Yota3+ and WhatsApp Web Client - YotaPhone 3 Questions & Answers

Hi. Has anyone gotten the WhatsApp PC Client to work with Yota3+?
You are supposed to take a QR Code picture of the Web Client to link them,
but the camera does not work.
I get strange colors and the scanning line is totally slow. So it does not work to take a picture of the QR Code.
STrangely in Whatsapp itself it is possible to do camera pictures.
Anyone managed a workaround?

Same Problem
I have the same problem with whatsApp and with my banking app (photo TAN)

tap and turn
with the help of the app tap and turn (fdroid) I forced the landscape mode for whatsApp.
In landscape mode the scanner in whatsApp for the QR code works great.
But the banking app the problem is not solved in landscape mode....
Sorry for my bad english ....

In developer options change the "smallest width" ("geringste Breite" in german) to e.g. 400dp.
With 400 dp in both of my apps (whatsApp and banking app) the camera code scanner works with no problems even in portrait mode!
Now I am searching for a Magisk module to set dpi per app..... tomorrow ....

Wow, thank you. The 400dpi did the trick ! Great finding

Thanks, it works.

Cloud Sync reccomendations?

I am looking for a free app/service that will automatically upload pictures as soon as I take them from my phone (htc touch pro).
What do you use and why? What is out there?
Edit: cant post links...lame...use the googlez
What I have found:
mIQ
Its free but you have to "manually" open the app and let it "autosync".
Mesh
Its still in beta and unfinished...
funambol
Looks like you can sync pictures but doesn't show an option for phones...
myphone
Its limited and not automatic...
sugarsync
This is by far the best but they have not added photo syncing to their app. You will most likely have to open the app for it to sync.
shozu
Kinda annoying by the way it asks you every time to sync
Live Mesh is simple to use and it is running fine for me ! it syncs vice versa too ie. with desktop-to-cloud-to-urmobile.
mIQ should start automatically and run in the background as long as sync is set to "Automatic" in settings.
If you're settings are correct and pictures are NOT uploading automatically as they should, feel free to contact us on our help/feedback page (sorry can't post links yet) and we'll get it figured out!

I had forgot about this post but I as soon as I saw a reply I was going to recommend mIQ. MIQ does run in the background and upload automatically. It just takes time pending on how big the megapixel of the camera.
MIQ is now my favorite app. Plus its amazing too because I work in bby as well.
Now if only I can get that HipLogic app that is advertised soo much...
I can't seem to see all the text messages that i backed up on there.
Also how do i restore the texts from the website to my phone?
Using Winmobile btw.

Best messenger with secret/privacy features

Hi guys,
I'm searching for some messenger with strong privacy and "secret" features. Better explained, I've found Telegram as a good alternative to Whatsapp with its encryption features, but it lacks one thing that I really need: I'd like to keep some chat very private: it will be very useful if the conversation had some kind of PIN-password-pattern unlocking features.
This is possible for sms (Handcent, for example), but I haven't found it in any Messenger service.
Do you know any?
Bump. I'm looking for one too. I looked into evolveSms but I think its a bit over priced for the features. I'm currently using handcent but I don't really like the UI.
I have a data plan with limited sms, so I am interested in messenger/chat service like Whatsapp, Telegram, Kakao Talk and so on, but they all don't offer the 'private chat' option.
Surespot
You could just lock Telegram with another app? There are tons on the Play Store.

Yes, I know, but this is the last option. I'd like to find a solution within the messenger app.
Threema has an Option for PIN Protection.
If activated you have to enter your PIN Code before you can see the messages.
The Problem with Threema is the same with most other messengers ... it´s not open source.
Go Sms Pro
Try GO SMS PRO the best messaging app on playstore it has lots of themes a good ui and the most important one privacy !!! you can protect your messages with pin or pattern lock !!! you can search on play store. I think you have to pay for some features but you can try it !!!
Sorry for my bad english ....!

