[Q] Desperate Need of Help

So yes, I'm new here, and I really need some help.
To clarify any doubts, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 from AT&T that had the most recent official firmware from AT&T.
Here is the short version:
I tried to install the ClockworkMod Recovery through the Heimdall Suite per the instructions on CyanogenMod's wiki, but now my phone just boots to a screen saying "Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100" with a yellow error triangle at the bottom of the screen. How can I restore my phone or make this work so I can use CyanogenMod on my phone??
Here is the long version:
Ever since my upgrade to ICS my phone has been slow and buggy, so I thought I'd try out the CyanogenMod by following their guide (yes, I was on the correct page for the AT&T version).
This, however, proved to be disastrous for me.
I got to the part of their guide where I was putting the ClockworkMod Recovery onto the device with Heimdall on Windows (I'm running Windows 8 if that matters).
The first time I ran the command in the command line it failed, so I ran it again and it claimed it was successful. The blue bar completed on my phone and then it rebooted. So far so good. However, upon rebooting, it just hangs on the splash screen.
What I see is a black screen with the Samsung Galaxy SII logo with GT-I9100 beneath it and then a yellow triangle at the bottom of the screen with a '!' in it. Obviously, something is wrong, and I'm guessing it had to do with what the guide had me flash on there through Heimdall, since it say GT-I9100, but my phone is the SGH-I777...
I have searched for over 6 hours this morning through many forums and have not found an answer of how to fix this.
Ideally, I would love to either get CM9 (CyanogenMod 9) on here and working, or even just revert back to the stock Gingerbread firmware, since that worked much more smoothly than the AT&T ICS upgrade.
If anyone knows how I can restore my phone, please help!! The more detailed the instructions, the better.
Thank you in advance!!
Turn off your phone.
Hold volume up,down and power buttons. Keep holding the volume buttons, release the power button as soon as the screen with the yellow triangle appears.
I highly doubt you searched enough as this is such a common thing.

Respectfully, I did search, but I must not have been searching for the proper topic. I described it the best I could over and over, but only found lengthy solutions that were bogus.
That said, thank you for your help. I was able to access the menu that way and get everything installed.

Fair enough. Just make sure you search this forum thoroughly before you start a thread, or you will very likely get flamed by others. Good luck.

[Q] My Galaxy S3 is stuck in the boot screen

I was wondering if anyone could help me. My phone had froze and rebooted itself a couple of times which I didn't really think anything of until I replied to a text message and put the phone down, a couple of minutes later I saw out of the corner of my eye that the phone light had come back on. I'd noticed that the phone was rebooting itself again although this time it never got past the black boot screen with the "Samsung Galaxy S III" text in white on it.
My phone is rooted however I never bothered with custom ROM's etc. The only thing I did install was a volume hack package to increase the speaker volume as I kept missing calls because it was too quiet, this had been installed for months and I'd never had any problems with it.
The phone is running 'Stock Ice Cream Sandwich'.
Samsung told me that it sounds like the phone needs to be reflashed but because the phone had been rooted, they wouldn't touch it.
Is my phone now completely knackered? Is there anything I can do myself to get it to work again?
I might also add that I only have access to a Mac computer.
I'd be very grateful to anyone that could help me out as I'm now poor and can't really afford to lose the cash I paid out for this phone. :crying:
Thank you in advance. :good:
If you flashed a custom recovery when you rooted then you can reflash the latest stock rom for your country, read in general stickies how to do this. You should really have updated to this long ago, your phone is currently vulnerable to SDS.
If you have stock recovery then you need a pc with odin installed, I have no idea if this is possible with a mac.
The exact same thing happened to me a few months ago, the system partition just corrupted for no apparent reason - I just went to recovery and rolled back to a nandroid I'd made a few days earlier - it's been fine ever since.

If you have already rooted your phone, you can easily flash the latest firmware corresponding to your country. This is the same way.
Your data were backup on your computer for example? If it's, you can start by cleanning the phone and try to restart it. For that, go to Recovery (Volume Up + Home + Power buttons) and do a "Wipe data/wipe cache". (In the menu, you can move up and down with the two buttons Volume et Select an entry with the Power buttun (by pressing, no holding it).

