Share pic/video crashes gallery - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi all.
Model LYA-09
O/S build: 11.0.0.138(C34E4R1P4)
EMUI: 11.0.0
Android Version: 10
When I choose any picture of video in my gallery (doesn't matter what album I am in), as soon as I press the "Share" button, the screen goes white and I'm taken back to the gallery home screen showing all my albums.
I can share media from within apps (Whatsapp, Messenger, Signal etc) but not from the gallery.
I have tried clearing cache from gallery app.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Clear cache from gallery app. Reset the app.
That's it

Thanks. I have cleared cache and cleared data - same result.
Is that what you mean by "Reset the app"?
Cheers

It doesn't. Now it doesn't just give me a white screen and take me back to the gallery home page, but gallery crashes and takes me back to the main phone home screen....

Anyone else able to help? I've tried uninstalling Messenger, Facebook, Signal, Whatsapp, all the apps I would usually use to share media with - still crashes my Gallery app when I press the Share button.

Please try any other third party Gallery App from play store. (temp solution)

I have just downloaded another Gallery app - same result - as soon as I go into a photo or video and then press the Share button - it crashes and takes me back to the root of the Gallery.....

It's not just Gallery - even in Adobe Acrobat Reader app with a PDF, if I want to 'share a copy' - it crashes the app.

REQ: Youtube.apk

Can someone please post or point me in the direction of a working youtube.apk that supports HD on the Nook color. I've tried three versions, two didn't work and one was shrunken screen. THanks
hello, I have the same problem. You tube works in hd but at a reduced screen size.
Almost like the apk was written for a phone.probably.
First post! Woooot!!
Gingerbread version of Youtube worked for me.
this is the version from here, and it worked for me:

Is there a reason my videos don't play? I tried to reinstall youtube and it didn't fix it

I haven't had any trouble playing videos... Ensure that the videos you are trying to play are formatted/available for mobile, some aren't. But, that's probably not the issue. Some people have been having issues with YouTube not working when signed in, but usually the entire app doesn't work.
If all else fails, you can always use the Erase option in the menu, then re-root and try again. I've done that like 30 times now.

I have performed all rooting procedures and everything is working perfectly except YouTube. I click the app and it just goes straight to the homescreen. I tried removing the youtube app and reinstalling it and it still does the same thing.
Any ideas to fix this?

I am getting the same issue. Everything else works..except YouTube. I tried re-rooting but that does not work either. Any way clear data on the youtube apk? Is there an intent to get to the applications settings?

I posted this in another thread, but:
You do not need to uninstall YouTube. It is crashing because it is still linked to your gmail account, as a hack to get all of the other Google apps working. If you disassociate YouTube from your gmail account, YouTube will once again work!
From the Market, download Titanium Backup (Free in the Market)... You may already have it installed, if so, skip this part.
Open up Titanium Backup, it will likely ask for Superuser permissions. Grant it.
If you get a Busybox error, install Busybox from the Market.
Click on the second tab at the top of Titanium, named 'Backup/Restore', and let it populate all of your apps
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the YouTube app
You'll get a dialog box. Click on the 'Wipe Data' button
Just close Titanium Backup, and you're done. YouTube will work, now that you cleared your user data.

I found a way around it. I knew it would work and it did.
Download ES File Explorer from the Android Market.
Open the ES File Explorer
Access the App Manager by clicking Manager from its Menu options.
Hold on the YouTube app from the list of apps for a few seconds and click the Details option.
Voila! This should get you into the Application Info for the app.
Clear data, clear cache, Force stop and you will be good to go!
Thanks for this solution it fixed my youtube closing issue

Sent from my NookColor using XDA app
Once it's working again, don't sign in the next time you use youTube or sign out before quitting YouTube. If you remain signed in, the same thing will happen again next time you try to start YouTube.

