I have an S3 GT-i9300 running the standard UK 4.3 ROM (PDA: I9300XXUGMK6, CSC: I9300OXXGML1, MODEM: I9300XXUGMK6). My phone was running slowly so I decided to clear the cache in “android mode” and rebooted to find Android on its back with “no command.”
Neither clearing the cache nor a factory reset has gotten Android back on its feet, though the phone now responds well. So, I’m guessing that something deeper is not right and plan to flash the UK 4.3 firmware again (the phone originally came from Thailand) using ODIN 3.07.
Is this likely to solve the issue? Any ideas on what might be wrong?
I read in this forum that android has a kernel (like the windows HAL?) and the OS files. I’m guess that something in one or both of these is corrupted. Does the PDA file in the tar contain the kernel along with the OS? There is talk of “kernels” here and I would expect just the one from Samsung..??
Once I get the droid back on its feet, I was thinking of upgrading to a custom lollipop (JustArchi v5.1.1 b19 seems to be the most recent) but I don’t understand the discussion about the change in the file system post 4.4?? Can I go to 4.3 to 5.1.1 doing:
Flash stock 4.3 (no root required)
Flash Root (CF-Auto-Root)
Flash Recovery (clockwork-6.0.4.6)
Copy custom 5.1.1 (JustArchi cm-12.1-20151006-UNOFFICIAL-i9300) to SD and boot to clockwork
Copy Google Apps 5.1.1 pacjage to SD and install
Thank you
you are correct .but in cwm recovery wipe data, cache & dalvik cache then flash JustArchi cm-12.1.
hi,
i want to "factory reset" my Xperia Z3c but want to keep using the current non-stock ROM (slimm), what should i do?
should i flash the whole ROM (using flashtool or recovery mode?),
or just flash the same version of OTA package in recovery? (i can't find recovery in 6.0.1, i'm quite new to 6.0.1)
Hello
I have a problem with my Tablet Z LTE (pollux) recovery. If i flash for instance TWRP 3.0.2.0. (or any other version for that matter (including dualrecovery)) then i can't boot into the rom i installed (no matter what version).
I only got the TWRP recovery and can only boot into recovery when i flash it. Then i can install whatever rom (in this case RR 6) and the rom works fine.
Now the problem is that i can't get back to the TWRP recovery but only the recovery i have added in this thread.
Things i have tried:
Xperia Companion flash and reset with newest firmware
EMMA flash and reset with newest firmware
Flashtool 4.3 rom
Both versions of RR
Dualrecovery
All versions of TWRP i can find
I have cleared every cache, data, whatever else multiple times.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated!
You need to flash recovery to FOTApartition for it to become permanent.
