Xiaomi Mi Box 3 Pie update - where's Prime Video? - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

Hi, I just updated my Mi Box 3 to pie OTA, but I'm disappointed to see that there's still no "channel" for Amazon Prime Video
Like everyone else with this box, I sideloaded the Prime Video app ages ago. Do you think this is the problem? Does anyone with this box have the Prime Video channel after the update? I'd rather not go through the hassle of resetting the box if it isn't going to change anything

[Q] Play Store App Demo Videos Don't Play

On my Nexus 9, in the Google Play Store, when I try to watch the demo video for any app, it will only play about 1 second of the video. Anyone else have this problem? Please reply either way. I would like to know if its working for anyone else.
Thanks!
Same for me. I first thought it was WiFi sucking, but its too consistent, its a bug on n9, works fine on my nexus 5.
Thanks. I thought the same thing and I have also tested on the same WiFi with my Nexus 5, both running Android 5.0.1 and it works on Nexus 5. Anyone know if this has been reported?
Ditto. Nexus 7 on Lollipop. Same issue. Tried all the normal debugging methods with the play store and video players.

Ditto on Nexus 9 here also.
I have the issue on my Shield Tablet running 5.0.1
I went into the developer options and unticked use Nuplayer, rebooted, that got it working for a while before it stopped again.
Ticking and unticking that box now has no effect.
Nexus 9 on 5.0.1
I see I am not the only one that has this issue. I did notice that if you hit the settings icon lower right corner of the screen. You have an option to select quality which doesn't seem to stick. But it also has a youtube link that if you tap, takes you to the youtube app and plays the video just fine through the youtube app itself.
Also when listening to music through the google play music app, when it has an option to play the music video, the same thing happens .
I have tried messing with the NuPlayer and AwesomePlayer, rebooting etc. and can only get 1 video to play before its back to not playing again.
I saw that a similar issue was reported to google where no videos could be played but this seems different? Can anyone confirm if its the same or different? and/or if google is working on a fix?
Exact same issue here on Nexus 9. Videos play for about half a second then stop. This happens in Google Play store previews, and Google Music videos. I have tried everything, including restarts, clearing cache, deleting/reinstalling all related apps, adjusting Nuplayer setting, and even factory reset. My Nexus 5 has no problems, so it's clearly a Nexus 9 bug. I tried contacting Google and they gave me the typical 'turn your tablet off by holding the power button for a whooooole 2 seconds....' response. I'm a long time Nexus fan, but I do get tired of these bugs.
Anyone found a solution?
It's not just a Nexus 9 problem, I'd already posted it doesn't work on my Shield tablet and I upgraded my old N7 2012 to 5.0.2 yesterday and it doesn't work on that either.
I don't think there is any solution sadly.
Just uninstall latest youtube update from playstore and it will work fine again.
Stupid google didn't fix this issue yet.
Wow, uninstalling youtube updates actually did work! Thanks!
Worked for me too, thank you
Yup Really puzzles me why google didn't fix this yet.
My back cover was also flexing a bit around middle and upper right (when looking from the back side). That was a pretty easy fix. Now its solid as a rock. If anyone has that problem I could upload a fix on youtube.
Besides above problems, I absolutely love this device.. Imo it's hand down the best android tablet to date, despite these flaws.
If you upgrade to YouTube v10, this will also fox the problem.
If you don't see the update in the Play Store you can download it from APK Mirror.

Yes, I can confirm this. Installed latest YouTube update from the Play Store (10.03), now demo videos play fine.

Amazon Prime Video working on Mi Box 3 running Oreo OTA Update

I just got the Oreo update on my Mi Box 3 today, so I decided to try get Amazon Prime Video working again. It was a success. Prime videos pay in 1080p with sound. I don't have the Mi Box connected to my 4K TV, so I am not able to test it for 4K. Using Amazon Prime Video for Android TV version 4.7.9.
The Amazon Prime Video for Android TV in the Google Play store still does not list as compatible. But the sideloaded app installed without any issues.
Search Google for "4.7.9-googleplay-armv7a" and the APK is easily found.
If the link makes the post. I located the APK here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/8qtsaa/prime_video_android_tv_479googleplayarmv7a_apk/
FYI Amazon prime video was already working running on version 4.5.17 last month running the marshmallow rom. . version 4.5.17 had some random video freeze issue.
few days before the Oreo update I was able to run v4.7.9 with no issues. Random freeeze issue was fixed.
Good to know. I had given up on ever getting it to run on Android TV version 6.
Hi! I also have android 8.0 on my mibox. I sideloaded the prime video 4.7.9 version for android tv, installed it without any issue, but when I start playing any video I get an error message which says "the video can not be played at this time"
Should I do anything else to get it running?
Thanks!
Solved it with factory reset. 4.7.9 is working.
Only 1080p

You will need to update manually to at least MM 1901 or Oreo 2405. Try first on MM as there is no reverting backward once you are on Oreo.

