[Discussion] Battery life/Screen-On-Time contest - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Guides, News, & D

SOT-Thread
Hey guys!
This thread is for posting screenshots of your highest Screen-On-Times (SOT)!
The screenshots can be from any ROM, but it should be from one charge without any charging in between. Maybe I'll try to maintain a small leaderboard, but I can't guarantee anything.
Cheers!

These are my two best SOTs. This thread gotta start somewhere!

I got a new battery and got this massive SOT of 11h 29min! To be fair, I don't daily drive the phone right now, so there is no SIM card or Whatsapp, but the general usage of the phone was normal.
The phone is running crDroid 6 with the stock kernel.

Where did you get the battery?
By the way, I am getting 3 days and 10 hours of SOT on my spare Lenovo P2 with 90% wear level

I got the battery from Polarcells. They advertised it with a capacity of 3200mAh which obviously wasn't the case, but it had just under 3000mAh so it was still a good upgrade to my degraded battery.
I considered getting a P2 back then (~2017) but chose against buying one because they were so hard to obtain. Do you mean actually 3 days and 10 hours (82 hours) of screen-on-time or 10 hours over 3 days?

The latter. 82h SOT would be impossible.
The P2 is a beast. I think I could go 4 days without charge back in 2017.

[Q] Battery chart

To be honest i was expecting a slightly longer battery life. Judging from what people write around here their battery life is considerably longer than mine.
I was looking at battery drain chart and was wondering if there is an app or another way i can check what contributes to my phone being 'Awake' as from what i see in the chart it's awake alot. Maybe a bit too much.

Upload a pic of your percentages, that'd help a lot with seeing what your problem is and therefore how to fix it.
Oh god, stop making new threads about the battery life. Your battery life is completely normal. Theres a thread JUST like this posted like 30 mins ago, I'll take my reply off it;

Becuase your phone was in use for a lot of that time.
Normally I get 7-10 hours battery life with my semi-heavy usage.
But yesterday I tested to see if I could get more, I only used the phone for four 5 minute phone calls, tonnes of texts, a little bit of web browsing and a little bit of youtube on 3G and wifi. No games or anything, and the battery still had 40% left after 20 1/2 hours.
But with my normal usage as i said, I get 7 - 10 hours.

long story short. Your battery life is COMPLETELY normal.

Extended battery support

Is there nay kernels that support an extended battery im not even sure if there is an official eb like there was for the HD2
But from previous experience with my HD2 the extended battery worked but drained to 15% as normal but stayed at 15% for another 7 hrs

this sounds like an issue that may be saved in the battery cache in the overall set up... when installing the new extended battery try booting into recovery and clearing the batte3ry cache then booting into your rom

Sorry i should have been clearer i haven't got an EB yet i have ordered one and am just wondering if the experience will be the same as with HD2
Or if the kernel would recognize the extended capacity

theory states yes it should recognize it... for fazct i don not know for i dont not have one....but the cache should recognize the the larger capacity considering the batteries have a separate bios nowadays
Sounds about right to me will update post when battery arrives
Well after getting THIS Battery
I fully charged it and used it through out the day and after 9 hrs i was still sitting at 75%
Now as previously mentioned on the hd2 the extended battery used to drain to 15% as normal and remain there for several hours
Ironically enough the evo seems to be the opposite it seemed to stay at 85% for a considerable amount of time but 9 hrs of use including playing some games like angry birds draw something general facebook use and some messages seems great could easily get 2 days use from a single charge and only 4.50
Makes phone a big chunky but also quite comfortable

(U30GT2) Tablet Worked Fine, Now Battery Drains In 20 Minutes

Hello. I've had a U30GT2 tablet which I picked up while on a trip in China for a great price (~$100 converted). I installed a custom 4.4.2 ROM on it and it worked perfectly for the past year and a half with no issues at all and a great battery life (7200 mAh IIRC). Two days ago however, I noticed it had died which was strange considering it was at near full that morning. After charging it to 100% (which only took 20 minutes, extremely strange) I unplugged it and used it to watch a YouTube video. Before the 23 minute video was finished, I got a low battery warning.
Rom I've been using for over a year without problems: Link
What I have tried so far:
Installed a battery monitoring app. It shows apps like Clash of Clans using 0.1% of the total battery over a 90% drain.
Factory reset the tablet, deleting all user content + apps. Problem persists.
Reflashed the ROM after formatting everything. Problem remains.
Flashed different ROM, no dice.
At this point I'm almost certain that one of the two internal batteries has gone bad and I am planning on opening the device later today, but wanted to make this post as a last-ditch effort to see if it is some rare firmware/kernel error after all.

