When reverting back to stock, bootloop happens - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hello guys, I am looking for help. I am currently on custom ROM. I tried revert back to stock but with no luck because every time I tried it caused device to bootloop. I have TWRP backup but when I try to flash latest firmware via ODIN with HOME_CSC it stucks on pulsating SAMSUNG logo with pulsating blue LED light forever. The main reason is because I do not want to lose apps and their data (some apps data cannot be backed up in Smart Switch nor via Samsung Cloud)
Only modification to the system was:
. no-verity-opt-encrypt-samsung-1.0.zip
OR
- boot-noverity-nocrypt-g965f.img
I tried various options. In Magisk = Restore images, I extracted stock boot.img and stock recovery.img, flash it with TWRP and after that flash firmware with HOME_CSC. Still bootloop...
What did I miss guys?

go into the file manager of TWRP and delete the folder named Android and reboot. Itll take longer than a normal boot if it works as the OS is rebuilding the Android folder while it boots

Disabled system apps, device stuck at loop?

I had disabled some system apps that were sucking a lot of battery and they didn't seem to be that important, to me :silly: , now it gets stuck at boot animation, no looping.(can't edit title)
The device is running 4.4.2 Kitkat and is a mtk device.
I thought about replacing the file that contains info about disabled apps, but I don't know which file is that.
Recovery is stock, garbage, throws installation aborted error on flashing.
Any way I can flash custom recovery image? (fastboot is not working, tried with adb too)
Can you suggest any other way to solve the problem without resetting user data or flashing stock rom?
Thanks,

Try flashing stock firmware with SP-Flasher.
I just flashed the recovery with sp-flasher, made a cwm backup, flashed different partitions and figured out that the boot animation was creating the problem.
I had replaced boot animation before and it had only one part with a lot of frames, divided the boot animation into three parts and restored everything back and everything is working .
Thanks,
Glad to hear that!

[Bootloop] Samsung J3110 Stock Rom

Hi I have a Samsung J3110, it's stuck in a bootloop state even after I re-flashed stock rom and wiping data and cache afterwards after flashing it the problem is more serious than you think. Do you guys have any suggestions? I personally think it's because I messed up the EFS folder because that's what I only did after rooting and nothing else I just purchased this device 2 weeks ago. I have the backup of the EFS folder though but I have no way to restore it since it's in infinite bootloop Just for your info: TWRP is available for my device. [The phone is loading the Samsung boot animation and after 10 seconds the spinning Samsung animation gets stuck and the phone reboots.] I can post video just request.

u can use samsung smart switch to reinstall stock rom.
i got this issue and solved with the above step.
try checking "nand erase all" and repartition also, you'll need .pit file for repartition
my opinion
you need use software called samfirm if your cel phone is samsung then you search for you original system or you can try binary system that is better to use with root . samsung has one software which save your imei number but if you didnt saved your imei when you install the firmware of samfirm(samsung) your imei is restored , you can use odin , after download your software samfirm will Decrypt the file , then you will 1 file zip , you will unzip it , after you will see 3 or 4 files , 1 AP ,CP, CSC ...and other...then you will charge the files on odin ,after all files charged then you will start all archives in the same time ..then it will install the system entirely and you phone will be new again ..and you can root after and install TWRP or your customed room ... but if your phone is not samsung I dont know how to do..hehe , J3110 new firmware AP : J3110ZCU1APK1 CP:J3110ZCU1APK1 CSC:J3110CHCAPK1 , Samfirm code to china system=CHC ,russian system SER . you can search for SM-J3110_1_20161208091928_1k4wn4b5lz_fac

mounted system and wiped in twrp, then flashed rom

so i thought i was doing something right by wiping the system partion in twrp before flashing LiteRom, so now the android folder is missing and the phone wont boot past samsung logo. is there any way i can just cope over the stock files/folders for the s3?
Download the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com and flash with Odin.
Flash the latest stock firmware via odin on pc, root it etc, flash the custom rom straight over the top via custom recovery. Never erase anything as it isn't necessary. Any issues just flash the stock firmware via odin and start again.