Once again, I'm not interested in sms app, I need some messenger app working through data network. Maybe with the same features of go sms pro.
As shiva-afk stated, Threema has the protection option you want. It provides end-to-end encryption and protects your send/received messages/media:
First, you can protect your conversations if you set a passphrase for your encryption key. So, if you end the Threema process or reboot your phone, you have to enter this passphrase first before you can access any chat log or received pictures since they are stored encrypted (unless you exported them from the app into common store like the sd card).
Second, you can set a PIN to the app itself. So, even if you have unlocked the key with your passphrase, the app locks itself after being idle for some time and asks for a pin. You can define the time before it locks itself in several steps (30s, 1m, 2m, 5m, 10m, 20m).
However, it is not free (costs ~1,60€) and its not open source. The devs (from Switzerland) claim to use the common NaCl-library for crypto, but you must trust their sayings.

Loading Phone And Messages Apps on a Verizon tab

I've been trying to use official samsung apps to do this but can't find the apk anywhere or find anyone whose done it. Verizon wants me to use their horrible messages+ app.
IIRC Verizon disabled the use of Samsung native messaging/phone apps on the LTE Tab S6 so they could use their own garbage. Hate that Verizon does this.
Possible workaround...use Google Messages app on your phone and the Message from Web feature to open via Chrome on the tab? I haven't tried this as I use Textra for messaging, however I suppose it should work...may need to turn on desktop version for the site to function correctly. Then just create a homescreen shortcut to the Messages site. Bonus: you get RCS support with other Google Messages users (though I'm not sure if/how this works via web...).

This is what I had to do, when you open the messages on the browser, look for an option to install the "browser extension" which is pretty much like an app. It's the way I use and works great, however, it does mirror what's in the phone so your phone must be on and online
Trying to figure this out myself. Can't get Textra or the stock Samsung Messages app onto the Verizon Tab S6.
Verizon has it gimped pretty bad.
I wonder if you pay off the device in full and contact them to unlock, would that possibly work? I know Verizon is notorious for doing stuff like that.
Verizon blocks the feature itself from their devices because they want to push users to use their crap Messages+ app...

You need to use Google's messages or Verizon's message+ for texting... Google's offering is a lot better but Messages+ allows for phone calls on the tab...
If you use Google Messages (it is what I use), you'll need to do mobile web and open the browser on the tablet, there will be a button by the address bar to download the "app" and it will from that point you'll have the messages app installed on your tablet.
Phone calls, you need to install call and text on other devices version 2.1.00.48 (ill check later to make sure thats the version). Download it from APK Mirror

I downloaded this version and not to be daft, but it's unclear to me if this needs to be installed on the phone, the tablet, or both. I am able to open it on the tablet but it fails to install.
Also, I have been messing with Message+ (as a Verizon user) for 3 days now, not liking it one bit. I did as you suggested with Google Messages and the shortcut, but as an FYI, I was using this shortcut/install app on my Windows 10 laptop already, so for myself, I have to confirm each time I try to open it for the first time on the other device. Both are using a web interface so it asks me to confirm that I want to receive messages from here...here being the tablet, or if I move back to the computer, then the computer. I'm not saying this well...basically you can't have Google Messages "open" in multiple locations via this web shortcut.
WHY does Verizon insist on being such jerks about this stuff. They don't even support their windows Message+ app anymore. So it's not even cross platform, yet they are strong arming you into using it as your primary texting app if you want access on a tablet. This is wrong on so many levels. And I haven't had any success with Your Phone, either. I had given up and resorted to using Message+ but I lost my ability to easily copy and paste pictures and bitmojis into my messages.
So long winded...but wanted to provide more information in case it might help someone else, and to inquire a bit on the app that was referenced. I downloaded the version you posted and it will install on the phone but not the tablet.
I got Call and Text on Other Devices installed on my note8 and preinstalled on my SM-P200 sammy tablet, but on my tablet it doesn't have the phone or messages app from samsung. Can anyone help?
