I have a completely stock Poco F1, when i got it it had the MIUI 10 and everything was working fine. I don't plug my phone on my PC with the USB cable so much so only last week i realized its USB communication is not working at all
The only thing that changed was the official update to MIUI 11.0.5.0.
It fast charges with no problem using only the stock charger and cable. But when i plug it on the computer it spams USB not recognized on Windows 10 and no message about USB options shows on the phone at all

I only see the charging indication. On the USB communication options it shows the phone isn't connected to the USB.
Developer options for default USB dont matter (tried all of them - Transfer Files, Tethering, etc)
Already tried other cables and other PCs and no changes whatsoever.
I already bought and exchanged the USB board that goes at the bottom of the phone and the same thing still happens
ADB doesn't recognize the phone at all
What should i do? Please some advice (i cant even flash ROMs and other stuff like that)

Yep, IDK what's the deal with Windows but in Ubuntu 18.04, my phone just detected as MTP device, no set-up needed. In Windows, needs manual MTP driver installation using device manager.
I'll try on Ubuntu and see what happens.. But it's weird that not even the phone knows it's connected

Check for build up dust in your USB port of the phone. Clean it carefully with a toothpick
I had this issue recently too with my fully stock Poco 11.05. My phone would either not connect with PC or would keep spamming connect and disconnect. I went to the service center for a different issue and just told them to also clean the USB port. They cleaned the port with rubbing alcohol and fixed the other issue too. No charge... Even out of warranty.
Everything works as it should now.
Also if you eliminate all issues... My last word of advice is try connecting device to Intel motherboard and not AMD.

as i said on the 1st post, i replaced the entire USB board and nothing.
i didn't have the time to test the ubuntu yet but i'm almost sure its some bug on the MIUI 11
I'll try to put the other USB board again. I tried to plug-in on an amd motherboard and the phone doesn't even show up as a device.
any update??
Any update? Same problem here.
Changed USB board too. But im on MAC and still not recognized. In windows got the same error..
I can only charge, No ADB/Fastboot/USB connection
Hi,
i am on MIUI Global 11.0.8 and today i ran into this issue as well.
I got two different cables here at hand. Both are type C to type A adapter cables, but from different manufacturers.
If i use these with the F1 and connect to my laptop (ports are 3.1 capable), one cable is working fine (charging and connection) the other one is not (only charging).
Both cables are data cables and worked fine during a cross check with another phone.
Another information i found somewhere is to tweak the Windows registry, but i guess this won't solve the issue.
In the end i did a cross check with a Linux PC and same here.
So it seems to me, that it might be related to the kernel/system used for MIUI 11.
Could anyone confirm, if there are any related issues with a custom ROM, e.g. Lineage OS?
EDIT: O.k. checked it myself... i observed the same behaviour with LOS 17.1... seems the F1 doesn't like specific cables.
Tried another connection wit a true type C connector cable from the phone to the laptops type C receptacle, no problems here.
So it seems it has nothing to do with USB 3.1 hardware in the laptop, but some cables simply don't work...
Cheers,
scholbert
No solution yet?

What is the brand of cable that worked for connectivity on your poco f1, i am having the same issue with mine. Also does the serial number in your device match the one on the box?
The same thing was happening to me, my pocophone sometimes charged and sometimes not, the PC detected it sometimes, I had to disconnect the cable and reconnect, I thought the USB port was dying This happened to me on my 11.0.8, I tried other roms and the same thing happened. Then my pocophone was updated to miui 11.0.9 And now it seems to work normally, I no longer have any problems with charging or with the PC
Is your serial number saying "unknown"?

