Hi all .. I recently discovered that my mediapad can't connect to public wifi. Normally at home it's connected to my home wifi and it works well. This time when I travel, I find that connecting to public wifi at airport, hotel, cafe and etc all doesn't work.
Why it doesn't work is because normally for public wifi, after you connected to the wifi you'll be prompted to sign-in or there is a page that needs to be open via browser for you to accept the T&Cs. this is where it fails.
I am able to connect to the wifi but everytime, when I need to open the page to login, the mediapad won't open the correct page of the wifi provider but instead some funny huawei page that it can't find. I've tried this with chrome, edge and firefox, all the same so it's not a browser problem.
Anyone came across this or had similar issue? how to fix it please? thanks.
Further info:
When connected to public wifi, it will always try to open connectivitycheck.platform.hicloud.com/generate instead of the public wifi's login page.

Turn off your private DNS or set it to Auto.

Wow!! Thanks buddy, it works! After turning off private DNS it is able to open the public wifi login page and can connect successfully. Didn't know that was the culprit, much appreciated!

Hello
i found a bug !!!
with 2.3.4 (0.62 firmware) and 802.1x EAP protected network, there is no way to do work wifi.
If i set the Phase 2 autentication in Maschpv2 and save it, the system doesn't save it really, en fact if i go again in "modify network", phase 2 autentication shows "none". Thisi is a native android bug unsolved with ICS and affects most of the terminals of all brands (samsung, htc, sony etc.) from 2.2 to 4.0.3 but .... with the Sony build 3.0.xxx.145 this didn't happen .
Now i can't use wifi at my college with this protection protocol.
Is there a fix for a non rooted phone?
Noone can say me something?
Sony support say me they tried in your 802.1x protected network, and the wifi work, but i'm sure this only happened for me until build 3.0.xxx .
Then, here there is the official android ticket
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15631#makechanges
I have noticed it too. It does save the phase-2 verification, because I can connect normally to the network, but as soon as you modify the network you must set it again.
My university's network uses PAP by the way.

Hi everyone, i have recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. The phone does work fine, but when i try to connect to a Wi-Fi i can't. When i'm in the Wi-Fi settings i can't find any Wi-Fi connection that are nearby me... It keeps saying 'Scanning for Wi-Fi networks' without any result. And when i go to 'Add network' and then type my Wi-Fi info, it does connect but when i go somewhere else and come back it's like it has forgotten the Wi-Fi and i need to type it overnew.
Here is an example:

Can anyone please help me?
I've got exactly the same problem. I didn't upgrade the OS (that I'm aware of) but suddenly my S6 can't see any wifi networks. The only change I've made is with my home network wifi but I think that's a red herring - all other devices (ipad, iphone, PC) see the access point fine so I think it's just a coincidence my phone stopped working at around the same time (yesterday). Just did a factory reset and the problem remains. Being on mobile data is going to get real expensive, real quick...
** actually just to add, I can't even connect to the wifi network by typing in the name of the network, it still doesn't connect...
Hello I am facing the issue of ping spikes in my phone and easiest example to demonstrate this issue is delay in sending of messages in Whatsapp and Telegram and also sudden drops in speeds while downloading something or running a speedtest from ookla speedtest app. I am attaching an image to help you guys better understand this issue. Please help me fix this as I want to avoid service center at all cost.
Some flashback to this issue- I got it in DU for a day but before I flashed another ROM to check for same it disappeared automatically and I never cared to check for it again. 2 days back I clean flashed Zephyr-OS and this **** returned.
Thanks for help
P.S. No lag in other devices so router isn't an issue.

Try setting static unused IP to your device. I am not sure though. Just give it a try!..
Just Press on the WiFi network if already connected->Forget Network
Then Click on it again. Enter password and click on Advanced options enter your IP and Gateway and DNS as 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

You better find out what is 5G.
I don't know if it's a troll or not but i will try to give an explanation anyway. When you aren't using wifi and you need to connect to internet you use a wireless connection that connects you to a signal tower, usually owned by your phone operator. This is called "data connection" on your phone, and it depends on your operator and it usually has a limited amount of gigabytes. When you are using "5G" you are using the latest iteration of this technology, is faster than 4g and 3g but the concept it's the same, you use it to connect to internet.
When you use wifi, you simply don't need it, because the connection to internet is given by your router.
That's why the icon disappears, when you use one, you don't need the other and viceversa.
sorry for my mistak.
