Mate 20 Pro - Secure Face Unlock on Android 10 - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Does anybody know if the 3D face unlock on the Mate 20 Pro is hooked into the new biometrics on android 10? E.g usable to unlock apps that support secure face unlock.

I don't know, but I am interested in this information as well. I searched the web and found no answer. Anybody out there who knows ?

yes

So it is compatible to Google face unlock ?

Bump, can anybody confirm this? Some bargain M20 Pros around right now and am considering picking one up again. If the secure Face ID hooks in with android 10 that would be a real bonus!

Definitely not on my Mate 20 Pro (Android 10 / March security patch). Fingerprint is the only supported "secure" biometric.

Good to know, thanks

Strange, secure face unlock is working on my Mate 20Pro last update 196 with March security patch. EE UK locked.

You mean to say that if you try to log in to a banking app, or use Google Pay, you're offered the Face Unlock option instead of fingerprint? That's what the OP was asking, not whether face unlock worked in general.

Same. Revolut supports face unlock on Pixel 4 but not on Mate 2 Pro.

I have no apps that support secure face unlock on Android 10 with the Mate 20 Pro. Any of them that offer a secure function are only using the fingerprint reader.

Fingerprint Reader

Hi,
the fingerprint reader can be used to unlock the phone. Wen it is unlocked and I press the fingerprint reader again it locks the phone. Some apps make use of the fingerprint reader e.g. Applocker. With Applocker it works as expected. I can unlock apps with the fingerprint reader. I also use KeePass. With my LG G5 it was possible to unlock the database with the fingerprint reader ad KeePass supports this. With the Moto Z it just gets turned off when I try to unlock a database. Here are my questions:
- Can I turn off the "turn off" feature of the fingerprint reader?
- What do I have to tell the KeePass app dev to make this work as expected on the Moto Z?
TIA
@frantek you can turn it off from:
Settings - Security - press cog button next to Screen lock - toggle Fingerprint sensor can lock phone
Enjoy

Yesterday I received Android 7 and disabling "Fingerprint sensor can lock phone" with as @PiousInquisitor suggested has no effect on KeePass. I think I've to talk to the KeePass dev.

There are several KeePass apps in the Play Store. Which one are you using?
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Oh sorry, you are right: KeePass2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=keepass2android.keepass2android
I solved this. The problem was that Keepass2 was restored by Helium. This confused the app. After disabeling and re enabling the unlock by fingerprint every thing works as expected.

Blurry Google Maps?

I've noticed that my Google Maps app seems to be running at a very low resolution, so everything looks blurry. I've tried manually setting the resolution to WQHD, but that doesn't seem to fix it. I'm on the lastest version of Google Maps, with Mate 10 software version B131C636. Anyone else have this problem?

Same thing happens for me.
I'm having a lot of issues with this phone (can't disable vibration forever, the lock when locking an app in the multitasking menu disappears when closing the app, undeletable notifications, screen gets so scratched, vibration turns on again after when you enter again in silent mode ...)
What resolution are you using when running maps? Settings > Display > in here you have several items to choose from but I believe "Screen resolution" is the one you need to try to manually adjust to see if it helps at all. If not then maybe a factory reset is in order...sorry!
I'm still having this issue
Hi!
I have this issue too in my Mate 10, I have the resolution setting @ intelligent mode.
I tried deleting the Maps data and doing a factory reset, same issue.
Still no solution?
No such issue here. I am using Mate 10.

Why ? Because you are 3 to have this issues, every mate 10 owner must have it ? Maybe it's firmware related, region (of devices) related, screen (maybe differente quality of hardware used).
Before claiming its all mate 10 issues, try to find out if you're more than 3.

There's only one way to test this.
It's to take a picture from a word, very close that we can see the pixels and compare it
I also have a blurry Google Maps on my Mate 10. Google Maps Go is even worse. Although, the maps inside the Google Trips app is just fabulous! So crispy and detailed! So Google definitely can do better even on a Mate 10. I reported it to Google, but got no answer yet.

Do you like the HiBoard feature on Huawei mobile phones?

Do you often use the HiBoard home screen( the leftmost home screen ) on Huawei phones?

That's not how it is, ante0, and even tho this is months old, I'll say it to give the thread closure in case someone comes around looking for answers.
Let's say yours shows the feed. Disable it and it'll show the board. Vice versa holds true as well.
Greetings.
I still can't get it to show news, Chinese or otherwise. Gone around these dumb Huawei regional restrictions many times before, except this one i can't

New update Verizon LG G6

Decided to check and what do you know, I have a 756mb update downloading now!! More to follow!
Installed it. July patch, camera update but still no native AR sticker support. Did add Super Bright Camera mode but the QR scanning option they mention at the Verizon page seems to be missing as well.

There's a toggle in the camera settings menu. Do you mean that you don't have that or that it doesn't work when switched on?
Superbright, yes. AR Stickers and QR Scanning, no options for it in settings unless it's really hidden.

What are AR stickers? The only option for QR scanning is ON or OFF in the camera settings menu. I just verified it works. When it recognizes a QR code, it shoots out a little banner notification to click and open the link.

I don't have anything related to QR scanning in my camera. No options at all.
https://www.xda-developers.com/arcore-for-all-google-augmented-reality/
It's Arcore is now supported on the G6 on Oreo but the camera doesn't show it.
We still have to use this
https://www.xda-developers.com/install-ar-stickers-galaxy-s9/ (which works perfectly but it's crazy to need to install gcam to use something the native camera supports.

Ah, I see. I thought you were suggesting that AR stickers was something that the update promised but didn't deliver. For QR option, are you using the stock camera? Here's the option on my phone:

yep. Using stock camera. I just don't have the option for it which is fine. I can use Google Lens for the rare occasion I need QR scanning.
And another update this weekend!! To version VS98820d. Android security patch level,Sept 1. I did not get to see how big it was or the install log.
And another update before 3 days (1/12/2018) To version VS98820e. Android security patch level, Nov. 1 ^_^
Waiting for Android 9 pie ; )
Is there a stock oreo flushable link without pc for some reason my verizon g6 is still on 7.0

Facebook Hacked with POCO F1

Hello All,
Title of this thread might be misleading but I want to share with you all one suspicious activity in my FB account after I bought POCO F1.
I have attached the screenshots below. From the time/day I bought POCO F1, My account have started liking random pages from various countries like Germany, Russia but mostly from China.
I had activated 2 step verification on FB which was automatically deactivated.
Well this might not be related to POCO Phone, but this suspicious activity has started from the day I bought this Phone.
And I am pretty much sure about my password not being leaked to anyone else as I personally take more precautions about this and know the consequences very well.
So the probability of someone from my acquaintance knowing the password is very less and even if someone knows, liking random pages doesnt makes any sense.
You all can also check if your account has this activity ongoing by going to 'Settings' - 'Access Your Information' - 'Likes and Reactions' - 'Pages'. Please share this If someone else has same activity.

Yes mine was also blocked and asked to change password.
It's just that i have random page likes, I couldn't find anything else as of now.
It can be a hidden gift/blootware installed by the seller . Have you bought poco from the same source ?
Whats this?
I have no Facebook installed, nor do i have a account
no issue on mine, using facebook lite only....