I've searched the entire net for a solution for this problem, to no avail. There seems to be a confussion of whether this is a hardware or software problem (since the only person who fixed this, did it by replacing the phone!).
This is the problem:
- Every time I connect the sgs2 through USB to my computer (windows 7), it gives this error (USB Device Not recognized). I have the latest kies installed on my computer.
- The USB did work ok when I first got the phone.
- I'm on stock ROM, and the only thing I did was install CWM and do Root (back when the USB was recognized).
- If it is a hardware problem, how come I can still charge the phone through the same USB port ?
- It's not cable related nor computer related (tried different cables and computers)
- Did hard reset, still the same problem.
Update:
Out of desperation I tried to connect the Galaxy s2 to every USB port on my computer. In one of them it suddenly worked and kies synchronized perfectly. But then when I disconnected and connected it again to the same USB port, the same problem happens (USB Device Not Recognized). What the hell is this ??
Its a USB driver problem usually with PC .
Connect phone to a mainboard USB port in mass storage mode with KIES not running . Wait for windows to find drivers .

Thank you very much for your help JJEgan.
Here is what I tried to do:
1. Removed Kies completely from computer.
2. Removed Samasung USB driver for mobile phone.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Tried to connect the phone as mass storage (either through enabling debug mode, or through the mass storage option inside "wirless and networks"). The connection was to a USB socket directly in the motherboard.
Nothing works.
No matter what I do, everytime I try to connect the phone to USB, I get the following alerts:

have you tried turning usb debugging off and on? i recently started having an issue with windows xp not recognizing my device. the issue started after flashing the latest version of ninphetamine kernel. i solved it by restarting both my pc and phone, then reconnecting, but i also read that if you turn usb debugging off and on it will fix it.
Thanks hondaguy, but what you suggest didn't help.
I'm starting to understand that this is a hardware problem. Probably a defective USB port on the Galaxy S2.
for samsung jet gt s8000 i had the same problem i was pulling my hair out for a while but then found some useful info from a site i cant remember...
BTW dunno if this is true for sg2 but theres two types of usb connection going on, qualcomm and samsung.
try these codes maybe work maybe not?
quallcomm usb drive *#782872#
samsung usb drive *#7426872#
key either in ur dialer and then plug usb..
Samsung Galaxy S2 - USB Device not recognized.
Hi Noam23,
Were you able to solve the issue. I am having the same with my Phone. I tried the same steps that you did... Do you think its an issue with the usb port on the phone.
I got the Samsung galaxy s2 and am using windows 7 64bit.
Thanks in advance...
Have the same problem here :-/
Yeah same problem here, started a week or so ago.
USB debugging, different cable, different ports, none of them recognising it.
Kies on the phone reckons it's connected, Kies on the laptop doesn't see that there's a device connected. When you exit Kies on the phone I get the USB not recognised message as per the above and the same code 43 message.
Wifi File Explorer at least allows me to get files on and off the phone without using usb but it would be really great to get 3G tethering back!!
after trying 3 different usb cable and different computer and laptop i use tooth brush to clean usb pin on phone and that solved the problem.
For most of you its driver problems..
Uninstall the drivers on your computers, and connect your phone again. It should then prompt to install the drivers..
Also only connect your phone without the memory card, see what happens.
Tooth Brush Saved My Life
Hey.. Thanks cassiapark, the toothbrush thing worked for me too.. It seems that a few of these tiny threads from my jeans had gone into the port.... Thanks..
Thanks for the pointers folks. Tried them all but no joy yet. A friend pointed out the portable hot spot functionality which at least allows me to tether. Any other ideas gratefully received!
It's not a lost cause - just once it's recognised the phone and loaded the drivers and it worked, briefly. Now back to not connecting unfortunately. Still, good to know it's not dead!

Genius! Can't believe after everything that I tried that all I needed to do was clean the bloody thing. Thank you soooo much.
Solved!
OMG!!!
12 hours of intense work and research, 3 different cables, 7 pc, 1 mac with no results.
How did I did it?
The TOOTH BRUSH DID THE TRICK!!! Cleaned up the the USB pin on the phone and that solved the problem. Just make sure that the tooth brush is absolutely dry.
It seems that the conector are too small, so any thing, by little there is can block the pins.
Thank you guys!
having the same problem but the tooth brush didn't do the trick. How do you clean it exactly?
so yea... i was flashing a rom. and it went into a bootloop. so i hooked up to load a stock rom threw odin3. Mid way threw my connection decided it wanted to cut out and now my phone boots and says "firmware upgrade encountered an error." I can still get into the download mode but when i plug it into my computer it either doesnt respond or says can not install driver and names it gadget serial. tried the tooth brush.... battery died.... and now im waiting for it to charge....

