Hi all,
I've been swapping between ROMs recently in search for a new home after leaving unofficial Pixel Experience (not the SODP one), and I decided to 'stop off' in the stock ROM to see if HDR playback was working (it had previously not worked in unofficial PE) and it was. I soon found out that this was, not because of LiveDisplay as I had originally thought, but something in the display settings called 'Video Image Enhancement'. Now, I was under the impression that I had 'lost' this feature when I tossed my DRM keys (and .ta files) away when I unlocked the bootloader, but maybe not if it works in the stock ROM.
So my question is, are there any custom ROMs that support and/or have 'Video Image Enhancement'? Is it a DRM thing that only the stock firmware has, possibly? If it is a DRM issue, what's the likelihood of it ever working in a custom ROM (if it doesn't already)?
(Just to add some context, I have a rooted G8341 running on Arrow OS (Android 11))
You dont need image enchanment bullcrop when you have display profile dci-p3 cause way better than srgb

Hello,
I have some questions regarding full encryption and/or sd-encryption under JB:
I read, that encryption under ICS is an awefull experiance and especially combined with custom roms/recoverys often resultet in dataloss. Since the new policy at work would demand full encryption for private devices brought to work, i wonder, if encryption under JB delivers a better experiance or if i should use a secondary purpose just for work. I specially wonder, if:
encryption works now with custom roms/recoverys (e.g.: what happens if i encryptet my device and do a factory reset to flash a new rom)
flashing/backup routine works like usual (TWRP should be able to handel encryption on my HOX)
encryption makes any difference when connecting my device to my pc to manage sd-card data
the data stored on my device will really be safe or if this encryption is as poor as ms office encryption
encryption result in performance loss for games
Since i have no experiance with encryption on android, i woulde be very thankfull for any comment on this topic.
Cheers!
bump.
noone have encryptet a device yet? don't wanna brick my HOX (since we don't have S-OFF this might be a problem if something goes wrong)
bump again.
So, since noone knows about this, this thread can be closed i guess. Thanks.
I'm not sure about all your questions, as I've never encrypted my phone and used it for long enough to find out, but from what I've noticed, transfer speeds between the phone and computer are slower than normal when encryption is enabled.
Thanks for your repley.
This wouldn't be a problem, more interesting is the question if an rom update / new rom install is still possible. Since the sd-card is encryptet, i wonder, if it will still be accessible to a custom recovery. How did you install a new rom after encryption and did you loose your sd-data?

I am using TWRP for flashing ROMs on my encrypted maguro. Problems started with latest Xylon v15 ROM only, i.e. phone freezes after entering encryption password.
I currently have an locked, unrooted Z5C.
I've always rooted my old phones because I liked trying out new features and hopefully get a better faster phone. However, certain things are critical to me (Phone calls, Camera, GPS, Data/Wifi).
To start with, I basically hope to be able to get some software requiring root to work (Gsam Battery root companion, xposed, cpu gov control) and see if there are some bug fixes (like volume boost). Then any improvements to speed (ie. debloating, etc). Then any added functionality like improved GUIs, better ability to backup.
I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and root or keep waiting for custom ROMs to mature.
As I understand it, there is a procedure to unlock your phone, root, then load replacement DRM keys. What are my options after doing this? Looking thorugh threads, it seems like these are my options:
1. Install back the stock rom. Will this give me identical functionality to what I have now but with the ability to run root-apps?
2. Install a custom ROM. I basically see CM13, XPower, OMNI. If I use a custom ROM, do I loose access to all sony software? (ie. camera app, advanced camera features)
2a. CM13, I see there is currently a bug with videos and bluetooth so that is prob a dealbreaker for me at this point.
2b. XPower ROM. I've been trying to determine what the known bugs for this ROM are.
2c. OMNIROM seems to have issues with the camera so that's prob a dealbreaker as well.
Am I missing any other options?

