7 to a NOTE9, Wooooo what a nice change! Enjoying it so far, and am loving the S-Pen.
Cheers,

:good::good::good: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a fabulously tremendous phone that everyone loves. even Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the best deal in 2018
Everything is perfect, loving it so much more than the Note8! Only gripe would be Bixby... it seems like they threw out some things Bixby 1.0 could do in 2.0 which makes it feel even more inconsistent now... It does seem to have better voice recognition though. For the time being, I remapped Bixby to Google Assistant (something I never did with Bixby 1.0!!!) until they fix Bixby 2 with some updates.
I would share my experience with my Note 9 (Exy)
I trink it is the better Note 8, wich i had before. Overall Speed, Accu & Devicequality is in my opinion so much better. The Display is one of the best i See so far, beside other Devices. I said this about my Note 8 Top, but with my Note 9, i can truely say it is the best Device i owned yet.
Experience from Samsung is absolue lag free. Atm i have the first Time no reason to root my Device.
I think that i will run this great Phone a few years

100 hours from a phone sounds reasonable to me.
I would probably rate this the best android phone i have ever bought if not for the crap battery life on the exynos version.
Best phone ever was still the HTC One m7 imho
Notes 9 is the best phone Notes so far.?
Just got the phone. Came from LG v20. Definitely a huge improvement. Also like it better than my S7 edge. Edge was my favorite phone to date until I broke the screen and grabbed up the V20 to hold me over. Got the note 9 buy one get one free so me and my wife can enjoy
Upgraded from my 2.5 year old S7E to N9 512GB. Loving it absolutely. Great battery life too, getting around 40% left at the end of the day.

I agree, I was excited to use Bixby but I cant find any of the features many people praised about!
i am pleasantly surprised. not many despised TW UI like i did. i actually liked the refresh on the s8, but the lag was still there.
i can confidently say they have finally fixed the lagging issue, albeit with raw power rather than more clever methods.
this is the best phone available right now. i've been flying through phones like crazy for the past 2 years, almost settled on my mate 10, then this came along. very happy.
After some teething problems I'm completely in love with mine. Finally something that's big enough for my hands! (with a case) I'm on Verizon-only one with decent coverage here. (Central Pa.) Can't get over how nice the display is and the sound is great on internal speakers. Using Nova launcher. Caveat: I was using ADW 2 and it wouldn't let me make URL shortcuts to the homescreen with Chrome. Nova works fine. FYI because I was pulling my hair out for awhile.
I use Package Disabler pro plus to freeze nuisance apps and stop Bixby, which I can't care less about. Adguard for other nuisances. Root doesn't matter with this one since it's so damn fast anyway!
I came from a V10 which was starting to not wake up and had totally abysmal battery life, couldn't get through a day without it dying. Note 9 has been going for two days straight... the bigger battery is what really sold me.
Others said it... best Samsung yet!
Looking at the speculation about the upcoming Galaxy S11, I'm wondering whether to cancel my preorder, hold on to Note 8, and wait for the Note 11.
For me, coming from the Note 8 to the Note 10 is quite an upgrade, but it's been spoiled by the negativity surrounding it.
It's possible that next years Note 11 will have a higher screen refresh, a new camera with 10x zoom, 5G on the SOC and hopefully no punch hole.
I know that the next big thing is always around the corner, but has the furore surrounding this years Note left a slightly bitter taste for you, as it has me?
Anyone else facing this dilemma,
I have a Note 8 and I'm getting the Note 10. Plus. It's a big upgrade from the 8. I don't care what others think. I like the phone and I'm getting it and can't wait.

Agree with you. I too have an N8 and N10 plus is a pretty decent upgrade.
Upgrading or not is an individual's choice and one may or may not have many reasons to upgrade or leave N10. I had decided not to upgrade from N8 and was waiting from Mate 3 Pro, but then i was in a Mall shopping & i crossed a Samsung Cafe and thought of checking the demo unit of N10 & i fell in love with its overall beauty and pre-booked it.

