Hello to whom may come upon this,
I flashed the v20-g8 engineer-laf file on my lg g8 att lg820UMi. I cannot personally boot back into my phone, nor even go into factory hard reset. When I boot into factory hard reset mode it does carry me to the finalized, "Do you wanna really reset all personal data etc...". But it just freezes after I press yes, and does not do nothing. I was trying to bootloader unlock my phone, but it was the wrong file or wrong format. It freezes in DL mode initially booting into DL mode and I can't access fastboot. Check s/n and imei does and factory reset yes, but continuing to actually factory reset and pressing the final yes; it hangs. So I do not know what to do. Rather there is an hardware fix to this internally or to just throw this phone in the trash. the digitizer on the phone is cracked, but the oled panel is still intact. Maybe someone could buy it for the microphone pieces and frame, but the motherboard on this phone is ****ed. I guess the boot.img is corrupted or whatever the bios to booting is dis-logged. Can anyone help? I wish it would just run the factory reset program fully then my system could restore itself, but we all know that the lg g8x att version does not have an kdz to be flashed plus the computer cant pick it up or communicate with the phone because it freezes in DL mode. Please help. I actually sort of love my phone(s). First time ever bricking an phone and usually an way out the hole but its like lg forced my in a ditch. Bad thing is I actually advertised this phone pretty well. LG cough...cough...do better or stop making phones for att because ATT is pretty stuck up because there towers and routers do the talk these days then their software. Ugh... Wasted my stimulus money

First off, I must apologize and say. Yes, I know there are all ready two other posts just this week on 'Did I kill my phone, Is it dead etc.'
So, to make a long story short.
After much research, I started at the ppcgeeks.com forums, then ppckitchen.org and finally made my way over here. I decided it was time to start working on updating my phone.
First off; I downloaded the wrong link and flashed the Olipro 1.20 boot loader on the phone, instead of the 2.4x version that is being used now. No big deal, I then got into boot loader mode and went to flash a stock rom to fix the issue. The rom had an error in the middle and reset. Then my phone reset. It went back into boot loader mode and then after using titan_exitbl.exe it booted to the standard HTC screen. After a moment now at this screen it will display the HTC logo and No Radio in red. After much reading I found that I could simply flash my 512mb MicroSD card, and did. And I placed the TITAIMG.nbh file on the root. (that is the only thing on the card) to upgrade the radio. But now when I try to restart into boot loader mode (power, camera, reset) it only resets and does not go into boot loader mode. I can perform a hard reset and go through the prompts there, but after it completes it simply brings me back to the HTC logo, and No Radio.
There is no connection via Active sync, nor through the USB, so I can not use mtty to edit anything on the boot loader end.
I have done quite a bit of reading and I figure this probably has been asked before, but is there a way to get my phone to get back to boot loader mode so I can load at least a stock rom onto it?
I don't know a whole lot about troubleshooting phones considering I have only had mine for a few weeks. However I have worked for Geek Squad for 3 years so troubleshooting is kind of in my nature.
Have you tried putting it in bootloader mode without your SD card in there? If there is something wrong with the .nbh you have on it and it keeps trying to load it when in bootloader, that could be your problem. I would remove the SD card and try bootloader, at which point you should be able to flash via usb.
Worth a shot at least.
Flash a new bootloader like 2.47 via sd. Then start loading radio and rom from there.

Yes I have tried with and without the SD card in the phone. I have also tried with and without the phone connected to a USB cable.
I cannot flash anything to the phone because i cannot establish a connection to the phone via ActiveSync.
Did you try what I suggested? Can you get to just the bootloader screen? Hold power and camera then push reset at same time for bootloader.

That is the problem. I have tried that. power, camera, and reset. And any combination of other button, SD card in/out, USB in/out, and anything else i can think of...
The bootloader screen will Not come up.
What can the phone do? Kinda sounds like it might be bricked.