Image of charging process:
17A @ 3.7V = ~63W. My charger is 2A @ 12V = 24W. This doesn't make sense.
Image of "real time" battery mAh drain:
40,000 mAh at 3.7v = 148W! This HAS to be an error since you CAN NOT dissipate nearly 150W without some serious active cooling.
Try checking for wakelocks using Wakelock Detector on the Play Store.

[OPX]Better Battery than before !!!!!!!

Just charge phone couple of times from 5-100%(Don't unplug in between, let it sit continuously) and you are good to go . Earlier when i got my phone a week before battery was pathetic(SOT-2.5hrs) and after a week usage and battery calibration i am getting a SOT of 5 hrs around(I can't expect more)

1)Wifi is on 24x7
2)Social Networking(Whatsapp+Hike+Instagram+Facebook)
3)Email push services( 2 Gmail accounts)
4)Browsing(Chrome)
5)6-9 calls (5mins each approx)
I am just loving it (No bugs so far except that SD card 1 which will surely get fixed in next OTA) with superb battery, design aesthetics and yeah main selling point DISPLAY
Hope it helped some lonely surfers who are still finding a way to not buy the phone. I will say don't waste time if you have an invite just grab it. In next month when One Plus will Open source it's kernel, things will be far better placed than now(Custom kernels and roms )
Great.
I am getting a SOT of 4 hours, and generally make it home with 10% left in the tank.
I charge my phone before going to bed till 100. Disconnect. Set the alarm. Goto sleep.
Wake up. Overnight drain is around 10%.
Leave for office at 8. My phone is always connected to wifi or 3G. Also both sims are active. Bluetooth always active.
No email sync. Also I have disabled most notifications except calls. The only thing syncing is Whatsapp. Location disabled.
Also disabled auto brightness.
With similar settings my moto g delivers 6 hours SOT.
So I believe OPX is just average. But still kinda expectsed.
There is a dedicated battery life discussion thread already here,

No need for multiple threads on the subject. :good:

Battery Drain on Every Android Device with different ROMs and SIM cards.

Hi,
I have an issue for over a year now. I am feeling kind of cursed. I try to explain my situation without too much detail.
I have a Honor 6 smartphone, after a few weeks my battery time got terrible. From 6h SoT (screen-on-time), I am now at ~2.5hrs on average. Since then, I have this battery draining thing on EACH phone.
I thought my phone was corrupt, so I ordered another Honor from Amazon (different model). I set up my Google account and installed WhatsApp. After a few full-charges, I was looking at my battery time: same terrible thing. People were getting ~7hrs SoT, my average was 2-3hrs.
I thought maybe Huawei made some mistakes with the Honor models, so I tried a OnePlus device. Guess what? Same issue.
I switched my network providers a few times. So it's not a SIM card related problem.
Is it possible that my Google account is somewhat "corrupt"? Because that's the only technical thing that's the same on each device.
It sounds like a conspiracy theory, that Google wants me to have bad battery life but I am serious. Could this be possible? I don't want to switch, I use many Google services (contacts, email, drive, etc)
Symptoms of my problem:
Occurs on several devices, sim cards (Austrian network providers A1, HoT, yesss), roms and android versions (from 4.4.2 to 6.0.1)
App usage of Android System is at least ~30% battery
Screen brightness around 30% auto brightness
LTE, GPS/Location, Bluetooth always disabled (I don't use these)
Battery drain while screen off: 3-5% per hour!
SoT around 50% of the values other people have (on the OnePlus I got 3hrs instead of 6, Honor devices 2.5 - 3.5 instead of 5-7)

Does anyone have a clue? I spent too much time with rooting, factory resetting, researching, etc. in the last 14 months - now I have no idea any more.
Thanks in advance!
One more thing: I use GSam Battery Monitor, BatteryBatteryStats, Wakelock Detector - and they can't "help" me.
Is there another tool, which has even more details? I don't think so, but there has to be hope
