Hi, I recently rooted my OnePlus 6T running on Android 10 and there are some root apps I want to run on a second user on this phone, but the root checker apps say that I'm not rooted on this (second) user, even though I am rooted on admin user of this phone (root checker confirms it).
I tried installing the magisk manager in the second user, didn't work.
Then I flashed the magisk.zip again from twrp, didn't work.
Is there any way to grant root permission to this second user?
Any help would be appericiated.
Cheers.
@ppaw
Try
Code:
su adduser <user_name> su

Hi guys! A friend brought me a S4 clon (4.2.2, MTK6589 based) few days ago, to root it. I've used VRoot and all went fine (root works good, even we've deleted some junk apps), but the app to manage the root permissions is a chinese one (check the attachment, please). Anyone knows if it's possible to install another app (like superSU or super user)? :silly:
At this point, I've tried this:
Delete the chinese app, and install superSU or super user. Result: Unable to update the binaries, so no root anymore.
Install superSU, update the binaries and delete the chinese app. Result: the binaries are installed without errors before delete the chinese app, but after that every time I open superSU it says that the binaries aren't installed (and it's unable to install them again).
Install super user, update the binaries and try to delete the chinese app. Result: unable to update the binaries, in some point always throw an error (sometimes trying to copy the binary to its place, sometimes trying to check if it's working...).
Any ideas?
A little bump...
After some try-error tests, I've found a way to do it, if anyone are interested:
Install superSU
Open it, and update the binaries.
Use any root explorer, and delete the old root manager (could be located at /system/app or /data/app)
Reboot
Done
None of my apps have root access and I've installed several SU programs. I can't enable Write access in file explorer ES b/c that requires root access and when I open superSU it says it needs to be updated but neither selecting normal install neither install with CWRP updates SuperSU. What did I do wrong with the rooting process? Anyone else had this problem.
From what I have read CM no longer comes rooted it needs to be rooted with a separate process. I do not know why?
You need to give root access to apps and adb--no need for SU any more. The setting is under "Developer Options".
thanks

I already sold the way old barnes and noble tablet. I'll try that when I root my samsung S2 tablet. I'm waiting for android 6.0 version of CM to be released if it hasn't already.
One thing that I keep reading about android malware, is that it needs to gain root access to do its dirty work.
My android phone is already rooted and I have SuperUser (SU) installed. And whenever an app runs that needs root access (such as titanium backup), SU asks me if I want to grant root to that app.
So, my question is this - can I rest assured that I won't get infected because if for some reason malware makes it into my phone (through one of the many exploits like the MMS/Stagefright thing), I will see it try to run because SU will ask me for permission, and I can simple deny it?
Yes, Lookout security recently discovered a malware that does the exact thing you mentioned.

This question has probably been asked a million times before, but my circumstances are a little different. On my first attempt, I used the "unroot" option on Superuser, and it claimed my device had been cleared of root access after booting back up. However, after realizing my root apps still worked, I downloaded a root checker and confirmed my suspicion that my phone hadn't changed. Afterwards, I followed a Youtube tutorial and deleted various SU files in my system's directory, but partial root access remains. No unroot app works because Superuser can't grant full root access, and SU itself crashes upon booting when I re-download it. I've attempted re-rooting my phone so I had full root access, but that won't work either. Any suggestions?
Hello,
I have android TV box model X96H, android 9, allwinner h603, 4gb ram, when I check root access, it's shown as it rooted, but I can't grant root permissions for user apps such link2sd, there's no option in system settings to do that, every time am trying to install supersu, it's successfully installed, but ask for updating su binary, when am doing that update, it's not booting again, I have to install new firmware, I tried kngroot, it's just keep checking on starting of kngroot, is there any solution?