CWM doesn't work anymore, I can only access the standard Samsung update thing (Volume down - power - home) I have no idea if I backed anything up to be honest, I just followed some instructions off this site to root it and it was months and months ago.

Need emegency flash(phone wont boot, and I need it for work)

Hi everyone! As stated in the title my phone(p769) wont boot completely, I was in the middle of doing the bootloader unlock when I accidecntly replaced the bin during the root process of it with the wrong bin. Instead of replacing it with the v6 tmobile usa one I used the v5 canadian one. Now when I boot my phone up the lg screen is there and then eventually it just hits an android with a red exclamation point. I've tried Re-flashing while its in s/w upgrade mode with the flasher set to emergency, and Ive tried pressing the home button + vol down + power to no avail(it goes through the process but the same thing happens)
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance!
Edit: Also when I try to reflash, it just says it cant communicate with my phone. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times but seeing as how I cant acutally get into the phone Im not sure what else to do.
Edit 2: So ive been trying do something witht his for the past three hours and I cant get anywhere with it. I cant get the phone to show up as an adb device while its in s/w upgrade mode, and at the red exclamation point screenit shows up but as recovery and the lg tools fail to communicate with it. I would really appreciate if anyone knew how to deal with this.
Just in case anyone stumbles upon this and has the same issue I would like to say that i finally got mine fixed.
It has been a long day of frustrations but I finally got it there with the help of some awesome tutorials.
In order to fix it I had to fastboot my phone and flash the default loader and boot then my device would show up in my adb devices and I could sucessfully flash and root it.

HTC Droid DNA Screw Up -Need help-

So, like everyone else, I rooted my phone and decided I dont need all this bloatware and other nonsense system apps.
I was foolish enough not to back up things I were removing, and nothing SEEMED important, but all of the sudden my "Htc dialer": Has stopped working.
My phone will turn on, but I cant turn it off, it just reboots without actually turning the phone off when I hold the power down.
I cant get it into recovery mode ( power vol up) and when it turns on, it goes to the default lock screen the phone comes with, and then I CANT see my home screen at all. The home button doesnt work either.
I cant get to my apps, I have to use my girlfriends DNA to beam whatever app im trying to get to onto my phone.
I can go to settings, but cant factory reset.
I tried killing the battery to get power it off, but then cant get to recovery screen there either.
I'm not sure if anyone has the system apps apk's just laying around so I can attempt to repair my phone, ( my girlfriend wont let me root her phone, but thatll be the next step if no one can help) but any insight as to what I can do would be appreciated.
Try fastboot flashing recovery and then dirty flashing the rom you were on before you started deleting things. This may help you keep your rom setup. If this doesn't work then go to the moonshine thread run the ruu and start from scratch.

Honestly I don't know where to begin with your post. Its all over the place. The phone turns off by holding the power button for 10 seconds and waiting for the capacitive buttons to stop flashing. If your phone turns on its really not possible for this NOT to work. Yes it will reboot this is normal, though once the lights stop blinking you can quickly hold volume down and power to access boot loader and power down fully from there. Recovery is accessed from bootloader too assuming you have one installed. A lot can be done from both bootloader and recovery to solve problems so finding out if you can access them is the first step. I don't understand your statement about the default lock screen showing and you can't see your home screen. Which ROM is it? Which lock screen are you referring to? Why can't you simply unlock the phone? What is stopping you from doing that? Your home button doesn't work and you can't get to your apps...meaning? You can't access the app drawer? I thought you couldn't unlock the device there is conflicting info there. I don't see how you are beaming tasks one at a time through this painful process but I would just avoid that until you've fixed the problem. You can access settings but no factory reset, why? What can you do from settings? And finally you are asking for some apk's "just lying around".....dude your issues seem severe, obviously you are inhibited from using your phone right now but someone giving you some apps won't solve your problem in fact it would probably make it worse. Get into recovery perform a full wipe and flash a different ROM. Also don't mess with deleting apps if your not sure it might screw up your system.