I know, I hope it is not. This is my phone for work, and my boss is pretty pissed that I might have just bricked a phone he just paid for.
It will turn on from the power button, i can reset it normally with the reset push switch. (it then returns to the HTC logo, and No Radio in red). I can also do the 'bootloader' reset, but this does not bring it to the bootloader, it simply acts as a standard reset. I can also do a 'hard' reset, both of the select keys, and the reset switch. It will then boot into the 'do you want to hard reset your phone' prompt, and it will let me go through those steps that would normally hard reset the phone. After the reboot when that is finished it again goes to the HTC logo and No Radio. So, with that, I sure hope that some part of the bootloader is in tack.
Thank you for your help so far.
Are you sure you are holding both the camera and power button at the same time and then pushing reset button while still holding?

From what it sounds like, you're trying to run the bootloader with and without the SD card in. The problem is, it sounds like you don't have a working file actually on the SD card. It also seems that since you cannot make an ActiveSync connection, you aren't able to transfer files to and from the card.
Do you have a microSD card reader?
Check this out: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
Particularly Section II.2.A. That may fix your problem.
Hope this helps!
Oh and if it doesn't something you said about your boss having 'just' paid for your phone. If its new enough... w-a-r-r-a-n-t-y!
He can't follow those suggestions on the wiki exactly because he cant get a usb connection. But I agree he needs to load the 2.47 on his card using a adapter then try bootloader again.
Did you try EnterBL.exe?

I cannot even get the bootloader to come up. Yes I know that I am pressing both buttons and hitting Reset.
And as for Warranty, Will they warranty a phone that has the updated bootloader on it? I know there is a utility to Re-flash your phone to stock, but well, i cant even get mine to do anything at this point. I dont want sprint to tell me that they will not warranty it because I have 'tampered' with it, or 'voided the warranty'.

I did not know there was such a tool.
A direct link would be great. That sound like what i need to get out of this mess.
Heres the deal, if you can't get it to go to bootloader, the carrier probably can't either....
I think the enter_BL only works if active sync works, but I could be wrong.
I've never seen a phone yet, or heard of one for that matter that boots as far as yours does yet doesn't go to a bootloader screen when reset properly. It does sound pretty messed up.
More than likely, if you go into the store and say "Hey this is messed up because I tried to update the bootloader on it" you'll get some pretty quizzical looks. They'll more than likely take your phone in the back, not do a thing with it, and then issue you a replacement (if they have one in stock) or mail you one as soon as possible.
It does sound like you may have created a brick, but luckily this one is replaceable. Consider it a "lesson learned" for the next one.
(My apologies if I offend any VZW store employees. I sure there is a rare breed of highly competent and capable technicians out there, but I have yet to meet one in my area.)
Boots Up?
Does your phone boot all the way up where you can explore your SD card on your phone? If you can PM me and I may have a solution for you if your bootloader allows you to flash by SD card.

