Hi all,
I've spent hours researching and nothing so just looking for new ideas.
The last few days I've been running official SE 2.1 and today it started force-closing many apps. I restarted the phone a few times and that didn't fix it. So I restarted again to go into recovery and switch ROM. The phone switched off and won't turn on. It said it had low battery life if that's a part of it. The phone will not switch on, it will not charge with any combination of with/without SD card, SIM card etc.
1. SEUS and PC Companion will not repair it, they don't see it.
2. Laptop/PS3 don't see the phone.
3. I left the phone connected via the wall-charger for over 2 hours at two seperate occasions uninterrupted an nothing.
4. The phone shows no LED. Not even the quick-flashing red LED when the battery is extremely low.
I searched every SE site where this is discussed and no help, I've tried everything. I emailed SE and they said it would be better to send it away. I note that they charge a fee if they can't fix it. (It's within warranty though) and my phone is unlocked, debranded and shows various mods typical of users' phones from this site and the warranty says if SE find user mods they phone will void warranty. It may not switch on and neither the network or SE may find the mods which may mean I get past OK, but besides that, is there anything I can do myself? Thanks.
REPAIRED MYSELF
After hours and hours of research and effort, 5 minutes after posting this thread I fixed my phone myself. I hope though that this will help others out there. As with everything like this, especially on this site, these are user mods and frequently delicate or dangerous - you do them at your own risk, and could destroy your device or warranty. If you haven't rooted/flashed many times or don't know what they are, you do not know enough to do this. I say this to protect you, trust me.
If you take off the back cover, above and to the left there are two RUBBER coverings. I used a pin to remove the LEFT cover. You see the power connector of the phone to the battery. Use the pin, carefully and at your own risk, to remove the white part by gently pulling back and up. It's stiff so try a few times. You see 3 wires connected to the white tab. I clean the white tab and metal connector with my finger, re-attached the white tab, you must do that firmly or it won't connect, try again and again. Try the power button on the phone when you have it connected to laptop/pc/etc. and you should see the the red LED gently indicating it's slowly returning to power.
That was a hardware issue it seems?
I really don't know...I've seen other's recommend giving your phone a jump-start with a battery and connector but I couldn't find a connector, and just tried cleaning it with my thumb (no obvious cleaning needed, but I tried) and it did the job...strange. I'm sure this info. will help the next person who gets lost. It'll save time and perhaps money. And us guys around here like to fix things ourselves anyway...

Thank you very much!!!!My SE x10 mini now works properly!!!!great fix!!!!
You're welcome buddy! It's nice to be able to share advice with others!
i think, there is no need to remove back pin...
if you press home button simultaneously along with power button for few seconds phone restarts...i used to get same problem.
Hi I have been having this tablet for almost a month now. I have been experiencing when I press the power button to wake the device up, the screen won't turn on to the unlock screen. Its random but it happens to me at least 4-5 times a week. Any of you have the same issue? Is this a known issue cause I'm seriously thinking of returning this device and get an ipad instead.
I have only had my tab for a couple of weeks now, but I have had this happen to me once so far. Was slightly concerning, as I thought it had died for a moment.
EDIT: running version 3.2
Happend to me when I was still on 3.1. Update to 3.2 solved it.
my tablet came with 3.2. i have just written an email to sony. will let you guys know how it goes
happened to me three/four times in total and I had it since the launch. I used reset pin hole to fix.
Hi. I have the same problem. It can happen for 10 times a day. It's really annoying, and I don't know what to do.
Tried hard reset, but problem still remains, even when using only pre-installed programs.
Please help
Yep, I have had mine for about 2 months, never had an issue, went to go turn it on yesterday..... nothing.... so i figured the battery was dead, plugged it in.... nothing.... let it charge all night..... nothing.... tried to reset.... nothing... the light by the power button comes on when plugged in... orange charging, green ready, flashes orange when i reset it, but when i hit the power button, nothing, and the screen doesnt come on. I have had it with Sony and their piece of **** equipement, everything they have came out with since the PS3 has been junk!
