I got the Motorola update to android 11 and successfully installed it. When I tried to install magisk after patching my boot.img, I think I've hard bricked the phone.
I'm unable to turn on the screen.. tried just the power button, vol- and power, vol+ and power.. no dice.
anyone know of other things I can try to get in to fastboot and reset the device? or is it a lost cause?
I flashed the patched boot.img from fastboot. when the phone screen was stuck at the motorola logo. I went back to fastboot and flashed the stock boot.img. It boot looped a couple of time and now it won't turn on at all.
Using the rescue tool is of no help because the tool requires the device to boot into fastboot
Help!
Try this. Hopefully you can get to the bootloader. If yes, continue with my suggestion below.
I guess you go up to android 11 via OTA. In this case, you need to download the android 11 firmware matching your phone, then extract the boot.img which you will flash back to your device. Hopefully, you can reboot to your phone as normal.
When patching the boot.img using the latest magisk, remember not to change the patched file name given by magisk. Just keep it as is as provided by magisk. To be safe, you should test a single boot with the patched image before flashing it.
Hope that'll help.

Thanks.. I cannot get the phone to power on at all.. so, no bootloader/fastboot. Tried power cycle while plugged in.. didn't change anything. Will keep trying.. Strangely, the rescue software's 3rd option is "power-off mode", but that option also asks me to be in fastboot.

No. I tried reinstalling the Qualcomm usb drivers. That didn't help either. Possibly that's why the rescue tool is unable to help with the power off option. Any other ideas? What ever happened, it has to do with the boot.img.
I wish phones had a reset hardware button.
Are you sure the phone is fully charged? Did you try plugging in the power for several hours?

If windows is making the device connected sound will connecting to USB, it's there somewhere.
Otherwise, it's not fixable because there is no device to send commands to.

yeah.. been googling and this was the first video that I came across. didn't help though.
EDIT - ignore the below. Just remembered that is a snapdragon and not Mediatek.
When I leave the phone connected to my windows 10 laptop, the device shows up occasionally under networks. Double clicking the device pulls up the properties.
Looks like there's still some "life" on my phone. Anyone have ideas on how to get into it?

This tutorial is for the LG L5 II (E455/E460) and shall work on other LG phones too.
Many thanks to @iulykenoby who discovered this method.
To start, download a KDZ firmware for your LG E460 (and other phones) from here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php
Be sure to match the phone with the right kdz!!!
1. Download LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix.ZIP (attached)
2. Download USB Driver http://algmcdn.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
If you can't boot anymore, enter into download/emergency mode and skip to step 5.
3. Put your phone in debugging mode (menu-Settings-Developer options-USB debugging).
4. Change your usb connection type to LG Software (menu-Settings-USB connection type)
5. Connect your phone to the PC and install USB Driver. After the installation disconnect and connect your phone again (to make sure it is detected).
6. Extract LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix.ZIP
7. Run B2CAppSetup.exe and let it install and update itself. You may be prompted to update your drivers.
8. If you've done everything correctly, you should see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
9. Close the official LG Mobile Support Tool.
10. Open Notepad in Administrator mode. (Go to windows menu, type notepad and right-click and run in Administrator mode)
11. Open the hosts file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc)
12. Add 127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com at the end of the host file.
13. Save the file. If the "Save as" dialog opens, it means you're not running notepad in administrator mode and you can't modify the hosts file.
14. Go to windows menu, type cmd and right-click and run in Administrator mode.
15. Drag Automatic Offline Procedure.vbs over command prompt and hit enter.
16. Click OK
17. Click on windows enable icon in system tray to turn ON then click the dialog box OK.
18. Click Ok.
19. Make sure Type is set to 3GQCT and phone mode to DIAG. Select your KDZ file and click Normal web upgrade test.
20. Click on Upgrade Start.
21. Click on Clear phone Software update Registry and then click OK.
22. Software Update Procedure will start immediately. It will take some time to finish.
After the flashing procedure, don't forget to delete that line you added in hosts or else you won't be able to officialy update (online) your phone and you won't be able to download anything from lg. Also, a factory reset may be needed after flashing to avoid conflicts with the old app data.

Try booting again in upload mode. If I remember right it's: phone off and both volume keys pressed then introduce the usb cable. if you manage to boot in download mode, you can try to flash again. you surely didn't select the right kdz for your phone. be sure of your phone model and search for the right kdz for your phone. If you can boot in download mode nothing is lost, you can fix it.

For root, the attached file should work (change it's extension from .zip to .exe). Instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2337802
it will root with a chineese tool, but there you'll also find instructions to change it to supersu/superuser.

you can flash any firmware from any country as long as it is for your phone model. i recommend you flash a firmware that's not branded (for ex branded by orange) so you won't have extra software that will slow down your phone. on that website you will find firmwares for many phones. our phone (e460) received an update, that's why they are called "a" "b" "c".

