I'm going round in circles trying to set up a phone, and it's all because of FRP.
I start the phone up, connect to the WiFi, it then asks for Google Account credentials and enter them. At that point it tells me I need to sign in with one of the accounts previously used on the phone. Fine, except that this is MY old phone I'm trying to setup and I've only ever used one account on it! It just will not let me sign in with my Google account details which I've previously used on this phone.
HELP!
The phone is nothing special - its an old Moto E3 (I think), about 2 or 3 years old, but I'm trying to set a separate system up to manage something for me and this phone is an ideal candidate. Except I can't get into it using my details that were previously signed in on the same phone.
What can I try?!
Thanks

there are programs in the market it solve issue one.
as for getting the market. you can add a google account any time via settings no ned to reset. just go to account options then add the google account in.

Just bear in mind that sometimes adding the Google account after initial phone set up can cause problems - especially with the Market.

thanks guys but it doesnt let me set up an account and when i spoke to htc they said it wont??? so cant go to market!
any one else?
Maybe you could offer more detail on what happens when you try to add a Google account?
Also, I'm fairly sure there's a way to get the "first-run" wizard to run (aside from resetting) but I can't recall how to do it.
Unless your caught by one of those regions that does not have/allow google on their handsets.
(strange I know but that is politics)
I've been using Android for a little while, and finally convinced my wife to join the revolution when we bought new phones recently. She is having a problem I have never seen in a mobile device.
She created a new google account on her phone when we set them up and can access the market and all normal google features normally, but she CANNOT log into the same google account on any PC. When she tries, she gets the "user name or password is incorrect" error.
I've tried password resets with no luck. I've tried creating an account via PC and been told the username is in use. I went onto her phone and enabled multiple log in hoping that might allow us to get in on the PC.
She can access the mobile and standard gmail pages, and the gmail app... but only on her phone.
Any thoughts?
Have you tried it with, and without @gmail.com at the end?
When I log in, I always put the name but not the domain. I remember once I had typed @gmail.com at the end and it didn't work.

Good idea, when I created my gmail many years ago that was how I did it.
I had her try it again without the "@gmail.com", just in case, and still no joy.

Did you try the other way around? Set it up on the PC first, and sign into the phone with the new account?

I considered having her created a new google/gmail account on the pc, then reset her phone and set it up again using the new account.
She's purchased apps and books that I'd rather not have to pay for again on the current account.

Tried that one too, still no luck.
I considered going for the gusto and rooting the phone, then backing up her apps using titanium, re-associating the phone to a new gmail account, and finally retrieving the apps and data from titanium.
As much as I support being able to root my devices, I'm just not sure that would solve this problem.
Have you tried taking a sledge hammer to the PC? It won't solve your problem, but you'll feel a whole lot better.

That was my next suggestion. The other alternative would be to email the dev's of the apps in question. They might cut you a break. There's a chance they'll refund the prices you paid, then you could purchase them with the account you set up on the PC.
The final alternative (which I would not suggest or condone) would be to download illegal copies of the apps apk files. Which again, I am not endorsing, suggesting or condoning.
There is a refund window that you have on apps purchased through the Market, but I think it was just reduced (and may be as little as 15 minutes). But if you could get the apps refunded, you could jsut repurchase them later.
EDIT:
I found this link. If you scroll down, someone's had problems with 2step verification. This could be helpful.
I finally solved the problem. I made her do another password reset from the browser on her phone, instead of the PC. For whatever reason, it worked this time.
Thanks all for the suggestions.
So the screen on my S3 broke completely today!
Found my old Legend, and put in the simcard, and charged it.. All working fine, except for 1 thing.
I can't connect to my google account. Keeps saying that Username and Password doesn't match. BUT THEY DO.
So i can't even get my contacts from google or go to google store..
I was wandering if i could install CM9.1 on the phone, and possible get the google account working - and get the beneifts of a newer android version!
But when i look at the forum, i don't really see where to start :/
Can anyone guide me through, or link a guide, on how to go from stock Android 2.2 to CM9.1??
btw. im not a idiot with a computer, so it shouldnt be that hard - just dont know where to start..
Are you using two factor authentication? If so, you might need an app password to sign in.
There are some guides around the forum to root 2.2 stock, unfortunately I only kept the tools I needed to root éclair. If you can't find it, perhaps some other could chime in.

Yes i am using the two factor authentication.. But wouldn't the phone normally first ask for the standard password, and then afterwards the second?

Nope, that's only the case if you're signing in to Google via a browser.
Like...
On Chrome mobile...
When you sign-in to Yahoo through Google authentication...
Signing in to any Google site in a browser, like the one you're reading this from...
BUT, there are some cases where you do not use your Google account in a browser, so therefore Google cannot directly ask you for the second authentication, so in this case, you must use an app password:
Setting up Gmail through iOS settings...
Signing in to Google Apps via Microsoft Outlook...
Setting up an android device... <----------- This is what you're doing!
Go here:
https://www.google.com/accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens?hide_authsub=1
Create an app password, and underneath your Gmail account during account setup, put in that one-time use password in its place. Unless you change SIM cards, you won't ever be asked for that password again (and if you do, make a new app password) until you root and change ROMs.
For now, enjoy this!
Good luck with root!