Stuck in bootloop after Magisk uninstalling

Hello to all !
I was on the stock rom 10.2.2.0 stable. I wanted to do OTA update to new 10.2.3.0. Since my phone is with unlocked bootloader and rooted with Magisk I unistalled Magisk before new update. After Magisk uninstaled phone goes to bootloop. Stuck on yellow Pocophone-unlocked logo.
Before whole procedure I did twrp backup, so I tried to do wipe and than restore but with no sucsess. I can go to twrp recovery through the fastboot. And I can do anything in recovery. Can do advanced wipes, can do(and I did it also) factory reset. Can choose specific restore folder and go through the whole restoring proces fine. But when I restart phone after restoring it can not boot but stuck on yellow Pocophone-unlocked logo.
Is there anything what I can do before I go to MiFlash procedure to flash stock rom ? Also... If I go to MiFlash tool, should I flash 10.2.2.0 stock rom ?
Thanks infront... !
Just flash the magisk-v18.1.zip (or whichever version you were using) from recovery and it'll boot again fine. There's no need to restore any backups.
Or simply boot to twrp then re flash the rom you're using...
Thanks for the replies...
I didn't tried to flash again Magisk. Didn't think about that. Lately last night I did reflash of 10.2.2.0 via MiFlash tool. So I started from new rom. Anyway... I still can't to restore earlier system via TWRP. Do you guys know why ? When I try to restore stuck again in bootloop in Pocophone yellow logo.

Everything seems fine , i suggest you to give extra time like 1 hour or maybe more just plug in charger at night after restoring backup . I didn't see any problem if something else you didn't do . I suggest you to use orange fox it support ota updates .
Maybe some glitches with encryption?
I'm in the same situation, but I haven't updated yet.
Phone is rooted with magisk, but stock recovery is installed.
If I flash magisk-uninstaller via booted TWRP will I have a bootloop?
I'm not really complete sure how to update without flashing the full ROM and have to debloat everything again ...

Tab S3 always booting into Odin/Download mode

Hi there,
Not sure what happened - I'm using my Tab S3 (SM-T820) for ages in the same (stable) configuration - rooted Stock, no changes/installations for months.
This morning it was in Odin/Download mode and I cannot boot into system.
I can get into recovery (TWRP), but I cannot boot into system from there either, it always returns to Odin (tried wiping Cache/Dalvik, didn't help).
For now my only idea is to let it completely discharge, charge again and give it another try.
No buttons appear to be stuck.
Any ideas or suggestions, eg sth I could check in TWRP to see what's going on?
(hopefully nothing wrong with the system partition).
Note - I'm only familiar with the typical TWRP functions needed to install custom firmware, haven't used it for much else. Obviously would prefer not to destroy my (stable) setup and spent a full day re-installing everything
Thanks a lot for your help everyone!
@Whoooo? Backup whatever possible with TWRP onto external storage (SD or OTG).
Check if file manager can access download/DCIM folders and save them as well.
Although the charging thing might help I wouldn't set my hopes to high.
Probably somethings wrong with system or boot partitions or any file needed by them.
I'm afraid you will have to reflash stock via Odin, root again and try if restoring TWRP saved Data works.
That would reduce setting up time.

Hi there,
Thanks a lot for your reply - yes, I will try that once the complete discharge is finished.
Reflashing stock - could cause this any troubles as it's already unlocked/rooted?
Or is there a chance dirty flashing the Tweaked Stock ROM could work, too?
Tablet was still on the original Stock it came with, but rooted with magisk and manually debloated...
Thanks again!
I think Odin won't care about unlocked bootloader.
But might be necessary to unlock again.
Dirty flashing afaik only works with TWRP so only flashing of zip or img files possible.
Except you sideload although Idk if that's possible on Samsungs.
Dirty flashing of a before the problem arose made backup might work.
Did you debloat while already installed or externally?
What file format does it have?
My T825 uses the debloated ROM by rorymc628 which can be flashed with TWRP as it's a zip file.

Hi there and thanks again -
Took me a while to try everything but finally it's working again.
Complete battery drain didn't help, but dirty flashing did - once I got the correct version.
Basically made a nandroid backup, then flashed the tweaked rom over my existing one, starting with newer versions down to older ones.
So, flash, reboot - didn't work, restore nandroid (all), flash slightly older rom....
Till it started booting with v2.0 (probably matching my existing rom close enough).
Had to reflash Magisk as the 2.0 Rom included didn't match my Magisk Manager, but now my Tab S3 is working again!
