Is there any way I can spoof my viewfinder? So that apps such as Snapchat, or Instagram etc use a fake static image as opposed to the actual camera input?
Or even, is there a way to use a virtual camera on an android emulator running on windows? As I can only choose a physical camera...
Thanks

How do the various Android Apps compare to just using the Web App versions of the same thing in a browser like Dolphin HD or Firefox for Android ?
For all those tiny screened phones, the Android Apps compensate for the lack of space, but given that the Nook Color has 1024 x 600 resolution, it seems that you could just use the same web apps that one uses with a laptop.
Examples:
- Gmail
- Yahoo Mail
- Youtube
but I'm sure there are more (certainly everything Google does is accessible through a browser, otherwise the Chrome OS would not work).
What is your experience ?
The Android apps for Gmail and YouTube are much better IMO. In both cases, everything is more "fluid" and responsive in the native application. I'm guessing this is because the frames and pictures don't have to be loaded and rendered with each click. Also, the text reflow and window sizing for both is perfect with the android app, while the web app can be a bit finicky.
In the case of YouTube, the Android App has MUCH better playback, and the navigation is much more intuitive for a touch device with no hard keys. Also, the buffering in the Android YouTube seems to be optimized for a portable device, while the web version is all over the place.
Hope that helps!
Hello, friends.
I don't know if it is possible, and want to know for sure. I have rooted Asus ZenPad and want ro replace original camera with any program/software live streaming server (RTMP or any..). Now an example:
I have notebook with camera sharing over WiFi (any possible way). If I will open camera app on my ZenPad, it will not use it's original built-in camera, instead it will use my Notebook's shared camera (OVER WIFI IT'S IMPORTANT). Is this possible?
I'm trying to build a device that's going to be a large, unattended screen that will have an app that will be the main app running on this screen. I want the hardware to be small and inexpensive. What I think I need is a essentially a headless android tablet that I could use my own monitor with. I was thinking of developing this as an Android TV app and using an Android TV box or stick as the hardware. This won't have a touch screen, keyboard, or mouse. It will be all self running, or possible controlled by a mobile app or voice control. These are my requirements:
- Boots up right into the main app, but able to launch other TV apps from the main app.
- Able to interface with an add-on camera like the front facing camera on an Android device, which would be controlled by my app to record or just show video to the screen.
- Able to interface with different sensors such as ambient light sensor, motion sensor, IR, ect. (How would I do this? Over USB with an external microcontroller that connects to the sensors?)
I'm trying to find the best platform to develop this on. I know how to do it with a Windows machine, but don't have a ton of experience with Android. Would Android TV be a good platform or are there better options?
Hi,
Im trying to get the Feed of my 4K Webcam into the Camera of an Android Emulator but i'm having trouble getting the full Resolution. I have tried many Emulators but they all seem to have some specific max camera resolution set. On nox and Genymotion I get a max camera resolution of 640x480px, On KoPlayer i got 1280x720p, in Android Virtual Device Manager (AVD) i got 1280x960px and in Memu which was the best one so far I got 1920x1080p. However that resolution doesnt suffice for my purposes. Does anyone know an Emulator which supports higher virtual camera resolutions? Or how to create a Virtual Device in AVD which supports higher resolutions?
I know there is
hw.camera.maxHorizontalPixels
and
hw.camera.maxVerticalPixels
for AVD
but I dont know where to edit those properties.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