I tend to agree with you, for me, these controversies started with the pre release leaks that over hyped what to expect.
People were talking about 90hz screens, 10x zoom on 48 megapixel sensors, sound on display and free wireless buds.
It's then becomes a bit galling when none of it materialises on the Note, but yet competitors and even some Samsung non flagships are touted as getting these features.
What makes it worse is that Samsung developed these technologies and then produces them for it's competitors, but omits them on what's meant to be it's marquee device.
I have cancelled mine as it is not good enough to justify an upgrade from Note 9. I will have a look at what Huawei and Google have to say and decide thereon... In the meanwhile I do respect everyone' s opinion and decision...

My daughter has a Note 9, which I was in two minds of getting for her at the time, since I didn't consider it much of an upgrade from the 8.
I totally understand your stance, and in this period that we've entered of only incremental upgrades, the 'Note' upgrade cycle will for most people be biannual.
Duh.................................................nah. Not cancelling my preorder, there will always be a bigger and better phone right around the corner. I did get free wireless buds and a 10,000 mAh Portable Battery. Not as much as in the past but if you don't want it.....................................just wait.
I won't cancel mine now cause for a decent amount off when ordering from Very. I did expect possibly to get wireless earbuds but I think that was just cause I was hoping. Going from the note 8 also I very happy with my choice so far. Yeah I used my headphone jack before but I'll adapt as we all will have too soon
Don't base your decision on Note 11 rumours. Any Note 11 spec is just speculation and fantasy. How many years did people speculate things like a foldable, or in screen thumbprint reader before anything was released with those?
Will the Note 11 be better than the Note 10? Hopefully they get better with each version. The real question is are you ready to upgrade your Note 8? If so get the 10, if not, see what comes out next year.
Upgrading from the S9+. I figure it'll be a great update since it's a generation back. Plus, I like larger phones and the pen will come in handy. Also, I already use wireless buds at the gym, so the lack of a headphone jack is not a deal-breaker for me.
this 10x optical zoom?
what's the zoom on the note 10+ ?
I have the note 9 and I plan to upgrade. Reason is the trade in each year makes it worth it. I only spent 300 on my note 9 when I traded in my note 8 and the 10+ will only cost me 500 (300 when you factor in the accessories they give you). By the time the note 11 comes out I'm sure Samsung will give you a trade in allowance just like they did for the 10.
Hellz no.
I'm going from an S10 plus and Note 9 to a Note 10 plus.
I will so get the S11 and the Note 11 lol.
I've been doing this pretty much since the S3 with few exceptions along the way.
I also get a new google device yearly as well since the galaxy nexus other than the 1st gen pixel and pixel 3 xl (because they both were terrible).
No sense waiting...get what you want now then just do it again once the next device drops that you like.

Exactly. Doesn't make sense to wait. There's a huge difference between the 9 and the 10+, let alone the 8! I'm paying 340 for mine with the trade-in, barring they don't deny the hairline cracks in the back (not effecting the camera or screen).

I once was that guy. Upgraded my phone every year.. until the Note 7 incident. Which to me was over blown also.. That's when we were downgraded to the S7. Hated that phone and thought I will be a note user for life. After I got the Note 8 and saw the note 9. I felt it wasn't worth the upgrade. So yes now I will be upgrading on even numbers. Odd numbers will get the best new features. And even numbers we get a little extra icing on our cake. I still don't see what all this disappointment is about this phone. I'm sorry but we have gotten spoiled about having all these great innovations every 6 months. I will say this. Hell you could have an Iphone.

I think most of the noise and disappointment could have been avoided if Samsung named the models differently. The Note10+ is really what Note users expect in a Note phone. If they would have called it the Note 10 and the smaller one the Note 10e I don't think there would be as many negative comments about this release.

Agree. My daughter got the S10 and the wife got the S10e, which is actually the S10 with a flat screen and slightly lower specs which is essentially what the Note 10 is except for the flat screen.

