Hey guys, as after miui 11 update phone had became laggy so i thought of switching to custom rom, as this is my parent's phone so please suggest me a stable rom with good battery backup.
Hi there,
There are couple of good options according to my experience:
AEX 6.7 - based on Pie Android. Smooth and almost every function works (green picture when taking photo with Whatsapp or Messenger - but this is there in every Pie based ROM.) Kernel flash is necessary to have good battery life - I flashed Dark Ages what worked well.
ion os 2.2 - comes with preflashed kernel - i believe the battery life is good. Bluetooth doesn't work good on my speakers, but runs nicely on headsets. Camera works on Whatsapp. Didn't recognize any issues so far expect the Bluetooth.
You might want to check out Havoc 2.9 as well - but i do not have any information about this OS.
Hope this helps.

No everything is fine
Edit: Screen cast isn't working though
Havoc os and nitrogen os are both great stable android 10 based roms that I use myself.

Hey guys, just wanted to share.
I tried many roms (PA, CM, Omni, S5 Sensations etc) and I always find something missing/not working properly.
sometimes its the battery draining too fast, sometimes just random crashes and so on.
I'm thinking of going back to stock. I have the i9300 and the latest stock one is 4.3 (boooooo).
Has anyone done this route before? someone here also gone back from roms to stock?
Will be nice to hear others opinion.
Thanks :cyclops:

Even stock ROMs can be plagued by similar issues to be honest.
To minimise the irritations I always clean flash any ROM that I install and restore only apps, not data.
I'm currently rocking this stock based KK ROM port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-qs-i9300-kk-t2755841
with version 6.2 of this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/kernel-boeffla-kernel-5-2-27-03-2014-t1964572
without any problems, it is certainly no less stable or functional than pretty much every factory Samsung ROM I have ever used.
If you do want to go back to 4.3 stock based ROM, I have always found Imperium http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37656328&postcount=2 to be pretty much perfect as a reliable, stable daily driver, using the stock kernel with a moderate profile (set in Aroma) I could easily get the thick end of 2 days off a charge under light use but with wifi always on and a bunch of apps like eBay, K9, Gmail, BBC weather syncing in the background.

i also wanted to go back to stock rom for camera and music app
but multitasking is awful in stock rom
also after using stock rom for couple of hours you started to feel lag
lag in dialer, camera and gallery is unbearable
so currently i am using neatrom aosp as primary rom and smartdroid kk v1 as secondary rom
with arters dual boot kernel

Hey, you nailed it - main lag is within camera, gallery & dialer.
in Touchwiz i imminently replace the stock dialer with eXdialer, and the stock gallery with QuickPic.
I also been trying almost all the 4.3./4.4/5.02 but 4.3 stock base is the most stable and trouble free rom for me .
I cant stand whenever you want to snap a important picture the camera crash and need to restart.or phone freeze .
My favourites are 1- SMART DROID Simple v9.9 2-JustArchi_I9300XXUGNG3 3-NCSSROM NK2
#1 & 3 are heavily debloated + CROSSBREEDER it flys

Hi. I am experiencing often reboot or hanging of my phone after I flush CM12 rom. Is there a fix available for this issue? Below are some details of my phone. TIA.
CM 12.1-20160302-NIGHTLY-t6
Android ver. 5.1.1
Kernel version: 3.4.110-ge25622c
I am on CM 12.1-20160316-NIGHTLY-t6 and everything is working great, was on 15 but updated it to 16.
Stable, fast and very responsive with apps like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and others.

