Apparently my phone has an AB partition scheme (i downloaded an app called treble checker that said supported wich according to https://krispitech.com/support-a-b-partition-slots/ means it's AB scheme), so I'm on "Case II: Devices with A/B partition scheme" of the how-to-install-twrp
Step1 ok
step 2 ok ? it reboot at the bottom left is written FASBOOT mode in very small and it has been like that for several minutes now, I'm unsure if that's what's supposed to happened
I tried step 3 but I got stuck one "waiting for any device" in windows powershell
I'm not clear on what I'm doing wrong.

Where kan I find Dalvik debug monitor to download?
After many unsuccessful attempts (Gingerbreak, other SOC-Versions) someone in a forum from the philippines told me this way and for me it worked perfect!
The secret was to keep the device connected to DDM! Without that SOC freezes...

Install "PDANet" on your PC with generic drivers. After that you should find an "Android ADB Phone" on your PC after plug-in the device.
Where can I find the Dalvik debug monitor?
If you installed the SDK you'll find it ..\Android\android-sdk\tools
Use the ddms.bat

[Q] Acer Iconia B1 A71 Root

Does anyone know how to root the Acer Iconia B1 tablet. Is it too early for a root?
I already tried the bin4ry method but it doesn't work.

Yup same here, tried it didn't work.
Guess we will just have to wait till the device becomes more popular.
Incase anyone is wondering, its a pretty good device for the price. Seems to be running unmodified Jelly Bean and performance is quite snappy.
any update on this?
It would be great if there were someone that would develop a rom for this. I just ordered one
I would appreciate it, if there would soon be a way for root or to install a custom rom!
The bin4ry method doesn't even detect the device without some initial work.
When the device is plugged in, Windows detects the MTP drivers but not the MT65XX drivers which I believe is needed for Android ADB.
You can download the MT65XX drivers from the link below
http://www.mediafire.com/?bqab7ewrdkbaaqi
After installing these drivers the Bin4ry root will detect the device but it will get stuck in one of the steps.
Maybe a newer version of Bin4ry will work or someone can figure out how to get it to work.
No longer need this driver, just read "New Acer Drivers" post below
Instructions for installing MT65XX drivers
1. Download USB drivers for MT65xx
2. Set device on USB debugging mode.
3. Connect to PC using USB 2.0
4. After PC fails to find driver go to device manager ->Find MT65XX device ->Right click ->Update driver ->Browse for driver ->Now there are two ways to install:
1. ''Search for a driver in this location'' ->Browse to the driver location and press next. If this fails try the next method.
2. ''Let me pick from a list....'' ->Select ''let me pick from a list...'' ->Click on "have disk" ->Browse to driver folder and choose 'android_winusb.inf' -> From the list pick 'Android composite ADB interface' and click install.
5. After successful driver installation you should see 'Android composite ADB interface' in device manager.
New Acer Drivers
Acer recently released the ADB drivers for this tablet. So there no need to use the MT65xx drivers anymore.
In one of my tries the bin4ry method actually proceeded to completion but with multiple permission denied errors.
So still no root.
You can download the acer drivers from their website.

How many tries did it take for it to proceed to completion? If it passes to the reboot stage, you should at least have a root shell in "adb shell" after the reboot unless the vulnerability has been patched.
Bad news
Code:
Package com.android.settings is system level with no agent
The bin4ry exploit has been patched. Fastboot and SP Flash tool doesn't seem to work without some kind of authentication. So unless the flashing utilities are leaked from Acer or a new exploit has been identified, we won't be able to root this for the time being.
root and after ? otg ?

