I have been using custom ROMs on galaxy s3 (t-mobile) and have overclocked a bit. The bootloader was already unlocked so all I had to do was flash TWRP and use that to flash ROMs. I'm willing to talk through discord (LOCDOGBOSS#7775). I have looked at the
WTF bootloader unlock and I have to downgrade my software. I just need some help on getting the bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed. Thanks.
This is my first post so if I got some of the terminology wrong or grammar issues or miss-spelling that's why, also I'm open to being corrected if I do something wrong so feel free to mention it, I'm still learning how all this works and I really enjoy it.

Hi, I'm sorry for the probably stupid question but I've been trying to unlock and have been having a few issues. I'm running AT&T 4.5.91 OTA (rooted) and would like to unlock.
I have read the warnings about flashing to lower versions and am aware that I am unable to do so. The problem I am running into is that after running the command fastboot oem unlock, I am never given a device id so i can unlock my device. Any ideas on ways I can fix this?

1. How does rooting/flashing roms go? Is their any all in one tool or something? Tutorials?
2. I see the warning thing on the top of the dev section. Can someone explain it a little simpler?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...er UNLOCK/ROOT for AT&T 1.26/1.57/1.83/4.5.91
Click the link above and read it carefully.
Follow everything the command say. It will let you root and unlock the boot loader
When unlocking bootloader make sure at no point do you take the cable out, if you are asked at any point to select a command on the phone but it does not let you just carry on with the process. It worked for me. Mine was locked to Gingerbread 2.3.6 build 4.5.141
The warning links were posted so that if people had pre Gingerbread Atrix, they should not update over the air or there was a high chance of bricking the phone which would mean no recovery from it whatsoever.

I had a stock, locked Atrix on 4.5.141 (the latest release) and it went perfectly fine. I found a video that really helped (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6a0BWquqAc). It should guide you step-by-step through the process. Good luck, and join us on the CM7/Neutrino side!
Well my father just got this phone but the bootloader is locked, I was reading some post how to root it, but in all of them is mention that it must have unlock bootloader.
So, Is there any method how to root this phone with locked bootloader?

Rooting the phone has nothing to do with bootloader(locked or unlocked)...just visit the link given by predator or visit here.
Hello everyone. I've been looking into rooting and all for a little while now, and there's something that's really confusing to me. I read that there's a developer note 4 for verizon that has n unlocked bootloader, and I don't understand this. I know my note 3 has a locked bootloader, but I see that it can be rooted, so what's the difference? I really don't understand if it can be rooted, why it matters.
Also, I've looked into cyanagenmod, and it seems it's really easy to load it onto my phone, but does it work on a phone with a locked bootloader etc? Does it have to be rooted first? It's all quite confusing and seemingly contradictory.

rooting lets you modify system files,
unlocking the bootloader lets you use custom recovery and custom recovery lets you flash a custom rom like cyanagen

You don't need to unlock your bootloader on a Samsung Note model as they don't require you to unlock it. Just flash a new one using Odin and you should get going.

root access only allows you to make modifications to the rom while the bootloader unlock lets you install any custom rom
Hello,
[Okay i'm going to be quite honest, i might sound like an idiot on my post haha.] I just got my LG G3 and i've already root'd and got twrp and everything but i just saw a thread about bump and "Unlocking your LG G3" and having to do with Bump. I'm curious does that mean you can unlock your phones sim?? lol i might sound like an idiot or does it mean that we can now flash roms from lets say the GSM model of the G3 or roms from the Verizon model etc. This isn't a troll post i'm just that stupid lol. Anyways if someone can help me get a better understanding of this Bump software.
Does it mean unlocked bootloader? omg lol im an idiot..
Well as of right now there is no bootloader unlock. Bump is just a modified version of twrp for our device. The normal twrp from the twrp website works fine its mostly on prefrence. Before we had offical twrp we had to bump but now you can use either.
Sorry but can you explain what a bootloader is and why its important? Sorry for being stupid ?
No problem! (I have no problem with helping if you want you can PM me)
a bootloader is code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. Boot loaders are basically packages that have instructions to boot the operating system kernel.
Bootloader are bad because it makes it much much much hard to run custom roms (custom os) and kernels. That is why we have bump it pretty much goes around the face that the bootloader is locked. If someone got ours unlocked then you can make roms a lot easier.
One a nexus for example once you unlock the bootloader you can install custom roms such as cm. Since ours is locked devs have to make the rom then they have to go and "bump" it that way the bootloader doesn't get flagged and brick itself.
Alrightthanks for clarifying that. I didnt know that the LG G3's bootloader was still locked, i guess thats why i see alot of rom threads being closed for the G3
Maybe if we (ls990 users) made a bounty someone may "find" a way to unlock our bootloader

To be clear, "normal" TWRP works fine because it has been "bumped." Without Bump there would be no way to load a non-stock recovery.
Bump, while not a true bootloader unlock , is a work-around that provides pretty much the same benefits. Without it, you would not be able to flash any custom recovery, and without a custom recovery you'd be unable to flash any custom ROMs.
Thank you for more clarification