Have tried all of these solutions, plus toothbrush, blowing into the phone port and the cord connector, have spent 3 hours trying to solve the issue with a Samsung live chat...nothing. Just a minute ago, I plugged in my phone to the PC, it correctly installed the drivers, Kies recognized the connection, and it starting updating my firmware!!! And then it crapped out and the PC said device not recognized, and Kies didn't recognize the device connection once again...
Anyone???
Hey guys,
Yep. *NOT* connecting to Kies.
I'm in Australia. Bought my SGS2 from HK (PDA ZSKG2, CSC OZSKG2), running Gingerbread 2.3.3 and is currently rooted using Chainfire's Odin dump on these forums. Prior to rooting, i had the same issue.
I have checked via the program, i have the latest kies program downloaded (2.0.2.11071_128) - and I also have installed the USB.exe file (for the propper Samsung SGS2 drivers off the Samfirmware.com website) I also have 2 mini USB cables, they are both genuine Samsung, so worst case scenario, at least 1 of these cables should work...
Aslo as an FYI: I am using a desktop PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit OS (legit) - have not had issues running other USB2 devices o it...
THE PROBLEM:
When i plug in the cable, the phone immediately tried to connect to Kies (on ym SGS1, i had the option of Kies/media player/mass storage) but can't select anymore; when i connect, a pop-up box shows up "I9100" and asks me what program i want to use - i have ano problems with copy/paste/delete/transferring files using this method, the issue is with Kies.
When i open kies manually and plug in the phone+USB cable (or if Kies starts up automatically when cable is plugged in), it jsut gets stuck on "CONNECTING", but the phone itself never actually connects.
I have tried reinstalling the same usb.eve drivers again, restarting PC, the phone, unplug/replug in the cable and it doesn't seem to work...the funny thing, was my riisted SGS1 phone connected ti kies instantly and never had any issues with it. Can anyone lend me a hand or some advice? At the moment, i just want a simple Uuser firendly interface for restoring a tonne of my saved contats in a contacts file logged backed up form my old phone.
Cheers

Mine requires USB debugging disabled before connecting.

As i said, it works without KIes, but wonr work with it.
If i turn on USB debugging, plug in the USB cable, the error "Reconnect the device on Samsung Kies (PS Studio) mode. Current connection mode is not supported by Kies"
Any other ideas?
I might have missed exactly what you'd done, but did you actually try with USB debugging disabled / off?

It should work ! Do u use a custom rom ?
Double check USB Debugging is OFF.
Then check if you have one of those "multi mount" apps active that let you use /sdcard from phone and PC simultaniously - kill it.
Usb debug on or off makes no difference guys. Im using stock firmware, just rooted kernel...and no multi-use apps...or at least I dont think (what kind exactly?)

Make sure your s2 screen is turned on and unlocked
during the connection period, somehow that affected.things with me.
also reinstall kies, that may help. I think I also removed the samsung device in the device manager to force windows to reinstall the drivers.

Thanks, i'll give thgat a try when i get home. However, i now have a strong hunch i could have a phone with either faulty software or hardware:
When i plug a USB cable into my work PC to simple recharge the phone (exiting any PC Kies attempt by the phone) the stupid device tells me it cannot recharge due to the phone or batteries TEMPERATURE being too high or too low; yet the phone is not warm at all, and the room temperatures are more than optimal for its operating environmement.
Tried unplugging and plugging back in and get the same error, am going to turn the phone off now and attempt to recharge it. Dodgy HK crap....
RoOSRA
Some quick suggestions:
* Plug the cable into the usb port in the back of the computer, not the front port or usb hub (unless it's an AC powered hub).
* Make sure you use the Samsung micro-usb cable that came with the phone
* Try with another computer, maybe the PC drivers are messed up. Uninstall them as I mentioned above.
* Try to factory reset the phone
* Change your ROM to an official Samsung one
EDIT: Regarding temperature, there are tools in the market that can show you battery temp. Regarding the message you're getting, it would be useful to show a screenshot. If I remember correctly, Power+Home shortcut will take a screenshot.
So I tried searching google and the forums and found nothing.
So on multiple PC's it will charge my DNA but it will not detect it in device manager, like it's not plugged in at all. Almost like it's not seeing any RX/TX Just VCC and Ground. I've tried 3 different Pc's and probably 10 different USB cables. Multiple roms and it will not even see it in bootloader. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue, it's been going on for months, I can do pretty much everything without USB access to my phone but if I want to RUU I'm going to be SOL.
Any thoughts?

