Is it bricked? please help - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello guys.
To cut it short, I found an old note 3 pro in a drawer, it was my dad's and I wanted to just tinker with it.
The problem is, my dad forgot the password, and the wifi on the phone is not working (don't know if it is a software or hardware problem).
No big deal I thought, and I factory reset it.
Now, on startup, it tells me to ''activate'' the device by prompting in the password for the xiaomi account linked, which is not possible since the wifi is not working (aka no internet), and it is not possible to activate data and just use 4g.
Not possible to flash a rom through fastboot, usb debugging wasn't enable and my pc doesn't see it.
What should I do to save it?

I managed to flash it and unlock it, the only problem is that the wifi is still not working, displayed mac adress is 02.00.00.00.00, tried multiple fix but none worked...is it hardware failure not software?

yes, it says something like ''impossible to get ID device, bluetooth needs a correct ID or IMEI bla bla bla''
It's not like wifi, bluetooth toggle works and it stays blue when I use it; the wifi one becomes blue (on) for a second then turns grey (off)

Rgds,

If you can't connect your mobile to the PC it will be so hard look for backup!
But... I am thinking that...
Maybe you can flash a new ROM...
if you can go in DOWLOAD MODE...
but i suppose that your settings, as the password, will remain active... maybe a modded ROM.

Can't you just see the internal sdcard when you plug in the USB cable to your PC as a disk?

Humm.. Phone is detected in device manager as Samsung USB composite and Modem device but Kies (2.1.0.11112_41) reports connection locked error. M wondering if there is another tool/driver that can allow to either unlock device from computer or get access to file system on phone. Kindly advise..

i also managed to break my gs2 screen today. ive taken it to vodafone however they claim that for data protection they have to wipe all data on the phone if you have found a solution i beg you to get in touch.
simple method:
1.put the phone in download mode
2.download the tar file of a custom kernel(like siyah) which can mount your storage from cwm.
3.flash the file via odin and enter cwm.(press the key combo to enter cwm)
4.now ask some other users who use the same kernel to tell you the number of key press needed(and in which direction) to mount your sd card.
5. now your internal sd will show up in pc.
6. backup all the data now.
you can also backup all your apps +data using step 4
replace it yourself, it is dead easy...google youtube for an instruction video (did replace my daughters SGS2 broken screen in under half an hour)
hello My Samsung Galaxy SII has a broken display and i need to connect it up to retrieve key data but it won`t connect to kies...is there any way that i can?
Display is black. Phone is working ok
Can you help me? :crying:
You should be able to pull your stuff with ADB. Google and/or XDA search should yield you plenty of tutorials/how-to's on using ADB.
Edit - Provided you had debugging turned on prior to the display being broken.

[Q] ADB command gets killed before it finishes.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post to this forum but I've been reading some pretty good solutions over here. I hope someone will be able to help me out with the problem I'm having with my Motorola Razr I (Android Jelly Bean, not rooted, bootloader locked, USB debugging enabled).
I'm having a problem with unlocking my phone. Some of my friends tried to unlock the pattern but after 20 failures the phone blocked. Now I have to submit my google login so I can get back on it. The problem with that was that I was on vacation abroad so my 3G and wifi were both turned off. I've read about other problems like this and came to a point where I was trying to turn on my wifi with adb. I found that I could use the command "svc wifi enable" and I tried this several times, every time with the same result: I think the command starts but then gets killed before it finishes.
Anyone who has any idea what causes the kill or how I could solve this? I have included a screenshot of what happens. I hope someone could help me out here.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Thanks for the reply.
I already tried to execute the command directly like you suggest though. When i do this, adb just responds with 'Killed' and I don't even get the 'svc wifi enable'-response.
Any other ideas?

Well in this situation I would root Your phone (I don't know how to do this with motorola) and delete the gesture security files.
Wait, the gmail login didn't need internet access to unlock the device. It just reads saved password on Your device.
I read some other things about people having the same problem with loging in with their google-account and normally your phone needs internet access to verify the username and password. That is why I want to enable the wifi with adb. Do you think there is no other solution than rooting or doing a factory reset?

If You say so. My friends blocked my phone only twice like this and I hadn't problem unlocking it.
However if You can't turn on wifi (maybe try data) that's what I would do in this situation.
It seems that I need an internet connection to login with my google-account. I also tried to enable data but I'm getting exactly the same thing as with wifi.
Anyway, thank you for your reply. If someone else could come with a solution, I would be very grateful.

I don't think there is.
If there ever would be people experiencing the same problem (which I doubt because I didn't find very much on this topic): I think you just can't execute the command when you're not rooted. I decided to root the device and when I finished I tried the "svc wifi enable"-command after issuing "su", and it fully finished the command.
Just to complete the thread.
Tim
Adding to this 3 year old thread, now if you are running SELinux in Enforcing mode, you must switch to Permissive mode for the "svc wifi enable/disable" command to work. This is for the next person who finds this thread while Googling as I did .

