TA is device specific...
long story short: you're hard bricked your device

I was wondering if anyone's heard of encrypting the device voiding the warranty.
Also, if I lose the password and have NOT rooted the phone and have NOT turned on USB debugging, is there some way to do a factory reset on it? (I don't plan on rooting my phone anytime soon)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II.
Thanks
You can factory reset the device from the bootloader. No need for rooting.
Thanks, however...
Thanks, however it appears that enabling the bootloader voids the warranty, making it almost as undesirable as rooting to me.
Is there a way to do the factory reset without voiding the warranty when I've locked myself out?
(Also, it'd be nice to have my other question answered)
Thanks again
P.S. I clicked on the "tip us?" link on this thread and it says I voted...I'm not sure what that means though. I had javascript disabled so that may be effecting it.

Shut down the device, then Volume Up + Power will take you to a menu.. You can factory reset from there. It won't void your warranty. Don't know whether encrypting would void the warranty..
Hi,
I need to get my s3 unlocked quickly because i'm going away tomorrow.
I took it to a store and asked them if it would affect the warranty. He said that if it gets rooted, then yes. He said he would check and connected it to his laptop.
Before I knew it, the phone was rooted. He tried to cancel it but it appears to be too late. (and the simlock is still in place).
The phone has had problems and been repaired a few times under warranty. So I dont want to lose the warranty.
How can I unroot the phone back to how it was?
Also, if the phone gets rooted and unlocked, can I re-unroot it and re-lock it in the event I need to make a warranty claim?
Thanks
Dan
We have faqs and guides no need for this question .

Hi
Please help to restore TA (DRM). I had not backed it up. How can i restore it? And on what does effect missing drm keys?
If you didn't backup your TA partition there is no way to get back your DRM keys.
The keys affect certain proprietary software, like sonys bravia engine you won't be able to use anymore and your warranty is now void.
Also please do not flash the backup of someone else, as this will hard-brick your phone.
People have been saying for a very long time that if you edit your phone, it's automatically void. But that is not what Sony says. Sony says warranty MAY be void if the phone is edited. I've sent a few edited phones back for repair (normal phone damage, not me) and they happily replaced my phone.
As for TA, in the past, flashtool could return your TA keys. I haven't tried that in a long time so I don't know if you still can. It worked for any device, it was not device specific or unique.
Hello all, I recently bought a z2 off ebay to mess around with, and after reading about the TA I feel it's more trouble than it's worth. Here's where I'm at.
Bought it, tested NF from playstore. Esn shows L1 but did not run test stream to verify 1080. Dumbass me.
Rooted it and backed up TA immediately. Then unlocked bl to try some custom kernels. Realized that I cannot restore ta to a custom kernel and soft bricked.
Used flashtool to recover. Rooted and restored ta then unrooted. At this point I should be stock. But my play store is still uncertified and I cannot re-download nf. If I side load it, it does load and the esn shows l1, but the test streams seem to be locked to 480.
So what do yall think, am I boned? Kaltura reports the phone as l3 now, but my keys seem to still be active.
