Hi everyone,
I recently bought an LG G8 (AT&T, unlocked) on eBay to use with Freedom Mobile in Canada. Prior to purchase, Freedom Mobile reps assured me that the specific model I was getting (LM-G820UM) was compatible.
Overall, the phone is working great, but the option for WiFi calling is greyed out. I went to the Freedom Mobile repair center and they said I need "some software that they forget the name of that is specific to all carriers to be overwritten onto my phone." I have no idea what this is or how to do it. Any tips?
Thank you very much!

Dellvoice.ca has an android app that will give you a canadian phone number.
You can run an old (or new) android phone on a wifi network for free.
So your phone can run without a sim and be able to intiate or receive calls
using the free dell phone number provided.
I'm not sure what other countries have this service yet I. I just know it just came to Canada.
I recently bought a phone from the u.s.a. I managed to root the phone and now it is working great on my canadian sim card.
Here is the phone details:
Phone: Verizon Note 2
Mode: SCH-I605
Android version: 4.4.2
Baseband version: I605VRUFND7
This phone is rooted and now on a canadian simcard.
The only problem i found this morning is that i cannot share my mobile data. Here is the problem:
Every time turn on "Mobile Hotspot"
I get this screen:
Checking subscription status... then Mobile number not found
So i am unable to use share my data connection to my laptop. I had a canadian note 2 before this and mobile data worked fine.
How could i enable mobile hotspot? Is there a crack somewhere?
woo hoo!! i found a solution.
Those big cellphone companies make me angry.
Thank you very much to the developer. There is a lot of great developers here. Everytime i come here it seems someone has developed something to take care of my solution such as root etc.
I never donate to charites. But for there hard work i always donate to developers. I hope everyone else does too.

Hi all,
pleasure to be here, I bought a used LG G5 because I needed a phone to connect via Tello (Sprint), long story short I was able to connect the phone with Tello but my issue is that if the phone is on LTE I cant make any calls/texts, I get an error message saying: Mobile network is unavailable but internet on LTE works fine. if I switch from LTE to CDMA (3G) I'm able to make phone calls/Texts but I'm not able to user the internet. Tello it's been working with me on this issue since December, I've been researching on this issue all over the internet with no luck. today tello called me and told me that the issue is on the phone and that I should take it to a repair shop, I'm not sure what the repair shop will do to fix this so that's why I'm here looking for your PRO help. any help is appreciated.

I have a similar issue, but it is a Sprint phone and I need WiFi Calling and VoLTE on T-Mobile to work.
Hi,
I'm in South Africa and I bought a SM-G991U1 (US unlocked version) on Amazon Renewed and everything works fine except for mobile connectivity.
I get the "Your phone's not registered on a network" message if I try to make a call and mobile data does not work.
I've tried:
- Resetting network settings
- Manually setting APN details
- Tried a few other SIMs from different carriers as well that work in other phones
- Checked IMEI info, doesn't seem corrupted or 'null'
I suspect that the modem firmware or something else is region specific to the US on this model and not working on South African networks as the phone does support our network bands according to GSMarena.
Would it be possible to re-flash the modem firmware or fix the issue some other way?
Hello I'm having the same problem, have you find any info about it?
Not much, I went to a carrier store and the phone seemed to work alright there after rebooting the phone with the sim card installed. I am starting to suspect that the phone doesn't like my closest cell tower maybe? Or possibly doesn't like using another carrier's mobile tower?
No idea.
I've since bought an identical but South African version of the same S21 which works flawlessly.
As a quick rant for anyone considering buying from Amazon: I tried to return the phone, shipping it back to the US and everything, only for Amazon to refuse to pay the import duties on it once it arrived, forcing DHL send it right back and charging me for it again