Thank You so much for Your help!
Hey guys, I have been having troubles with Play Store recently. I have been trying to download several apps/games and they take forever to download. It does not matter if it's a 5mb app or a 1.5gb game. It looks to be downloading at about 300kb/s when my internet is 30/5mbps. I have ran speed tests on my phone and I am getting my advertised speed and I have also cleared the Play Store and Google Services data and rebooted but still no luck. I get this problem when I am at home or away on a totally different network. Has anyone else had issues with slow downloads?
My second issue deals with the carrier billing option... Ever since I got my Note 3 I have lost the ability to Bill to Sprint. My girlfriend still has the option and we are on the same plan. I have tried using 3G as well as 4G and still no luck. I have contacted Sprint and they have been no help. I also checked to make sure that I don't have any blocks on my line that would prevent this. My Google Wallet account only has my CC for my Play Music Subscription. I am clueless on this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Started noticing this same thing recently. Was wondering if it was just me...
Edit: download speeds seem to be hit or miss. Sometimes they blaze others they crawl...

Alright, Here is my .2 on the issues you are talking about..
About the speed, I have no clue.
About the carrier billing option, I do have a clue.
So I initially rooted my phone with the CF-Root method and was able to get carrier billing up until a few days ago. I talked to google about the issue and they said it was carrier related. I went into the sprint store and talked to my sales agent that I always go through when ever I need anything sprint related. He had his sales support, customer care, and advanced technical all conferences on the line to figure out what the issue was. Long story short after all the troubleshooting they said it was an issue with the phone. So, after ordering the replacement I have no had the issue with the new one, however.. its not rooted and all stock in fear of losing my bill to carrier options. They didn't ask if my phone was rooted, or even cared to check the status of the phone. I had tripped knox, and kernel counters and was running the MININI3 rom with Freeza's beast mode. kernel like in my sig.
I do want to mention that Ive also never had carrier to billing option on the phone since ive had it.. so if you had it and then lost it.. it is software related and if going back to stock everything (which is what I did) and it still didn't allow the option.. then your phone is hosed.. I do suggest you attempt a warranty swap or have sprint investigate and come to the conclusion that its the phone.

Yeah , it's the problem of stock rom..
Basically its a software problem.
Noticed this consistently as well while using my Wi-Fi but when I turn wifi off and use mobile data I'm getting blazing speeds that I used to get with my wifi...don't get it.

bill to sprint
So does anyone actually have bill to sprint working on a rooted kitkat rom?
I had the option there on sacs kitkat, but kept getting an error about them not being able to verify my account, which I came to the assumption it was because I was using google voice integrated with my phone number. So I disabled the google voice integration, updated prl & profile, but the option is no longer even there.
I've tried restoring sacs, I've tried installing the stockish odex rom, and now I'm downloading the stock unrooted rom to go back to stock & start again. Just curious if anyone has had any success with this.
Thanks.
update- restored to stock unrooted & still not showing the option
update 2- i had 2 google accounts on my phone, when I switched to the main account (never used for carrier billing before), it gave me the option & I was able to set up "bill to sprint", but when I tried using my other google account, the one that I have all previous purchases attached to, it did not give me the option, even after deleting the other account off of the phone.
So I'm not exactly sure what it all means, but at least a possible workaround is to use a fresh google account?? Hope that helps somebody.

I do not know what is going on with Google, I also cannot get back my paid apps, I had a phone that was rooted, took it back unrooted, they could not get it to work, then they gave me a new phone and that also did not solve the problem, so once again there seems to be some kind of software problem going on at google, when I used my other gmail account all my downloads were working except the ones that I paid for and that was over a month ago, so right now I am not a happy cus!tomer, Just my two cents

Do you have both google accounts synced on the phone? (settings -> general -> accounts -> add account -> google...) What I had to do was add both google accounts to my phone.
I have to switch to the new account to download new apps so I can "bill to sprint", then I switch to the old account to download previously purchased apps. ( to switch accounts, there is a drop down list of accounts that shows when you hit the 3 lines in the top left corner on the home page of the play store & then the little arrow next to your gmail address)
tried that!

I tired that several times, it won't down load regular apps now! thanks for the ideal!
I have a Zenpad 8.0 purchased for my wife who has rarely used it, she tried to log in to it recently but forgot the login details, so i factory reset it, it's now come up with a message when trying to sign in "Unable to sign in to device due to a unknown error, please wait 24 hours" I have left it for a week switched off but still cannot log in. I have used the correct email address and tried 3 of our other google accounts.
I tried to get help from an Android forum (https://forums.androidcentral.com/general-help-how/867563-google-lock-out-after-reset.html"]https://forums.androidcentral.com/general-help-how/867563-google-lock-out-after-reset.htm) and they could not help either. I have also been in touch with ASUS with a proof of purchase who say i would have to send it away and because it's out of warranty it would cost £45 shipping cost's before any other charges.
I have tried everything to get into the device but cannot get past the Google account verification and now the tablet is simply unuseable.
I have tried some fixes i have seen on youtube but nothing works,.
Is there a way to root the device in any way?
Anu help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
I' not sure if this will help, and I am assuming you are refering to the login screen that appears when the device boots up?
I remember reading somewhere that on some devices you can bypass that screen by tapping all four corners of the screen, starting at the top left.
Yes, it's the Google account log in screen, I just cannot get past this. Tried everything. Would routing it not do a hard reset? It's very frustrating...
Can nobody seriously help???
unfortunately i cannot yet post links but if you google "asus zenpad bypass google account" then there are some useful youtube videos that could help