Alright let me try to be a little more descriptive.
So as for the lock screen, I can unlock the screen, but then I see a black screen, no home page/icons. I cant get into the app drawer, when i try to factory reset, it says "rebooting" for a few seconds, screen turns off, right back on to lock screen, sim card says preparing, and then i'm back to where i was, doesnt actually reset. As for the beaming, I can say, open system app remover or file viewer on my girlfriends phone, then beam it, and my phone will open the corresponding app. This is the only way I can get apps to open, since I can't get to drawer or go to home screen.
When I hold down the power button down, the buttons flash, I get a message saying " continue to hold for 3 seconds" it counts down to 1, and then nothing. I can hold it til my arm falls off, nothing at all happens when it hits 1, I also can't power the phone down. If i try to, the screen goes black, capactive buttons turn white, back to lock screen and phone does " preparing sim" and the network/wifi reconnect as if it was just rebooted.
I have the default rom the phone came with, I believe I have a bootloader, I used a guide from this site to perform my root. The folder I have contains distiller, dnashellroot.apk, boot_secure, busybox, su and superuser.apk
dude your issues seem severe, obviously you are inhibited from using your phone right now

The weird part is, other then not being able to turn it off/get into drawer/see home screen, everything else works. If i get a text, i can drag down and select it and it opens. If i open gmail on my GF's phone and beam it, will open Gmail and function 100%. Same goes for any app we both have that I beam.
I just used my rooting method to force bootloader up, which worked, but when i hit recovery, im looking at a picture of a phone laying down with a orange triangle/exclamation point in the center of it.

Ok - fact of the matter is that you might want to try getting into recovery via the bootloader (vol down + power from off). If you can access the recovery module from there, you are then able to click advanced (using TWRP) then click sideload. You will then need to use ADB to sideload a new ROM onto the phone, then install via TWRP. Hopefully you might even still have the old .zip for the current ROM that you're using and just really need to get to recovery.

I can get into bootloader, i tried recovery, i get a verizon screen bootloader but just resets phone after a few minutes.
At my friends suggestion i just got TWIP installed and now i'm just waiting to see what she suggests next. I figured out thanks to my advance app killer I can get to the play store whenever i need to, and then open any apps i've installed through there. Stupid work around, but hey, it works lol.

Well if you just got TWRP installed via fastboot or goo manager you should be pretty well set. Download a new ROM, reboot into recovery and install. I would suggest wiping the davik and cache - possibly even the system just to give you a fresh start.

Absolutely! I first started out on XDA when I got my first android phone; MyTouch 3g (HTC Magic). I then took my tinkering to full fledged modding where I was charging to overclock, root and unlock phones. It used to be fairly profitable, now there's one click steps for everything. Glad you were able to figure it out instead of having to take it to someone! Good work!

Easier Recovery Mode Access and Download Mode Soft Brick Bootloop Fix

Greetings Everyone,
First, as a newbie to this site, thanks for all the great assistance. Two suggestions to other newbies, if I may be so bold.
1) Recovery Mode - In literally hours of searching, I couldn't figure out why my S3 wouldn't go into recovery when pushing Volume Up, Home, and Power keys. Finally, I found one post that suggested I push the Volume Up and Home Keys first, then press the Power Key. This has worked consistently ever since. Don't know if it's a quirk specifically to the S3, but it certainly empowered me.
2) Download Mode Soft Brick Bootloop - My S3 was soft-bricked with a bootloop in Download mode. I searched for hours for a solution. Finally, one post said I simply had to use Odin to give it something to Download, which would subsequently release it from its bootloop. When I did this, the progress bar magically appeared, the file transferred, and when it was done, my phone was no longer stuck. Problem solved.
Since these two fixes worked for me, but were so hard to find, I thought I'd post them again, in case someone else gets stuck in the same hell I was. Literally spent a day on these two issues alone.
Thanks again to all. I surely would have been stuck in many other states of confusion if it wasn't for this wonderful forum. Best to all.
