J7 Prime - Emergency calls only - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. First of all greetings to all, I am new around here.
Well, it turns out I bought a second hand J7 Prime a few months ago and everything was working fine. A couple of days ago I noticed that the system was giving me enough failures and I decided to change the ROM, I opted for Android 8.1 Binary 7. The flash was all OK, but when it turned on it was only emergency calls.
Doing a lot of research (I don't know much about cell phones) I discovered that the original IMEI is reported, and therefore, the current one had to be entered with a box or something. I also noticed that the cell phone was rooted before flashing it.
I have passed him some ROMs from different countries but it remains the same.
I would like to know what can be done to get the line back. I have tried a lot of things but I don't get anything, I don't know what else to do. I do *#06# and the IMEI of both chips remain the same (IMEI changed). Thank you in advance!

[Q] Urgent: suddenly lost my phone signal

Hi,
Sometime today I lost my phone signal on my SG2. I'm not sure exactly at what moment as I first noticed that I had a couple of bars but no 3G when I tried to browse the web. So I restarted the phone but to no avail. Since then I've lost all bars and can't make any calls either.
The only thing I have done today "out of the ordinary" was to connect to the phone using Wifi File Explorer to transfer a file, which I tried to connect to without being on a wifi network by first trying the "Wifi Direct settings" in Settings, which didn't work, and then by tethering by Wifi which worked. Maybe some setting got stuck in the process, but I'm not sure since never checked if it worked right before and after.
If anyone has any idea what could be wrong please let me know, as I am literally without a phone!
I recommend downloading http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/communication/no-signal-alert-pro_fyyo.html this will definitely be of benefit to you if your suffering from signal problems, it has been of good use to me.
Check your IMEI is the correct one for your phone .If not restore your backed up EFS folder .
Or try backup data and factory reset as a first step.

Thanks for the quick replies!
The IMEI does not correspond to the one I have written down, though I'm not 100% I what have on my note is the latest IMEI; but how could that change though by itself, if my note is correct??
Also, I just saw something very strange: I turned on my phone and had full bars (no 3G though), and right in front of my eyes all bars dropped, one by one, during the course of 5-6 seconds. Something is VERY off...
Regarding factory reset: my phone is rooted (thanks to XDA!) and I have Tit.backup: can I will my phone still be rooted if I do a factory reset?
Something went probably wrong when rooting it (not neccesarily any errors) and effed up tge EFS folder.
Try to flash back to stock ROM, it might work to restore your.folder.

I should have been more clear on that, but I rooted the phone about a month ago and it has worked flawlessly since then, so it couldn't be that.
Anyway, I looked around a little and found this post:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...connectivity-but-no-idea-why.html#post2722784
He seemed to have had the exact same problem that happened to me, so I decided to wait, and sure enough the connection reestablished itself about an hour ago and while I was watching for it, with the signal slowly creeping back up during a couple of minutes, and several hours after I lost it. Very odd.
This surely has to be an Android bug but that only shows up under certain and rare conditions.
To be sure I made a speed test and got 4.84 Mbps/up, 1.19 down, which I guess is fine; I never did one prior to this so I have nothing to compare to.
Again, appreciate the advice!
EDIT: For posterity, I should add that during these hours, even when I briefly apparently had a (non-3G) signal, I had a notification during all this time saying that I could only make emergency call.
I'm having the same issue. No Bars at all most of the time and when I have some, it never connects to 3G, G at most, and can't load any thing at all.
Very frustrating. I have been using Lite'ning rom 6.1 for a few months and had no problems at all until about a week ago.
I flashed back to a stock rom and still having the same issue.
I've also seen the bars drop down one by one in a 5 second window, bizarre!
Anyone find a fix for this? Or could the phone be faulty?

I was on Lite'ning about 3 weeks ago and actually completely lost signal several times. Reboots and hard resets solved the problem temporarily. I then flashed Batista FH 2.4 with ICS and things were great. I'm now on GingerMod. No issues.
I don't know how it could be kernel related though, especially if you are 100% stock again.

[Q] Unusual problem since XXELLA (JB) update

Hi all this is my first post, nice to meet you all.
Last week I connected phone to Kies and it asked to update to XXELLA (JB) so thought Ok I'll update it. At first was very impressed with some new features etc but my phone has since developed a few rather annoying problems.
1) Battery seems to go much quicker with no extra usage from me. Using the phone the exact same way.
2) Mobile data intermittently stops working after you come off the internet or an app no longer requires a connection. It will be turned on in the setttings but no 3G symbol on top of screen
3) The most annoying issue with this phone now since update is when the above happens (3G turned on but no connection) my phone will not send/receive text messages and will not call out.
I have to power cycle the phone to correct it (restart)
Just to let you know my phone is now rooted but this wasn't done til a few days ago and problem was happening before this.
P.S. I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem with texts etc, but a few weeks ago now I tried calling a mate on O2 only to be joined into someone elses conversation. We both could here the other person but they couldn't here us and I couldn't hear my friend either. Ended the call then rang my friend again and was fine. Just a bit scary that you could be in someone elses conversation unknowingly these days, and you wouldn't have a clue.
Any solution to my problems, other than to revert back to ICS instead of JB are welcome.
As this is a Samsung update contact Samsung service centre .
Or try a factory reset or join XDA and flash stockJB firmware are your choices .
Root voids Samsung warranty
jje
My phone has improved slightly instead of locking up reception as I'll call it when data turned on, it now works for a short while then stops working where as before it was as soon as it was activated.
I'll keep an eye on it and if it doesn't improve i'll unroot and contact samsung or get a custom rom put on and see if that improves things somewhat.
thanks

