IMHO trying to upgrade your phone's Android doesn't make sense because device has only 1GB RAM etc.pp . Look inside here where device's hardware requirements with regards to Android 7 are listed.

That was the root kit I used on my 321 tab z. Don't forget to backup DRM key before unlock bootloader.

DooMLoRD's tool is for earlier firmware releases and will not work with Android 4.2.2. Use the Vroot tool instead. Search this forum for information about the Vroot tool.

Thanks Xperia Tablet Rooted:good:
firewall of china
I purchased an xperia tablet z and I've had a lot of fun with it. It has its issues. But what's bothering me most is that because I bought it in China, it does not have access to any of the google services. So, no PLAYSTORE. And I am not a techie either. I looked into what rooting is and what flashing is. I was wondering if I could somehow root the device and install a new firmware from some other country... (or maybe its a new kernel.. I don't know what the difference is!) would I be able to run Google services ??
I have seen some devices here in china that have access to google services. So I know that it is possible. Just don't know how. HELP! And ya, I tried downloading Vroot and it took me to a Chinese website! Root"dashi".... in Chinese. And I don't think rooting is sth I can figure out in Chinese language. Can I get a link for the English version of it?
Details on device:
Sony Xperia Tablet Z SGP111
Build number: 10.3.1.C.0.136
Android version: 4.2.2
Kernel version: 3.4.0-g7eaf37a-01078-g2ebac89.

You should be able to flash a firmware from a different region.. Also make sure the firmware you flash, matches your tablet specs for example if your tablet is wifi only, then pick a European wifi only firmware.. if it's a 4g model then pick 4g European firmware.. Good Luck...
Rooted and enjoying google services!
Thank you for replying to my post. I was able to root my SGP311 android 4.2.2 with Kingo Android root software. vRoot works too.
But after that it was quite complicated. hard time installing CWM recovery. Trial and error until i was finally able to flash the japanese firmware. it took me back to and 4.1 which was great because now i finally had the tablet UI and could access small apps like it was meant to.
Thankyou all developers at xda for making it possible.

First off welcome to XDA ! To root your device I would recommend checking out this thread and downloading the root tool from the link in that thread. Make sure to follow the onscreen instructions of the bat file included in the root tool very carefully that you will use to root your phone. If you have any questions about anything involving the rooting process, or have any questions at all about Android customization of Android in general feel free to ask (You can PM me as well if you want).

The root procedure should still work with 4.2.2 but to be on the safe side I would recommend instead checking out this thread that will show you how to root your LG G2 (D802) with the shipping ROM (Android 4.2.2). Make sure to watch the video in that thread (At least) twice over that way you feel comfortable with the root procedure, and what is involved. As far as does it effect the bootrom which I take it you are referring to your devices stock ROM that is on the device. Rooting does not effect the stock ROM on your device it just gives you root file system access and superuser privileges (Root user, which is like administrator privileges on Windows), in the process of rooting your device the Superuser app and su binary will be installed this is what allows you to run root apps and other root tasks. If you still have questions let me know.
thanks so much mate , i appreciate the help you gave , :good: ,

Glad you got it rooted! The next step if you want to customize it further is to install a custom recovery image such as TWRP following the instructions in the thread. A custom recovery image will allow you to backup your stock ROM, flash custom ROMs, custom kernels and other MODs. For custom ROM's Cyanogenmod 11 for your device is a great custom ROM to start with lots of great customization options and performance tweaks. I would start with these and then I would check out the G2 D802 Android Development Section, if you want to customize further. Always happy to help people out, let me know how it goes :good:.

Hi K_Sam,
1. No
2. Yes, http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-k900/development/rom-vibe-rom-v7-t2625362/page12
3. Like I said in 1., you CAN'T install 4.4 yet. Lenovo released 4.3 with the K920. So may be, just may be someone can do something magical.
Or try vROOT. It works for 4.2.1 and 4..2.2 roms
I have a "Swipe MTV Slate" Tablet with Android jellybin 4.2.2. By CPU-Z application I knew, It has Root access. It's "System Update" option always shows "The system is up to date". But I want to upgrade it's android version from 4.2.2 to 4.4.4(KItkat) as I want to get "Screen capture" facility. Can I do this ? If yes, then how to do this ? Please tell me step by step procedures as Iam a beginner in this field and I have no knowledge about technical terms of softwares. Thank you.
I have a prestigo multipad 4 which I want to reinstall the android os on it. Currently it has android but its limited to my company's software which it doesnt let me do anything but login on its software.
I need a guide how to delete all of its data and do a clean installation of android os. I saw from the manufacturers site that supports android 4.4.2. It would be nice if u can help me with that.
Thanks in advance.
Does a delete all data and just install the 442 firmware from the manufacturers site is the right thing to do?