That's exactly what happened to me and where I stand. I also didn't get the Note 9 as I didn't see it as much of a worth while upgrade from the Note 8. But the Note 10+ is a different story and is why I'm getting it. I honestly don't care about the headphone jack as I rarely use it. My only thing is the notification light, but even then I am normally paired to my S3 Frontier so I also don't see that as much of an issue either. It wasn't even until I went into a T-Mobile store and saw and interacted with the demo unit that I was sold on getting the phone and also what sold me on not getting it in the aura glow color.
I have been having this disease of buying every new Samsung flagship since S- I9000. I said YES to my regular retailer who called me up for a preorder.
I got the chance to use the the non-retail N10+ for a day recently. Completely based on my own tastes, I'm finding this Note 10+, for the first time ever on a Galaxy Note , not adequately upgraded enough from its immediate "S" predecessor that I own, even though it's been upgraded in few other ways.
In short, I might end up cancelling it.Even if I buy after all, I will not be using it more than 3 months from now, as I am pretty sure I will be buying what Google has for us anyways on 1st release to replace daily driver - thriving to use ideas based on innovation that should actually work, that I'm not seeing in a long time.
I've got a Pixel 6 pre-ordered, using it as my main phone since launch. My experience with random bugs, but especially frustrating Bluetooth devices randomly disappearing or being forgotten, random Bluetooth disconnections and so on have frustrated me beyond belief!
I stopped using Samsung phones back in the Note 2 era as Samsung when on a tangent and lost their marbles, and before my Pixel 6 I was using a Xiaomi Mi 11, which was an excellent hardware, but I could not get on with their buggy mess and poorly implemented dark mode forcing apps and making buttons disappear as consequence. Never again...
Now the Pixel 6 is making me feel the same way, a frustrating half-baked phone which was meant to be exactly the opposite, it should be the flagship Google phone with the latest and most polished software, not this mess.
So I'm considering perhaps moving to a Samsung flagship, but I've no idea if their software will be any better. I'm definitely not going for the Chinese brands anymore, Oneplus lost its way, Xiaomi is a proper mess, Realme and others also not worth considering. Ah, I evne forgot to mention I had an Asus ROG phone once, excellent phone but very slow update cycles, another disappointment.
So what is left for me to try? A Samsung flagship that promises 4 years of updates? The reality is that I'll keep the phone for 2 or 3 years max anyway, but nice that samsnung is finally focusing on providing updates more quickly. Or, go back to an iPhone and forget all this mess, but I'm way more keen on keeping an Android phone due to its flexibility.
Any thoughts guys?
i know how ya feel mephisto.. it was either a samsung A53 or pixel 6a for my budget and the 6a came in £100 cheaper ( argos offer ) so far i have 2 issues . first of all the battery life reminds me of my old galaxy s5 .. lucky to last a full day and I'm not a heavy user either . I've read it settles down after a while once it gets to know your usage patterns , then again I've never really seen that happen in previous phones . And secondly the camera .. yes its good but the jpg compression is way too heavy . I've installed and tuned up bigkakas 8.4 gcam mod and it's pulling out a lot more fine detail than stock . they should give users more options as far as the camera goes.
anyway it still blows the redmi note 11 out of the water so i suppose i shouldn't complain .. but i do
I wonder if I'm alone feeling this disappointed and if there are any good alternatives
It is a result of market expectations (imho). The number of people interested in customizing and tweaking their device is too small to get the attention of the manufacturers. They will target their preferred (ie easiest) audience, and whoever isn't in that audience will have to deal with the results.
i am hugely disappointed in my s6. battery life is poor at best uses 1.5% an hour if i don't touch the device. ( my other 3 phones only use 0.3% an hour, same sim , same service, same place). battery use while on at 5-6% is pretty good.there have been bugs since day one. the camera was advertised as 50mp but software makes it 12mp, that was annoying. and developer support on xda is just ok.
i should have bought the last pixel5
