I have a T9 4GB/64GB TV BOX (RK3328) TV stick, it got bricked. I searched the internet and tried many methods to recover it, but failed, please help if you know a better solution.
I used RKBatchTool to restore it, and got a blue square, but after I click "restore" button, it failed at "Prepare idb fail"
I also tried RK Android Tool, and Factory Tool my stick is loaded as "Found one MASKROM Device". I played around the tool, but every time it failed at the same reason "Prepare idb fail ".
I have no ideas, anyone please help!

It sounds like a Roku stick and you did something to brick it. Unfortunately you may not be able to recover it as I've not seen any restore method
To fix this box and I have done this to 3 of them already. All of them are the 64GB 4GB ones. Good thing you crashed the onboard rom otherwise it would not start recovery. Get an SD card in 16GB or larger. Look for SD_Firmware_Tool.exe online and the file you want to put on the SDcard is the Android 9.0 PIE is 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z4_1025.img
Once the SD card is created put it in the Android TV box. Then power on the box and the recovery will begin on its own right away. Once its done. It will tell you to remove the SD card which it will reboot itself once its out. Then it will run an Erase mode setting up the user partition which takes a min. Then it will boot. The first boot takes a few mins. As long as you see the colorful splash screen your good just wait.
Get the unit online and use the update tool to grab and install the latest 9.0 pie update. Once your done its recovered.
Now I have found the SDcard I used to recover these devices once its formatted it will not boot while inserted in the android box. I think a boot flag was set and since it can't locate the files it refuses to boot. The cheap work around is use a brand new Sdcard that was not used for recovery process.
I also noticed the Wifi and Ethernet will not work at the same time in 9.0 like it did in 8.1. The remotes works fine and Bluetooth works still. If you want Kodi latest version uninstall the KDplayer that comes with it. I recommend getting rid of the apps you do not use.
I also notice the Playstore does not install apps but if you use a computer or phone to pick your apps and tell it to install to the TV box it will work then or manually install your .APK's also works. Once the programs are installed they will update afterwards.
I have been looking for Android 10 but no luck yet.
I never ever had luck using the rockchip USB to USB cable to PC to work. It will error out no matter what. Forget going that route.
Hello:
I have the same problem and I want to test what you comment
Where can I get the files that you comment, for example the 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z4_1025.img?
Thanks a lot

all you gotta do is have a sdcard with nothing on it. Make it fat32 on the PC. Open the SD card firmware tool. Make sure the top field has your SD card listed.
Click Upgrade firmware option box.
Then load the firmware file by clicking the firmware button.
Then click create.
This will take awhile to write 2GB of data to an SDcard.
Once it's done. Put it on the TV box with the power off. Plug the HDMI cable in. Insert the SDcard in the TF slot.
Then power on the tv box and it will start programming process right away. Leave it be since it takes awhile to do its thing. It will tell you to remove the SD card when done. Once the SD card is removed the box will reboot on its own. You will see the message erasing which takes about 2 minutes. Then it will boot with the T9 logo screen. The first boot takes about 4 minutes to finally start up.
Once you get it online use the updater tool on the menu option. It will update the box. Keep the Sd card just incase it does brick itself. It happened once on one of my boxes. Just pop in the recovery SD card to start over again if it happens to you.
Note for some reason the SD card you use for recovery will not allow the tv box to boot if decide to use it for storage. I believe it sets a boot flag in the SD card firmware and fails when the files are gone. Not sure how to clear it. Hey they are dirt cheap anyways for a new one.
Oh and do not reinsert this sdcard after you set it up. A power cycle will start the recovery process again.
Thank you very much for your help. I try it and tell you how it went

Hi, thank you for this detailed reply.
I am having the same problem with T9 (RK 3318) TV box 64GB 4GB bricked with wrong firmware when I tried to upgrade from Android 8.1 to 9.0.
There is nothing on it whenever I powered up this TV box.
Can I use the same method above to recover the bootup?
All of us would appreciate your advise.
Thank you.

