I wonder how these magnetic lens would work on the G1? Hope the magnet is not enough to mess with the compass.

Since cases with tiny magnets seems to goof things up, I for one, am not willing to risk it. Nice idea though...

That would be really cool!!! Order one and let us know if it works
Ordered these last week, still waiting for them to arrive. Planning to mount the magnet on some extra zagg shielding I have, so I can easily remove it if it turns out to mess with the compass or the lenses don't work well. Will post pics and a review when I've got them!

Are they serious? The size of that thing alone makes me think you'd be better off carrying a nice compact Point 'n' Shoot camera.
So, got my lenses today, and I really like them! One problem, I had ordered a telephoto, fisheye, and macro, and GOT two telephoto and a macro. I've emailed them about the problem, and will see what comes of it. I think these are going to be really fun to have on hand. They each came with a magnetic back cover, and a plastic snap on front cover. The back cover has a little cord loop, so it can be attached to a keychain, zipper pull, or whatever.
The lenses do make a clear difference in photographs. I've attached some pics I took with the macro lens. I'll upload telephoto pics tomorrow, as I'm at work and forgot the telephoto lens!
So, the question is now that you have your lens...Does it mess with the phones magnetic compass?
Photo's
The pic w/o macro looks better. Macro is reserved for extreme close-ups so maybe that has something to do with the quality of your photo. Does the snap-on case make any mention of shielding by the way?

So I got a reply to my email about the order being shipped wrong in about 43 hours from sending the email, which is pretty good, I sent the email at 10am on Saturday, and got a reply at 5 am on Monday. They're say they're shipping me the missing lens, with no mention of charging me anything, or even of sending them back the second telephoto lens I got. So, I'm pretty impressed by that, and if they do manage to get it right the second time, I'll be quite happy with the purchase and the customer service experience. Also, each lens came with two of the little metal rings you stick on whatever you want to use the lens with, which I liked. It means I can have my cell phone, webcam, and partner's cell phone all set up to use the lenses, and still have 4 rings left over for use on future items. I also got a cradle with second battery slot, and a spare battery from USBFever, and am very happy with that as well. I ordered on the 7th, and my order arrived from Hong Kong on the 17th. And as a bonus, my order arrived as a brown paper package tied up with string, prompting my roommate who brought the package in, myself, and my partner to all start singing These Are A Few of My Favorite Things.

Turns out, that wasn't the macro lens, it was the wide angle lens. One lens does both, it unscrews for macro. The macro is great, it lets you do insane closeups that the camera by itself won't even focus for. I can't do a comparison shot for the camera with and without the macro, cos without the macro, the camera won't focus at such close range! Attached the various test shots, all properly labeled this time, plus shots of the macro/wide angle lens assembled and apart. The telephoto, regular, and wide angle were all taken from the same distance/position (well, I might have moved a tiny bit switching out the lenses, but close enough!).

It does seem to mess with the compass, yeah, but only when the lens is actually on. There's a little metal ring with a sticky backing that you put on the phone to stick the lens to, and the little metal ring by itself does NOT mess with the compass. So, the compass is only messed with when the lens is actually on. I consider this to be acceptable, if I need to use the compass, I just take the lens off and drop it into my pocket or backpack.

Only issue I see with that then is if the photo gps data relies on magnetic compass for tagging info. Haven't looked at the tag on the photos if it records a magnetic facing or not. Otherwise if no permanent compass problems, guess I am ordering some.
Ok, the fisheye lens arrived today. My overall experience with usbfever was definitely a positive one. Yeah, they made a mistake in the initial order, shipping me two telephoto lenses and no fisheye lens, but they were quick to rectify the problem. I had a reply to my email about the problem quickly, and the postmark on the replacement lens indicates it was shipped the day they replied to my email about the problem, and without charging me so much as an extra penny! They didn't even ask for the extra telephoto lens back! I'd call that top notch customer service. I've attached a couple pictures, one taken with the fisheye lens, the same shot taken just normally, and a picture of all three lenses (with a usb cable shown for sizing and cos it happened to be right there). It's a bit dark cos of the lighting in the room the pics were taken in.
be VERY VERY careful with magnets, they can permenantly **** up compasses with ease. you might not notice anything now, but repeted exposure WILL do damage in the long run.