If you have no "need" to root I'd hold off. There are no custom Roms that are functional as a daily driver yet. On the contrary the OEM ROM has so many bugs it needs to be rebooted a few times a day and wiped every few weeks so you don't have much to lose!
Here's a list of my mods to lollipop that I run:

Hello guys
I would like some help to make a kind of "Camera-survival-fix" for my GS3, while running the back to noot. I tried most of the roms available, but i keep ending with Back to n00t or QS i9300, but the last one is a mix of Note 2 + S3, and i would like to keep the "Stock-state" of the phone, i mean, maintaining it as a real i9300. back to n00t (as QS i9300) are stock, not heavily customize, they are faster than stock and runs the latest official android for the S3 series (4.4.4). There are a lot of apps that requires this API 19 KitKat as minimun OS, like Google Clock, and even, omg, Pokemon Go, so basically this is a heavy difference if we compare to Samsung's 4.3. Now, to the problem...
I've tried most of the roms, as i said, but back to n00t, my lovely one, destroys the camera after the flash, always, and i have to flash JustArchi's Camera Fix Everything to make it work again, otherwise it will forever give me a error "Camera error/black camera". I've looked into it and discovered there's something about the camera firmware which makes this disgrace happens. My CAM FW ver is ZHFJ02 and i noticed that almost all the other roms have a folder "/data/cfw/" where contains like All the camera firmwares, while back to n00t don't have this folder containing the SlimISP.bin files. I think this is the difference, which make my camera work on the customs, but not this one. I want to keep the ROM to survive cache cleaning and factory resets, without the need to use the Archi Camera Fix Everything thing... Basically, i would like to implement the fix in the ROM. I tried to edit the updater-script.bin on META-INF folder, however it doesn't seems to work, it flashes, but i'm afraid that if i overwrite the ROMs update-binary.bin it may not work at all, please help... any help is much appreaciated...
replace from stock or change rom,
i have problem with sms (proces stop working, when i nothing have installed too, its was random for me) and now change to latest cm13 - much better
Awhile back I unlocked my bootloader without backing up my DRM partition. At that time, I installed a stock kernel with DRM fix, and life was good.
Since then, I've installed LineageOS. Unfortunately, the camera sucks, and there's no DRM fix available. Even OpenCamera limits me to 8MP instead of 23MP.
What are my options for going back to the stock camera + DRM fix? I don't care if I keep Lineage, but I'm not sure how to acquire/restore the stock rom without the DRM partition, and can't find a good step-by-step guide here. I'm fine using a 3rd party ROM as well as long as it's stable and gives me full camera functionality. I'd appreciate any help or even just links to threads explaining what I need to do.
Thanks!
You can the Xnext mod thats what Im using.
Hi everyone. this is my very first post. I'm an Owner of a Redmi 6a (Cactus) Running Lineage OS 17.1 Unofficial (20200727) and I'm having some issues with the from so. first, I would like to know which Custom ROM Its better for this model now in 2022. more stable and updated. and also. if I can change the custom ROM to another without problems, just wiping some things ( I have TWRP and Bootloader unlocked already), or I have to get back to MIUI again.
I'm seeking something with the highest android version available for this model without problems like slow charging. camera stops or issues with daily usage, I would like to get my phone a little more powerful again.
Any suggestions, and comments, are well received by me.
Thanks to everybody
welcome to the dark side
so at the beginning i just tested some of the available costom roms, each for a few days (like go shopping) to get to know the functions and to see if they are stable (stable enough - because you can't find all bugs in short time). i am now using LineageOs but this is a personal preference. maybe i should go "shopping" again to see how the other costom roms have evolved over the past two years. as long as i did this testing i flashed all the roms "dirty", this means as you said, just wiping/formatting in twrp and flash new rom but as soon as i left testing and decided to use a rom for a longer period of time i did a "clean" flash. this means flash stock rom again (be careful to don't lock your bootloader again, its preselected in miflash unlock tool), then boot system, enable adb debugging, flash twrp, flash costom rom. i would say from experience that if you do a dirty or even clean flash, lets say you do it 10 times in a row, you will not always get the same result. maybe sometimes in LineageOs (at some devices) the radio is missing, sometimes it's not. sometimes you have a bug with a camera, sometimes you don't. flashing clean should reduce the error rate. this in the first place and the different region versions make it hard to help someone who has a device specific - rom specific - one in a hundred times bug - they need some help with.
