I have granted root access with Magisk, and I'm using the paid PRO version of Titanium Backup. The app can freeze/unfreeze apps fine, and it (seems to) backup apps fine. But, whenever I try to restore an uninstalled app, it says "Restoring App+Data" and never progresses further. I have to force close the app. What should I do?
I also have this problem.
Someone said that UNchecking the developer options: "[ ] Verify apps over USB" worked to fix this.

Ok I have both mybackup pro and titanium backup, I did 2 backups before I wiped and flashed a new ROM.
Mybackup pro isn't working for some reason, once I set it to restore app&data it does the process super quick and pops up a menu that says it finished and it must restart.
So titanium I can restore the apps but it asks me for permission to install every single app and there are over 200 (it apparently backed up system apps as well). Is there a way it can just automatically these apps back without asking for my permission to install on ever single one?

Yes. You must purchase the titanium pro license to get the functionality you are describing. If you purchase the license you won't need to accept each app.
ok, thanks.
Installed latest titanium backup pro, and i can backup anything fine, and restore Data for an app, but not restore an app itself. Not ones ive uninstalled or ones i still currently have installed... help??
EDIT: I fixed it, incase anyone else reading this also has the problem
Open Ti backup, go to preferences, scroll down to troubleshooting settings and open 'app processing mode'
choose one of the 3 options, one should work. for me it's the 'interactive' setting
Why would only the classic installer work on Lollipop? What a pain! I have an LG G stylo. I hate this ****ing phone

Yes this functions individually not for a batch restore, moreover, applet is installed then reboot and later data is to be installed and yet again reboot to have the application with data; all this has to be done manually. Sheer agony to have any application restored. Hyper shell in this mode turns off. No other improvements have been found yet.
Thank you

I am using Ultimate backup I like the interface much better then titanium backup.
Anyways I freezed some apps to test then I unfreeze, I mean it says that its worked It definatley does freeze them thats forsure. But the problem is when i go to unfreeze them it says its unfrozen but the app does not appear in the app drawer again and when I go to ultimate backup and try launch from there it says it cannot be launched so then I restart my phone and i go back into ultimate launcher and it shows the apps as being frozen again what the hell!!
can I get some help here please
Never used that never seen any users reporting it on XDA .
Suggest contact the developer .

When I installed (Root uninstaler) I had the same problem when freezing and unfreezing, They are all the same concept as titanium backup.
something has to be wrong with my phone setup
the frozen apps are the same format as all the other backup apps. Titanium, root uninstaller, ultimate backup.
I have just installed Titanium and it picks up the apps as being frozen and gives me the option to defrost and when I click it , it says its been defrosted ad is ready to use. But then I go to view it again and it still shows as frozen arghhH!!!
ok so i found a fix apparently there is something coded into the firmware that doesnt allow unfreezing but an app called app quarantine patches something and then asks to reboot , after reboot your apps are restored.
run the app and all frozen apps appear in quarantine list you can unfreeze them there then reboot
is there a permanent fix so that u dont need app quarantine because this process has to be repeated each time you try to unfreeze
I haven't been able to defrost with Titanium or Root Installer on the S3 at all, no idea why, I'm afraid. As far as I know the only way to restore is a wipe.
read my last post fully, you will see the fix
Good find, thanks!
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S Duos (GT-S7562L). I've rooted it by installing clockwork mod and then root. I'm also using a combo of Ext2Int and Link2SD to get around issues with the limited 2gb internal memory.
I've been using this configuration for a while and have been through a few firmware updates where I simply had to reinstall cwm and root, reconfigured Ext2Int and Link2SD and was okay.
However I now ran into an issue where linked apps fail to run.
Titanium Backup wasn't backing up the linked portions of the apps, I think. So restoring them wouldn't be much help.
I tried removing links and running apps again but that fails. I tried uninstalling, downloading and linking an app and that worked.
I don't want to have to go through the rigmarole of doing that for all my apps, is there a way to mark all apps as requiring an update from the Google Play so I can use Google plays "update all" feature with Link2SD's built in "auto linking after updating a linked app" feature
Thanks.
Otherwise, maybe I'll just restore my backup and turn off firmware updates.

Okay, I tried doing restore from Titanium backup and that seemed to have done the trick. I guess it does backup across links...
I'm on Hyperdrive RLS15. Hyperdrive has the Samsung keyboard as a system app. In the interests of paranoia, I'd like to make the Samsung keyboard a user app (not a system app) so I can disable internet access, via AFWall+, XPrivacy, etc.
I tried converting to a user app with Titanium Backup, but that failed (Cannot convert "Samsung keyboard 1.0" to a user app.) I backed up the keyboard with Titanium Backup and copied the apk out of /system/data, then uninstalled the keyboard. I tried installing the apk from ES File Explorer, but that appeared to fail silently - I couldn't select it in Settings. Then I went to Google Play and was going to install from there, but the only choice was to Uninstall, so I did that. Then the option was Update. I tried updating, and again no obvious way to see anything installed.
Last, I restored from Titanium Backup, and I'm back where I started.
My questions:
1) Is there a way to change an installed app from a system app to a user app, given Titanium Backup failed?
2) Is there a way to modify a Titanium Backup backup to change it from a system to a user app?
Thanks