Yes it works. I was able to update all three of the boxes I own to the 9.0 Version. The playstore on the 9.0 sucks. Better off installing and maintaining your updates with pureAPK instead of playstore. Remember the SD card will not be useable on the T9 boxes after carrying out the update for additional storage. It can always be used to restore the boxes if something happens. I was able to use the SD card in other devices.

I m trying to create the SD Card with img file but failed with error message (attached picture).
My TV box is made of RK3318, not RK 3328 chipset. I m trying out your method..
Do I need to short any pin to unbrick the Circuit board?
I appreciate your advice, please. Thank you.
Is that a 2Tb card? Use a 32GB one or smaller as long its 8GB to 32GB in size. There was no pin shorting needed. Just create the SDcard and put it on the TV box port and power on tv box.

Make sure windows is not blocking the file by right clicking on the properties of it and click unblock and apply. Also I would run the SD creation tool with admin rights.

Hi. thks for your kind guidance.
I managed to create Bootrom Img disk using SD Card. However, my T9 TV box cannot be powered up. I suspect that the IC chip was damaged. This TV box was bricked when the vendor supplied me the wrong Img file. I realised it after I opened up the TV box cover.
Time to dump off the TV box.
Good afternoon,
I am looking for a stock version for the T9 TV Box 32GB/4GB RK3318. some months ago, I bought a TUREWELL T9, however it is not allowing to run Disney+ anymore and I am not able to upgrade the device. Hence I was hoping that the above solution would work with a stock version of Andoid.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What I lost:
The first TKD-sparringsmatches (ever) of the 7yo son of a friend of mine were succesfully filmed with my SGT 10.1v. The boy performed phenomenally: Despite being a debutant, he won 3 matches in a row and won the golden cup, abroad!
How It happened:
At home, I eagerly connected the SGT with the USB-cable to a Windows XP PC, selected the recorded media files in the DCIM/camera folder and choosed "MOVE". The transfer started, with placing the files in the "My Documents" folder on the PC. Because that wasn't my preferred destination, I canceled the transfer...
Then the disaster occured: The files disappeared !!! They no longer existed on the Tab.
Futile rescue:
I immediately started an obsessive search in Google, determined to find a solution to recover these lost files. In the meanwhile, I made sure to put nothing new in the tab's internal 16GB memory.
Now:
That happened a week ago, and I'm devastated. The only way, as far as I know now, to make a beginning in recovering the files would be to ROOT the device and install special software e.g. Hexamob, but that hasn't even been developed for Android Honeycomb.
Help:
Therefore, I can only hope to get an answer here, to help me in my moment of total desolation...
isent it possible to use a recovery tool on your pc and connect the tab with the usb cable and select the drive that way?

That would work if the internal memory would be recognized as an SD-card. But none of the appropriate 'undelete' programs that run on windows find the external flash drive

I've successfully used software to recover missing data from a damaged sdcard. I don't remember the name of it as I'm at work and the software is on my home computer, but once I get home tonight I'll be sure to look and let you know.
EDIT: Found it! It's called PhotoRec: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec I was able to use it and it recognized my sdcard when my computer wouldn't. Hope it works for you, good luck.

