Hi my problem is strange. After a fall mi phone HTC GRATIA is similar HTC Aria have a problem during the call. Sometimes the display became black similar a stand by and not answer to the all impulse. If i want stop the call i have to do remove the battery.....
Have you any help for me ?
thank you
I've got a similar problem. I've replaced my digitizer and done everything by the instructions I've found. However the proximity sensor doesn't work and disable the screen when calls are answered.
I've got the rubber gasket on the light sensor, didn't lost it, and the light sensor works OK. I've tried prying very gently in between the digitizer and the housing, and while I do that sometimes the proximity sensor will show a value of 3.5in, and not 0 as always. I'm using AndroSensor.
I don't mind disassembling the phone again, but I don't know what I need to fix it.
I've searched all the forum posts about it, but either people disabled it somehow, and others just say they fix it but didn't mention how.
Any help on this?

You need to get the light sensor, gasket, and the small window in the digitizer all lined up perfectly so that the light sensor is not being blocked by anything. Not as easy as it sounds.
thanks for the explanation, but is the best way to do this?
and why the light sensor shouldn't be blocked? it seems by AndroSensor that it works fine, the problem is with the proximity sensor.
These phones where manufactured by the thousands per day in some factory, there sure is a way to assemble them precisely somehow.

If it is blocked, then it will not be able to sense anything (It's like you (the light sensor in this case) are trying to through a wall (whatever's blocking it)).

Special machines used to place them accurately.
I meant that the light sensor is "blocked" by the rubber gasket and seems to works fine.
by the way, as far as I know, most electronics are assembled by hand. laptops, iphones and ipads are, so I don't think that Aria is any different.
If anyone has any tips on how to do this, since I'm sure I someone has managed to replace the digitizer on this phone? how do they do this in repair shops or AT&T store?

The ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor are two separate things, though they are right next to each other on the Aria. The proximity sensor is MUCH more sensitive to being precisely aligned.
I incorrectly used the term "light sensor" in my earlier post. The proximity sensor, NOT the ambient light sensor, is responsible for turning the screen off during calls.

That's what I assumed you were talking about.
As I've said the proximity sensor is the right sensor and the ambient light is the left sensor that is covered with the rubber gasket.
The light sensor works perfectly as I've said. In AndroSensor at least it jumps between 33 LUX when covered and 77 LUX and 220 LUX when placed directly under a desk lamp.
But the proximity sensor doesn't seem to respond at all. What perfectly aligned means, that the sensor is right below the "hole" in the digitizer plastic? if I place the digitizer and it falls into the place, how come it isn't aligned? it's not like the digitizer has where to move in the frame.

I have two Arias and they both max out at 698 lux. If you can't get it to go above 220, it might be partially obstructed.

Do you notice a gap between the LCD and digitizer that is larger than it was from the factory? I wonder if it might just be related to the digitizer sitting too far from the proximity sensor. If you press down on the top right corner of the digitizer while in a call (without covering the sensor itself), will the screen turn back on?
Possibly unrelated, but similar.
I have an identical issue with the DroidX.
It needs a "gasket" over its proximity "light source" to keep light from reaching the proximity light sensor when there is nothing in front to reflect it back.
Looks like the light source had a rubber hood over it with a pinhole directed straight out, away from the sensor adjacent to it. Thus keeping stray light from triggering the sensor.
AAARGH. To have that little rubber piece.
Erbid
after replacing another screen and this time I've done it right, this is what I've learned.
I've assembled the phone with androsensor turned on and tested the sensors all the time. It seems that they should be perfectly clean (some air spray will do just fine), perfectly aligned with the holes in the digitizer and don't have to much distance between the digitizer and the sensors.
It's seems like a hassle but actually it's not, since if you put the right tape and put the keep it all clean, it can work with no problems at all. Make sure you test everything before you close the phone completely.
hi guys,,,
if NO iris scanner so, what is the sensor which located under the speaker griller directly??
Proximity sensor or are you referring to the camera. Lol
No No,,
I mean the sensor under directly the speaker grill NOT beside it... look at phone again
Hmmm don't see any other sensors under the front speaker and went through quite a few pics. Maybe some of the guys with devices from WMC could give more information.
I see no sensor under the front speaker. I see the camera and proximity sensor to the left and the led to the right. That's it.
http://www.zdnet.com/article/leak-shows-lg-g5s-major-design-changes-dual-cameras-ahead-of-event/
Zoom in the picture and see !!
I hope this support my words...zoom to the end
Relax dude, the picture you provided doesn't even show this supposed sensor you're yelling about.
Plz zoom and put your glass on your eyes before
What about you at this?
I think that's an old render. I don't see that sensor on the actual G5. Probably an old placement of the led. It's now located to the right of the speaker.
But this is a leak and not the version that was presented in Barcelona. So whoever posted those pics could've done anything to them. Look at the other pics and reviews around the net and such sensor is not present elsewhere.
So,,why the bezel from top is very thick in size?!
Not even sure what you want to hear more than what's been already said. Check the images of actual phone not some leak. Plenty of videos are available too. If you can show me another picture with this sensor from the actual device then we can get into discussion. But for now just rest and wait for the device to be available if you're so concerned about this non existent sensor
There's no sensor.
LG has always had somewhat large upper and lower bezels. I can understand the top, seeing as it houses the camera, speaker, led, and sensor but the bottom seems large for no reason other than to slap their logo on it. The bottom is almost twice as big as the top on the G4.
Yes,iam so angry with the upper thick bezel and no reson for it at all

