Half the items I read about the Xp Z tab say that the front is Gorilla Glass, the other half say it's not! I am paranoid about not scratching the screen but I have just installed a protector and am disappointed about the adverse effect the protector has on the screen quality - it has a definite opacity. My dilemma is that I am a heavy note taker and have been waiting to trying the Jot Pro - but only with a protector. Can any one categorically advise what the screen is made of and whether or not it is totally scratch resistant? If so, I may do away with the protector
Thanks
Whether the glass is Gorilla glass or not, I don't know. Since I don't like the opacity of plastic screen protectors, I'm using a Spigen GlassT protector. Quite expensive but looks and feels great.

Interesting - where did you get it? I can't find it through googling.
A quick Google search reveals several reviews which state it's Gorilla glass.
Didn't think it was personally.

Did you take off the factory fitted anti-shatter sheet before applying your screen protector ?

There was a very obvious sheet of cellophane that I removed. Was there another? Nothing else came off when pulled off the new screen protector. (I tried a protector but couldn't stand the reduced definition).

Bought it on Ebay, or you can check Spigen's webshop. I didn't remove the anti-shatter sheet before applying the glass protector. Its presence is hardly noticable.

I'm having some serious thoughts about removing the anti-shatter film. When I use the screen on my Nexus 4 (which doesn't have a protective film) it just feels that little bit smoother and nicer than using the Tablet Z....you know, I can't quite put my finger on it ...
I heard that Sony uses Dragontrail glass panel instead of Corning Gorilla glass.
The glass itself is under anti-shatter film.
The screen scratches easely. I can't believe it has corning gorilla glass or something similar.
A protective sheet is recomended!

It's covered by a protective sheet already, that is what scratches easily to keep the scratch proof glass below from shattering, supposedly... kind of ironic if you ask me.

This, though a genuine question, is a moot one. The only man made glass that will not scratch (except by a diamond) is sapphire glass and its next in hardness to diamond. As no phone or tablet to date has sapphire glass all other glass will and does scratch.
There are some truly awful screen protectors but also some very very good ones. To ensure you don't scratch your screen I would respectfully and strongly suggest you fit a screen protector.
I am unsure anyone outside the Sony factory knows what glass they use. Its immaterial in any case but I do agree I have zero idea why Sony is the only high end mobile brand that does not give their customers this information. I find it rather annoying, I think we are entitled to such information.
Regards.

If you think about this.....the latest Sony products are all water resistant. Think on, this means that people will use them either sitting by water or even while sitting IN water. If you broke that glass while in your bath how would you feel about maneuvering your naked butt out of the tube with a splintered sheet of glass shards sitting on your lap and under your fishing tackle.
As bad would be the cost of emptying a swimming pool?!
A company like Sony would not fit an anti shatter proof membrane if it was not required and well thought out, why would they?
prevention is better than cure or education from with hindsight.

Good thing I didn't say it was useless, only ironic. I agree with your points, but still feel the right to share my opinion on it, and I think it is ironic that they used such a scratch-prone covering... especially since most screens will get scratched, while shattering is rare (they may crack, but rarely do shards of glass come out, the adhesive holds the broken pieces pretty well). I, for one, abhor plastic screens/protectors, when glass provides a much better touch based experience.

I also found the shatter proof membrane soft. It is litigation in todays society that leads brands to cover their backs. It is the "Rare" occasion you mention that could cost Sony millions.
I have read several posts where members remove the shatter proof coating. I suggest this unwise but once you buy the product it belongs to its owner and the owner must then take responsibility for the device and its behaviour IF the glass breaks.
To me its the screen material and battery life that hold the real advances in this area back. The sooner we have some real decent 'glass' at a cost effective price and a battery that can cope with the devastating rate of technological progress I will be a happier chappie.
The most odd thing to me is owning all this wonderful technology yet it working only for a few hours per day without a charge?