Thanks varelawarfare but PhotoRec is just another example of software that rus under Windows and therefore doesn't recognize the internal memory of het SGT, it doesn't find the drive.
So it looks like the only way to recover the mediafiles would be an application that runs on the SGT 10.1v, inside or outside Android...
Were you ever able to find a solution?
I just did the same thing. Accidentally dragged my DCIM folder to another folder when in Windows, and it seemed to drop all of the photos/videos. I verified this by running an adb shell after.
The only 'recovery' apps don't seem to work on Honeycomb still, and none of the Windows or Linux file recovery programs will see the filesystem.
Just looking for ideas to get them back if possible at all.
Stock Honeycomb 3.1 on rooted 10.1
I was having similar issue last time, you may follow the step by step guide that helped me last time
recover lost files from internal memory
hope this helps.
Hello all,
I have bought Media pad x1 501-u, unfortunately I updated it to Kitkat from there website, then my mobile turned into chinese and no google firmwork so I cant even sync my gmail contacts using gmail, I cant update my programs using playstore. and what is worse is that there is no arabic!! its my native language and I need help! PS: my mobile is not rooted.
what is the best solution??
501U is natively a chinese device = was never meant to be sold outside China.
Standard procedure with Huawei:
Download the ROM (Either from Huawei or EMUI), unzip and copy the dload folder onto the root directory of an SD Card of at least 2GB formatted in FAT32.
Power off the X1, insert card, power on also holding volume up (if not successful hold volume up&down). You know you did it right when mister droid shows up.
Screen may blank for long periods!!
When it reboots after showing update success, remove the SD card, or it will do it again.
To get google back you will have to download several apps from the Huawei store which is available on tge homescreen. Please refer to the thread "not synching Google contacts".

Hi,
Apart from the update.app file, you also have to download the attached file (only 9xx bytes) in the below post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56436713&postcount=6
extract it to your root microsd card, then put the "update.app" file in the dload folder; reboot your x1 or make local update (have to manually choose the file from external sd card). After successfully upgrading, don't forget to remove your microsd card and plug to your PC to delete the update files.
Once you successfully upgrade it to this kitkat, you will not have any goggle app/framework. You have to go to Huawei App Center. search for and download Google Play and Google Play service. Then, in the same Huawei App Center, search by typing "google", you will see a large google banner on the top of the search result, tap it and you'll see a lot of google stuff. At least you have to download google sync (look at calendar icon) and another google sync (look at contact icon). Once downloaded, you will be able to sync your google contact and calendar back. You can then download other google apps from Google Playstore.

This tread is referring to a S7-721u version in Malaysia with Gr8 bundled pre-installed.
Unfortunately, I lost my Gr8 activation code and unable to login to the device anymore after a factory reset. After some research, I have managed to flash it with the original firmware. Yes, I lost me Gr8 code, so I don't have the access to the daily subscription anymore, but I got my Huawei Mediapad back without unwanted pre-installed apps.
I am sharing this guideline so that it would be easier for people who faced the same issue like me. For people already got your Huawei Mediapad, keep your Gr8 code safe and remember where you keep it.
Prepare an microSD card with any storage size larger than 1GB.
Format microSD card.
Download Huawei official release firmware (S7-721u, Android4.3, C232B008, General).
Unzip downloaded firmware.
Delete file “au_temp.cfg” in dload folder.
Copy dload folder with UPDATA.APP in it.
Paste dload folder in your microSD card.
Power Off Huawei Mediapad. Insert microSD card.
Press Power + volume up + volume down keys together. The phone automatically enters the upgrade mode, and then begin the upgrade. Release the keys.
Once the progress bar reaches 100%, the phone will automatically restart. DONE!

