Update FW .69 to .314

my xperia Z2 D6503, has build number 17.1.A.2.69, unlocked bootloader, and rooted
im planning to update it to .314, how can i do this? is it ok to update (.314) at sony pc companion? i know my root will be lost, so i should re-root again, no problem for me. but updating in pc companion with my rooted .69, should there be no problems at all?
i have a backed up rom (.69) with nut dual recovery, if any problems can i boot again in recovery? im thinking because root will be lost, recovery should also be lost.
or
can i flash new roms here like aroma? or any modded roms, i believe this roms are from build .314, from stock .69?
i read about flashing this customs rom, but other requires that the base roms should be .314
im so sorry if i have lots of questions, and im reading all the facts here in forum about Z2, im just careful enough not to mess up my Z2. i had xperia Z before and done lots of flashing new roms and root, but just to be careful with my Z2..
thanks in advance for any kind of info/replies.

the easiest way to do this is to use flashtool and a FTF
just simply exclude Data
i dont think you can flash across stock based rom versions without data wipe, it hasnt worked any time i tried, i used flashtool instead
- do i need to explain how to do this?

FTF

Flashtool

a million thanks
thank you very much.. this is a big info on me..
If you are rooted & bootloader unlocked then OTA update & PC companion updates will fail with modified software error message.
Like Envious_Data said you would need to use FlashTool & untick data in the wipe options to keep your data, you will lose root & the dual recoveries but you can easily use EasyRoot to root again then use the installer version of [NUT] dual recoveries.
I had some issues with SuperUser with data wipe unticked so ended up doing full wipe in FlashTool.
Good luck
use flashtool is very fast...
cant see the firmware on flashtool
i had downloaded the stock rom .314 RU, from the given list of Stock Roms on that page, the file is in Zip, when i moved the zip file on flashtool/firmware i cant see the ftf file. all i see is Device: X10, Version: V1, Branding: BLRelock
am i doing wrong?
If the FTF file is in a zip or rar archive file then you will need to extract it first, open the zip file & if there is one file in it with FTF extension then drag it from the zip to the firmwares folder in flashtool.
eg if you have installed flashtool to program files directory in windows open the zip file then browse to the flashtool\firmwares folder & then drag the zip file to the firmwares folder, it should then appear in flashtool when you click the flash button, just make sure you select the firmware FTF file & NOT the X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf file.
Thanks for the Help Guys
Thank you very much
Im now updated to .314 and searching for an update to .402
the one i downloaded zip file has no ftf extension, i think its a stock rom in rar file and is installable in recovery mode, so i search and find a file w/c is in unbranded-Australia with ftf extension
im now rooted in .314 and searches for a good ROM for my Z2
Again. Thanks for the help Guys... You're all the best. :good: :good:

Upgrading to Oreo with unlocked bootloader

Hi guys, I hope someone can answer my questions.
I have an xperia X on android 7.1.1 with stock Rom and kernel, root and unlocked bootloader, I used the dirtycow script to backup the TA partition and then used the TA poc tool to make a boot.img with drm. I did this in September and now that Oreo is rolling out I would like to upgrade but I lost my TA backup, I only have the boot.img created. My question is, can I just upgrade to Oreo with flashtool or I will lose my drm? There is a way to extract them from the boot.img I still have?
Hi,
if you upgrade through FlashTool it will replace your boot.img with the one which is included in FTF file you are flashing.
IDK if you can extract TA from boot.img but definitely you should contact the author of program / script that you used for adding TA to boot.img if there is reverse way.
Keep your boot.img safe before you upgrade.
You can at least use DRM fix which isn't 100% replacement if you haven't flashed TA as DK but Bravia engine and no noise should work with that.

Unable to flash stock DRM RESTORE

Hello dev
My xperia Z2 was rooted and running on Lineage 15 unofficial also rooted by magisk. My wish was i want to restore my original ta backup to my device and i tried with this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz/how-to/how-to-unlock-bl-kernel-twrp-root-t3541648 after this bootloader is locked and device is brick.
Now device functions as only flash mode but unable to flash stock please help
First of all you have a z2 and you are following a guide of XZ.You should have used this guide as it is much more simple https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598. Secondly when did you restore the ta backup were you on stock rom or lineage os 15? and if you were on lineage then it would brick as phone would not let another kernal boot. Make sure all drivers are installed and flash stock ftf using flashtool available at xda for z2. If flash tool is giving an error please tell
Hi thanks for reply yes I was on lineage, but the thing is that now in this situation flashtool able unlock boot loader again in flash mode but not flashing stock also fastboot is not working please give a solution

About firmware and rooting

Hello everyone, I get a Sony Xperia X F1521 it comes with Android Oreo 8.0 but I feel that the battery gets drained so fast
So I want to ask, which is the best Android version for this phone overall (by your experience)
-Battery
-Performance
-Camera Quality
And i want to ask something else
Do you suggest me unlock the bootloader? I read about the DRM-Keys and I understand that can be restored from a previous backup
Thanks in advance

lets save drm keys first
from flashtool, goto xperifirm , goto 2016 devices , suzu , and download "Commercial and Journalist" version (thats ANDROID 6) , click on that and download, ONCE download is finished (takes our on good connection) , CLOSE download window, close XPERIFIRM and FLASHTOOL will start creating FTF bundle for you AUTOMATICALLY, if any thing asked in POPUP dialog box, click affirmative (YES / OK ). once bundle is done then
download 31.4.2.107 ( released yesterday), by flashtool , xperifirm AGAIN, this time you can take GERMANY as they always get the latest! ... repeat process till flashtool create bundle for you
you can delete 6gb of downloaded files at C:\Users\<user>\.flashTool\firmwares\Downloads
flash android 6 , extract DRMKEYS by UniversalTAbackupScript (AKA DirtyCow Script) from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/universal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236
once TA.img is Extracted, you are ready to unlock your bootloader.
https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/
remember, unlocking BL will Delete/wipe all data from your device
once unlocked, flash latest Frimware ( or you can flash firmware BEFORE unlocking bootloader)
for rooting access, flash kernel, flash twrp and from twrp flash DRMfix.zip and Magisk, then Reboot!

digital rights management (DRM) keys is unique keys that can be saved / extracted from few of the xperia devices
1. you are more likely to NEVER use them , its used only if ONE DAY YOU WANA RELOCK your BOOTLOADER!
2. NEVER FLASH THESE KEYS via ANY RECOVERY (twrp) ,
3. Just keep them saved on cloud for some day! if you need!
4. there is separate process to re-instate these keys!

Flash 802SO without losing drm and unlocking the bootloader?

I'm trying to flash over to an official firmware so that I can use android 11. Softbank isn't going to bother updating to it. Flashtool keeps getting stuck and telling me that I need an unlocked bootloader. How did you guys manage to do this?
I get stuck at "sending getvar product" every time. or I get an error after parsing boot delivery. I've tried many different firmwares from xperifirm with no luck.
I figured it out myself. I used newflasher. For anyone running into the same problem as me, extract the exe only for newflasher into the folder you downloaded from xperifirm. Delete the simlock.ta file and then flash. Flashtool doesn't seem to work with the 802SO and a locked bootloader.