Most are just tempered glass with adhesive on one side and oleophobic coating on the other. My understanding is that they put an extra layer into the rhinoshield, a plastic layer under the glass. That will absorb and dissipate impact forces.
I'm working from memory here, I think this is what their kickstand page said a few months ago. I didn't see this description today, but their current description implies it.

they also state on their site that the max hardness of there products go up to 3h..sounds outdated and over priced when the avaverage tg screen protector around the same price has all those features + a hardness avg of 7-9h...for example i am using the mime feather glass on my note 3...free shipping plus you can add an aluminum button for 1 dollar on top of that.

I have the Mime and love it. There are no signs of bubbles or lifting edges, and it feels great without the extra button. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it as much with the extra button. The only thing about it i don't like is the wide cutout for the speaker plus sensors.
There are cheaper models that seem to be the same as the Mime at a much lower price, but if I picked a new one today I'd probably get the Rhinoshield.

Get the Spigen Glas.tr. It's solid. I have it and am really surprised at how sturdy, clear, and responsive it is. No smudges or scratches either.

i am quite surprised there haven't been threads with people experimenting with glass protectors and plastic protectors on their own. either way it's redundant but on the other hand can extend the longevity of the glass protectors if having glass isn't your number one priority.
Update: 5 months use and it cracks for little reason other than poor construction
See current post
UPDATE: Now available for limited preorder at MIME - Thank you MIME and everyone who helped make this a reality!
UPDATE: mime has a glass protector "in development" according to their website, and an OP reports mime should have it ready next week (week of April 1st). I'll update again once it is available. Yea!
After getting the real glass screen protector for my wife's ipad air and the gumdrop bounce skin for it, I don't know if I would want to use any tablet without them. The real glass makes for the most amazing interaction with the device and the bounce skin I find perfect for a tablet, I don't need the extra plastic frame, just a thick silicone skin with oversized corner protection.
Does anyone know if there is a coming glass screen cover?
I can't locate any. I'm going to send an email to MIME to see if they have it scheduled. I agree, once you go glass, you can never go back to plastic protectors.
I also have a glass protector for my note 2 . Glass is so much nicer, waiting for some to be announced as well. I did buy a plastic protector in the meantime don't want to risk scratching the screen while I wait for the good stuff

Thank you for doing this Mike! I replied, and I hope others keep it up and request the glass, even if they are only thinking about it. If you ever try using glass, you will see why absolutely no plastic is comparable. It must be glass or it sucks. I personally wipe mine down frequently, I just have to have that mirror surface. We can debate about if it is better to use TMS-Cl to coat it (think rain-X for a car window, which is likely what the "oleophobic coating" is) [gotta love marketing guys] or just plain glass, but it must be glass. Nothing else will do, it does not matter if you are kinesthetic dominant or not in your learning style, glass is just better.
Hopefully we can get someone to make the glass protector.
Sent my request. I had no idea these existed, but I had a single grain of sand scratch my screen on my A700 and have felt shame for allowing that to happen ever since. Spending twice as much on this device, I'm going to protect every little bit of it.
I have probably tried at least 10 different types of screen protectors and NOTHING is better than real glass. I''ll take my chances until a real glass protector is released.
Thanks for pestering MIME. Hopefully they will make these for us.