Looks like CM 12.1-20160316-NIGHTLY-t6 fixed the issue for me. Its more stable now compared to the previous updates I used. Thanks.
I am currently on MIUI 7 global stable and want to flash CM13. Can you please guide me to which are the options I have currently for :
- Good calls and call volume (I use 3G only..no LTE)
- Bluetooth pairing and music through bluetooth headphones
- Working Camera
- Fingerprint (I have a FPC102..checked via AIDA64)
No offense but I saw most of the devs mentioning in the bugs section "You Tell" but there are some ifs and buts..
I already have TWRP flashed..
Most of you might have already tried all the ROMS..hence asking your opinion..thank you dear friends and the wonderful devs
Official CM13 has almost no problems for me (I say almost because I haven't encountered any that haven't been fixed in a day or two). Fingerprint is faster than MIUI tbh. Must be because fingerprint is baked-in in android marshmallow. Don't have to bother with MIUI force closing apps (torrent apps always closed after some time in MIUI) . Multitasking is great! With MIUI my phone felt like a 1.5 GB phone with its aggressive memory handling. Regarding camera the camera quality may have degraded slightly or it may just be placebo. But the MIUI camera app is definitely nicer and faster. That's the only thing I'm missing from MIUI. Some people have problems like fingerprint not working (even if Aida show FPC102), battery always stuck at 2% or 50%, led not working etc with official Cm13 but none of those problems for me . So stability would probably depend upon your luck.
I haven't tried Santosh's CM13 as it is said to lock bootloader again. I have tried resurrection remix but some bugs like recent apps showing even Android system (which has been present since resurrection lollipop in all devices. It doesnt hinder much but Android system is not supposed to show in recent apps. To understand what I'm talking about, when you open say a YouTube link it shows menu for which app you would like to open the link with and even that will be present in the recent apps.) and data not working ( data may be fixed by now though). I haven't tried other because Official one satisfied me very much.
Try the official one for once and see if you have any bugs. If not restore MIUI. MIUI 8 is coming and it seems it has some cool features but nothing to bring me back to MIUI.
I am using CM/LineageOS since one year and it's snappier than the stock rom one year ago. Did the stock rom improve since than? I experience currently much lag and bluetooth issues (sound on headset stops to work on calls and phone needs a restart). What's actually the bottleneck in 5X which is cousing the lags? I have many apps installed: fb/messenger, whatsapp, podcast apps and some moos apps whis massive downloads (coursera, udemy, edx) - (downloads on sd card). Is current stock rom better than lineageOS?

I used Custom ROM for a long time. But not as good as stock ROM.
Stock rom is very good. And more stable. Have better battery life. Custom rom is a fast battery drain. I returned to stock. And in performance mode. Stable and fast. I recommended stock ROM.
Try out Cosmic OS and AOSPE. From my experience, these ROMs provide almost lagless, stable and 4Hours SOT on heavy use.

I am too using my phone as a daily driver. Cosmic OS is pretty stable and fluid. I once used cosmic os for straight month. Then I changed because I have a bad habit of repeatedly changing ROMs.
If you want to try out cosmic OS, don't install any other mods like kernel modification and etc. Just stick with what's provided. In the end, its your choice but I will not suggest going back to stock ROM.

what are the differences to lineage os? I am generaly happy with lineage os, battery life is good, the lag starts when many apps are installed so actually I attribute it to hardware limitations. bluetooth has some annoying issues (sound interferences and sound stopping to work on calls)

I have used LOS 14.1 for about 2 weeks before switching to Cosmic. Main difference is that cosmic provides more customization. Personally, even with about 50 3rd party apps installed I never experienced lags or slow loading. And about radios, cosmic is stable enough to provide stutter free experience.
You should give it a try. And don't forget about FStrim and Greenify application from play store.

How to fix annoying crashing of Google camera in oreo ROMs -> used two ROMs
->Pixel experience 8.1
->NitrogenOS
Build - BSGs latest build of 14-1-2018 (also happens on older other versions by aronova and BSG)
Viewfinder lags and instantly crashes on when clicking a photo. Then it keeps on crashing for 2-3 times.
After that it becomes stable for sometime when used in one go. It doesn't happen in low light conditions
No such crashing issue was witnessed by me on nougat
Also how Can I get slo-mo on my MIDO
Moto camera used to give me nice slo mo videos on Nougat Paranoid
But it doesn't seem to work on Oreo
And the third thing . How to get MIUI camera on an oreo custom ROM.

You probably have an OmniVision sensor. Old drivers used in custom ROMs are very buggy in Oreo. That’s about to change soon.
For now, look here.
