Phone bricked? Won't power on anymore. - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

I flashed TWRP which worked, rebooted into TWRP so that still worked then tried wiping but got a mount error, I tested if it would install the img anyway and still mount error, so I changed slot from A to B, since then its just black screen and not recognised on PC at all.

First of all, what did you wipe in TWRP? /data?
Have you ever installed an OTA update? If not, you can't boot into the other slot. Same if you restored via MSM. You need to do one local upgrade until the B slot is bootable.

That will be what it is, I didn't do a OTA update. Is there a way to get back to the original slot?
I tried deleting data.

Mounting and formatting of /data is not supported on older TWRPs. Try the most recent one from mauronofrio here on XDA if you want to format it (at least for custom ROMs).
For Oxygen OS I would suggest using "fastboot -w" instead as OOS still can't be decrypted.
Probably either use the MSM tool or use "fastboot --set-active=a" and then try "fastboot -w" if it doesn't boot.

I can't currently get into TWRP though at the moment, after I changed slots its just powered off all the time and not recognised on pc I haven't used any tools though.
So I guess MSM tool might work, but would that work if currently the pc isn't recognising a usb device connected?

Thanks for help so far, one final thing I hope when I picked up phone it gave me the full screen battery power too low to turn on message so it gave me hope I can fix it, I charged it for about 10 minutes and it gave me the "bootloader unlocked press power to pause" screen.
What is best thing to do here? Let it fully charge then connect to PC and try the MSM tool or let it drain and then connect to pc instead of charger and let it charge till its recognised by pc?

Actually, I noticed I am able to now get into TWRP without connecting to pc, and switch back to slot A, but it said no OS installed.
Do I still need to flash via the MSM tool or can I just update TWRP then install stock rom, update then go back into TWRP and install custom? Or what is best way?

You can either flash OOS via the latest TWRP (and probably do fastboot -w) or I would just use the MSM tool which is much easier and gets you a fresh install

Bricked Tablet

I really Need Help! My computer wont recognize my tablet in fastboot mode, and my tablet wont read my micro SD card, also when i turn it on normally it stays at splash screen and when its plugged in to the computer the computer starts installing the drivers and it fails to install each time. I go to troubleshooting options and it states code 10. which states device cannot start.
I Have looked for ways around this, like manually installing the drivers, and my computer wont let me. Also the tablet can go to both: bootloader, and Clockworkmod recovery.
I factory reset my tablet so I cannot install anything, untill i get it to connect to my computer.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit on my computer!
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thanks!

Maybe this helps
I had a similar issue but my tablet couldn't be identified by windows, at first i thought it was my drivers so i tried to install new ones but windows wouldn't let me stating the same code 10. At the end it was a defective usb cable, i bought a new one and everything worked all right the first time i plugged it in. And by the way i was stucked at the CWM loop. [Q] fastboot, adb, rsd doesnt work on xt910

Hi, i bought a phone from a guy that said the battery is dead.
i bought new battery, installed, phone works (i was happy), and started to charge it, as new battery had 20%.
after a while it showed 30%, but then i noticed it went back to 20%, untill it died with "white light of death".
i hotwired the battery, let it charge to 80%
tried to switch back to wall charger, but again, although it says its charging battary drains, same with usb cable to pc.
i also noticed that battery drains very quick without any charge, so i thought maybe its firmware issue.
i installed every possible driver and rsdlite, but it just wont connect in adb or fastboot mod
i thought usb port in the phone is damaged, but it shows charge when connected, and also in some option in the bootloader it does recognize the phone as mz 600 something, but that doesnt help.
the phone currently have what seems to be stock GB + stock recovery
i tried to get Safe Strap recovery, but it didnt work.
from what i read the only firmware updates (not rom) are via fastboot.
i probably can flash custom rom via the stock recovery, but im not sure if it would help.
did anyone experience something similar?
Hi all,
I have Motorola XT621 Primus, after some playings with it and trying to root and add RTL patching i got a brick.
Now the status is that i have fastboot mode working but bootloader is locked, no recovery working and no ADB working, no boot too.
I tryed many ways to flash or unlock bootloader but nothing works. Any commands like fstboot oem got output like (...)
Is there any way to unlock bootloader via fastboot and flash new rom or it completely bricked?
Thanks!
if you have fastboot you can flash recovery

Just make sure you have a good battery or you will have to get a factory cable if the battery say battery low.

