I was updating my bootloader using the pnewbootloader.exe app found on the xda developers FTP this morning and something weird happened.
When the app was done it wrote 000000x000000 at the end and that was it. After updating my bootloader I restarted my phone, but it wouldn't start. It just froze at a black screen. Nothing.... I doubt if it's even on. Tried charging it and then turning it on but no responce. Even the Led is dead. I tried all sorts of methods to bring back to life but all has failed. It won't even charge for god's sake. I noticed that when i remove the battery and charge it without the battery, the led would turn red. Otherwise the device is completely unresponsive.
I desperatly need help hear you guys. This is a call for all the Pocket PC geniuses out there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you have only two options..
GO TO THE NEAREST SERVICE CENTER and let them fix it for you
or
Do this (the instruction is for wallaby)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WallabyJTAG
if you get the result : 000000000:00000000 .. you upgrade your device correctly.. but why it kills your device .. i really dont know ..
the correct bootloader for HIMALAYA are boot_1.03.nb0,boot_1.01.nb0 and bootloader_1.06.nb0 ..the other bootloader in FTP the 515.nb0, 517.nb0 is for WALLABY .. bootloader_for_wm5.0 is not a bootloader but an IPL thats why i added in the name and warned not to use it.
anyway i already gives my warning about Downgrading/Upgrading a bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=124909#124909
and was about to post HOW to do it .. but i change my mind since i also kill my Device due to some research and experimenting using an older than 1.01 bootloader

where can I find a service center here in manila?
tnx a lot
Thanks for your tip but ......
Well from what it seems I must have fried my device.... Now my question would be, how the hell are they gonna fix it ? And how much will it cost ?
If it's a matter of flashing a new bootloader then it shouldn't cost too much, but if they plan to replace a rom chip then I would suspect high repair charges.
If any body has any idea how much it might cost to have this problem fixed please don't hesitate to mention it cause it will surely make a difference.
If it's gonna cost me alot then I would rather buy a used xdaII and use it as spare parts for my original xdaII. Probably change the whole PCB and have it replaced with the used xdaII's PCB

if it is under warranty .. just dont tell them about flashing your bootloader .. they will fix it with no cost .. but if already out-of-warranty .. then i dont know how much really it cost for them to repair it ..
but there is always one fact in service center .. no matter how big or small they will do to your device .. it will take long before you can get your device back ..

I got one question here .....
First of all allow me to extend my thanks to Toenailed for his help on this. Now for my question. I don't get ..... How come, after all the software and hardware knowledge we've got here in this forum, we still can't fix corrupted bootloaders ? Can it be true that service centers have special hardware equipment designed to flash corrupted bootloaders ?
I live in U.A.E, Dubai .... and to be honest, I'm pretty sure that the service center is gonna tell me that the PCB needs complete replacement. Our service centers prefer to replace rather than to fix. I bet if I tell them about the bootloader issue they won't have a clue and insist on replacing the main PCB.
I seriously don't know what to do. I'M STUCK !!!!
is there a way that bootloader can be done without the need of the service centers?can you teach us?
Ok you guys this is ****'n serious **** ....
I sent my phone to the service center this afternoon, and guess what .... they couldn't understand what happened and have sugested to have the PCB changed. Changing a PCB would cost 1,400.00 DHS This is sooooooooooo ****'n expensive. A used pocket pc would cost 1200.00 DHS. I got so pissed off at this. Our service centers prefer to replace than to repair.
Now, it's been 18 hours without my pda and it's been a living hell so far. I'm so ****'n desperate right now that I could actually kiss the guy that comes up with a solution.
This is a call to all pocket pc experts including ( Buzz Lightyear, Toenailed, and Mamaich ) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE you guys ... This is really heart breaking. I'm currently trying some reviving methods but so far I haven't been lucky with anything. I really hope you come up with a solution u guys !!!
There's only one way to fix the Bootloader is by using the Jtag method to the PCB which is not described or anyone went into this experimentation especially on the HIMALAYA's Board or later ones..
I'm sorry to disappoint you my friend but pray if Toenaild will go further more and study it  and making it easy to happen...
I'm really stuck here .....`
Buzz Lightyear & ToeNailed
For God's sake please come up with a simplified version of the steps needed to repair a corrupted bootloader. I'm sooooooooooooo ****'n desperate now. Our local market doesn't even have spare parts or pcbs.

i finally got my device back ..
i didnt pay even a centavos since it is still under warranty .. they replace the motherboard
i already ask them how much it will cost if i will pay the board and they said it should be around 1,950 to 2,950 Philippine Pesos (35.45USD to 54USD)

brightpoint doesn't repair xda anymore as per their customer representative. It took me 2 hours to got to their service center and spend time waiting for my turn just to tell me that they no longer repair/reprogram xda. What a waste of time and effort. Can you please advise me where to get this services, tnx.
hi i had some overheating problems with my htc hd 2 for the past month. mobile wouldn't start up if overheated or close during a phone call and then refuse to start up again. i was dumb enough to take it back to the service with a broken bootloader which ended up with them refusing to swap the board of the mobile for me with the warranty and asking 312 euro from me to change it instead.
at this point i'm looking for a place i could buy a new board and swap it myself or any other way i could fix it. flashing it again will not change anything i've done that several times and restoring the bootloader and taking it back to service won't work either cause now they've put the info in the online service system that i have illegal software in the mobile and the company wont touch my motherboard (correct me if it's not called motherboard in mobiles but i don't know the exact term for it).
sure it's my fault i was stupid enough to forget about the warranty issue with the non official software but now that it's done and i can't get it fixed for free i'm looking for a way to get it fixed as cheap as possible.
thanks for you time
may be there one application that you installed that cause the cpu to work continuously which result in overheating
anyone knows a site that sells cheap boards for hd 2 ?
before buying a new mainboard .. try to flash your Radio
hi,
hope u found solution for ur problem
actually i have the same problem with my htc hd2 and i can't send it for warranty
i want to know what u did with urs
thanks,
Sorry but what has this got to do with WM6.5? Shouldn't this be in the General section as its not related o a specific OS in any way, just the hardware.
Posting in behalf of my friend .
The Screen is auto-clicking itself and when i re-flash stock firmware the problem still goes on .
The Sony Authorized Service Center , says that it will be repaired but he gave his phone 3 times there they are unable to repair.
Please Help him.
Firmware reflash didn't help.
Sony service center didn't help.. or didn't want to be bother with..
How exactly can we help you/him?
Depending on laws in your country, demand new device, since this one was 3 times on repair.