I have had my tablet since it launched and this has only happened to me once. Using the reset pinhole fixed it right away. I would exchange it if this happens frequently.
After two months, this just happened to me for the first time about an hour ago... Odd. Pin hole reset fixed it.
Yeap sony suggested me to do the same it's been going ok so far. Another small issue happens to me is that it sometimes hiccup from sleep I had to press the power button twice to turn the screen on
I went to store and just ask for replacement. Now, with the new device it seems everything to be fine
The help guide is very useless yet useful for the Tab S because it says "You must access this page from your tablet." <-- It's broken, so how are we supposed to do that Sony?
But you can find a version of the help guide through loads of 404 errors, and it says prod the reset button with a paperclip (not a needle, a paperclip) and the power button will flash. Then boot up the tab like normal.
This worked for me, which is good because I thought the screen broke as I dropped my alarm clock on it. No physical damage so if I wanted to, the warranty would've covered it
I finally got my tablet back from Sony.... they said they found nothing wrong with it, but it works now, so far no issues. (this is after 2 days of me trying to get it to turn on, and about 3 hours at the store with the repair tech trying to get it to work, hence why they sent it in, and magically Sony found nothing wrong)
Try turning the screen brightness down to 98-99% and not 100% I found that worked for me
Hi guys,
I've had me evo3d from the first day it came out here, august 6th. Never had any problems at all. Until now. Srry about the novel... I've highlighted the most important parts for your convenience.
About 2 weeks ago, i dropped my phone from about 60cm, but with no apparent damage. Later that night, my battery went completely empty (not unexpected, it was a long day). Plugged it into the charger when i got home, led flashed to indicate a completely empty battery then stayed on to indicate charging, no problem. Then it stopped charging after a little while and didn't resume.
I took the phone apart so see if maybe some wire had come loose from falling. None had, but after putting it together again, it did charge again for a moment (also showed flashing leds again), and then it stopped again.
A friend of mine suggested it might be that battery's contacts, so he scratched them with a screwdriver. This actually seemed to help and everything was fine for about a week and a half.
Now trouble has started again. Taking the battery out and blowing on the contacts (NES cartridge style) worked at first, giving me about 10 minutes until it died again. But it seems to be getting worse, and by now it will only turn on or even just charge sporadically. Always flashing the led, indicating the battery is completely empty.
additional info:
It's not the rom that's faulty, as i hoped at first (re-installed an old rom after trying some ICS-goodness the day before all this started), because it also crashed in Recovery at least once. And i've already installed a diffrent rom without any success.
When it crashes, it doesn't just die instantly. Instead, it freezes for about 1/3 of a second. When it crashed in Recovery, during this freeze the text got a weird yellowish background-color and a different font color as well.. but the parts of the screen without text retained their original looks.
What else could i try to fix this? I don't know anyone with a shooter, but i've heard pyramids battery works as well, is this true? Can i try one of those to see if it's just the battery that's tripping?
Let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance!
I didnt had the same problem, but I had something similiar.
Try this:
1. Unplug from charger
2. Get battery out
3. Wait a bit, and put battery in
4. Press Volume Down + Power button
or
4. (better solution) Press Power + Volume Up + Volume Down + Camera button
5. Phone will start
6. Just plug it in
It's known as "Chargning bug" when you flash some roms
It's the charging bug due to flashing clockwork recovery-- search the forum there are many similar threads and solutions
Hi,
Thanks for your responses. But that's not what's happening. In fact, i have an old clockworkmod that's never been a problem at all and i never updated it.
I tried your solution, though, but it only allowed my phone about 15 minutes of charging before it died again.
If it charges, it charges just fine while the phone is off.