How important is it to delete that file. Is that the reason why when i install the update it says "update.app is a invalid package"? Thanks mate.
Hi. I just reinstall the software, but how do I get back my e papers subscriptions?
Is there any costum rom, and i have this tablet locked on one network ,is there a solution to run other network.thanks in advance.
I did all as you said, but now my tablet is completely dead.
Thanks it worked.
Provide the download link for the firmware please?
Thx Sunnysardine, it works for me.
Just to add a bit for my experience.
The process 1 - 8 MUST be followed exactly. I tried putting the update.app w/o the load folder, it did not work
For process 10, it takes a bit of time. the Huawei logo showed up for quite long before it power up to 1st screen. after that, all well. So got to be patient a little bit
Thanks man
I followed ur instructions exactly and it works, nice
If not for this, I would have thrown away my mediapad, it totally not login-able/ unusable without Gr8 code
Thanks again!
it is work for me.. thanks for sharing
Hi there, I found a way to remove GR8 app without installing the update. I found out that due to the device cannot detect the update in my sd card.
1) turn on the Huawei media pad s7-721u, unlock the screen
2) plug in to computer/laptop windows 7,8 or windows 10
3) on the Huawei media pad screen, it will pop up usb setting, select hiSuite usb type option
4) at the andoid setting, please go to about table setting, then enable developer mode by taping 7 times at Build number
5) still at android setting, go to security, make sure your android Screen lock setting is set under Huawei unlock, the go to shortcut setting, need to set to google app and android setting app.
6) install HiSuite to your computer - this is the Huawei official computer device managed software tool
7) install iRoot software to your computer. careful with this installation, it full of bloatware, but don't worry it don't have a virus.
8) run the iRoot and it will root your device. It will restart your Huawei pad multiple times.
9) after it root complete, unlock your device then go to google play ( as your android unlock setting option have the google play as describe in step 5)
10) install System app remover from google play
11) open the app, go to inside the app setting, remove setting Hide core system app
12) go to the main menu of the app remover, under manager, select system app, now you can find gr8 gallery app. Removed that app then restart the device.
13) you will have multiple error in android, just reboot and the error gone. DONE
This is where you can download the firmware

How can I fix the tablet after being flashed with wrong firmware?
It doesn't turn on and in QPST or QFIL it was in download mode.
I have correct firmware and its dump.
I've somehow lost all the data on my sdcard.
Device is an LG G2 D802, running stock lollipop 5.0.2
I had my phone hooked to pc and all was OK.
Then I tried accessing a folder (after being ble to) and an error popped up on windows, I can't remember what, something along the lines of "the device cannot be accesses".
I then disconnected the USB...without first clicking safely remove...so, yes, it probably is my own fault.
Please don't point this out!
How can I retreive my data. I'm more concerned about pictures and videos.
I've tried a few apps, but aren't having much success.
A lot of files don't display correctly
Any help is appreciated
Anyone got any advice?

I have a great working solution for you.
I know a computer software that can extract your images, videos and everything in its original form.
It works on windows.
You have to connect your SD card with the help of card reader.

Hi thanks.
But as my device doesn't physically have an sdcard, its a virtual card as far as in aware.
And the back of the phone doesn't come off.
When I connect to PC the phone shows as a device, not a drive

