Android 10 Exchange Email Issue - "Security Update Required" - Please Help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

PROBLEM
Just installed Android 10 on Pixel 3 XL
Gmail app for my Exchange email account is notifying me: "Security Update Required"
Clicking the notification opens the Gmail app and gives me a prompt to "Update Now"
Clicking "Update now" on the prompt crashes the app and brings back the notification referenced above
Not sure if related but I've noticed Gmail is no longer listed as a "Device Admin"
WHAT I'VE TRIED
Different combinations of deleting account, deleting and reinstalling Gmail updates, clearing data/cache
Factory reset
Calling Pixel support
I'm at my wit's end...please help!

Same issue here, on a 3a. Removed and re-added the account to no avail. I'm unfortunately using the Outlook app as a workaround for now. One theory I have is that it's due to the age of the Exchange server (2010) we're using.

Guys - This self resolved for me and others (it appears). Thanks to all.

[Q] Gmail not loading in email client

At first my gmail would all load completely fine. As of about a week ago it will do everything but actually load message text. It notifies me of new mail, shows me the inbox with all new mail in it, all my folders, everything. When I click on a message it shows the sender, subject, and any attachments, but in place of the actual message is an error stating it cant load it and gives me an option to reload, which doesn't do anything.
I've uninstalled all the patches and such I've installed from preware that were the most recent which hasn't fixed anything. I've removed the account and added the account back a couple times a couple different ways all with the same result.
Anybody got any ideas?
I had this for all my email accounts after installing the Muffle Logging patch. I am pretty sure just removing the patch doesn't fix it and I had to do a Cleardown to resolve the issue. I went to Device Info, hit Reset Options and then Full Erase. After a long wait while it reset to factory defaults I had to set it up again, but it re-downloaded the Apps from the App Catalog automatically.
hell yeah. did this and it works great now. thanks!

[Q] "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly"

Hi all
I've a stock UK TF201running 2.6.39.4-00003 - xxxxx
My tablet used to update everything really swiftly and check the registered email account regularly. However, for the last 8 weeks or so, my calander hasn't updated and emails come through as and when. Quite often Gmail closes of it's own accord on opening with an error message allowing me to report it. I've been sending these off regularly but no remedy has been forwarded.
When I look at the "Account & Sync" page under settings, I see taht the Google account has a red sync circle by it instead of a green one (as I have on the Skype below it). Tapping on the @gmail.com account shows "Sync Browser", "Sync Calander", "Sync Contacts" and "Sync Gmail" all with a apostrophe by them and a check mark ticked. "Sync Google Photos" and "Sync Picsa Web Albums" however do not have a syncy symbol or the apostrophe but do have the checked symbol. At the bottom of the page almost like a note, there is the sync symbol with an apostrophe and the message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".
Does anyone else have this or know how to rectify it? I've looked through the web and a number of phones running Gingerbread say to enable background data to get rid of this. I'm on ICS and this option is not available.
As another diagnostic test, I tried adding another gmail account that I have. This also shows exactly the same symptoms as my existing google account "experiencing problems back shortly" message.
It is very frustrating and I really don't think that Google are going to provide a solution seeing as it's been ongoing for over 2 months and they haven't even acknowledged this as a problem. Having said that, it may just be that some of my settings need amending or something.
Desperate for your advice and suggestions.
Regards

Phone Contacts Disappear Daily Using Google Sync

I am running on the latest stock Verizon firmware on my Note 2. Starting last week I've been having this very annoying issue where at least once a day, all my contacts will disappear on my phone. I am using my Google contacts as my only source of contacts, it is a fairly simple contact list with no extra labels or anything complicated involved. When the contacts disappear, I go under settings --> (accounts) Google --> my gmail account, and see an error under Contacts stating "Sync error: Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Hitting "Sync Now" again and again will not clear this error. When I restart my phone, the sync will work and my contacts will return, but after a day this error will occur again and my contact list disappears.
I have tried removing my google account from the phone, restarting, and readding the account without success. I have tried going under settings --> application manager and deleting the cache for the phone, contact list, and messanger without any effect. I have also tried completely resetting the phone and starting from scratch without any success as well.
It is sad because I have never had this issue before on my previous android phone (Droid X) and it is making me want to throw this phone against the wall!
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Try downloading app "Contacts Sync Fix" from the Play store. Worked for me!

Problem solved: I have an application called Call Control Pro that blocks telemarketer phone numbers. Apparently there was a bug that caused all contacts to disappear requiring a reboot for them to come back, process then repeats daily. They fixed the issue in the latest update. Thank goodness, because I was being driven crazy by this issue.

[Q] Problems with google services (hangouts, calendar, Chrome, login error nag)

Hi
I just got a new phone (Xperia Z Ultra), but whenever i try to login to my google account, the following happen.
The login works.
Hangouts fail with the following: "Couldnt sign in possible because theres a problem with google account permissions"
Chrome fail with: "Unable to sign in"
Calendar, music widget and information about people doesn't sync.
Google Now fails: "Network error"
Google+ fails: Could not connect to server
Google Play Games just close when opening.
and i keep having a yellow triangle in my notification shade: "Login error for --email--"
I have tried both stock, CM and PA.
I would be really really grateful if someone could come up with a fix!
Thanks
Just remove your Google account and sign in again I hope it helps

i usually have to let google services update after flashing and then re-installing the apps from the store.
Did you get the issue resolved? I'm having the same issues on my toroplus, after updating to official 4.3, have tried reflashing back to 4.2, factory reset... but no joy here.
have also tried removing and re-adding my google account
possible cause and fix
I had a hunch that it was something to do with my account security settings
Go to your Google account on the web, click on Security on the left menu, and look at the "Connected applications and sites" section (click on "review permissions")
I had an epic number of entries in there - so I started revoking access for a lot of duplicates, including about a dozen entries for Android Login Service (the downside of repeatedly rooting & ROMing, i guess).
1 reboot of my phone later, was asked to re-enter my password, and...
problems gone bye-bye! everything is syncing again.
I hope this helps others.
After hours of no sleep Thank you dannydpx
Best thread ever

Had a problem with goggle now on my Galaxy tab. Would crash out on starting. So I uninstalled google now, then reinstalled WITHOUT the latest google now update All worked fine! Applied the latest update, again crashing out.
So uninstalled and re-installed again as above, but without the latest update, all working !
had several duplicated entries from my Galaxy S3, and i have removed them all. Also i removed the one from my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013.
Nothing seems to correct the issue with Google Now. Everything else works just fine..
i fixed all accounts by removing them form the permissions in the security area. the only app that does not want to connect at all is Google hangouts. does anyone have any other idea?
Please?! thanks in advance

[Q] Google+ contacts not in "People" app

Hi everybody.
I just noticed something very weird. I made a fresh install with complete wipe of Cyanogenmod 11 M10 some days ago, and I was setting all the apps; when I came to the "People" app I noticed that Google+ contacts were not being shown. I checked the setting in the Google+ app, the one that says "keep my contacts updated" or something like that (my system is in Italian), and it was correctly ticked, as well as every voice in the Google account sync page in the settings.
I tried almost everything: uninstall Google+ app updates and update again, removing and re-adding my Google account, rebooting, removing the flag from the options and adding them again.. nothing.
In the People app, under "contacts to show" (again, this is a translation, I don't know the exact name in English), I only see listed WhatsApp, Google, and Exchange account. No sign of Google+, where I remember there was before.
Anyone has got a clue? Or maybe things are supposed to be like this now and everything's fine.. how is it on your phones?
Thanks in advance.