Do you have this? Since it is plastic I don't trust it, I think it will scratch even though it give a hardness value that is pretty high. Too expensive for a plastic film for me. My GUESS is that it will also not "feel right" to me, plastic always has a wave to it. You need plate glass to get that perfectly smooth surface. Sometimes I've gotten away with using plexiglass (fiberglass plastic) for a flat surface (most notably building a dead flat magic sculpt rectangle that would not warp in high heat when I baked the model I was making), but still its tricky, glass is much much better to me. Also by saying it will get scratched, my glasses get scratched and they are made from similar material and even have the scratch resistant coating on them. My ski goggles get scratched, and those micro fine scratches build up fast. This is why I constantly demand glass for my touch sensitive devices. Heck my 3 year old thinkpad convertible tablet screen (non-glass) has micro scratches and marks on it and I only infrequently use it as a tablet (b/c it is not intuitive like the current tablets).
If you have it and it works really well, please let me know, but I just have a feeling that it is overpriced and will scratch.
I have that companies nano.t glass for my S4 because at the time it was the only thin glass I could find that would fit under the otterbox defender case (all other glass products were too thick). It is a nice product, but I got the TechPro glass for my wife's ipad at <1/3 their price and it is magic for the ipad air. I like that companies products, but I think they are priced a bit too high. They have great marketing, so good for them, but I'll go to someone cheaper if I can, its all glass underneath and I can apply my own TMS-Cl if I need to.
I told MIME in my request that I would buy all my future glass from them if they made this, and I will. Supporting companies that make good products is the only way to encourage them to keep going with making new good products.
For a tablet I feel like I would want the thicker glass, but I don't care, I just want a real glass protector for this tablet when I get the LTE version as soon as it comes out. I want a tablet I can read a scientific paper on at full size (or just about). Just like the comic book guys want to read comics at full size. I figure by supporting the development of this size tablet, the weight will come down rapidly in a generation or two, and the computing power will rise dramatically too.
I'll thank everyone who goes and requests the glass protector and then posts that they did it in this thread. Hopefully we will all get what we want, a glass screen protector. If you made it this far, thanks for reading!

Whenever I hear this, all I think is marketing. The key quote for me is this "to protect the screen of your Samsung Galaxy Note PRO 12.2 or Galaxy Tab PRO 12.2 from scratches" - I translate this as "protect the note pro screen", it does not say or mean 'provide a scratch free surface to write/interact with' which is what they WANT YOU TO THINK it means, but it is not. Plastic will scratch and gather up micro scratches on it and it will not be perfectly flat like glass so it will be less than ideal to work with. I agree with the statement someone made that I'm spending a lot of money on this, I'm willing to go a little bit more to get a quality glass screen protector. [I will also likely buy a cheap, cheap cheap plastic film until then.]
I think of it as writing on the surface like it was meant to be (the surface is glass) so covering it with glass duplicates it but if I scratch the glass protector, I can peel it off and replace it, unlike the original screen surface. Nothing will be perfect at protecting from damage, but a glass protector will be as perfect as it gets. It is also my guess that people who don't think glass is worth it, just have not tried it yet (that would be my highest %, with some other stragglers as 'don't care about a protector', 'don't have the money to get glass', 'don't understand why they need a protector' [not stupid people, but just aren't cynical/experiences enough to realize they will scratch stuff until it happens and then they don't like it and can't do anything about it], or finally 'insensitive to the glass/plastic differences or minimal interaction with device').
I'm going to write to MIME again and say that with the consumers that are willing to spend a premium chunk of money on this device, will likely be either willing to or demand to spend a premium chunk of money on the ideal screen protector (meaning glass). Just like grocery stores (by the use of rewards cards) figured out that people who spend the extra money to buy organic milk will also spend the money to by organic mushrooms and other high profit items that people who just want to buy regular milk will not want to buy. So by spending the space and money to cater to these customers who demand premium products, they can make more money (and good profit) by carrying other premium products. Not everyone buys them, but the people who buy them tend to purchase other similar items. The Note Pro 12.2 is an expensive tablet,we want quality in it (high amounts of screen real estate) and are willing to pay for it. Since we are willing to spend a little more for it, I bet as a group we are willing to spend a little more to buy the "best damn screen protector surface" that we can afford. Maybe that is it we want to buy a surface, not just a protector. We want to buy an experience, the kinesthetics of fluid user/device interaction. To get the best interaction point you need glass, you just can't get it with plastic. Its not just a protector its surface interaction we want. I'll send this to MIME, maybe their marketing people can use it. With plastic you get a screen protector, with glass you get a true surface.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who is posting and for writing to MIME to help get this made for us high end tablet users. The days are dragging by until the LTE comes out and I can buy it. I want it NOW (with glass and a gumdrop bounce brand skin).
No I don't have the Spigen for the note 12.2 but have had it on other devices and it is very nice. No drag with a stylus. . I also have used zagg often on my phones and really like them mainly for the ease of installation. I Would really like to try the Mime but who knows their time frame to have it ready.
I have used Zagg screen protectors. I did not like them. They have a sticky feel that annoys the heck out of me. Glass or naked for my devices.