Hi guys, hope you can help! I have the S3 LTE from EE (stock rom, unmodified)
Two days ago I got a long haul flight back from America to the UK. Once I boarded the plane, I put my phone into Power Saving mode and Airplane mode. 10 hours later, upon arriving in Paris for my connecting flight, I try to unlock my phone screen. I hit the power button and the screen turns on fine, but I couldn't do anything with the touch screen itself, it was just completely unresponsive. The menu button and back buttons work fine since they can close the power menu, and everything else on the phone appears to be working fine (I can connect to kies on my pc, browse files etc.), its just the touch screen itself that doesn't seem to be working. I figured it might've been a loose connector since we hit some really bad turbulence, so I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the screen connector, but no difference.....
I have since backed up all my data and performed a factory reset (thinking it might have been a software issue) but again, the touch screen isn't responsive, but everything else is fine.
Anyone got any ideas what might be the problem? If there's an easy fix I'm willing to try it myself, otherwise I'm just gonna have to go back to EE and hope they can repair/replace it....
If you need more info just let me know!

Yikes, now I highly doubt it's from the turbulence, I did many drop tests with my phone in cases for weeks with no issues.
It's probably what happened to Erica on YouTube, there is a chip in the display that takes care of the touch and stuff, it got fried in her phone when she flashed a wrong kernel, maybe your device was exposed to lots of static energy?
hmm..is there much static onboard planes? I have no idea. Do you have a link to this youtube video, I'd like to see if its the same problem I have, but it looks like I'm going to have to take it in to EE, hope they have no problem with just replacing it....
Dear Forumites,
I have considered all available options in my capacity to attempt to fix my device mentioned above to no success. I will mention all the things I have done below so as to better inform you. But before I do that, let me give you the background of how I got here.
My device fell into water some months ago (while trying to be an hero to resque a drowning little boy, LOL). I guess I should have been more patient but I guess I got carried away by a water test I saw of this device before I bought it done by some of these reviewers and thought, Ok maybe my device too will stand this. I ignorantly put the device into plug and I am guessing I compounded its problem. Initially, I saw the red charging light come on and stayed on while the device was making a kind of sound but after I plug it in power, the device showed some screen flash and then went off. Let me mention that three devices went into the water at the same time but this one was the only one I couldn't remove the battery so the other two are fine now.
Fast forward to few days later, I waited and allowed it to dry out more but when i plugged it into power, the red ligh started to flash without stopping. So this got me searching for solutions to fixing it. I tried:
Downloading all available flash tools
Putting it in EDL mode (I am constantly finding it in 9008 in COM Ports). And when it fails, I tried all the available methods to get it back to that mode again.
I downloaded the fastboot rom and tried to flash it using several flash tools and also various methods.
Then after so much time and effort, I found a thread that says I should just let the battery die itself and then check it later. I left the device for about 2 weeks. Then one day I plugged it in and then it came up charging. I allowed it to charge to 100% then I switched it on. I guess the mistake I made was not leaving it plugged in power while it was booting up again because suddenly it seems the battery power gave out and the device went blank again.
Since then, charging it never again worked. I have left the device for a few months now and still charging it never worked again. I even purchased an extra battery to replace the old one but nothing has worked. I have tried taking the device to a local repair centre where the motherboard was cleaned, heated and still nothing worked.
Till date, when I plug the device into my system, it still recognizes the device but flashing isn't working. I am at the point now where I am considering either getting a new motherboard or just thrashing the device. Been searching online to get a Kate board but it seems that is not available to buy as all i find is the motherboad for Kenzo.
Here is my request, CAN I REPLACE THE KATE BOARD WITH THAT OF KENZO. Some sellers are telling me it will fit inside the panel but it seems they are just saying that to get my money. All the othe parts are working fine along with the extra battery and several tempered glass and cases.
Pls help me with the above so I can decide how to proceed. Thank you in advance. Attached is the image of my motherboard.

Buy new phone instead. Kenzo and kate had no good value. Replacing parts of old phone is of no worth.
Better get rn7 or rn7 pro.