So, I walked into the store, and simply said. "I have insurance, what do I need to tell you in order to get the phone fixed." "what do you mean?" "Well i have my phone here, it is totally bricked, the bootloader is toast, and there is no radio or rom, and it will not connect to activesync. So, if i need to come back and tell you my phone is stolen i can."
"Um ok? bricked? bootloader?... Here, let me see it"
(Lucky for me my company had just purchased about a dozen phones from this store, and the techs were happy to work with me)
The tech took the phone in back, and he and another tech looked at it, tried to hard reset, tried the enter bootloader key press. tried to plug it in. Then they both scratched their heads with a completly dumbfounded look on their faces. One of them walked to the closet, grabbed a new phone and brought it to me and said. "Congrats, this is the most screwed up phone I have seen come in here. Here is a brand new one, We will have to send this one back to corporate."
So, now shiny new phone in hand.
I can say simply "Lesson Learned"
Thanks for all of your help guys.
Hello everyone.
I ran into a serious mishap with my brand new work phone. I was handed a HTC radar c110 with Windows phone 7.5 to work with, but the phone had a little issue with calls and I decided to do a factory reset to see if it would sort it out.
So I searched on how to do a factory reset, and took a quick run to the bathroom before I could complete it. But my friend decided to finish it off for me, and somehow mispressed some button I guess, because a screen saying "Omega system loader menu" came up instead, with "FFU method" and 2 options, "MTPz" and "TFTP protocol". She took a blind guess at TFTP protocol, and when I came back the phone wouldn't turn on, it keeps resetting every few seconds and only says "TFTP protocol" on the bottom of the screen. Sometimes an image asking to connect the phone to the pc comes up.
I have tried the factory reset after this a couple of times, but when the phone restarts, this TFTP protocol image still comes up and the phone won't start. My guess is I have effed up the OS. What do I do now? Any guess? I don't want to go to my new job on monday and say that I screwed up the phone they gave me yesterday :S.
Any help is very appreciated. Thank you very much.
EDIT: I can get to USB host mode screen (white screen with "enter usb host mode"), and the white screen where you can "image crc" and "factory reset", not sure if it's called bootloader screen? I'm pretty sure I can get somewhere from one of these screens, but I'm not familiar with rom flashing and bootloaders at all.
EDIT2: I have been investigating further and I can now access the bootloader mode (the factory reset one), update mode (the omega system loader one) and usb host mode. I just need to figure out how to flash a rom (preferably an official one, as it's a company phone) into it now.
EDIT3: I got it fixed, not really sure how, but trying different things ended up booting the phone as normal. I am back to having the same problem as before though, but better than having a bricked phone I guess.
any idea what the solution ended up being?
I think reverting back to my original stock rom might be the answer for me, how did you do it?
I've just managed to do the same..
Any help as to how to sort out this issue? TFTP Protocol appears at the bottom of the screen with all the other symptoms referred above.. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP.
Ok, so I have a serious problem... My phone is locked and when I touch the text bar to enter the password, no keyboard comes up. Important information:
- I just upgraded to jelly bean (the official one that came out today)
- as far as I can tell, everything is working fine, i just can't unlock it
- when I touch the text bar, it makes a noise, but no keyboard comes up
- was working fine immediately after the upgrade
- I got done fixing some settings and locked the screen
- this may have something to do with changing the default keyboard to Google Keyboard (it was acting a little funny immidiately after, like it was crashing)
- I have Android Lost installed, the unlock function isn't working, but others do work
- phone is encrypted
Unless someone has some ideas for me within the next couple hours, I'm going to wipe the phone. Obviously, I would prefer to not do that.
==========================
EDIT:
I've managed to use Android Lost to make some backups of some stuff, but I'm still trying to figure out how to unlock the screen. I've found that I'm able to install apps remotely from google play if that gives gives anyone some ideas.
=============================
EDIT2:
I had another idea. If this is a problem with the keyboard, is there a way for me to change it remotely? Can I install another one via the store?
Alright... I gave up on trying to get passed the lock screen and tried doing a factory reset. I was afraid of the super brick issue, so instead of doing a wipe in recovery mode, I used Kies to reflash it. However, that did nothing. The phone started back up and acted like nothing happened. It asked me for the same password, then got to the lock screen and had the same keyboard issue.
I've tried various roms, but nothing seems to wipe the encrypted information properly. At some point, I got it to forget the password, but it still thinks that one exists. I even rooted it and tried shostock3, but when it boots, it asks for a password. The old password doesn't work, so I can't get passed it. I tried entering the "wrong" password many times and it said it would wipe the phone, but it just restarted to the SAMSUNG boot screen and just sat there. I pulled the battery after half an hour...
I should note that stock gingerbread seems to work fine...
Does anyone have any ideas on how to wipe the encrypted data?
If you can push apps to it, try pushing an app like no lock or something.
Short answer: No.
It is probable that encryption information is stored in the efs (encrypted file system) folder. That's where the imei and other critical stuff is stored. I don't believe anyone who posts here in the I777 forum really has a grasp on how phone encryption works though. I've only seen one other person post here who had an issue with an encrypted phone, and he was unable to solve his problem as far as I know.
If you have a proper backup of the efs partition from before the phone was encrypted, it is possible that you could solve the problem by restoring that partition. But I'm not even sure you could write to that section of the phone memory with adb with the phone in it's current state. Edit: if you can boot into stock gingerbread normally, then you can restore an efs backup, if you have one.
I'm guessing you could send it to Samsung and they could fix it for you probably.
I finally got it working. I'm not sure what combination of things did it, but I had to restore it to stock jelly bean (via kies) to get it to wipe the encryption. I guess the stock rom knows how to properly wipe it when you keep entering the wrong password. After I got it all cleaned up, I put shostock3 back on. When the battery charges back up, I'm going to try encrypting it again (in shostock).
However, now I found another issue (may or may not be a real problem). I wanted to check if the phone was still unlocked, so I dialed *#SIMLOCK# and it says "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."
Tada!
Creepy, my good friend, would be referring to me and as you know SCIU I didn't ever get it to unlock the phone. Oddly enough a stock ICS rom (my mom now has my phone right up the road so I may try this to see if it will work and then go back to ShoStock3) works fine. I have nothing hidden from the phone storage, everything shows up, it is actually unlocked and rooted though not a custom bios err firmware/ROM because when that is put on there the encryption issues come back and the password is asked for. If the correct password is entered (and my KEYBOARD comes up but I didn't change it from the Android/Samsung one) it proceeds to enter whatever it is supposed to (my guess is the POST area like on a computer when it is entering Windows/Linux, etc.) but the screen stays black (ShoStock logo doesn't even appear if I remember correctly or it does show then goes to black loading screen with the Samsung logo and that is it, perm stuck). However I did try flashing back to Gingerbread ROMs and ICS ROMs though not through official KIES.
SCIU I may have to give this a try if my mom don't mind it and see if that helps fix the problem. Thanks for starting this thread. I am sorry I didn't respond to the PM you sent me (my LGOG, Triple OG, OG, TRIPLE OG, Optimus G AT&T Phone has screen cracked twice and is unresponsive on two different phones so I sent that in to warranty repair [rapid heating and cooling issues]) and haven't been on XDA for a week. If there is anything else you need to ask or bounce ideas off of me then I am all for it.
As far as encryption goes, the process works the same as any other encryption algorithms used (MD5/HASH/SHA-!, etc.) using a basic replica of most file systems although mobile storage tends to work a tad differently. Unfortunately, the freezer trick, brute force, nor any other cracking methods I was able to try at home worked to get it to open up. I tried getting into the EFS area of the phone but never could get to the directory or have it display.
Again thanks SCIU and as I stated I may give this a try if my mom don't care.