Get the gb firm, unzip it, and flash one by one the archives, if you don't know how, open the .xml and there are the commands, you can do it in linux/windows, i had a similar problem, cannot flash anything, my razr only turns into fastboot by using factory cable, and wired the battery, flashing couple of files, then i did flashed one by one and get error in webtop, but it work, the razr turn on (i did this in linux), then i where able to charge the battery and connect to windows, run the rsd, put another jb firm (had to download 5-6 'till i get the right) and works like a charm.
You need the android sdk tools, the latest fastboot, your drivers and some good luck. :good:
(Sorry my bad english)
By the way, if you get the "battery low" line, it doesn't matter, you need to use the factory cable + the battery wire to charger metod, do it and you'll get the O.K.
I have exactly the same problem.. Can we do something vía stock recovery?

troubleshooting to connect the phone to the PC

Hi all,
by cons for several weeks I've a concern with my redmi Note 2 and I can't find the answer to my problem on the forum or even the Internet.
Since the last update 7.2.2 (global) I have the Recovery MIUI who crushed the TWRP. I changed to test 6.3.17. The update to the .24 went wrong and I don't know why. Since the phone is bootloop. But the problem is that my phone is not recognized by any PC. I tried several PCs, several cables, several drivers, with or without the Fastboot, unable to connect. Therefore impossible to load a new version. I don't think it's material problem because the phone recharge well with a cable to the socket.
Is there another handling or debug decision to restart the phone? I'm in France for information.
thank you in advance if you can point me to a solution !
Hope someone can help me.
Manu
Can the phone boot to miui recovery? If so, you should be able to use miui recovery to flash TWRP (I think you will need one with a signed install zip). You only need to take out the external SD, put it in one of those cheap USB card readers, copy your recovery and ROM to the SD, put it back in the phone, flash TWRP with miui recovery, and then flash the ROM with TWRP (I am assuming that miui recovery can install things from the external SD - if not, then none of this will work).
Hi Bro,
Yes it boot in MIUI recovery but impossible to get access to the SD Card...
I tried to put the file on the SD card but you can't choose the path, I think the recovery will look only in the internal memory ... And as I can't access the internal memory..
I despair !!
Thanks o lot for your help

So, when the battery is removed, and you connect the USB cable, the phone is not even vibrating (and making that weird sound) every couple of seconds or so?

Well, then it is very strange that you can't use the SP Flash Tool. If the phone vibrates, then the device is recognised, and you should be able to flash anything you want with the SP Flash Tool! How exactly were you trying to use the Flash Tool?
I tried so many solutions I really don't know exactly how I used the software.
I will again try everything.
But against any changes when I look in the USB settings of the PC, the phone doesn't appear.
I try again just now, thank you for your help.

With the SP Flash Tool, all you need is the correct "scatter" file (MT6795_Android_scatter.txt), and the image(s) that you want to flash. If the phone is vibrating, then the SP Flash Tool should be able to connect to it when you click "Download". Just make sure that you first untick everything that you do NOT want to flash. I would try flashing the boot image (boot.img) first. If that succeeds, then try the TWRP recovery image.
Ok. I'm going to try again with "http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=196175&highlight=sp%2Btool%2Bflash%2Bredmi%2Bnote%2B2"

Strange! I am assuming that when you connect the phone with the USB cable, the battery has been removed from the phone? If so, then it should work.
Perhaps you should try first connecting the phone, and then waiting until it has vibrated once or twice, before clicking the "Download" button?
Yes I removed battery before connect the phone to PC. I tried also with battery and nothing changed.
I even changed the cable to be sure.
Which seems to me most strange is that I see nothing in the device manager, as if the phone wasn't connected. Whatever the installed driver is the same result. I think it should at least have the phone on the COM or USB port ...
I will try again this night to be sure with all steps one by one. And I will also try with ACER tablet I and runs Android 5.1. Maybe it will be recognized.
Otherwise I also tried to pass a Linux PC as a last resort.
Thanks again for your help.

Yes, it should. The fact that the phone vibrates when connected indicates that the PC and phone are communicating - but it may well be that a low-level driver in the phone has been overwritten (which may mean that this is a lost cause). A final idea - can miui recovery access usbotg?

I don't think it is a crack on the USB plug. It seems to me to be a low-level driver problem - ie, the drivers on the phone that are active when the phone is not (fully) booted up. I don't have the right terminology for these drivers, but they are possibly part of the bootloader. If that is the problem, then I don't know how you would solve this problem.

Samsung A8 not being detected in download mode

I've been attempting to recover my samsung galaxy A8 from a brick, by flashing the original firmware for 3 days. I successfully got TWRP flashed, and couldn't connect to the phone using MTP, so I ended up using an SD card to transfer the firmware zip. Long story short, I tried to treble it, and it completely bricked, leaving me without TWRP, or anything to boot.
I've put it in download mode, swapped through 10 different USB C cables, and still can't get my PC to recognize it. I've tried two computers, one running arch linux, and the other one through windows 10 and arch linux. Nothing. Whenever I run "lsusb" I can't see the phone. I also can't see it in device manager.

My phone doesn't boot. I deleted the system partition. It's on a bootloop, and the only thing I can do is access download mode.
I was able to plug it in. I used the sim card remover to try to clean up the port.. I'm seriously an idiot...
