try plugging it into a computer and see if it detects anything.
if it does, try flash a firmware.
if it doesn't, leave it there for a bit to see if it does turn on.

i installed a custom rom, and it started losing power gradually even when it is connect to the computer. next day
it was like the condition rite now. you can see the red light, but the phone cannot boot, neither enter fastboot.
Try this: Not sure if it will work...
1) Just connect it to usb cable to pc... Leave it for few hrs..
2) Then open Sony PC Companion and try repair...
I Accidentaly bricked my gf acro s . Ended in bootloop and i did this.. It Worked.

Thanks,
I had a nasty problem, not charging with a new rom and not being able to fastboot etc, only a few seconds in recovery.
i searched my whole house for the acro-s dock, and plugged it in, then also plugged the usb on the phone to a pc usb port, don't know if that added some power, but this gave it enough power to instantly boot & charging... So now I can install a decent rom again.

[Q] Unable to boot the phone

Hello all,
My GS3 is not able to boot up. No matter if I press only the power button or press DOWN+HOME+POWER, the screen just keep black. Nothing responses.
I have found many threads about bricked or SDS etc, there's no any help.
Do you guys have any suggestions? Becacuse I am abroad recently and not easy to send it to the service center in UK.
nothing else to do
Try another battery, leaving it plugged into the charger for an hour.
Does the red light or charging screen appear when you attach to the charger?
If download mode doesn't work and the above also fails then it's dead and only service can help you.

Thanks for your info.
I tried all above methods, but all failed. I hope that the phone is still in warranty. I bid it on eBay a year ago and have no idea about how long the previous owner had used it.

Phone Bricked, maybe? <RED notification light>

So this is my story. I compiled aosp and flashed my new rom, clicked reboot and boom. Nothing works.
When I use a charger / usb red light notification flashes. Also, sony pc companion sais (null) connected.
It won't turn on in fastboot, tried but I have no blue light notification.
The phone vibrates when I press power. Could this be because of a bad kernel ?
I will let my phone charge for a while, to eliminate potential causes.
Thanks .
Red LED usually signifies a soft brick.

I don't know anything about the red LED. Googled a bit and many told that the phone is unrecoverable.
I let it charge over night, but it's not responding anymore. No vibration, no led no nothing.

It's recoverable, you just need some patience (happened to me once). Check the methods in the link above.

How can I follow those instructions if the phone won't charge ? Should I give it another day plugged in the wall charger ?
The main thing I want to do is go in fastboot and flash another kernel, as I know it is the main problem.
But the phone doesn't charge. No response whatsoever. I had it charging for 8 hours or so, still nothing.
If anyone has a magnetic charger, can you tell me which one is the ground and which one is the + ?
It doesn't matter if you're charging via magnetic cable or normal USB cable.
As described in the thread that I linked you to, a red LED means that the phone is charging in 'low battery level charge mode'. Read post 2 of the thread, with the header "Now after the phone has reset and you have the red led". You just need to charge your phone longer.

Hello guys, I just found my old Elephone and wanted to revive it for fun.

The battery is probably fully discharged, connect to a pc, so it gets a lower voltage current which might allow to charge it..

Disconnect the battery and plug your device in to a PC or laptop and check it with 2-3 different working data cables, if you get a Mi logo then it means the batter was/is dead. if it still doesn't work and you don't get anything on the screen then try to flash a MIUI Stock firmware and see what it says. i had the same problem apparently but in my case the EmmC died on my mobo so i replaced it and it's been working fine for 4 moths now.
Not seen that mentioned before willing to give it a try... Any links on how to do it... Google didn't bring anything back only charging boards? Sorry that was in reply to the zener diode comment.
Tried unplugging battery multiple pcs and cables no life from screen at all..
Thanks found the diode removed it and now I have flashing red led!

btw just charge it in a wall adapter to get your battery enough power to flash roms..