[Q] No service and changed IMEI number S3 - I9300

Hi guys,
It's been a while since I last posted, but still understand protocol before starting a new thread.....I've searched many places for this answer and come up short because there's a mixture of issues, so here goes:
* Phone purchased second hand by bro-in-law, bought it already rooted, but on a BTU ROM. IMEI in About section is different to that which is displayed on the back of the cover. He only knows how to message, browse and call, so he didn't check these details.
* Don't know the previous stock ROM(i.e., T-Mobile, Voda, 3G or BTU). It is currently on a ROM of I9300XXAELLA and baseband of I9300XXBLFB.
How I find out what the orginal firmware was?
* Phone worked fine for more than 4 months without any hiccups, but recently having signal issues(intermittent disconnections), even with different networks(sim cards). So can't be provider issue. Or can it? Tried the Vanir ROM, issue(s) still persists. Seems to me like a software issue as there's been no physical damage, but can't be sure.
* I can access the mobile network signal settings when the signal is functioning, but not when it goes off. Can't make any calls when this happens or send any messages. Toggling between Airplane modes does the trick on the odd occasion but quite often it won't make any difference, it seems to have a mind of its own.
I'm leaning towards a baseband issue or radio/modem, if these aren't the same things. I'd like to revert it back to stock to see if it that works, but I have no idea which firmware to use because I need a way to find out what would work best in this situation.
That's about all I can think of right now...oh and one more thing, there's nothing backed up i.e., EFS folder or IMEI because nothing came with the phone. If you need any more information, feel free to ask.
Thanks in advance
RJ

[Q] Elife e3 signal problems

Hi,
This is Sreehari. I asked this question in the "XDA Assist" forum, but since there is no forum for my device I was suggested to post it here.
the following is what my issue is:
I have been sing Gionee Elife E3 from October last year. First 3-4 months it worked without any problem.. But after that, it started to have frequently signal strength problems..
Frequently the signal bars goes from full to cross very fast. I cannot make a call at that time, but if I put the same SIM in another phone there is no problem. Even rebooting the phone doesn't solve the issue. many of my friends started to say that it is impoosible to get me on the phone most of the time..
Then I gave it to the service center and they flashed it.. It worked well from that point for around 2 weeks, then the problems started again.. after that I started flashing it on my own.. I installed the Chinese firmware to install custom ROMs (for Indian firmware custom ROMs were not available till recently) to see how it goes.. I tried the ColorOS over the Chinese firmware and things felt alright for around 2 weeks again.. now the problems started again and more severe than ever.. the phone is practically useless now that it cannot be relied at all..
I completely annoyed and puzzled by these.. if it is a firmware problem how does it go away after flashing and return after sometime? Could it be a problem with the radio/modem software?
I love this phone, it is awesome model and I don't want to leave it.. can anyone help me? I am not an Android developer but I do have some knowledge on flashing, recovery, backups etc. I can post any screenshot or logs as needed.
PS: I have a doubt on its wi-fi range as well since that also seems to drop very fast, not completely sure though..
Sreehari
can anyone help??

Headache

Hello, I am one more carrier of an LG V60 although before it was Att, now it is no longer, it has identity problems.
My headache started a week ago when I found a guide on how to do crossflash on any device, I followed the steps but maybe I was wrong about something, I still don't know exactly what it was because I was following the steps until the computer (which didn't it's very slow) it got stuck and out of nowhere I erased all the vital partitions for the phone, when I saw that it didn't turn on I gave it up for dead and I had already stored it (with honors) in a broken cell phone drawer that I have (really, It was next to an HTC U Ultra, U11, an Iphone C and a box from a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 that was stolen from me).
After a few hours a person answered me who said that he had managed to update an Att V60 to Android 11 but it was a very difficult motorcycle, well, I told him a little about the situation and he offered to help me, I am really grateful for the help, well I had already given up my LG for dead, but even with all the help it did not look very good, I spent many hours trying to revive it, at the end of 3 or 4 days it gave a sign of life, I threw the text of LG V60 ThinQ ( although without 5G, which is strange since I had it before) and then it had some red letters indicating that they had not been able to find the necessary documents for the boot, I kept looking until I found the solution (don't ask me how I did it, literally everything came out by following and joining steps and guides as if they were a puzzle) and I finally managed to install a KDZ and update.
Home, Android 11, keyboard and everything like new, seriously, I was filled with joy to see that everything had gone well, configure everything, install the applications that it would occupy and other things, at this point when I turned on I saw the battery 64%, I thought that it was time to move my stuff back to this phone (I have a spare V35) but after a while I noticed strange things, the first one was how hot the phone was, I thought it was because it was being turned on for the first time , Another thing I noticed was that the fingerprint sensor did not read my fingerprint (it is currently repaired) and that good among one of the things that were evident is that I had lost my Imei, I had found a person with a guide that said how to recover it but it didn't work, my QFil doesn't read the qcn I don't understand why.
When I thought that those days of headache were over and all I had to do was enjoy an excellent phone, it was not like that.
Problem list:
- Does not have imei
- Battery drains in a matter of 5 hours or less
-Fast charge missing
-It's always hot
-The CPU has about 4 cores always working at 100% for no reason, even when idle with the screen off and entering the safe mode the phone does not stop being just as hot or with the same workload
I really want you to help me, it's the only phone I've ever had so powerful and so TOP that I wouldn't want to let it die, besides that, I'm in college and the expenses are getting higher and higher and I don't have money to buy another or buy a second-hand one, I also live in latam (I also say this in case some of my words are not consistent, I know a little English and I am also studying but I still do not feel capable of formulating a whole text in English)
If anyone knows what I can do or what I can try to do I will really appreciate it, I really love this phone and I didn't want it to end like this, believe me I'm really sorry I tried to update
