Using a z3v in 2019 - Xperia Z3v General

Hi everyone, very undereducated in rooting a phone and using ROMs but do know a nice phone when I see one. I had a z3v back in 2016-2017 and when it died I didn't think I could get another so I just bought a moto g6. Now it's about done and I was wondering if I bought another z3v of eBay would I be able to get Google play apps to work on it somehow? Thank you very much for your time, I did try searching around first.

how died?

Hello sir, I recently picked up my friend's old Z3V that was sitting around in a drawer and just last month actually set it up. It's running Marshmellow & the latest Play store apps with perfect Verizon service. Rooted, but uninstalled internet browsability for security purpoises.

Has V10 generalized problem with Boot Loop as G4?

There is a big anguish of the Lg V10 owners that V10 has the same boot loop problem as G4. There are some events (around net) that make this anguish bigger and bigger. Can we have a general real view for this theme?
I have had this phone since March and I have never noticed any problem. I am with Android – Marshmallow. Let us know if you had boot loop problem with your phone.
Let's hope that they are individual events and V10 will not appears the big boot loop problem as G4 has.
Seems to be an AT&T centric issue, I havent had a boot loop problem and I've owned my phone since Dec 2015. T-Mobile user here.
The boot loop issue seems weird because it would seem people experiencing this issue all at the same time. Like it's a date issue or server issue from AT&T.
I noticed that. How can effect the AT&T or other server my phone and has bootloop;
It seems to be a rumor only, some samsung fans might be posting such things on forums. Now when V20 is about to launch, such rumors are being spread. M using Tmobile H901 (Manufactured Oct 2015) and it is working perfectly fine on MM.
No boot loops here, I am sure it is the competition trying to hurt LG
The only problem I had, was that my V10 that I bought on launch day, microphone became very muffled. I Exchange it about 2 months ago, but no boot loop issue at all. My replacement is working great also!

There is a thread here where some owners post that their V10 had bootloop issues, but I believe that they are few cases according the sales of appliance, maybe I'm wrong. We will see...
I live in Switzerland (my provider is Sunrise, I bought the phone from a swiss online retailer called digitec, so there should be no ties to AT&T) and after doing a lot of research on potential audiophile phones I've decided to buy an LG V10 in May this year, and I dont regret doing it so far, it's a great device.
However about 2 weeks after I bought the phone a colleague of mine broke the screen by accident and I had to send the phone in and pay for it to get repaired. After they returned it to me I had something that appeared to be very similar to what you call a "boot loop" here in this thread. The phone constantly restarted on its own, in different intervals. I tried everything without success, but then after about 2 days (I had removed the battery for the whole night, don't know if this is relevant but I'll mention it anyway) when I was at a point where I was going to call the LG support helpline, I tried doing a hard reset one last time, and don't ask me why but the phone has not been in a boot loop since (that was about 1 or 2 weeks ago). All I did was hard reset the phone and install every software Update available. Just thought I'd mention this here because I am really wondering what caused this and I'm really hoping that I wont be encountering this issue again since I do not really know how I fixed it.

Hmmm mine is 5 Days Years Old .. I read alot of Articles via Internet .. I Hope v10 not as G4 .. But to be Updated check Android Authority's Article .. Read comments .. Also they send a statement to LG and waiting for Respond ..

the ATT model H900
Back in July my VS990 developed the bootloop issue. Sent to Verizon for warranty replacement. the 1st replacement had many issues that led to them sending a 2nd replacement unit. All good so far.
Bootloop
My phone from T-Mopile overheated and would not boot fully. I have long since had it replaced but no issues with the new device so far.
At least it doesnt explode like the Samsung Note 7
Head over to r/lgv10 on Reddit and you'll see dozends of reports in the sticky (including me) with my H901 (tmobile). Now I am on a H960A, but missing the missing 32GB.
I woke up this morning and grabbed my LG V10. Opened an app, then it froze, no response from any soft or hard buttons for about a minute, so I pulled the battery. Now I am the proud owner of a boot looping brick. ATT H900. It should still be under warranty, so I am going to try the ATT store this morning before class.
So I sent my bootlooped V10 H900 to LG and it says they replaced the main board. Hopefully that fixes the problem once and for all.

Update Problem

Hello All!
I am fairly new to the site, and not too tech savvy, but I'm having some problems with my Verizon LG V10 I bought about 3 months ago.
I bought the unit from eBay for 300 dollars in new condition (a steal if you ask me), and it's been working great, but I have been having issues updating my phone.
I am aware that Marshmallow is out for the V10 on Verizon, yet whenever I click on check for updates, it always says no upgrade is available.
As most of you probably know, Verizon phones are unlocked, and I am using an H20 sim card, putting the phone in international mode. My question is that I'm wondering if that is the problem, or is there something else?
Thanks for your help
I thought all the V10's shipped with Marshmallow.