You can get the full stock jelly bean Odin flashable tar in the Download Repository. See link in my signature. According to sciguy125, flashing stock jb and then inputting repeatedly the wrong password will clear it. I'm not sure how many times it takes, 5 or 10 I think. I've never worked with an encrypted phone. I'm just repeating what I have read others say. I've seen the above posted by at least one other person. You should be able to flash the stock firmware using Odin. The one you want is I777UCMD8

Friend, this is the forum for the S2 (Samsung), so you won't find anything about Huawei devices here - best to ask your question in the forum for your device.
That being said if you are rooted and have a custom recovery, simply power the device off and boot into recovery and perform a factory reset from there. If that doesn't work do a full wipe (this means wiping /system), then re-flash the ROM/gapps.
me too!!! do you have some tips for me?? i almost fainted when i knew that the keyboard isnt working.... i do have a lot of important files in my phone.
Easy, you fools! JUST KIDDING lol Connect an external keyboard. Restart the phone with the keyboard plugged in and you'll have one chance to input the pass every time you restart. Good luck, bosses!

Solution that worked for me
Hello all,
I usually don't post things around, but something told me to do this, since I don't see any threads talking about this solution.
My solution was the following:
Went to google play store on my computer via chrome. Logged in to the user attached to my play store and re-installed all keyboard apps I have.
That worked beautifully and hope this helps other people!!
So i'm helping a buddy out that was having an issue with several Note 2's that were purchased from a company that restricted their employees access to a lot of things on the phone. My friend handed a couple off to me. The first one was not passcode locked and it was a breeze (Basically just enabled USB Debugging). It is up and running. The other ones are passcode locked and when you try to go into wipe the data/factory reset from recovery it says "MDM does not allow factory reset". The Note 2 I'm having issues with in particular has a locked bootloader on KitKat 4.4.2 through Verizon.
I've spent almost literally every waking moment trying to find a way around this issue. I may have compounded it though. I discovered ODIN, flashed the stock firmware in the hopes that it would clear the phone. It did not (password was still in place). I then decided to flash the stock firmware with the .Pit file for an SCH-I605 and made sure re-partition was checked as well as erase nand. After the process completed successfully and the phone rebooted it will no longer boot beyond the Verizon screen. I still have access to recovery and download mode but in recovery its throwing out a bunch of command lines such as E:failed to mount /data etc. I've tried to reflash the stock firmware with and without the .pit file to no avail.
In the mean time I've tried to unlock the bootloader, attempted auto root, and install custom recoveries to see if I could some how get around the MDM issue. I've also attempted to install or flash from ADB and its still the same deal.
Anyway I'm tired, kind of exhausted, and not really sure what avenues I have left. That's where I'm hoping some of you guys come in. If you have any questions for me let me know and I'll try to shed some more light on it for you. Data DOES NOT matter to me so if you can think of anyway I can get this thing completely wiped out it so I can start from scratch it would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
Is it just one phone with this problem or several? The mounting issues are becoming more common around here, and seem to be internal memory failure.