[Q] Stock Verizon S4, unable to unlock w/PIN

I am in SO much trouble with the Wife....
Bought the Wife an S5, and pulled her SD card from the S4, and was going to backup files and contacts but entered the WRONG swipe pattern 3 times (I was using mine), and now it's asking for a PIN.
She hasn't set one that she recalls. We log into Google and do the LOCK, reset PIN to 1234 and the phone STILL sez it's the wrong PIN.
The only info I can give is it appears to be on 4.4.2 I think, recovery mode reports
Android System Recovery <3e>
KOT49H.I545VRUFNG6
I tried Aroma 1.8 and 1.9x to no avail, fails E-Signature. Is there any help to be had without destroying user data on the phone?
I don't mind donating either to whoever helps me!

Install ADB on your PC, just Google how to, then plug into PC and use the command "ADB Pull /sdcard" to take a backup of the internal storage.

OK I have ADB & Fastboot installed. When I plug the phone into the pc though it comes up as a drive in my tree, but no files, there isn't any real tree on it. When I run your command from CMD Prompt it says ERROR: Device not found
What now?

Try "Adb devices" if nothing shows up, that is unfortunate....
This next way /SHOULD/ work, no promises though , I used this method to get from VRUFNG6 to VRUFNC5 after accidentally deleting some system files, your ideal solution is an NG6 No-Wipe TAR, because it would restore your /system, partition (and passcode) but keep user data, but no such TAR exists... so the easiest way would be to use the No-Wipe NC5 tar, then re-upgrade to NG6 via the settings app (OTA)
Download the No-Wipe, MAKE SURE ITS THE NO WIPE NC5 tar in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172 , and follow the instructions to flash it. (i.e. load the .tar.md5 file into ODIN's AP Slot)
When you reboot, you may be greeted by some apps force closing... all you have to do is uninstall them and reinstall those apps from the Play store. After you reinstall those, reboot again and take the NG6 update through settings. Then you will be at NG6 w/o a passcode and your user data will be preserved.
Good Luck man. Hope your wife doesn't kill you.

NOLEN-
It's WORSE THAN DEATH brother. She broke out the River of Tears on me dude.
Having said that, when I took Programming Pascal was the hip thing and C was the new kid on the block. However I have spent a lifetime building DWDM optical networks, so I'm at least a technoid. I'll read up on the ODIN...
EDIT:
1- Do I have to reinstall the APPS that may need to be? All I'm after are the pics and msg downloads and then I can toss it!
2- Once this procedure/upload is complete and reboot takes place, the is then on it's original release with no security?
DOUBLE EDIT:
What a schmuck....I found the flash instructions....

1. Just use the no wipe TAR file in the AP Slot in Odin, don't fill any other slots, only check the boxes that are pre-checked when ODIN starts. Then Reboot into download mode by shutting the phone down, then hold volume down and power to boot into download mode, select continue with the volume up button when prompted. Plug into your PC and click Start.
2. Well, maybe. If the force close is not a constant one (like it was for me, Nova launcher constantly crashed), then you should be good.
3. Well, the /system partition is restored. Your data is still present. What do you mean by Security? Also, if when you want to sell the S4, you want to Wipe to factory defaults, just use the Full-Wipe in ODIN.
4. Thanks man!!! I really appreciate it!
In response to your Double Edit: Haha. Not your fault, It took me a few reads through to understand half the stuff Ive learned here XD

Oh. My bad, I forgot to include the step to install the Samsung mobile USB Driver here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
Try again after that.
If not, try a diff. USB Port (preferably 2.0), for some reason, I have one USB on my laptop that actually gets along with ODIN. XD
Edit: are you using ODIN 3.09? I know that 3.07 has issues with Kitkat.

Well, if it doesn't install, just use the Google Generic Phone driver, just Google it.
Then plug into a different port on your computer (not a USB hub) and also make sure its a nicer (preferably Samsung) cable, then try flashing again.

Did you get this sorted? Is user data all you need off the phone? Contact/call logs/text messages...etc? Also, why did you not just pull the battery once it asked for a pin to get back to whatever form of security was set previous? When you set up your security, it asks for a pin so she would have had to enter one.

This is the screen I get when I incorrectly enter my swipe pattern. Stock/rooted. I'm thinking if they went with "forgot pattern" (which I'm not sure why the would), then they would have needed to enter email/password info to have the pattern image emailed to them. You cannot get to a point on an S4 (to my knowledge) where the security will overwrite the preferred and selected security (swipe in this case) for something else. Unless they selected "backup pin" and you get almost unlimited tries then and even still, once the 30 second lockout is over, security just goes back to whatever is set (swipe in this case). The question in the OP kind of does not make sense to me but if he's been flashing firmware, the security lock is not really his problem anymore if he still wants his user data....Unless I'm completely off base here.
[Edit] Her work requiring a pin if she gets company email to her phone just clicked. Lol. She would have had to set all that up through work though and definitely would've needed to select a pin number but that would all be done through work so changing the passcode through Google would do nothing anyway...

