Why is it that Redmi Note 8 Pro with the same CPU has a much more active Custom ROM community compared to Realme 6? Is it due to the display or because of Realme?

There isnt even a way to unlock bootloader yet. And with that no twrp either. So you cannot create custom roms as long as the phone isnt rootable.

Where? The one thread with the deeptest realme 6 pro doesnt work on the regular realme 6.
nobody cares about eu model.. i am looking for weeks to unluck my bootloader.. always get ****ty answers like just take the realme 6 pro WORKS. NOT!
i dont know why realme devices that are newer get those options and realme 6 dont. if you ask me realme 6 should be on the first place instead of the pro version

Hello guys, i currently own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime, and so far i love it!
But i have had some problem with it (battery life, no HDR etc) since there is not a "Stable" rom for it...
I've read that it's "harder" (if we can say that) to create a stable ROM if it's a MediaTek Processor, is that true?
And since Redmi Note 3 Pro will have Snapdragon 650, will it be easier to create stable ROMs for it?
If you ask why i don't use MIUI 7, well i really want to use MIUI 7 for my Redmi note 2 but it doesn't have my native language and therefore i use a custom ROM instead.
answer is yes but

SD chipset officially supports cyanogenmod so answer is yes,but there is catch... xiaomi locks bootloader so for unlock it will take you up to 15 days .... xiaomi must give you permission to do that .... so better to know that before you do anything .... must be some global rom for redmi note 2 prime miui 7.1.... i'm not sure witch language you want ....

They lock it?
That's the first time I ever heard that android device needs permission to unlock something.
But how come i didn't need any permission to install a custom ROM in my redmi note 2 prime?
I just found a ROM and installed it and it worked great! (Well almost)
The language i want to use I Swedish, but it isn't available in MIUI 7

i dont know any for swedish but they locked it before 2-3 weeks .... now must do it... there is no recovery before unlocking bootloader... also cant flash twrp or cwm before unlock so you must wait .... any user can unlock it but wait up to 15 days... its easy to root, flashing beta miui roms but CANT ACCESS RECOVERY its all about "user security" and site like icloud called "i.mi.com" ... there is software for unocking but you must log in with your acc and must have permission on acc to do that... so it becomes complicated SADLY XIAOMI ... Sorry for a late reply, but damn Xiaomi is becoming more and more like Apple with their updates to prevent hackers to jailbreak the phone...
This is is taken from the link and I quote: "but also to fill in the details, including your “reason to unlock” description — yes, you must explain to them why you want to unlock the bootloader, so it really is an application process."
My ONLY reason is that they don't have my language in their ROM.... If they refuse to accept that I won't buy that phone...
But one question though... My CM 12 in my redmi note 2 isn't that stable, but since the redmi note 3 have a snapdragon chip, will that make is more stable than a Mediatek chip when someone make a CM12 ROM for the redmi note 3???
hmmm

i understand that... but reason is : I bought note 3 and i wanna do whatever i want with that.... isnt it? it was not free for me....
look rm note 3 have mtk chipset and have cm 12.1 for it and have ressurection remix rom
rm note 3 pro have sd chipset and i think no roms for it yet couse bootloader .... its annoying for devs.... again shame... they mean that they are too big for fall .... dear xiaomi u didn't...
The reason the pro has no roms is because no developers has the phone yet and it is the first snapdragon 650 device in the world. There will definitely be good rom support for it but not for some time to come.

Wow I had no idea that it's the first snapdragon 650
Well that explains a lot, I guess I just have to wait to buy the phone until some Roms is released.
Xiaomi locks the bootloader now because many retailers added adware and spyware, it is really just to protect the customers, you can still unlock it after approval.

Plus, according to Xiaomi - they will release kernel sources for the device up to 3 months after the device has been launched in India. That means no stable custom roms until they release the sources.... if they release them at all
But I read that you could bypass the unlock method some where on the internet…I will post the link asap

Error at 50% Unlocking - just like with every other stable ROM, following the exact method from Xiaomi forums.

MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.7.5 adds anti-rollback protection: Do not downgrade your Redmi Note 5 Plus/Pro
Many users that have tried to downgrade their Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones without knowing about this restriction have now ended up with a bricked device.
Xiaomi says that those who have updated devices to MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.7.5 or ROM afterwards, should not try to downgrade the ROM of your device. “Otherwise, your device will be bricked, which may also affect your device stability. If your device has been bricked, please go to the nearest Mi service centre for help,” says the company.
So think what you think about this Anti Rollback system ??
for updates please join

Some people on miui forum said that they was able to downgrade from 8.7.10 global beta to 9.6.2.0 stable and it works.