Well tonight I'll be getting my hands on a couple other test SCH-i605 phones that are in the same situation (Password locked and no ability to wipe from recovery) and I'll put them through the paces to see if I wind up with the same issue and get back with you on it.
The basic issue with this phone is just after trying that repartition with the pit file it doesn't want to boot beyond the verizon logo anymore and thats when it started throwing those errors in recovery. It could be a coincidence I guess.
I've been messing with Heimdall today to see if I could get a custom recovery flashed that way but the phone fails protocol initialization. The only thing I can get to flash to this phone is 4.4.2 and the i605 pit file through ODIN. Nothing else will budge.
I guess the question I really need answered, is there another way to wipe data/factory reset without the option in the stock Samsung recovery and no access beyond the lock screen?
What I have to work with is ODIN mode and whatever is in recovery that is not wipe data/factory reset.
So I did get my hands on a couple other phones with passcode locks that have the MDM lockout within the stock recovery that still fails to flash anything in Odin except the stock 4.4.2 firmware. So I can eliminate the idea its hardware. I have 4 phones here 3 of which have the same issue and the 4th I was lucky enough to not have a passcode. Quick fix to get MDM removed that way.
Again any ideas that are slightly more outside the box would be appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: If this helps the phone that is working that I manage to clean all of that stuff off of also throws the same error in ODIN with or without USB debugging so it leads me to believe there is something I'm actually missing... Time to go read more.
Well, sound like it is more than coincidence. Maybe you should contact Samsung and see if they can help?
Yeah I might do that. I'd just hope they have a one size fits all solution because I have about 600 to 1000 phones to tackle... Hahaha.
The conundrum here is that for the MDM company to release the lock on the phone I have to be able to get beyond the lock screen for the phone to process the request. To get beyond the lock screen I need the psswords that the previous company allowed their employees to put on the phones that for some odd reason they didn't have remove.
Anyway if I get this figured out i'll let you guys know how I got it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok. This is the problem.
Is is possible to flash/reset a galaxy s3 that wont boot into recovery or download.
So NO odin!
Phone had an issue, factory reset, google account manager problem upon boot so cannot finish building image. No hardware damage.
Samsung authorised service centre thinks possible internal hdd error.
However irrespective the phone should still boot to "cmos/bios" considering it boots 1/2 - stops at the timezone and repeats google manager error on each 'next attempt'.
So NO boot issue, NO stuck in boot, recognised by 3.3 but recognised as healthy version - so no emergency option available. No combination of keys boots into option for odin
Etc etc
Any freak possibilities, electronic options - de-solder the chipset etc..
Idea people ideas
Tried using a USB jig to force the phone into download mode?
The only way to possibly flash the phone without Odin would be to use different hardware such as an Octopus Box.
A software issue shouldn't cause any problems with download mode or recovery and still be able to boot the os.. No recovery, no os as recovery is responsible for mounting the partitions..
Frp (factory reset protection) is a lockout from a suspected stolen phone. If you don't know the password to the account that was on the device when it was reset then you're locked out. You "might" find a workaround on YouTube but no guarantee.
No download mode = no flash, unless you have a chip programer ie jtag/nand flasher. The phone isn't worth the work.
Thanks