OK, so this is my WIFE we're talking about here; as far as she's concerned, it's Magic we're discussing here
She had Backup setup, so she got her contacts but the messages and photos that weren't stored on the SD card are what she's looking for. The pics her Sisters in Peru sent her over WhatsApp, downloads and SMS.
Thanks to everyone for pitching in. Not sure why it went to the PIN request, or what that PIN is but it does warn that after 10 attempts it'll wipe the device...but if I go to Google and do a LOCK command and change pin there, it resets the number of attempts to zero. SO. THEORETICALLY speaking I could enter 0000-9999 and see which one works but that may take a few years ....

I'd Install some different drivers and see which one gets ODIN to succeed, because if it will flash, that will work.

Uh. It shouldnt be locked. The phone should be in download mode. Have you been putting it in download mode?
OK so it TOOK the NC5 downgrade, but now it's at the "enter PIN" screen again. It HAD been in a boot loop with "android.process.acore" has stopped. Now it seems stable, it's not rebooting anyway.
What now?

How to access Android phone with broken screen, with recovery password protected?

Hi guys,
I have an old S2 (Model: I9100G) that i loved tinkering with, the one with monitor-mode capable wifi chipset.
Well, recently my S2's screen suddenly stopped working. I want to gain access to the internal data (also to be able to crack WIFI's by connecting it to a laptop through ADB ) .
Now, the problem is i have password protected TWRP using an online tutorial (can't post here, but it involved putting ui.zip onto the internal storage). As for ADB, even though Android debugging is enabled, it can only be used after unlocking the screen lock, for which i have a pattern lock.
I know both the TWRP password and the screen lock pattern, but there is no way for me to enter it.
Some things i though of/tried;
1) I've tried with the OTG cable + mouse, but i got frustrated after the first 15 mins of trying to unlock the phone blindly.
2) Reflash recovery using Odin? Won't that wipe the internal data..? And also i haven't been able to find a file to flash via ODIN, only to flash via recovery... Or can i just flash the standard zip file with recovery.img inside in Odin without wiping my data?
3) An HID pattern bruteforcer, except i'd program it to enter only my pattern
Any suggestions?
Thank you!!

I got an idea: use an MHL link to view the screen + otg cable.
I'll report back!

poco f1 Hard bricked now dead boot

i was browsing and suddenly my device hanged. i forcefully switched off by holding the power button and when i tried to switch it on again, it won't turn on.
when i plugged it to pc qualcom can be seen and also in MIFlash i can see the COM port getting displayed.
i tried to flash Fastboot rom, but im getting error "hello packet not recived and ping via firehose" nothing is working.
i went to the service center they told me to replace board as u know how they don't know much than that.
then i went to local mobile repairing shop, they told me hardware is fine but device is boot dead and needs to be put online for edl unlock. but their login (something) was not working, told me to wait week or two.
if anybody has faced or knows the solution for this problem please tell me. im in trouble.
ps:
my poco f1 was rooted on official stable rom.
In this video I'll guide you to Unbrick Redmi Note 5/Pro without replacing Motherboard, for fastboot flash Xiaomi has introduced the security feature known as EDL Authorization, without Authorized ID you can't flash and unbrick you Redmi Note 5, here I'm representing the FASTBOOT ROM for Redmi Note 5 (Whyred) which'll bypass the MI EDL Authorization, yes there is no need of MI ID Authorization and also you don't have to try test point method.

Poco f1 issue
Bro same issue I am facing now... It happened same as u explained...... But for flashing during lockdown ineed authorized id and pass.... Bro any solution u have help me out
My num:-8692987916
Hi, I have a problem that my PC doesn't recognize my POCO F1 in FASTBOOT mode.
I'm running Win 10 64bit (Core i7-3517U), my phone is Global stable 11.6.0. bootloader is NOT unlocked and there is no root.
The main problem: When I try to connect my phone in FASTBOOT mode to my PC and go to System Manager it shows an exclamation mark, not a question mark like it would if you just didn't have the drivers. It also says "The device has been stopped (Code 43) (the other error codes are in the attachments given below) A request for the USB device descriptor failed." I guess this means it's not a simple matter of missing drivers, even if my phone is connected normally

E-Mail ID : [email protected]
This is same thing that happened with me as i was browsing got hanged dead!! I think either device is too poor or this done by company itself. Now the solution for this problem is remove the emmc n flash the emmc chip with the emmc files. Now i had yureka plus for some reason it was hard bricked but there was a solution n that was put those emmc file on empty Memory card n it will boot up the device, After booting up flash the firmware, now let me know if u get those files for poco f1.
I visited service center for the same issue
Today i have visited service center for the same issue. they could not identify the problem that what is wrong
they tested my motherboard and told it is okay but they were also not being able to flash the rom
At the end they told me to replace the motherboard which would cost Rs.9717
Can some one please help any dev or anyone how to come out of this problem and revive the phone.
I was on stock and i am a normal user never done anything custom in phone
There are tons of user facing this same problem...I met about 4 more person at service center with same issue
PLEASE HELP