They actually don't.
I bought this one off of ebay, and it came with 5.1.1
I even tried the Verizon Software Updater, and thought I had it, only to find out that nothing changed, I really want to get a hold of the battery life optimization in Marshmallow
You won't get Verizon updates on another network or outside North America.
Download the kdz and upgrade it yourself
please provide kdz file working link, nowhere i can find it.

Level with me...how screwed am I?

Okay, I got a good one for you guys and I'm hoping someone can give me an idea I haven't thought of yet. Here's the scenario:
I owned a Rogers Samsung Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925W8) that I passed down to my best friend when I bought a Pixel XL last fall. While it was still my daily driver, I had gotten tired of waiting for Rogers to push the Marshmallow OTA to their customers while other carriers had already sent it out so I went on over to SamMobile and downloaded the 6.0.1 firmware from Eastlink, installed it on my device using Odin and went on to enjoy my life with the latest version of Android.
Flash forward a little more than a year and my friend is still using the S6 edge as his daily driver but a couple months ago, the USB port stopped working. Not the end of the world at the time as I had given him my wireless charger with the phone and that still works just fine. When Rogers released the Nougat update for the S6 edge, my buddy mentioned that he hadn't gotten it yet but I thought it would just be a matter of time until he got the notification that it was ready to download.
Towards the end of August, news broke that certain Samsung devices on the Rogers network would no longer be able to call 911 due to network enhancements that they were planning in the fall https://mobilesyrup.com/2017/08/30/android-6-x-lower-samsung-devices-911-calls-rogers/ Okay, no big deal we're thinking except Rogers has sent out a text message in the past week stating that any affected devices not updated by October 26, 2017 will have LTE network access removed to ensure that they can still access 911 services. Okay, so let's load up that OTA update already right? Well it just dawned on me today that since I had loaded the Eastlink firmware, that's why he's not seeing the OTA update from Rogers.
So now we gotta figure out how we're going to address this problem. He's going to take it to a repair shop in the morning to see how much it is to fix the USB port so that we can update it using Odin but he's obviously not looking to spend too much to repair a 2.5 year old phone. In the worst case scenario that the USB port cannot be repaired, what I want to know is what are my options? Will changing the CSC of the device back to Rogers result in the OTA update appearing for the device (despite the obvious downside of the device having to be factory reset and not being able to do a full, proper backup because no USB port)? Does anyone know if the Rogers (or Eastlink) OTA zip file is available to download like with Nexus/Pixel devices? (I'm doubtful but have to ask. Any other suggestions?
Thanks for reading my lengthy post and thanks in advance for any help that you can provide

I'm almost certain the only way to flash any firmware to s6 edge or any Samsung device is through Odin. So usb port will be needed.
You can download the firmware but not as a zip to install OTA.
Another thing is you need root to change the CSC. Again which needs usb port so you can flash twrp on to it.
You can pick up usb ports pretty cheap nowadays so maybe just be best to repair it and flash it through Odin.

Umidigi Z2 Special Edition

I recently purchased this phone coming from a Moto G4 plus(which was a year if hell)and cost to performance, I'm very happy with it. It came unlocked
and is one if the only phones I found that works both in GSM and CDMA networks. I have not rooted or unlocked the bootloader as of yet and it's running on Oreo 8.1 which updated itself OTA upon first boot. The cameras front and back are very good(better than the Z2, same as Z2 Pro) and I could ramble on about it's specs but this is not the place, I don't believe.
My question is this, I've noticed that it came already encrypted or at least that's what it shows in settings. I haven't yet inserted an SD card since I'm using 2 sims and I don't know if that would make a difference or not but I wanted to see if anyone here is familiar or has run into this kind of thing before?
Please let me know if any more info is needed and thank you in advance!

New phone for friend on straight-talk... Need advice...

I'm getting my friend a new phone for their birthday. I haven't rooted a phone in a while since I've been using verizon branded Moto phones and they don't allow the bootloader to be unlocked...
My friend has straight talk service with the $65 plan... I want to purchase a good phone that I can root and enable / spoof hotspot data as they're disabled with fixed income and can't afford internet at home for their kids tablet to work for netflix.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I like the unlocked moto G6 but I know there's not a reliable custom rom yet.