Mircea,
I dont use or trust online scanners I prefer to use IDA and other tools to examine software. If you examine the software more closely you will find that it sends your PC information back to the author. It will also do an update check and install of the latest version automatically. It will also install an apk for a chinese file sharing site and multiple other files that he leaves in the phones system. I also rooted a test phone and it did root perfectly. I was not trying to scare people just give a little warning to be cautious when you install a program that has a primary interface language is not yours. I had no ill intentions just trying to make people aware of what I had found.

Yes, it installs a chineese apk because that's the root application (just like superuser). After installing supersu and deleting the chineese apk I scanned my phone with bitdefender and avg and found no malware.
You also can disable your internet before installing vroot on your computer, root your phone then uninstall it. Then you can scan your computer with any antivrus and antispyware software you want and you won't find a trace of Vroot. Before saying it's full of malware, you should prove it. I just proved with 43 antiviruses that it has no malware and all you're saying is you don't trust them. I also offered a solution to avoid sending information about your computer, IF that was the case. Also, using a sandbox just like you said is also ok.

Hi, together.
I have a snopow m8 ( it's a device with mtk6589 ). I've tried to port Star N9500's rom ( miui v5 4.5.9 ). It's all ok, unless a little problem. In this device there are three buttons: SOS, PTT and Torch. Now, the device not detected these buttons. I replaced the usr folder but nothing. Thanks a lot. I entrust to you.
PS: sorry for my english.
Hi
What recovery tool did you use to backup your stock ROM and install new one? CWM? Can you please upload file?
What tutorial have you followed to adapt MIUI?
I want to experiment with this phone too. I have 20140405 ROM and it has TONS of issues - from broken OTA updated, crappy GPS EPO servers, not working YouTube, NFC doing kernel stack errors to frequent self restarts. I saw that 20140624 is available on www*needrom*com/mobile/snopow-m8 but MIUI also looks interesting,

I think you should first debug if: those buttons do not send events OR events are not associated with any action/application. In ADB shell run...
Code:
getevent -lt /dev/input/event0
...and press flashlight button. On stock ROM system reports received event:
Code:
[1405204621.434233] EV_KEY 00fc DOWN
[1405204621.434242] EV_SYN SYN_REPORT 00000000
[1405204621.583587] EV_KEY 00fc UP
[1405204621.583590] EV_SYN SYN_REPORT 00000000
Now if you have the same result in MIUI then pressed key is recognised but system doesn't know what to do with it. In that case simply use tool such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 to associate hardware key event with app.

I gave up on YouTube app - no one knows how to get it working...
I removed whole app and I'm watching YT through Opera - works perfectly.
The phone is totally not worth the price. The amount of software bugs - broken OTA, broken NFC, Google apps problems, frequent restarts, NVRAM issues, EPO fails, and so on - is incredible.
BTW: Which ROM version do you have?
I've tried to port the rom MIUI for Star N9500 and my Snopow is totally brick now... When the touch interface installation of MIUI appeared, it ask me too choose my screen drivers. I select all because i didn't knew anyone choose. After a successful installation, i wiped the cache and reboot. Now i don't see anything but many horizontal stripes... And there's no more recovery. help :crying:

yes I've the same result. Now? Witch app I use for to do this?
Alright. My current phone I was using broke (screen cracked) and I decided to use my old phone, the Droid Razr to get me by until I get a new phone. My Razr was previously rooted on JB when I left it a few years back. It works fine, except it was running slow. It had bootstrap and Safestrap installed. I'm pretty sure at the original time of getting JB on the razr, you had to use bootstrap first and then switch to Safestrap since its safer? However, I forgot this at the time. I wanted to try clearing the cache on the phone to see if it sped it up. However, I guess I uninstalled safestrap and switched it to bootstrap because i used the bootstrap recovery out of ignorance. When I turn on the phone, I get the "Encryption Unsuccessful" message.
I've tried doing the format option it gives but it just restarts the same every time. I've done some researching and it appears I've soft bricked it. I've been reading that the only way to fix it is by using fastboot to wipe the phone to factory settings. I have all the necessary files to do so. I've been working on this for about two days now. However, fastboot does not seem to recognize my phone. I have the drivers installed. When I plug it in normally when it is not in fastboot mode, my PC shows the XT912 under hardware plugged in via USB. But when I put it in fastboot mode, it does not recognize it and it isn't shown in my ADB devices list. What do I do here? I really need this phone to work and I am willing to do whatever it takes to it. I don't care if I have to wipe it/lose root any of that. Please help me. Im not one to make threads of issues that others have but no one elses thread has helped me.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using Windows 8.1. I did what you asked, and when I turned my phone on after re-installing the drivers, it installed the device normally. It shows this in device manager.