How to unbrick an Amlogic S912 H96 Pro TV stick dongle mini PC by shorting pins and flashing Android 7.1.2 + TWRP + Magisk
As this is my first post, I am unable to include links or link pictures.
If you want the full how-to with links and pictures, please google:
"[SOLVED] Amlogic S912 H96 Pro TV stick dongle mini PC bricked"
The how-to is on the FreakTab forums.
This how-to has been translated from instructions found on this Russian 4pda.ru forum post.
Most of the links are from a Russian cloud storage site. If they don't work anymore, you can find what is needed with a simple Google search.
I am basically organizing the relevant information and links so that it's available in English and easier to understand.
:::::: Disclaimer ::::::
As flashing and shorting this or any device may result in permanent damage to the device, you must proceed with caution and under your own responsibility.
I will not be held responsible in any way if damage of any sort is caused.
I would recommend double checking every step before execution.
Now with that out of the way, let's get to it!
Things you will need:
- A Bricked Amlogic S912 H96 Pro TV stick dongle mini PC
- A short USB A to USB A cable. You can cut old phone charger cables and connect the same colored wires but keep it short. I'd sat 20cm in total. Shorter is better.
- Micro SD card bigger than 2GB but smaller than 32GB (device doesn't support more than that).
- Small flat-head screwdriver to pry open the dongle and short the pin connections.
- Computer
Links to additional software and files that are needed will be provided in the instructions.
The Russian cloud storage site is in Russian on PC browser. Use Google Translate to translate the page.
In Chrome browser you should automatically have the option to translate the page on the fly.
Opening the dongle:
We'll start with opening the dongle.
Use the small flat-head screwdriver to pry open the dongle casing.
It's not sealed very tight and should be easy to open.
If you do it gently, nothing should break and you will be able to close it back just like new.
Once you've opened the the dongle, you will need to remove the black heat sync in order to get to the connections that need to be shorted.
The heat sync is on there with some thermal tape and can be gently lifted. The tape should stay fully intact. Don't get the tape dirty because you'll be sticking it back on.
In the following pictures you can see the two pin solder connections that need to be shorted. They're the left two pins out of four, marked by a red circle.
Shorting and getting the device detected:
OK, now that we know where to short we can install the Burning Tool software and hopefully get the device detected on the computer.
Download the USB_Burning_Tool v2.0.8 - If the link no longer works you can find this tool with a simple Google search.
Unzip and open the folder.
Make sure you have the device driver installed which can be found in the WorldCup_Device folder. Install by running InstallDriver.exe.
After the driver has installed. go back to the main folder. Right click on USB_Burning_Tool.exe and "Run as administrator".
Once open, change the language to English like so:
Now lets connect the dongle to the PC with our USB cable via the OTG port.
If you're in the state that I was in, the dongle will most likely not be detected.
This is where we short the pins.
Take your small flat-head screwdriver and short the two left pin connections by a touch of the screwdriver on both pins at the same time.
If the board isn't totally fried you should see that it's detected in the Burning Tool.
This should work regardless of Driver Signature Verification being enabled or not.
Flashing the rom:
At this point you should download the specific rom file aml_7.1_s912_q9377-S912_XGO_LP_mac-20171206.img that can be found here.
Download the zip and extract the .img file.
Import the .img file to the Burning Tool:
It will take a few moments for the tool to verify the file.
Once verified, un-check both "Erase flash" and "Erase bootloader" on the right hand side.
Leave the rest as is.
Click start and wait for the file to be loaded to the dongle 100%.
This will take around five minutes.
Once you see 100%:Burning successfully in the tool you can rest assure that the dongle is working!
You can now click on Stop and disconnect the dongle.
Close is up nicely. You will not need to open it again (crossing fingers).
Last steps to make it perfect:
Connect the dongle to a TV and let it boot.
The first boot will take a few minutes.
Don't be too excited yet! Wifi and Bluetooth are probably not working.
We need to restart the device into recovery mode and do a backup with TWRP just so a backup folder will be created.
TWRP should already be flashed on the device. If not, you can download it from here.
Shut down the device and insert the MicroSD card.
Boot into recovery by pressing and holding the reset button with a paperclip until you see the recovery.
This actually blew my mind because I was sure that this device does not have a reset button but apparently it does!
You will see a very small hole on the back:
Once in TWRP, select Backup, select storage as SD card and perform the backup.
After the backup has completed, unplug the device and remove the MicroSD card.
Plug the card into the computer.
Now we are going to basically copy backup files over the existing files in the backup folder that was created just now.
These files can be found here.
Download and extract the folder.
Drill down to the deepest folder and copy the files to the deepest folder on the MicroSD card.
Insert the MicroSD card back into the device and boot to recovery again.
This time select restore, select SD as storage and restore.
After the restore is done, reboot the device and wait for android to boot up.
Good job! You'r basically done!
The only thing that's left is to change the language to English.
In the settings you'll see a small globe icon, select it and find English.
DONE!
You have now fully unbricked your device and are now running Android 7.1.2 with TWRP recovery.
If you would like to root with Magisk it can be found here alongside Magisk Manager APK.
Just flash in TWRP and install the APK in android.
This is my first time actually tinkering with a TV box so I'll try to help as much as I can if anyone has a question.
Hi
the device disconnecting everytime at 2%, pls help