Do you have drivers installed and can you boot into recovery and mount ur device? You may need adb installed. Do you have SDK drivers installed.
Another good way to get ur computer to see ur phone is to download pdanet and it will install the needed drivers to see ur phone.

Not quite understanding, it's not a driver issue... The PC it's self will not see the device. Not even in device manager as an unknown device, the phone it's self will not say, "Hello PC I am here, do you have my drivers?" I plug it in, get nothing as if I am using a charging cable with only VCC and ground, without RX/TX. I'm pretty positive that it's a phone issue, not a PC/Driver issue. Even if it was a driver issue I'd be getting the MTP device showing up.

Actually it could be a driver issue. There has to be a driver installed for something to notice something.
Go to device manager and look at the very top when you connect your phone does it show this?

Hello, I'm having a few different issues when I go to install the latest 4.4.3 (or any for that matter) RUU. I've connected my phone to my laptop and downloaded HTC sync and have automatically updated the drivers. However when I go to actually install the ruu, the usb disconnects and I'm forced to hard reset the phone to get it unstuck. I've tried this with two different USB cords and two separate computers. Any advice? Stuck without service and I'd really like to see UPSM and boomsound improvements. This is completely stock. Thank you

What hboot numbers is the phone currently on?
It is the AT&T branded version M8, correct? I only ask, because folks sometimes come on here trying to flash an AT&T RUU on another version device.
Any error messages when the RUU fails?

Just tried this as suggested abd still getting the same error. I get far enough that I can accept the version update on the ruu, the phone displays "HTC" against a black screen, and the usb disconnects. I uninstalled all the drivers and after I plugged in the cord, the sync manager said it was updating the drivers. Should o uninstall sync manager and try again?
Yeah get rid of sync manager. After its gone try the alternative drivers and make sure the phone comes up correctly in device manager then try RUU again. It might be a matter of trying a few different driver vs RUU combinations.
If the system only has USB 3.0 ports and its an Intel chip set then you might also try and go install the latest Intel USB port drivers directly from their website. If the USB port drivers are outdated or if Microsoft has their drivers in for USB instead of Intel's (on 3.0 ports only most of the time) what will happen is everything will look fine with connection to phone via USB from computer but once you are in recovery or fastboot mode the connection will be lost.
I can give more specifics if you want to go down this route much later in the evening with screen shots and driver locations if needed, I'm just on my phone ATM on my way to work. So it would be much later tonight. Let me know...

Yeah get rid of sync manager. After its gone try the alternative drivers and make sure the phone comes up correctly in device manager then try RUU again. It might be a matter of trying a few different driver vs RUU combinations.

I uninstalled sync manager and the phone proceeded to Download the drivers again (in addition to an older sync manager driver for some reason) but still no avail. The laptop is definitely an Intel powered one, I'd greatly appreciate if you could post those screenshots when you get the chance
is fastboot enabled? If stock it is not enabled by default...enable it and try again. If you do not know how to enable it follow this:
Settings>About>Software information>More
Tap on build number 7 times repeatedly developer options will be enabled
Go back to settings open Developer options, make sure USB Debugging is enabled
WNC - Good point.

I tried installing it in fastboot usb but It didn't even detect the phone. Is there another type of fastboot or is that the only way?
Only one fastboot. Sounds more and more like a driver issue,be it a usb system driver update or htc driver update...something is amiss on that end.
Apologies for not getting back to this thread. Started a new work assignment this week causing my commute to significantly increase (along with a nasty storm yesterday resulting in power outage). I'll get back here this weekend when I have some time to login from home computer...

