Iv been trying to change the boot animation but doesn't seem like any methods work for me. I tried going to system/media but there's no bootanimation.zip there and the boot animation changer app doesn't work. My phone is also rooted

It's a locked file system by design. There's a module for magisk that allows you to change it.
[MAGISK][MOD]Custom Boot animation and Fonts
Hello, Here is a quick guide on how to replace the boot animation and system font on oos 10.0 (Android Q). ROOT is required. Boot animation: 1. Download the attached zip and extract it. 2. Download a custom boot animation of your choice (XDA...

because thats what the system is looking for when booting (bootanimation.zip) so without modifying how the system works its best to just rename whatever bootanimation you dl'd to bootanimation.zip
I have tried to add numerous different boot animation on my phone. From my understanding you place them in the system/media folder and replace the existing bootanimation.zip with the custom animation and reboot. However I have tried with 4 different animations and only got a black screen. I tried to unizip them and rezip them using 7.z and making sure I zip it with "store" to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated here. Also does it matter it Im using Supermanager to move and rename the zips, or does it strictly have to be thru adb. (Though I have tried both)
Im running gingerblur 1.3 with honey glow theme and boot animation.
Dont unzip it. Put the bootanimation.zip in the system/media. I use Root Explorer.

Oh. You asked how to install you should ask how to create, or how to zip.
I said in my original post that I have tried just placing it in the folder, and that I have tried to rezip them. My question was why it wasnt working, or what I was doing wrong.
Is there any way to get rid of the obnoxiously bright Verizon boot animation?

you wanted to get rid or change the bootanimation?
system, media, and rename the bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak and shutdownanimation.zip to shutdownanimation.zip.bak and reboot.

If you're rooted you can install different boot animations. Is fairly easy to do. They're located in /System/Media
Rename the stock ones like already suggested and then using a Root Explorer or ES File Manager with Root Features enabled....place the new one into that folder and set permissions to RW-R-R and reboot and enjoy

Went ahead and made a custom boot animation for my Wiko Rainbow 4G.
It works perfectly.
I have one question though... There is by default no boot sound on that phone,is it somehow possible to add one?

Yes u can use any bootanimation which has boot sound already.... Open that zip.... And edit it according to need...easy way....
Hope this helps.
Do you maybe have a link to one ?
EDIT:
By the way,if i need to move some stuff (ex: the mp3 sound) to the system/media folder then i'm screwed because i can't move any file with root explorer to that folder : /
(Yes i have root and already tried to install an SD Card Xposed module, but it still doesnt work)
Use es explorer and enable root explorer and click on the button /option there u find options one of them is mount r/w click on it and set root or system to write mode... DONE..
Xperia z lollipop bootanimation has sound..search it...
If u not find ask me i will upload it later...
Nope,can't find that boot animation.

you could. but make sure it has the right resolution for your phone. Not quite sure what happens when you used low or oversized res bootanims. and make sure its named bottanimation.zip
System is write protected. we can only read or delete files on system but won't replace ir change it. Maybe your device not boot if you do this.
If you just remove the animation from the system, the system will boot as Android.
Definitely don't try to replace the animation with another one when the system is running. If there was a bootlop, you would have no way to fix it.
You can safely replace the animation only in recovery, in case of a bootlop you can put it back in recovery. If recovery allows you to exchange.

I'll just wait for any pros to do it first... Thanks a lot for your warning.

Yes, sadly Magisk is the only feasible way to do it with A/B device, or build the rom, at least the /system image, by ourself with other bootanim
the bootanimation.zip file is present at system/product/media
also, you will find another bootanimation.zip in product/media