I did this over a 2 day period on and off at my office and Im not there now so I hope I didnt forget an important detail.
Ok here is my recollection. D/L the flash tool found here, https://userscloud.com/kb6tr3bcuecr and install it.
In the folders that are created by installing Flash tool there will be a driver folder. Click or select the first two, all the common drivers, and the one for Sony z3 and install them. I did this on a Win7 machine and is asked me numerous times if I wanted to allow drivers to be installed during that process, say yes and finally it will allow you to click finish.
click on the xperifirm icon and download the ftf Look under the Z3/Z3v Leo for the US flag D6708 z3v. Look for 23.1.D.0.509 /R4C. You will see this Pop up

Im not exactly sure where it lands but the Flash tool knows where to find it.
When the download finishes. Close the download window and close the Xperifirm FTF locater
Make sure your phone has USB debugging and allow mock locations selected.
Plug in your phone and watch it for a message to allow the connection and allow it.
Soon after that a dropdown list will appear with device #s and names. There is NO Z3v so select #D66XX series. The box will close on its own.
Click the flash lighting bolt top left icon.
It will ask what mode, I had to use Flashmode for it to work, I think thats the default choice anyway.
It will ask if you want to name the device Z3, I said yes.
this window will pop up, I selected wipe cache only, just for the hell of it I clicked on the D6708 line then clicked Flash on the lower right
Now it took a little time for it to process the download then a screen pops up and says Unplug the phone, Power it down, Press the back button and plug it back in. That is not correct for our phones since the back button does not show when the device is shut down. Follow it but substitute the back button for holding the volume down button then plug in the USB.
That process will put the phone into flash mode and the screen will start indicating your process. It will say dont unplug the usb but if flash tool is not running codes in the window its ok to do it.
The first time I did it I got a driver error in the flash tool but noticed on my screen windows was installing a driver for the phone so I unplugged it and held the volume down, plugged it in again and Pop, data started flying on the flash tool screen. It took about 8 minutes to flash and once I unplugged it sat at the Verizon boot screen for a while then it said Android is optimizing xx of 388 apps and I was in the clear.
If you feel you have to disable driver signing the easiest way is the restart your Win 7 computer and right after the Dell or what ever you have logo comes on the screen rapidly tap the F8 key to get to the blue boot mode and arrow down to disable signing, it will only do it for that 1 time and the machine will restart. Im not sure if thats what was holding me up because I did that and added all those drivers I listed above at the same time. You many not have to disable signing.
Let me know if this makes it any easier for you. I hope to Finally give back to this community thats given me so much over the years.
Can I flash this over rooted v4.4.4 without losing root?

You will lose root if you flash a stock rom. To keep it, you have to make yourself a prerooted Lollipop rom. Or, you could flash the one I made myself in the Android Development boards for the Z3v.

I am running Windows 10, after installing the flashtool i dont see any folders just the program itself. already try my search bar
Sorry I dont have any Win 10 machines in my world
Im not sure you have to install the drivers with Win 10, try to run the process without them and see. The worst that can happen is the flash fails telling you missing drivers

Bobby is using Windows 7 and I don't have a machine with it or 8.1 any longer. Windows 10 x64 did not require any driver signing through any of my update processes or with 0.9.18.6 so I can't help.
Gave thanks to Bobby! Finally flashed to 5.0.2.
There is something important to note for Windows 8, you have to disable driver signature for the phone drivers to install. Only difference.
Phone is running like a champ working hard to update everything that was abandoned in 4.4.4
Just a heads-up I use textra for my messaging app and when I open a message from the lock screen alert the keyboard will not Swype, I have to tap the keys unless I close the message and open it in the app. Only thing I can find wrong so far
thank u sooooooo
Did it work for you moody

Hi All,
Last week, my phone suddenly dead when I woke up in the morning. It stuck at Mi logo and only can access to Fastboot mode.
I have searched many threads and none of them helps.
I tried to use Mi flash but it said "error FAILED (remote: Partition flashing is not allowed)", I knew this is related the bootloader issue.
Then, I tried to unlock the bootloader but Mi Unlock said "couldn't unlock please add your account in miui" settings" after verify the phone.
The problem is I cannot turn on the device properly, how can i access the settings in the phone.
I don't mind to wipe all data but want to get the phone works as a spare device for me.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.:highfive:

If you are in original MIUI rom and if your bootloader is locked there is no reason your rom would be broken like the way you are describing. however even your EDL mode flashing didn't work so I think there might be hardware problem in your device...