So, there are a few ways to check if you have USB3.0 drivers
One, is to look at the USB ports on your laptop/computer - unless it's a custom gaming rig, the USB2.0 ports plastic tabs will be black, while the USB3.0 ports will be blue - if all of your little plastic tabs inside the actual USB ports are blue, then sounds like you have USB3.0 ports only.
The other way is to go into your device manager and look at see what it lists under USB - refer to the below image. Should look like something similar to as follows:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

Now, provided that you have an INTEL chipset AND these 3.0 extensible drivers are currently using Microsoft drivers, then what you may want to do is replace the Microsoft Intel USB 3.0 drivers with the INTEL drivers themselves.
What you would look for is your chipset version of the intel chipset (e.g. C220, C217, C270 etc) you should see other areas in your device manager that will refer to your Intel chipset type) then do a search on Intel's website for "USB 3.0 driver C216" (or C220, C270 etc) and download the drivers for your version of Windows (Windows 7 64bit? probably)
The download center for Intel is here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
The original article where I ran into this same situation was located here - for some reason I still have it book marked. I was trying to update/root an HTC EVO LTE about two years ago and ran into this issue on Windows 8 - I imagine a similar issue exists on Windows 7 USB3.0 only systems. This allowed me to keep my connection to my EVO while in fastboot mode (no USB disconnected) on Windows 8 and do what I needed to do to root my phone. It was my first root and folks were saying it was impossible to use Win8 with USB3.0 only ports to accomplish this task, but using the method at the link I was able to : http://plugable.com/2012/12/01/windows-8-and-intel-usb-3-0-host-controllers
Here's to hoping you are running into something similar. If not, the next area I would try is just going to Intel's website and download there own driver check utility which should search your computer for all of their own drivers and download install the updated ones. You can try that out too.
Let me know how it goes.
So connecting my Xperia M4 Aqua to PC results in charging only, im unable to browse files or anything. Worked just fine a week ago.
Just for the record, ive tried different USB slots, different PC's, tried USB cable on a different device and it worked fine. Tried toggling USB debugging on and off, tried MTP and MSC connecting, tried restarting device after every change. I have no locker, but ive tried locking the phone and unlocking it before/after connecting it with USB. My phone is rooted. Charging works fine. USB slot in my phone doesnt look damaged or anything. So in short: after i connect my phone to a PC via USB cable, nothing happens except charging, like if no new device was connected.

Software? Might be, could be that i missed any major software update on my phone.
When you connect M4 to PC try to install software from phone to pc. Set phone as installer and try to install PC companion from phone to PC. This was the only way to connect phone to PC for me. Does it help?

Its set as installer. Im trying to set it on and off before restarting device too, then again, my PC doesnt detect it. Is there any way to manually install it from my phone? And for the mention, the first time i connected the phone, PC Companion installed itself without problems, it used to work until a week ago. Ive tried to uninstall it as well. Now theres no Companion installed on my PC, and switching my phone to "Install Software" doesnt do anything.
Ok. One more time. Take phone. Open settings - Xperia connectivity - USB connectivity. Turn on "Install software". Connect phone to PC using USB cable. On the phone press install software. This should connect your phone to PC.
At least this was the way to connect phone to PC for me. If this works, then you'll need to do phone software repair with PC Companion. After repair this issue has gone for good.
Good luck

Thats the part where im getting confused. Where do i press install software? Its already set to "Install Software" inside Xperia connectivity. I must be blind or theres something missing.
There should be message on phone screen ( or in top toolbar)

Hmm there is none
So guys, any ideas?
Your USB slot does not have to look damaged but it can be. I damaged my USB slot when I put knee unfortunately between edge of mobile and usb cable. Charging always worked but when I wanted to transfer files I really had to find some good position for cable. Your situation looks worse. I am lucky boy because I claimed it and tommorow I am getting repaired or new mobile phone. If u did not do anything bad just claim it as me and everything is gonna be ok.
