Hung on Verizon Screen - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I have a v30 Verizon with VS996 30-C ROM. It was running fine, and then I added the line net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to the end of build.prop.
I did this by copying build prop to my pc, editing it, copying it back to the system folder as newbuild.prop. I then renamed the original build.prop to oldbuild.prop and renamed the newbuild.prop to build.prop.
I rebooted the phone. It boots as far as the Verizon screen and just hangs there. I held the power button for over a minute, but it refused to turn off so I can't reboot to recovery to replace the new build prop with the original.
Any help would be appreciated
Edit. I was able to boot into TWRP, but when I try to access the root/system folder to replace build.prop, the root folder is blank. I tried mounting system, but root folder still show blank. What am I doing wrong?

SystemUI.apk fix

Alright, I was trying to replace the SystemUI.apk with the new menu buttons. I renamed the old one to Systemui.apk.bak and after I did that ICS started acting up again and restarted by itself. When it turned back on, no menu bar, and the system won't let me rename it to the original or move the new one. I've tried everything I could think of, such as using adb through my pc and downloading multiple file explorer apps. Nothing works. Any help would be great cause I can't back out of an app without restarting the system.
Are you mounting the drive in R/O mode? Must be Read/Write to make changes.
Wow, I guess I should have thought of that. I got it working now. Thanks alot.

stuck at bootanimation after trying to get rid of it (samsung s5690)

hi there,
i've tried to get rid of the bootanimation as derscribed in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923545
there it is described as this:
if you want that your phone boots faster, type it into your build.prop file: debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
i did as described by opening the build.prop file with rootexplorer and then i've edited in the above line with the text editor. i've put the line at the end of the text with a free line between the text, that was already there (just to remember where the edit has been made by me). also i've backed up the original build.prop file.
BUT, when i've rebooted my phone it took longer than before and then got stuck in the bootanimation, it keeps repeating itself until i take out the batterie...
i've tried wiping the cache and have done a factory reset/ wipe all user data, but with no positive effect....:crying:
please give me a hint wha t else i could try to get the device running again.....
thanks

[Solved] application changed system file now I cant boot

Hi guys, I downloaded "boot animation root" from playstore. In the options of that, there is a setting to disable boot animation, so I did that and rebooted, but now all I see is my phone logo and does not go any further. I thought maybe it just added the line:
"debug.sf.nobootanimation=1" to build prop, so I booted into recovery and had a look at the file, but it hasn't added that line. so I did add that line and tried it but same result, so removed the line, ensured build.prop was chmod to 0644 and rebooted but still cant get it to boot. and yes I know I should have created a backup first but I didn't!
Where else could I look for this offending code that has been added somewhere?
figured it out, the application renamed
/system/bin/bootanimation
to
/system/bin/bootanimation.bak
renamed it and now I can boot again

[ATTENTION] Can't Modify Build.prop on CM7-based Rom

Good day!
Hi!
I had my Sony Ericson W8 E16i (Android 2.1 Update-1) obtained from an old box...
I decided to upgrade it to Android 2.3.7 via custom rom (thru the help of GingerDX)...
Everything's fine.
Now, I can't edit the "build.prop"...
I want to edit the phone model from "X8" to "W8"...
And also, to edit and delete some lines...
But it always reverts back to the original build.prop of that custom rom every after reboot...
Here's the actions I've already done:
1. Copy build.prop on sdcard. Edit it the way i wanted. Move it to root directory then fix the permission. Then move to /system to replace the existing build.prop. After reboot, it reverts.
2. I created a flashable zip of the editted build.prop, after system boot, nothing has changed.
3. I edit the build.prop directly to /system directory then save it. (It creates .bak file for its backup after I save.) After reboot, it reverts back again to the original build.prop of the custom rom.
Additional info.:
The "GingerDX v031b" is a CM7-based rom.
Any other info should I be provided?
Please help.

[FAST]build.prop problem, phone won't boot.

Greetings. Yesterday i edited the build.prop, I am a Hearthstone player and I wanted to change my phone's fingerprint in order to make it look like it's a Galaxy S6 to get a free card back. I messed up something and the phone won't boot now, it shows the carrier logo for 4 srconds and then the screen goes "backlight" black. I can still enter recovery (TWRP 3.03), I made a backup before editing the build.prop and after this I replaced every ALLVIEW and P7_PRO (that's my phone) into SAMSUNG and SM-G920F. I got the card, and i replaced the build.prop with the backup one. Here are two possibilities:
1. I didn't sort out the permissions on build.prop ( i know that replacing a file resets it's permissions).
2.After i pasted thr backup one i edited it again because i had an modified line and I wanted to go full stock, and I think by mistake i pressed the enter button and created a blank line.
I heard about pushing the build.prop with ABD, I know that i can even use TWRP for this, but I don't wanna get things any messier than this.
Any help would be very appreciated. I there arr any grammatical problems forgive me, this is my mother's phone and I'm not used to the keyboard.
