Hard bricked RN4x - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I think I seriously bricked my Redmi Note 4x. I accidentally flashed an mi a2 lite rom and I realise too lat. After reboot black screen, no mi logo and no way to access fastboot or something else. Device only recognised as Qualcomm QS-Downlader 900E on Windows. Using test points I am able to make recognised as
Qualcomm QS-Downlader 9800 But when I try to flash stock rom with MiFlash I can obtain error “cannot receive Hello packet, flash error”. I tried to flash with QFIL but in Qualcomm QS-Downlader 9800 mode, it gives me back Sahara error and in Qualcomm QS-Downlader 900E mode, it gives me error “cannot switch to edl mode”. Is there any way to bring back to life my device?

Hi, I can't help you with your problem but I recommend creating a Telegram account and joining Redmi Note 4 groups. You'll get answers to your questions much quicker there.

I have tried as you suggest but no reply found, just some question about what smartphone do or not do. I hope someone could help me. I think but I’m not sure that if edl works there will be a solution to flash rom again even in that hello packet error.

Hi look up the edl fix on miui forum, some Russian guy has a file you run and it forces edl. Then use miflash too to flash official image. I have to use older miflash tool the new one never works.

Just install miflash 2016.04.01 for win 64 bit or 2016.08.30 for win 64 or 32 bit and flash miui rom in edl mode . Make sure you flash proper rom for your phone . ( kate 152 mm has different modem than kenzo 150 mm - just take a measurement or in fastboot mode type the command - fastboot getvar product ) .The latest global dev is 6.12.15

Check your IMEI. If you can't find it then make sure that you have a backup and then restore it. If not you must have a sticker at the back of the box in which the phone had come. You can check for tutorials on the internet to restore it. You also may have a sticker somewhere near the battery.

Formatted internal disk drive in Redmi prime 2-bricked

Hi,
When i am trying install custom ROM using TWRP in my redmi 2 prime phone ,it got strucked it between the process. So my phone got bricked.
So i tried to install via Mi flash tool with stable ROM of MIUI .But unfortunately there are many disk drives opened with the request to format drive when i am connecting my phone with Mi flash tool for the first time.
By mistake i have formatted one disk drive (which had 512 kb size) and it is successfully done
After formatting only i got to its something importent which is need not to be touched. Because my phone is totally dead after this format.
But now i can able to connect my phone using USB cable and the phone is detectable by computer in MI flash tool. But I am unable to flash the phone with stable ROM as the tool showing the error of "hello packet can not be reached". After the error msg the flashing has stopped .
Is there any experienced developers to help me to solve this issue and bring back my phone

Hi, the guides you read are obsolete. In recent MIUI/bootloader the option for "soft" EDL start was removed. If you're lucky so-called "deep flash cable method" will do EDL, otherwise "test point method" will work for sure, see http://en.miui.com/thread-244814-1-1.html
:fingers-crossed:

Redmi Note 5 bricked / stuck in EDL mode, won't reboot

Hello, I'm having a problem. I bought mi note 5 and I wanted to install netflix which wasn't available in the play store because the bootloader was unlocked by default. I decided to lock the bootloader after which my data was erased. Since then I flashed a few roms and got stuck in boot loop.
However later I opened the phone and decided to go to EDL mode and do test point method which was successful.
Now from EDL I disconnect the battery and connect via usb cable to my computer and see the device as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
When I try to flash certain roms, I can only flash if I replace prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660.
Otherwise I get error messages like "can not read port com".
So I replace the file prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr and then successfully flash.
However after the flash the phone doesn't reboot, even if I hold different key combinations like power, or power+down+up
It always remains in EDL mode without rebooting. I can't go into fast boot mode or recovery.
I've read some suggestions in the forum to leave the battery to drain, however having 4000 mAh battery, I don't know how many days it's going to take.
I've tried almost everything without success.
If someone can help me solve this problem, I'm willing to pay.
First of all identify correctly which model do you have to find and flash the correct firmware onto your device, there´s no need to change the programmer file to flash it. so maybe you are mistaking something. I never heard about mi note 5. Maybe your model is Redmi 5 Plus (vince) or Redmi Note 5 Pro (whyred).
Next flash using Mi Flash tool through EDL, no need to discharge battery so the flashing process is with cable disconnected from battery, choose in the tool "clean all" option, your device has to be recogniced in device manager as qualcomm HS-USB 9008. If at time to connect to pc you feel a vibration then restart again the process. Provide some screenshot from MiFlash tool if you don´t solve the issue.
I have this model "Redmi Note 5" It's not plus but it should be using whyred as well I think.
Global-ROM-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-5-4GB-RAM-64GB-ROM-Smartphone-Snapdragon-636-Octa-Core-5
I can't paste the URL here, but if you go to aliexpress dot com you can enter 32879736597 in the search and it's gonna show up.
I am trying to flash through EDL with a fastboot rom from en.miu dot com/a-234.html ★ Redmi Note 5 Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File Download (whyred_global_images_V10.0.6.0.OEIMIFH_20181127.0000.00_8.1_global_8fdb6af8d8.tgz)
I have already disconnected the battery cable and the phone is being detected as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" in device manager.
I am choosing clean all option, but the rom will flash only if I overwrite the 2 firehose files inside the "images" directory.
It then starts flashing and finishes after about 200 secs with "success", however it doesn't reboot or vibrate after that.
If I try to flash with the original whyred_global_images_V10.0.6.0.OEIMIFH_20181127.0000.00_8.1_global_8fdb6af8d8.tgz it starts the flash process and after 10 secs I get "can not read from port COM1"

Still haven't found a solution to this problem. The phone got hard bricked. It always gets detected as Qualcomm 9008 usb and I can flash many roms with QFIL or MiFlash but none of them seems to work. Phone simply won't start. Tried the anti-test rom too - flash is good, after that it just won't boot.
I have no fastboot or recovery.
Flashing stock roms never works. I get "can not read from port COM xy" every time.
If I put the programmer's file prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf in stock rom's images directory then I can flash, but the phone doesn't boot afterwards.
One day by mistake I flashed wrong rom - wayne (also using custom prog_emmc_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf) and surprise the phone booted and vibrated with a message "press any key to shutdown" I see also fastboot but it doesn't work, won't connect to PC because it's the fastboot mode for another cell phone modem, not for redmi note 5 pro
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera
It seems that your phone is Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera (vince) not Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro
(whyred), so, flash a stock vince firmware.
Good luck !

[CLOSED] Mi a3 hard brick , mi flash says write time out device may be disconnected

My Mi A3 was hard bricked and unbricked it using Mi flash tool , again after a few months in got bricked , I unbricked it again but this time I guess I somehow locked the bootloader , Now my device is bricked again , it's not responding not even charging , I set it in edl mode and tried to flash rom using mi flash tool , but this time the mi flash tool is showing me error "write time out , device may be disconnected"
Did you try using Qualcomm's QPST software like described here: https://c.mi.com/thread-3527044-1-1.html
I literally unbricked two Mi A3 phones this morning that had been so screwed up one was boot looping and the other was so bad it wouldn't show the charging light or even boot, nothing would show on the screen at all. I followed this on both phones and I now have two working Mi A3 again.

for those who still have only EDL mode as the last hope, I have a solution.
I have tried all the available solutions on XDA... QFIL.. MiFlashTool all mentioned vesions, Drivers, PCs, Cables etc...eventually I just disconnected the Screen cable (after battery's one) the one on the right side of the battery port. started the flash like mentioned with mi flash tool and the phone on EDL (vol + vol -, enter the cable). it runs smoothly took 177s to finish and the phone is back to A11 stock