I think they should have warned users about this, I was really lucky I didn't downgraded, I'm on MIUI 10 Global Beta and today even got an update, MIUI 10 has many bugs and I really did think about downgrading to miui9 but I choose to stay on miui 10 for another 12-13 days and unlock bootloader afterwards.
I'd hoped Xiaomi would offer an instant unlock to those with bricked devices. I would have bricked my phone on purpose for an instant unlock
I think you always can test-point flash even with bricked device
Most of brands do actually the same and inclusive since nougat to MM downgrade it´s not an option for devices running stock roms so that is present from previous versions; Samsung, Huawei, Honor and many more, only with some tricky and unauthorized method this can do it. But for Xiaomi unlocked with a custom recovery and running custom roms this is possible at any time.
I wanted to know does the redmi 5 ( Rosy) has got the anti roll back feature enabled.....
I was going to unlock my bootloader but I got to know that one of my friends device( Redmi 5A) got hard bricked and he had to change his motherboard.....
And out of the topic will the device Rosy get any Oreo custom roms sooner or later?????
Redmi 5 doesn't have Anti-Rollback feature.

Thanks for the reply ......My friend has a redmi 5a but his device got hard bricked because of rolling back to an older version.....
This is the reason I was asking the question.....
I want to get full confirmation before flashing custom roms........
No,Rosy don't have that till now
how it works this? applies for all systems or just Miui? If i flash a custom Rom, but 8.1 o above, something will happen?
im thinking of getting this phone. I loved my p30 pro but the lack of support and no bootloader unlock or root availability sucked. How is xiaomi with this? are they cool with letting you mod the phone with root, custom roms etc?
yes thats no problem an rom support u can get the xiaomi eu rom
wen u have that on u dont need anything else

Because it's far better than anything else.
I'm on xiaomi.eu right now, but looking forward to some AOSP ROMs like Pixel Experience or EvolutionX! Correct me if I'm wrong but now that the global version of the phone is out, I assume we can be expecting these in the coming months? Perhaps directly on Android 11?
Ok, so the phone can be bootloader unlocked and rooted? What about custom ROMs is that possible? I just don't want to spend the money and be stuck on their version of the os in any case I don't like it, just like it happened on emui with the p30 pro

Yes, that's both possible, however we don't know how many devs will buy the phone so there's that... Currently, I own the Mi Mix 2s and custom ROM support is awesome. I hope for something similar with the Mi 10. To unlock the bootloader you need a Xiaomi account, when I got my Mi Mix to years ago you had to apply for unlocking permission with something like "I want to develop stuff" or something, after a few days you would get a text that says permission granted. Afterward you start the mi unlock tool and then you have to wait for something between 3 and 30 days(for most people it was 14 days) until you could finally unlock.

Yeah it used to be like that but now to unlock bootloader you still need a Xiaomi account, but no need to apply for anything. There's a Xiaomi Bootloader Unlock Tool in their website and you can do it through that without needing to apply through their website/ forum. Might still need to wait a week or two after registering the phone to the account tho.
Coming from a P30 Pro, I now own the Mi 10 series & I unlocked both of them.
Waiting time in both cases has been 7 days.
So far I tried Xiaomi.eu ROM, which is based on the chinese ROM.
It's fully translated in several languages & also keeps the good stuff untouched, which you won't find in the official Global ROM.
There are stable builds and developer builds, that are regularly updated.
I also tried MiuiMix, which is based on the Xiaomi.eu ROM and is pre-rooted & tweaked for
more smoothness and better battery life (so they say).
It is either regularly updated.
I also hope for more custom ROMs (I liked Resurrection Remix on my Mate 10 Pro)...
So hello, this is my first Xiaomi device before that I have always used Sony Xperia devices. So I am really confused about some things. I got the Redmi Note 9S 64 GB model. Acording to many web sites and some threads on XDA this model should be "curtana". But what I want to ask is about my "codename". So I am currently on MIUI global 11.0.4 (QJWTRXM) and I have looked up on XDA and many roms require you to have 11.0.7. So if I look up on https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/firmware/curtana/ I only get the QJWMIXM global version. Can I flash QJWMIXM without any problems? My wait time will end tommorow and I will be able to unlock it. If anyone can help me out on this I would be very pleased...
Oh now after I post it I think have found something about it... QJWTRXM seems to be the Turkish version of the global rom. Which is outdated compared to it. So I think I can switch to the global rom since my device is 9S (curtana).

I was wondering if we can change the codename by OrangeFox Recovery
I think the same device is called Curtana for India Note 9 pro and Curtana_global for Note 9s . Any thoughts?
I would love to change my phone to curtana_global to get rid of device codename inconsistencies when switching between global and indian roms.
