So i just got one used and I'm noticing the ram meter never goes above 4g, my apps get restarted frequently when i open more than 6 , and there's an "s pen" section in advanced setting, which doesn't make sense. Does anyone else experience the same thing ? Or did i get one with crappy custom rom and should return immediately ?

I think this device has a custom ROM installed, that's why you have such issues.
maybe wrong custom rom on wrong device download letest stock firmware of ur device nd flash it. then everything will be ok

but before i go through with all the hassles , i just wanna know if anyone with the same phone, on stock rom, get to use all the available ram ? ( or at least most, ideal for me would be 500mb free left so i can multitask to my heart's content ).
currently i have 1.8g just sitting there doing absolutely nothing, while my apps get killed. if stock rom doesnt change that then i'll just dump this and get something with 8g ram
i use this device G965U modal , nd if u buy any device there will be always around 40% ram used without installed any app by yourself cause of preloaded app nd also there's always system reserved memory around 500mb in 6 gb ram modals

yes this is when im opening all of my work related apps. i also want to open youtube or reddit sometimes without reloading any of the apps before them. 6g supposes to let me do that, but it doesnt
do you have to reload any app with that much free ram ?
i normally dont use lots of apps together , but sometime i use 4-6 app without reload during switching apps. but there r some apps nd games if i hold them for long time in task bar or in background they need to start again ... which modal is ur device??

mine is G965N running custom rom. can you try out an experiment for me ? open about 10 apps then quickly switch between them to see if any has to reload. also see whats you maximum ram usage is. many thanks

I migrate my s2 all about 740 apps into the new galaxy s3,and then I reboot s3 to go into the apps folder using brief mode to view all the apps like the second picture as follows,and I find slip down or up lag vey much,I find when installed about 200 apps will cause this issue,and I go to the settings->sound->auto haptic will be forced closed,the same go to the settings->application manager will be forced closed too,or maybe into the downloaded apps list and slip down or up lag vey much also,go to the settings-> language and input will dely about 3 seconds to get in,and I compare the s2 and s3 with the same 740 apps installed to boot to the desktop speed,s2 is faster than s3 very much,and compare the cwm backup time to backup into internal /mnt/sdcard folder is the same,finally compare to create /data folder into tar with gzip using root explorer ,the create speed of s2 is faster than s3 also,I have try to flash any kernel & ROM to solve the issues on board is useless till now,below is the titanium backup 700 apps download url,anyone interested can download using titanium backup to restore hundred apps to test it....

Actually I often used only 10 apps,about 740 apps,The main reason is I have the collection hobby,the second reson is the smart phone is very Expensive need to the best use of,the third is the google play store is full of tens of thousands of apps,I don't want to waste time to look for the good apps when I need to use,so when others say what apps is good to use then I will download it to install,I create 16 folders on destop to classify each apps belong in order to find to use quickly like the picture as follows,and I will use the autostarts apps to do the startup manager jobs to control apps do not take up too much memory, as time goes by I got used to,everything is going fine when I use galaxy S2,everything is smooth,faster,quickly,until I migrate my S2 to S3 the nightmare as I described first is coming...which master can fix these issues...plz...
actually, you can delete those apps you dont really need thru root explorer (or counterpart) but be careful to do it. Below is the attached guide for the apps' use & functions.

I'll try it....Thanks for your information......but I think this is the bug of settings.apk /odex ,and touchwiz UI,as to the cwm backup Performance is poor,may be the problem of cross partition read & write becoz S3 use the new technology to merge the capacity of /data & /mnt/sdcard...
back to report,I solve two problems,one is the cwm 5.5.0.4 v 1.5 backup time performance is not good,I use the official touch version cwm 5.8.4.3 the backup performance improved Several times than cwm 5.5.0.4,and another is apps folder using brief mode to slip down or up lag vey much,I downgrade the touchwiz UI to the modded TouchWiz 4 for ICS then all the smoothly...
The remaining are two forced closed problems,I think that is settings.apk /odex need to tuning...maybe others release soon ...

Please bare with me since I am still learning about android and so my question is, how can I recover my applications from my tablet after I have rooted it. since the stock/original applications takes up 8 gigs of space of my internal memory. I just cannot seem to access/delete those 8 gigs??
I flashed cyanogen 9 to my SGT2.10.1 and it was successful, although I am stuck on trying to recover my applications from the partition internal memory. Of course I have done a variety of steps to recover them and some of the steps I took are:
1. I tried using the spk tool - I really do not know how to use it and I am having a hard time figuring it out
2. Trying to delete and reformat the internal memory - was not successful since it only erased of what I currently had on the rooted and partitioned memory, thus my original/stock application are still within the internal memory.
3. I tried using applications such PC36IMG-AmonRA-3.07-gnm.zip - I changed the name to PC36IMG but flashing it lead to installation fail/aborted
4. I tried recovering them with titanium back up - but the application couldn't see my original/stock applications
5. Also tried using Astro File manager - Same results as TBU
6. Deleting the files from my pc via usb- it does not give me an option to reformat it
Any suggestions? this is the final step that I need to complete to finally enjoy my retarded galaxy tab 2
U can't run system apps from stock ROM on a custom rom . some of them probably can . Titanium backup backs up only user apps like games and stuff unless u say it to do it specifically .
So if u could get the apk of the app u are looking for , try moving it to system/app with permissions rw-r--r-- . Reboot .
If it works , buy me a beer . Or else , well do nothing. !