which harrdware causes this problem touch screen digitizer or main board.
if changing digitizer can fix i will buy a new digitizer.
thats why i am asking
hello, i have a problem with my xperia u, i cant text properly with it, some times the letter cant be pressed(im using the 3x4 keyboard not the qwerty, but even qwerty keyboard cant be pressed the letter sometimes). my girlfriend experienced it on her xperia u too 2months ago, but its under waranty that time so the service center did repair it successfully. but now my phone's waranty is already expired, we took it too service center too, but they did not succeed on repairing it, they said the touch screen must be replace. i dont want to think this way but i dont believe it because my girlfriend's phone has been repaired with a very similar problem, now i think that they said that to me so they can get more money if i will agree to them to replace the touch screen. does anyone know how to fix this? its different on other not responsive screen problem, i check the service test on touch screen and there is no broken line, its just hard to press sometimes on texting but there is no problem making a line. factory reset and repairing via PCC and SUS is not solving the problem(both on mine and on my girlfriend's phone when she is experiencing the problem) thank you very much in advance to everyone.
If it's a hardware problem no one here can help you fix it.
Lots of touchscreen problems woth U and Sola, I would think Sony should fix them free of charge.

actually i dont think that it is a hardware problem, because like what i've said, my girlfriend's phone experienced the exact problem that im encountering right now, and they fixed it with i dont know what they did but they didnt replace anything, meaning its only a software defect. if i was remembering it right, they are talking about software calibrate or something like that but im not so sure about it. maybe they dont want to fix it with free charge now thats why the saying that it is a hardware problem for me to pay. i really believe someon could help me here, i would be very thankful and im thanking now in advance.

when i encounter the problem, my firmware is ics 6.1.1.b.1.54. but after taking to the service center it became gb 6.0.b.3.184 but the problem is still there. and also when my girlfriend experience it on her phone, her firmware was ics 6.1.1.b.1.10, i hope the infos would help to analyse the problem. thanks in advance again.
want to bump.
Dear users,
My Xperia Z ultra got a cracked screen with a dead touchscreen as result, it happened during a phone call, no impact whatsoever except it was touching my ear LOL. after reading many topics i went to Vodafone and created a RMA and asked the employee to include the following information in the ticket:
1. Screen is cracked from the inside hence not feeling the crack
2. the device has no impact damage (the thing doesn't have one scratch)
3. water indicator hasn't changed
4. sony recognises the issue and will fix it, it is a known issue.
after one week Dynafix checked it and approved the repair and sent it to Teleplan to have it fixed (dynafix does the diagnose and teleplan fixes it)
so if you have your info good and complete you will get it fixed (at least in NL, it's very important to have the mentioned information in your ticket or the dumb bastard at dynafix will deny repair).
Yup. Sony is aware that some Z devices crack without warning. Nice to see that they fixed it for free
That's crazy. I Dropped mine from 3 ft in the air onto a cement floor, hit right on the corner and landed face down. Not even a scratch. Lol. I about pissed myself tho because I just got Mine back after I hard bricked it.
Sent from my Xperia Z Ultra using Tapatalk
Yep, I dropped mine on the corner as well and was anticipating a screen with spider webbing. Turned it over and didn't have a scratch on it. Just the darn dent where it hit the corner and roughed up the top plastic.
I called up Sony and spoke with someone in the Sony Care Plus department and they sent me a Brand New one in exchange. Glad I paid the extra money for the Sony Accidental Damage and Handling, when I purchased my phone from Sony.

Yes i knew that, but unfortunately you will see that some of these external company's will deny repair anyway, and in those topics you can see that things can get ugly when a user tries to get his right.
So with that in mind i asked the employee to note down ALL the info i told him, if i didn't maybe my repair was denied @dynafix perhaps.

Sony in the Netherlands and Belgium have great service as far as I experienced I'm from Belgium but live close to the border so sometimes buy phones in NL since it can be cheaper
I've had the sudden death issue on my Xperia Z, even after 3 weeks they immediately gave me a new one instead of sending it for repair (might have something to do with me being a developer and telling that).
With Xperia S I also had a hardware issue and it was sent and the phone returned perfectly again after just 3 weeks
I heard people having awful sony service experiences, but mostly it's not in Western Europe I think we just are lucky people here
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
Update:
In the netherlands we have a tv-show called "Tros Radar" it helps protecting consumers against big company's when something unrightfull happens. Guess what, the Xperia Z series came in that show that alot of people is having issues with these phones (breaking screens and USB connectors), if you're dutch you can send them a form containing your info.
Bottom-line is that this is really a known issue and the guys that needed to pay for the repairs should contact sony now with this info as well.