I'm not seeing anything on google to support this, and don't remember any such info from various how magnets/compasses work lessons in school or scouting. (Tho it has been a while, so maybe I'm forgetting.)
I do remember being told in scouts that a quick and easy way to calibrate a misaligned compass was to run a strong magnet around it in a full circle, clockwise&counterclockwise. This was supposed to properly magnetize the compass and allow the compass to align to the earth's magnetic fields to an acceptable accurate degree for general navigation.
i didn't know you could re-calibrate a compass, thats handy to know. but i know for a fact a magnet can pretty much break a compass, i've done it before, but if it can be re-alligned i guess theres not much to worry about.
just out of curiosity, what kind of compass does the G1 use?
G1 Phone Telescope
i was just browsing a site full of electronics and gadgets and what not and came across this:
http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03926&cat_id=1180&dept_id=017
the images of it say one thing but the quality of the shown pictures taken with the telescope is pretty nice... how real they are is another question... what do you guys think?
i know if i saw some dude on the street with a scope like that on his G1, i would think cia or something. and i can get it for $17? sweet! but i will wait for reviews. lol.
I saw those on ebay for under $10. My guess is they are about the same quality at a $10 kids toy microscope.. all plastic with junk plastic lenses.. but who wants to carry one of those around? Just set a few feet closer and take the picture.

lol hells yea dude. reminds me of the cheap telescope's you'd find in a happy meal back in the day when disney didnt own happy meals lol
I found one on e-bay for $13 shipped. I'm a photo nerd and I like toy cameras... so I'm gonna take the plunge.
My camera's lens is all scratched up. No wonder I get lines when shooting lights @ night. Anybody else have this problem?
Is there anyway to replace the outside lens of the camera?
I believe you have to replace whole camera. I recommend a case so the camera doesn't get scratched by surfaces

I've had a case on it since day one and It's been like this since I got the camera. I just looked at the first set of night time pics I took and they show the lines on point sources as well. So It must have come like that. I've had the phone for almost 2 months now. I wonder if I should call LG.
I found this on ebay. I need one myself but i can't order it till my move on the 7th. good luck!

After you get a news lense, buy this -
LG V10 Camera Lense Skin 5 pack
you have a choice of what is posted in post 4, the whole mid case or get the lens from a dummy phone, you can also get some glass protector for more protection after you change the plastic len
I also have this problem. For me it looks not like scratches but more like problem with the coating (it looks like a smudge). It causes more flare in the upper left corner when you shoot at very bright targets (like street lamps). Otherwise it does not seem to affect sharpness or detail in this area (i also tested with daylight shots). I also ordered the replacement part listed in post 4 but it will take at least 2 weeks to come from china. I have one question - if somebody did the change - did this affect the picture quality negatively? Is this comparable with the original part quality wise?
Is your camera lens dust free?
If I look closely, there is some dirt/dust on the lens under the outer glass. It luckily, as I can see, doesnt affect picture quality. But, I would think, if it worsen it will lead to soft or hazy pictures. I have not tested it in all kinds of lighting.
Background: My s6Edge was fixed under warranty three months ago after burnt USB port with fast charger(...). They also changed the front glass in this procedure (teck broke it opening phone?). Anyway; I dont know if this is the root of the problem, but could be its not sealed as it should.
If its an usual problem with the S6 , I wont mind for now.
I saw some Ifixit guides were you could just replace the lens glass, without opening the phone. Then the lens could be cleaned. I would do this if it doesn`t affect the warranty, should other issues arise (Knowing galaxy line from s3-s6, it will).
Any advise/experience with this problem?
So I ran my f1 without any covers because none were available where I live when I first bought it and the free is get disgustingly dirty after minimal use. I was going down a slope and the phone fell from jackets pocket and got dragged 4 meters down on the concrete. The Plastic back is completely annihilated and the upper part of the camera lens is broken. the camera still takes photos but they all have fogginess in them. the side got damaged but the screen is intact.
is it possible to get a replacement for the damaged part? at least for the back. And is it better to try and do it myself (I have some experience) or find a way to send it to an official branch for them to do it? I bought it from a 3rd party online retailer so I doubt the warranty will have any weight here.
yes.there are many videos showing how to do it on youtube

I'm yet to see anything about replacing the camera lens, I could replace the entire model I guess but that'll probably cost a ton.

You can try this.
you can replace the housing easily.
downside is, you cant find a rear housing with the flash cover ..almost all of them on aliexpress, ebay, gearbest DO NOT have the flash cover. they have camera lens cover, but not the flash cover which is kinda strange.
