Is anyone else having an issue with there phone going into a bootloop after a power cycle? I did a standard At&t update and now my phone bootloops for about 5 minutes when it starts.
Edit -- Has been resolved. Turns out it was a defective SD card.

Background:
I bought this phone (brand new) in late November 2010. Within a week or two the phone started randomly powering itself off (even when the battery has plenty of charge left and the phone is just sitting on my desk). I hadn't performed any modifications at all (no rooting, no custom ROMs). Hadn't even downloaded any apps by that point.
I have never seen it happen... I'll use the phone like normal, the screen saver blacks out the screen like normal, and then I go to use the phone some time later (a few minutes, an hour, etc.) and I find that the phone has powered off on its own. It happens when I have the phone sitting on my desk, so the power button is not being pressed accidentally. The frequency is intermittent: sometimes it will go for a few days with no shutdowns and then sometimes it will happen twice in one day.
At first I thought it was a battery problem (I thought maybe the battery was overheating and the phone was shutting off to cool down) so I went to Telus and they gave me a new battery. I tried that for a week but the problem persisted. So I took it back to the Telus outlet again and they sent it away to an LG-authorized service center for repair. Doing this cost me $30 for shipping + service charges because I didn't purchase an extended warranty and I was 1 week past the 30 day device exchange period.
When I received my phone back (the service bill said that a "software upgrade" had been performed) the problem still continues! The phone has been shutting down at random exactly the way it did before it was sent away for service.
I didn't want to send the phone away for service again so I tried updating the phone's software myself - hoping this would stop the random shutdowns. I downloaded & installed the proper USB drivers using the LG Mobile Support Tool (I needed to put the phone in USB debugging mode in order for the mobile support tool to detect the phone). Everything was going fine, the LG Update Software downloaded the ~100mb firmware update file (I think V10s) and proceeded with the install but somewhere near the beginning of the install the phone went into Emergency Mode and stayed stuck there. I left it alone for 30-45 minutes just in case this was part of the install but after the program stopped responding I figured this wasn't normal. So I unhooked everything and took the battery out hoping it would reset itself but every time I would power the phone on it would bring up the LG screen then proceed to a bright yellow screen with the text "Emergency Mode!!" displayed.
I tried a few methods to get the phone out of emergency mode (hard reset/factory reset, leaving the unit off for extended periods of time, trying the mobile support tool again, etc.) but nothing worked. The only way I was able to get the phone operational again was to download the original firmware (V10g), install the MS XML sp3 parser and run the KDZ software updater (with phonemode "EMERGENCY" selected).
So with the phone running like normal again I figured I would try the update again. Now when I connect the phone and run the LG Mobile Support Tool it says a new software update is available but then when I click on "Start Updating" it goes through it's initial checks then says that this model cannot be updated, and it won't even attempt to download the new firmware update.
I have found the V10s available here: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/ATLSRB/V10s_00/V10S_00.kdz
But I am hesitant to try and install it with the KDZ updater in case something goes wrong.
My questions:
1. Is anyone aware of a fix for the random shutdown problem? I read through this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944847&page=2
but I didn't see any concrete solutions.
2. Do you think the V10s software version will fix the random shutdowns?
3. Can you think of anything that I'm doing wrong? Why won't the LG Updater let me install the update now?
Thanks
unlikely to upgrade to fix something, most likely factory marriage.
before upgrading try to make a hard reset
when the flash in KDZ try disabled LG Modem Driver
Maybe a problem of a bad SC-card. Try a different one (insert the new one and format it in the phone, then copy the content of the original one via usb)
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
I'll try installing with the LG Modem disabled.
If that doesn't work I will purchase a new sd card. I'm still using the stock one that was provided with the device so maybe that's causing the problems.
Had this phone for a while rooted it and everything was fine, then after replacing the phone i gave it away to a friend. Weeks later my friend asks for help saying it just sits on the AT&T logo, i take it and fiddle with it for a while.
My problems are
1.Wont boot past first splash screen.
2. Wont go into hboot if i try one of two things happens
1. If a sd card is in it a screen saying Firmware update Step 1/2 Unpacking then at the bottom it says update failed and sits on this screen.
2. If no sd card is in it will display a bright pink screen and just sit there
It was rooted
I have no idea what my friend did but suspect he isnt the culprit
different sd cards do not change anything
I have exhausted my knowledge about android and would like any advice.
Hello,
I have an issue with my HTC One GpE. I updated it to 4.4 with no SIM card in it (I'm using a Nexus 5 at the moment). Ever since the update, I cannot have the phone last more than 30 seconds before rebooting. The phone continues to reboot until I reboot it into bootloader. I can then power down from there. I already tried emptying the cache using adb tools. Nothing has worked. I already sold the phone and if I don't find a fix by tonight, I am going to have to refund the buyer his money, leaving me stuck with a brick. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hey guys,
So my problem started 2 days ago.I had lollipop from the archi weekly and the last update i suddenly got random reboots and later that day it started with a constant boot loop and if i get lucky i can start my phone for a minute and then again the same thing. So i had problems with going to recovery/download mode even there i got boot loops. However,i took another battery from a friend of mine and i managed to get in recovery and delete dalvik/cache.But didnt work.So i read and realized i had to install stock rom and i did now i am with jelly bean and even now i sometimes get boot loops and after a while everything is fine.So i have a coupe of questions:
1.Is it possible that the problem might come from the battery?
2.Even now with this rom my sim card is not working,i cant call anyone how can i fix it?
3.How to fix everything ?
Thank you.
Edit: i did also a factory reset.
1. A broken battery max causes random boots. A broken power-button too. Test it with your friend's battery.
2. You probably lost your IMEI.
when i write *#06# i have IMEI number so i guess this means i havent lost it?
Compare with IMEI on label behind battery. If it's the same, you win.
well is not the same so i dont win what does it mean?
It means, it's a factory-IMEI: worthless.
Perhaps this helps.
I've been very frustrated, its only been like 1 year since I bought it. First, I got bootloop out of nowhere after updating (I got bootloop just 1 week after i picked up the phone from service center, the audio jack was broken at that time), then the phone is not detected on any pc. I tried downgrading from SD card, and it works at first, then the phone restarted itself, then I got bootloop again. I tried the same method (upgrading and then downgrading) then it showed warning that the phone is in Red State when i entered Android Recovery. It says the phone is in Red State, it is corrupted and cannot be trusted, it gave me a link that doesnt solve my problem. The question is, is this the end? do I still have hope? or should I give up and let it die?