Sent MIME an email as well. Got a thank you response from them in a couple of hours. Here's hoping!
In the meantime I ordered a ghost shield from them for my son's moto x.
I have the steinheil, and it is smooth but not oleophobic at all so it shows fingerprints and has more glare. Ideally I would like to see spigen come out with a glass product like what I have for my gs4. The glass.tr I have for that is clear, smooth, Casey reduced glare, and is oleophobic. As a result, friends I see on a regular basis ask me repeatedly if I got my phone replaced because it always looks brand new.

Hello,
Any one has bought YU Tempered Glass Screen Guard for Yureka AO5510.
If yes please tell us a bit about it.
The tempered glass is of high quality. perfect in size, quality and other specifications, and more over it's cheap!
The edges of the glass are slightly curved. Thus it have a better feel when swiping through corners.
Also packing was great and it also includes wet, dry and a blue sticker to remove all the dirt and oil from the screen. For an additional 50 bucks, they place the glass perfectly on your screen.
but you dont require a screen protector . its gorilla glass .
Better be prepared for the worst than feeling Sorry later. Right?
Gorilla glass 3 is good but lets not take any chances. If something happens even somehow you made a scratch it will be difficult to replace the entire screen. Well in my opinion its far too easy to replace a tempered glass protector considering the availability of service . Lets not take any chances folks. I already bought a nilikin case and installed a screen protector came with the phone. I was looking forward to buy one tempered glass screen protector.
Any Info about,OneAssist YU Assure Accidental Damage Protection. ??
Does any one knows how this works ?? How there service is offered. A detailed description would be much appreciated.
I think it's a better option to go with syska gadget secure as it also provides theft insurance for 200 extra.

Even Gorilla Glass 3 gets scratched with fine specs if dirt. If for some reason it slides face down on a dusty table, it can show the scratches. It is scratch resistant but not scratch proof. tempered glass, over a period of time will also have scratches on them, but not as fast as normal silicone scratch guards.

Unless you take the help of a pen to use the touchscreen, the provided screen guard is more than sufficient!
Does anyone know if I can use any other 5.5. inch phone's gorilla glass screen protector for yureka's screen? I have the phone and the screen protector that came along with it but I don't have access to the market to get its original gorilla glass thingy. I was thinking maybe I could do some modification to any other similar sized protector and fit it into the yureka screen?
Need suggestions for buying tempered glass for yureka

where to avail the service ?
Hey Riyapant, you said "For an additional 50 bucks, they place the glass perfectly on your screen."
Can you let us know where and how to avail this service? I bought the tempered glass screen protector for my Yureka from amazon.in and wouldn't mind spending Rs. 50/- more for getting it perfectly applied.
thx in adv..

Hello mailsaku,
Its easy to apply the tempered glass screen protector unlike the normal screen protectors. As you can easily remove and reapply it without any issues. I had to remove it from my old yureka (as i had hard bricked it) and apply it on the new replacement it worked very well even in that case. So its even more easier if u r applying it for the first time. Just follow the instructions provided with the product.
Review of Original Leather Back Cover & Tempered Glass
I got the leather back cover along with the device. The cover feels good but has a little issue that unlike other covers that rise a little above the screen, it doesn't. Thus I applied a tempered glass to prevent damage to the edges of the screen.
As I see a lot of you are confused about the Tempered glass application process and is it worth buying, I'd say its fairly easy to apply the tempered glass as well as the screen protector by simply following the instructions on the pack. Also some tutorials are available on YouTube on how to apply them. Why pay money for doing something that you can easily do at home all you need is little patience.
I felt the urge to put the tempered glass to only protect the edges of the screen from damage as after applying tempered glass the surface of the tempered glass is little higher as compared to the edges of the device. Though after a month of use of tempered glass it has come off a little near the earpiece.
As I was searching for a screen protector (tempered glass) for my Lenovo z2 plus but was unable to find one with satisfactorily good rating on Amazon or Flipkart
So can someone from India suggest me a good tampered glass screen protector for this device