Lost the option to choose youtube app, on youtube link

So anybody know how to fix this?
also does somebody got a android 101 for flashing roms and such things?
Maybe try clearing defaults? That would be my only guess
Clear defaults in the manage apps menu.
Supra RCMix Shooter
cant find that option.
well i found it but it is not clickable.
The clear defaults button is grayed out on mine for YouTube, streaming media player, and internet browser. My only thought would be to uninstall and reinstall the youtube app. The link should come up tho, is it a specific video or it never gives you the option?
Actually, I noticed they either launch directly in the youtube app as well, unless they're embedded in the webpage. Even then, clicking on "watch on YouTube" gives me two options, internet and YouTube. Clicking internet opens the youtube page, and clicking play there just opens up my YouTube app anyways. So I don't think you're missing much.

You have to clear the defaults for whichever application automatically opens up when you click the link. You might have already checked that out, I just wanted to clarify in case.
I believe you would actually need to clear defaults for the browser, not the YouTube app as some have tried... If that doesn't work, as suggested, uninstalling and reinstalling YouTube will reset it also.

Facebook and YouTube

Hi, I use the facebook app and when clicking on a youtube video I used to ask me to either open it via youtube app or internet, but now it does not ask anymore and just opens the videos via internet. Where can I go to have it ask again, and choose youtube?
home>menu>settings>applications>manage applications
find internet and tap it
tap clear defaults

Thanks, tried that , however the button is grayed out, looks like its not set for any default. Dont know why I would get the prompt to choose which way to view the video in the past.
exactly the same prob on my phone. but i think its something to do with the facebook app after it was updated. coz i have the same prob on my x10 also.

I suggest you try delete youtube from settings/manage applications, then pull battery and reinstall it from market again.
Worth a shot!
Good luck!
Did you try clearing the data and cache?
How do i clear the data and the cash?
Ok I found the solution. There is an app for managing the data. that seemed to work. Thanks guys!

And data?
was this ever figured out? I have an Acer iconia a500, exact same issue
I have the same issue it just randomly started but only with videos from my account like subscriptions i can search n play random videos only.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I have the same issue too. And if you read the reviews in the market, it seems like a lot of other people are having the same issue.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using XDA Premium App
This started today on my A500. I have cleared cache and data from the app. Then I did a factory restart. As soon as I click on the youtube app it brings up the thumbnails of the videos. Clicking any video brings up the "stopped unexpectedly" error. This happens if I am logged in or not.
I didn't install any apps last night, and previously I used the A500 to watch a lot of YouTube videos.
Its a known issue that Youtube would be FCing now. Hopefully it will be fixed or an update will come our way.
well Im glad I Google this... been busy the past few days, come back to watch some vids, and my a500's YouTube FCs when I click any did. I was kinda fre#king out, thought my tab was broken or something
My phone's YT works fine tho
Deleted as posted in wrong section sorry

Question Help with Google news feed

Hey everyone. I wasn't able to find a fix online so I figured I'd ask the experts on XDA.
Issue: 1- When I click on an article on my Google feed nothing happens.
2- When I use Google search and click one of the results nothing happens.
Chrome works, Samsung Internet works, and Edge works.
What I've tried: Deleting the storage on the Google app. No dice.
I don't have the same issue on my old S22 Ultra or my Tab S7 Plus.
Has anyone seen this before?
Any help would be appreciated.
Shot in the dark, but do you maybe not have a default internet browser selected? Or did it default to something else somehow that can't open a link? Can you open links from other apps? You could install duckduckgo and see if it'll open in that one maybe.
I would just uninstall Chrome and Google News and just start over.

No dice. But I love duckduckgo thanks for recommending it.
Google news do not use external browser sadly, it needs webview. Try to clear the cache and data from webview app or update it.

My Google News app works just fine. It's the feed all the way to the left of my launcher that's messed up. Is that what you mean?

I literally had this myself for a week, then yesterday it suddenly started to work. When it first began I tried all the recommended stuff like clearing caches and so on, but nothing helped. I wish I could help but I myself am baffled as to how it came to work again.

What if you try to access it from Chrome homescreen ? Under the search bar, there's a "Discover" section which practically is a Google Feed. Does it work ?
Have you tried updating Google App & Android Webview manually ?
Have you allow all permissions for Google app ?

I stand corrected I lied I hadn't updated the Google App. Thought I had but I have the beta. I updated it and now it works as expected. Thanks a million. You really made my day.