I'd actually much prefer they put the onscreen navigation buttons on the lower bezel so there is a reason it takes up so much space, plus it'll free up a half inch of screen space.
hey, I'm on Lineage 14.1.. I own the official xiaomi smart cover for Redmi Note 4 and it seems that it is unsupported on Lineage... (UPDATE - unsupported on all custom ROMs)
third party apps on play store use proximity sensor to enable support for the covers which is really bad.. the only app that uses the hall sensor (Hall Monitor on F-Droid) doesn't work on this ROM... i have lineage rooted..
can anyone suggest me a ROM where Hall Monitor works? or some other app or something (except MIUI) that supports magnet based smart covers..
__________________________________________________
Update: finally I have found the issue.. all apps that are claiming to use magnetic smart cover are using the magnetometer sensor that's attached on the motherboard on the top portion of the phone.. The smart cover has the magnet at bottom-middle... so the apps aren't working..
The hall sensor (BU52061NVX ROHM_HALL_EFFECT) lies in the bottom middle below the home button which was used to implement the smart cover in MIUI...
I have asked the dev to add built in support for lock/unlock feature in the appropriate thread..
__________________________________________________
IF ANYONE WANTS TO IMPLEMENT IT
Update 2 - I thought the hall sensor would be like the geomagnetic sensor but it is not. It is a switch with two states.
The default behaviour when smart cover option is checked in settings is -
1) Magnet closed - Lock the screen
2) Magnet removed - Wake the screen up
PS - i will be more than happy if someone can implement the lock/unlock.. the window for accepting/rejecting calls isn't really important for me..
I buy also a smart cover for note4 Sd but i doenst work on stock (7.2.16 - 7.3.16). Did it work by you with stock miui?

yes it works on stock MIUI... go to settings > lock screen > smart cover > windowed smart cover (NOT lattice smart cover).. and it will work
Thanx, my settings are ok but it dont work, i have THIS one. I can see the magnet in the case (its in high of the home button).

idk then
Using the app Sensoroid, I can see that it is the LTR579 ALSPS sensor. It appears 2 times in the app, but it works with both.
Now one would have to listen to that sensor to lock the device on close of the cover. For open, it would be less important, because you can wake the device with the fingerprint sensor.
I also tried the app "Automaton", but it cannot use that sensor. However, even if it could, it locks the device with Administrator rights. That means, that unlocking with fingerprint does not work.
So, that is 2 challenges here.
smart cover lock not working in redmi 5a can anyone help
Hi I have a same problem at Xiaomi MI5s and case is NILKIN.
However, I have just identified the cause of the problem.
It was due to the dropout of the magnet chip inside the flap of NILKIN.
To identify the problem, please use other flap case.
Chao.
I've got the same problem.
It seems like the developpers don't like smart cases for this phone. THey like to use it without it, other wise I don't understand why nobody is building an option for smart case.
I think nobody should like smart covers with a magnet as they seize from function magnetic field sensor which is much more important.
A hall sensor is a nice mechanical switch which needs no supply but unfortunately it needs magnetic field to operate.
Proximity sensor should do the job fine, the drawback is it will drain some current and it should be a second one placed in other place
In my opinion a nice smart cover should somehow generate an instant magnetic field at open/close - N. Tesla should help here - [dynam cover]
If we could concentrate the field to the hall sw it will be the best.

O fi asa cum spui tu, insa cei de la MIUI te contrazic. Ei au o optiune in rom-ul lor pentru tipul acesta de smartcase si functioneaza perfect, doar ca mie nu-mi place MIUI.