Everyone keep mentioning "move it to system/app" I really wish I could but I have looked through the folder many times and the 8gig of apps are not showing up. They must be hidden in another folder or partitioned. Another thing I want to add to that statement is I do not even know how to do it? I apologize if I am sounding like a total nub but what is permissions rw-r-r? I do not understand. Please guide me through because I cannot fully enjoy the quality of my device if 8 out 13 gigs is being used up with me having any access and ability to delete them. Pretty please

Go to data/app. That's where the other apps are stored. And system apps don't occupy 8Gb of space! I believe the /system partition is given only 500 mb of space.!
It must be something else that's taking so much space. If you made Nandroid backups, it will be around 2GB each. Or if you have too many files.
And about the permissions, if you put an app in /system, you will have to set right permissions.
To get an idea of it, just go to system/app and just long press on any app, hit permissions, you should see the permissions like the one in pic.
And you will have to reboot for the changes to apply.

I can't move them since I can't see the apps prior to flashing cm 9 or give them permission coz its just not showing up. This applications are BEFORE flashing cm 9 which is taking a lot of my memory. I have rebooted numerous times even formatting it as well

We lower the 3rd AdbDriverInstaller , open it and give to install and wait for it to install. takes 2-3 minutes)
Now lower the 4th Root ICS Unlocker 1.0 and decompress
5th Then hit ICS_Root_Unlocker and will get a screen of msdos, now press a button and you restart the phone and the display of msdos you will leave press any key to continue (do not turn to light up the phone completely), pressing and restarts again and again will leave you press a key to continue (and as before do not turn to light up the phone completely).
That depulsa 6th key to continue and you wait for a restart to give 4O5 Ships times have patience!

I couldn't find any ROMs sadly and reading thru some Spanish forums there is an unofficial older CWMod version but left it alone in the end as I struggled a little the language!
In the end i rooted using ICS Unlocker (easy), and jelly beaned up the ICS ROM with the JB Camera, Dialer and Holo hd launcher, beats audio and a few other zip or apk tweaks.
After a few hours of tweaking, I am very happy with the final result - for £60 its a total bargain!!
PS. Once rooted download and install Root Uninstaller (Green Robot version) and get shot of those chinese apps.
PPS. I also installed the Custom Locale (Flag icon version) app from the store which allows you to set English UK rather than the default US version and also allows you to subsequently update the the spell check and voice search accordingly and I also installed the latest Google keyboard for the swipe functionality.

hmm.. same problem here and app2sd apps dont help. tooky camera wont shoot and gives SD-kaart vol (in dutch) while storage in settings gives 6 of the 8 gig is free.
wonder if its firewal antivirus or some illigal app i'm using, even looking for a reroot, but hey, same problem you report!

I would try two things, one is to clear the cache and the other is reoptimize the SQLite database. If the lagging starts after a few days it is probably the cache, but if it takes longer than this it is probably the SQLite database. The easiest way to fix these things is with init.d scripts so that they happen on every reboot. There are also a bunch of scripts or apps that you can also install that will also do these for you. Something like the V6 supercharger of Pimp-my-ROM will probably let you do both.

Thanks for replay , i was thinking that it's an app that is goning to be launched but but it probably doesn't so i tested the apps one by one an then i figured out that it was because of android.process.acore related to contacts , when launched in background it reduces ram in foreground and if killed it increases ram usage in foreground so no solution its amount of ram usage is always used if in background or foreground :/

There are lots of ways to optimize the SQlite database. It is often installed as an init.d script as part of a tweak/mod package. For example both the V6 supercharger and the Thunderbolt packages can be used to install a SQlite cleaner. I think there are also stand alone apps that will do it for you for ex: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1268522 I also think that something like sd maid from the play store also has the option for cleaning up the SQlite database. Look for SQlite vacuuming or SQlite defragging and a lot of things should pop up .
Hi guys. This mobile is a bit old, I know, but it can still run many games (especially gacha)... But sometimes some games won't simply run. I install the game (so this means my Device is compatible) but, when I run it, the screen goes black and it ends up coming back to the Dekstop. Why does it happen? It happens mostly when I run Square Enix games (for example Kingdom Hearts Union X... I installed and played it for a whole day... Then the device rebooted itself and the game would not run anymore). And the same thing just happened with Dissidia Opera Omnia. I installed it through QooApp ( I could not dowload it on Google PlayStore because of protections made by the Software House) and I played it for many days. And there was no lag too! But now, after I rebooted my mobile, the game won't run anymore. I can still play heavier games, so I guess this problem is not related to the Hardware. My mobile has:
ROM LineageOS based on Android 7.1.2. I flashed it through Custom Recovery TWRP (last version), opened Root and installed Magisk 15.3 with SuperUser incorporated. I've tried everything to make it run. I've switched between Internal Storage and SD, cancelled the cache, put the App on MagiskHide.. Nothing happened, I simply can't run in anymore. What can I do?

G2 is almost 4 years old phone with an old processor
And the games are been updated as per the new processors and new device compatible .

I don't really know. I only used this (with this 2 games that I have this problem) Rom.
I'm worried because I had to play it in japanese version (Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia) and I couldnt use Cloud Save because JP version isnt compatible with European Google Play Games and they dont use a Facebook Login to save it in Cloud... so I'm pretty sure that I have already lost all my progress in the game.. of course if there is a way to let this run again to save my progresses.

Did u played this games on g2 while it was on stock versions ???(5.1,6.0)??

I never played them on Stock.. I have this Rom since 2-3 Months .. I tryed them 5 days ago and the European version wont run .. after that I tryed the japanese one and run smoothly but today I rebooted the Device and now they wont work.

Dont know much ! But few games like gameloft , and other online games need vpn