Mate 20 Pro & Chromecast /Google Photos

When trying to cast Google photos onto my chromecast all of the images are pixelated.... Even Google photos splash screen when the app dispal2on my TV. Connection is fine as I can stream YouTube and BBC iplayer in HD
I have also just tested my wife's iPhone and pictures cast fine onto the TV
Problem must be with my Mate 20 pro or Google photos on Mate 20
I have cleared cache on play services and GP. I have also tried via Google home app.
Is anyone else having same issue with displaying GP on chromecast?
Would you mind just testing for my sanity?
I have the exact same problem with both the P20 and Mate 20 Pro. Friends' phones like the Pixel 3 and Galaxy S8 work perfectly fine.
Weird because the cast will come directly through the Chromecast via net rather than phone, the phone would only at as a remote for that
Not just that, even screen mirroring is pixelated. I thought of starting a thread on this, glad you did. I am using my old redmi note 4 for mirroring..Huawei! get your basics right..
I have the same problem with P20 pro + chromecast.
The AllCast app works well in google photos.

Same problem here, when casting the pictures they r pixelated.
Same for me with mate 20 pro. Very annoying. Hope for solution.

I'm at 126 and casting is fine with chrome cast 2, but mirroring looks bad.
Also having the same issue on the mate 20 pro -- I also see you get a warning when screen casting "this device is not optimised for casting" which seems to have been an issue with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus (may still be an issue)
I have a CC Ultra and tested out the mirroring last week and it was pixelated, thought it was just my device.
Glad to see other have the problem. Just bought chromecast and is really dissapointed. Hoping for å fix soon
Looking through the google product forums, it looks as though this issue has been around for a few years now & primarily affects non-google handsets only. People suggest using other apps to cast, and Google reps seem to stop responding to threads after a few comments, or just ignore them.
I've also got this problem. Built-in CC on my Sony TV, never had any problems with other devices previously
I have The same problem as in Main thread post. Anyone found a solution?
I'm also having the same problem of photos being cast in low resolution to my chromecast ultra which is connected to my network via LAN. The photos are stored in Google Photos in their original format. I've tried factory resetting the ultra and deleting cache and data from photos app on phone. The first photo will appear ok but the subsequent photos will appear pixelated. When I go back to the original photo it no longer appears in high quality. So if I turn casting off and on for each photo it works but it's hardly a solution. Using a Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Same problem.

Same problem here
Got the Mate 20 Pro.
Same issue. I've raised it on Huawei forum as well and haven't heard from them. They've asked for our Imei and build no. so waiting on them for a fix. I didn't have any issues with my LG G5. My mates got Pixel and wife's got an iPhone and no issues at all. Seems like Mate 20 Pro issue.
Same issue with Emui 9 om P20 Pro

Amazon prime video app HD streaming compatibility

I just got the device yesterday and installed amazon prime video app to find out the best option available is 0.46 GB/hr and if I'm guessing correctly that's 480p. I come from xiaomi poco f1 and the best option available there was 1.82 GB/hr. From online reviews and DRM info, I can see that LG G8X has widevine L1 license certification. So does this device not support HD streaming in prime video or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.

Is it the same on Youtube and Netflix?
This is true sadly. I believe a software update can resolve this. Netflix plays full hd and hdr videos work as they should on YouTube.
I'm seeing the same max of 0.46 GB/hr. Strange.

Question Xiamoi 11i 5G Screen Casting - Lag Issue

I've recently bought a Xiamoi 11i 5G, everything is great but when I cast the phone to my smart TV it lags a lot! I don't understand why it is happening. Prior to this I had Redmi Note 4 and on it the casting use to work perfectly no matter what video resolution you download 1080p, 720p it used to play smoothly. I usually download movies and series on my phone and watch it on my TV via cast so it's a big issue for me.
I have kept the refresh rate at 60 Hz, I also tried downloading the latest version of Xiaomi Cast & Mi Connect but the issue still prevails.
I use VLC Media Player on my phone to play and even in that I have kept the casting conversion quality to the lowest, so I am running out of options of how to fix it.
Kindly look into and this and advise me what to do, it will be great help.
