So I've had my xperia xz1 compact since 2018. It has android 9 which it was updated.
I bought an xz1 and it only has android 8. How come there was no update?
Sorry if this is a basic question. I'm a newbie thanks for answering.
Any way I can get an update to android 9 like my xz1 c?

it will be in november
as reported by an official press on an italian android blog HDblog
sorry for my bad english at first , but i dont know how to update , they talk about ( xrecovery - wipe - Cyanogenmod - MiniCM6 ) but i dont know what all of that and i see on youtube but i try to restart my phone and press BACK button like they did in video but its nothing happen , its open normally , plz i need that so much by step by step plz
I think they were talking about the official update to 2.1, which you can get through the Sony-Ericsson PC Companion. There's no need to deal with xRecovery or miniCM. Just open PC Companion, connect your phone and it shoud check for updates. And then follow the instructions on the monitor
How would I be able to root my Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro? I have searched Google but haven't found anything except rooting the Xperia Mini Pro.
Thanks, Jayden
Me too
I'd like to know too. I'm referring to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro model # MK16a
There are instructions for the rest of the family of phones - the Arc. Neo, and Play, but not the Pro.
There is currently a thread about it, but final instructions are not yet available as they are still working on it with the OP of that thread.

Thanks...I forgot I'd responded to this thread earlier. I meant to come back and let Jades007 know I was working on it with some help.
Folks, I am trying to get the full encryption on my sony xperia x10 mini pro working. This might also be interested for other people...
According to different sources on the internet, full encryption of phone is available (as regards of OS funcionality) as of android version 3/4.
My Xperia phone came with 2.3, so I updated it to 4.0.4. via the sony update tool.
But at Settings/security I still do not see the "Encrypt phone" capability. I checked with a friend who als has an android 4 phone and when he goes to Settings/security, he does have this option.
So I rooted the phone and installed the Android SDK kit. I now have a shell with root access and looked around through some config files but I do not see anything regarding security capabilities anywhere.
So can anyone please tell me where the files are so I can enable encryption capability to come up at settings/security?
I am sure there is some config file somewhere that just needs to be modified, like set "encryption = enabled" or something like that.
If I am wrong please let me know.
Why is this encryption capability not available by default (as on other phones with android 4) anyways?
Thanks for your support!

You don't have an Xperia X10 Mini Pro (2010), you've got an Xperia Mini Pro (2011), there's a separate forum for your phone. (And when you're there, ask questions in the Q&A section and not the general section)

Sorry for my fault and thanks for advice. Will do!
Hi Guys!
I tought that all 2011 xperia devices officially received this last GB update, but maybe i am wrong.
On the sony forums i found a couple of screenshot made by an xperia mini ST15i user (http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-mini-pro/4-0-2-A-0-84-update-now-available/m-p/287485#M15361) so the update was released at least for this device.
As far as the others is concerned, i found no sure answer online. Does anyone know?
Thanks in advance.

The best way is to flash through flashtool. But as you are new to this, I don't recommend this to you. The best way for you, is to upgrade through software update on your phone or through Sony Companion, if the update is available in you country/region. I hope I was slow enough.