Can you please share the link? Does it fill the entire curved edge? Also, can you please attach another photo of front without the back cover?

There is a 1mm gap on each side so screen guard doesn't stick out at the curve. For link search Ali express for nillkin Lenovo zuk z2 screen guard. They have 2 varieties. Matt and clear.

I Told you man, Donot buy from anywhere else other than the official website. In Amazon, more than half of these trink glasses are fake. I Know because a friend of mine tried for his Redmi Note 4X from Amazon. The Product was so fake that you can tell from the packaging itself. Then he came to know about the Official site and bought again and he was pretty much satisfied with the quality. See youtube for reviews of the trink glass bought from the official store. I Myself will try it out once the matte screen guard that came with the phone is worn out by scratches.
So did anybody find a good one for it?

If by good one you mean tempered glass having no gap in any of the side then.... Sadly No..!

I have purchased front and back glass from trinkshop official website. The quality is ok. But the main downside is that the front glass does not cover the entire landscape and just like any other tempered glass available anywhere it leaves the edges and top sensors uncovered. It's definitely risky to not apply a back case, but both side glass films provide a fantastic look

I come from using an oneplus x for 2 years with the exact same problem regarding tempered glasses. The reason there is no tempered glass with the perfect fit for these round edged phones is because manufacturers don't intend for people to use one on their phones nowadays. The last six months with my oneplus x I was using the phone with a rigid case and no tempered glass or screen protectors and it still is good with no scratches even after a few screen facing falls. I think the best setup for Z2 plus is the same approach but incase you want some scratch resistance use scratch guard films instead of tempered glasses. The only case i found online that covers the Z2 Plus' screen by giving a little rubber covering on the screen corners (like the spigen ones) is the generic kick stand two-part case. Those cases also give a good look without the kickstand part (picture attached below).
Finally got perfect tempered glass for lenovo z2 plus
I ordered this FAD-E™ Full Coverage Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Lenovo Z2 Plus
It's fitting perfectly and looks awesome. No effect on touch. Please note it's not matt. It's clean tempered glass.

Is there the rainbow effect while watching videos at an angle?
Please post close up pics of the tempered glass applied on the phone, with the screen both on and off.

Using one with Z2 Plus. Very bulky and uncomfortable. Beats the whole purpose of going for a 5 inch phone. Makes the already thick Z2 Plus even more thick

Beware. These full coverage tempered glasses look and for good but provide no screen protection except for direct scratch resistance. These are not full glue ones. Only the coloured parts have glue and on minor impact these glasses come of. Telling from RN4 experience with multiple friends ..
True protection from tempered glass comes from the ones which are glued thoroughly to the screen.
Glazedinc.com makes such full screen edge to edge full glue screen guards and their Redmi note 4 screen guard is quite popular - probably the best in India but I didn't find any product for Z2 Plus on their website. Maybe people can request them. I already did
If anyone is interested in having this bumper case: https://www.ebay.in/itm/New-Lenovo-...ck-stand-Hybrid-cover-case-black/142458738739 let me know. I bought one for myself but find it a bit bulky and that is just my individual preference. Perfect fit with all cut outs. Same one mentioned and used by this youtuber here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ7nXahWVUE&t=2s
The ebay seller has increased the price for some reason (may be low stock). Actual price is 169. Someone preferably from Bangalore, if interestedm PM me