Maybe we only need the proximity sensor, but someone should make an option for this phone to display the caller ID without the need to open the smartcase. With my smartcase I can answer the call without open it.
This is my smartcase: https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/-/32837488639.html?spm=a2g0v.search0104.3.1.2910be9cQRM7iA&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0%2Csearchweb201602_5_10152_10151_10065_10344_10068_10342_10325_10343_10546_10340_10548_10341_10696_10084_5722520_10083_5711520_10618_10304_10307_10820_10059_5722620_5722920_5722720_5722820_100031_5711420_10103_10624_10623_10622_10621_10620_10125%2Csearchweb201603_25%2CppcSwitch_7&algo_expid=2249fdd6-697e-4136-be56-ad6aeb775681-0&algo_pvid=2249fdd6-697e-4136-be56-ad6aeb775681&transAbTest=ae803_1&priceBeautifyAB=0
It's nice your case i knew it, bottom window open. I've come to the conclusion that i need one free of magnets, if needed stick the magnet exactly the place i need, alongside magnetron or hall sw depending the app i use.
I think this i like - https://www.honorbuy.com/948-redmi-...-note-4-global-version-flip-leather-case.html
PS am obs ca au optiunea aia, inca nu am smartu' dar comanda e facuta, cred ca mai greu e sa'i gasesc o husa. La cea anterioara am croit la ea pana i'am scos magnetii dar intre timp m'am lasat de croitorie.
I have installed yet the App Easy Smart Cover....it works. But i would really really love it to havew it in the Rom and not use an app with advertisings and so on ... I hope so it is possible and that it comes in near future
So in case Mi9 users didn't see this, Samsung is having similar issues with their S10. When I saw the news about Samsung, I tried and tested this on my Mi9 and low and behold it unlocks with any of my fingers if I put the included silicone cover on top of the screen. Of course it doesn't work when the cover is not over the screen.
Any Mi9 users care to do the test? I bet all the Mi9 phones come with that thin silicone cover included in the box.
P.S. Also worth mentioning I have a screen protector on as well. I heard some screen protectors can cause this issue as well (seems it isn't the case with mine).
Hi, bro
I don't have this problem.
I use a glass Screen protector.
Miui 11.1 by xiaomi.eu 9.10.17
I think you misunderstood what I meant to say. I'm not talking about the screen protector.
Put a thin silicone case over the phone's screen and put any finger that is not registered over the sensor area. The phone will unlock.
Read here if I wasn't clear enough. Same issue applies to Mi9.

I get it.
I tried that and it didn't unlock
Doesn't work with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid flipped to the front.
MI 9 / xiaomi.eu 9.10.17
Does not work at all. Perhaps this is only a Samsung problem?

Doesn't work on mine device too , with either registrated fingerprint or not , it's doesn't unlock at all with any finger when my stock cover that comes with the device.
Samsung ultrasonic?
Xiaomi optical?
Got notification from my bank app that fingerprint login for s10/note 10 is disabled, for mi 9 no restrictions.
You got me curious so I put the case on the phone the other way around so it covers the screen but the fp sensor doesn't work at all for me, correct fingers or not. Tried quite a few times like this and also with the back of the case on the screen, it always fails or in the case of putting the back of the case on the screen, it says the finger was moved too fas even though there's no movement at all. Quite odd if it unlocks like that for you, thought only ultrasonic sensors have that issue, I also don't think the screen protector causes it but I don't have any so can't say for sure.
My screen was replaced in like day two after buying the phone because it turned all green. Mi store here in Romania refused to give me a new phone. Could this be the cause of why this happens for me?
Sent from my MI 9 using Tapatalk
Do you have face unlock enabled?
Because when your Phone is unlocked via face unlock you can put any fingers on the fingerprint sensor and your phone will change to the Homescreen

In my case this is not true!
I have face unlock enabled and fingerprint sensor is working as it should!
I can unlock only with dedicated and memorized fingerprints regardless activated face unlock function!
Also, as I can see, title of this thread is little unfair to Mi9 because author in latest posts say that his phone screen is replaced!
After such big replacement I believe that factor reset procedure should be done because every peripheral have is unique ID and if this ID is not correctly recognized and maybe ID value from old sensor is used then all this "blind" recognition doesn't surprises me.

Hello! I have the same problem, I discovered it a few days ago. It is unlocked with any finger.
Doesn't affect my phone. With the silicone case from the back over the front, only the correct finger(s) will unlock the phone.
It works fine on my mi9. In addition, Samsung has a different type of reader, as its predecessors have already mentioned.
The samsung problem is simple, it has the tolerance set too high, this is because SS want to have a better "usability" of the reader.
Buuuuuut, it backfired.
They have to think a little and know that people will uncover this trick to have a "better reader".
This can happen in any sort of reader, it's only a matter of parameters in software.
Hello guys, I'm so pissed off my gf in front of me unlocked my mi9 with any finger ! I'm not surprised that she did it, but everyone can do it, even thief ... It's crazy but I did fingerprints registered reset and now it looks like it works ... But ... I think I have lost my faith in mi9
I tried with 3 different silicon cover on a Mi9.
It does not work.
mi 9 is optical, not ultrasonic
If I read the spec on different websites, there is written that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 plus (5G Version) should include a proximity sensor.
Now I owned a Flip cover and I would expect, that the screen goes on/off if I open /close the cover. Nothing at all.
After check the proximity sensor via app, it looks not as a valid or defect sensor .My device is not rooted till moment.
Does I've a problem or is there really no proximity sensor anymore included?
I own a tab s7. And it certainly has a proximity sensor. It wakes or sleep with my official keyboard case. Just verify if your flip case supports it or is magnetic.
S7 and S7 plus (5G) contains different Hardware.... starting with the Display, Fingerprint sensor ....
The plus non 5g uses magnetic sleep wake not a proxy sensor. That is how mine works.

I have no problem in screen waking on open/close of the cover (official cover). AFAIK, this feature doesn't work based on the proximity sensor. It uses the magnetic field.
Now we have 2 answer
NFC and Magnetic.
NFC I can believe, magnetic with the T976 (7plus 5 G) looks like, that it doesn't work