Hi every one, I bought ZTE V790 Movistar Motion, (in Venezuela) I've rooted and Install a Vietname Rom, Now my Phone Is (Model Number: V8403 Based version Viettel_V8403B01 Build Number VIETTEL_V8403V1.0.0B09) and it's a stupid Rom, I've tried to install another rom from Russian Site but my phone refuse it!!! I want my Phone Back I Don't want this Vietname Version Pleas HELP
Oh yes!!!
thanks for this tutorial bro.. it worked for me!!
now my phone is rooted!!
you're great dude..
thanks a lot..
BTW.. if i managed to root my phone is there any way i can unlock the SIM slots?
SIM2 is already unlocked but SIM1 slot is still locked.
thanks again dude..
it says adb is out of date...
Some tips:
1) If the device is not recognised in the root tool. Install JoinMe as well, it contains another USB driver.
2) If you are stuck in ZTE logo or "waiting for device", just enable an option in Windows Update to automatically search and install device drivers. Windows will ask this when you select 'Trouble shooting' if installing drivers fails.
3) You may need to install USB drivers in total three times from: ZTE USB driver, JoinMe and Windows Update.
ZTE 790 Root
My ZTE v790 still gets stuck in ZTE Logo.
Android driver still missing after selecting auto update drivers.
I'm using XP and it's online.
I reinstalled both the ZTE Drivers and Join ME.
Any other suggestions?
English version of ROM for v90
Hello
is there any English version ROM for v790? I have bought zte v790, android 2.3.6 and unfortunately there is plenty of useless applications in Chinese, as well as Chinese system communicates and the worst thing is that the browser is very difficult to get Google or any proper websites like facebook for example. I can do root and thank you for the instruction but then i will need to install ROM in english version. Is there any way to get English version for v790?
Thank you!

Found the fix to getting stuck at ZTE Logo!
Hi guys,
Like Furiku, i kept getting stuck at the ZTE Logo when attempting the steps from the OP.
After doing some research, i found another spanish-language guide that included the Moto Helper drivers. Installing the drivers did the trick.
As i am a new user and cannot yet post links, please search for the file indicated below on google, install, and do the steps again. I'm using Windows 8 and there comes a point when it goes beyond the ZTE Logo to a green screen which looks pixelated, and i thought i might have ruined my phone. Gave me a 3-second heart attack. Then the Moto Helper drivers kicked in, and it rebooted, and now the SuperUser icon is there.
Please note that I am making the same disclaimer as the OP: Do this at your own risk. Follow instructions to the letter. We cannot be held responsible for issues that may lead to a damaged/bricked phone.
Google this file and DL: MotoHelper_2.1.32_Driver_5.4.0.exe
No go with Android 4

I've installed all the drivers. On the English words displayed (after being told to press any key & doing so), I get "fastboot error: protocol fault (no status)" & "< waiting for device >" with the phone's display stuck on the ZTE logo. I think that the problem is that my phone uses Android 4 (Jelly Bean) whereas other phones successfully rooted are using Android 2 (Gingerbread). Any ideas?

Cube i6 not found in Manufacturing Flash Tool

Hi
I would really appreciate some help,
I have a Cube i6 dual boot tablet however the Android partition is too small for what I need.
So is there a way that I can increase the Android partition and decrease the Windows partition?
Alternatively I thought I would try and flash the tablet with the Android image using the Manufacturing Flash Tool, thereby removing Windows but when I run the MFT my tablet doesn't show up so I'm not able to flash it.
I've gone through the instructions and installed the iSocUSB driver and the Intel Android Driver on my Win 7 PC..
I've installed the MFT and copied the Custom Config file into the MFT installation directory.
In device manager under Android Phone I can see Intel Android Composite ADB Interface and under Intel Soc I can see Intel Soc USB Driver, is that correct?
In MFT I go to settings and change the settings to:
SOC devices VID: 8087, PID: 0A65;
Android devices VID: 8087,PID: 09EF
I choose the XML file to install but then nothing happens because my tablet doesn't show up in MFT.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
Increasing the Android Partition Size on Cube i6 Dual Boot
I want to second this request. I have not been impressed with Windows, so I need to increase the partition size for Android or eliminate Windows entirely.
Any suggestion?
Update: I used a different PC and was able to see the tablet in MFT and the flash began. It got part way through the process and the tablet restarted but now it's just stuck on a black screen with an EFI Shell prompt, so no closer to installing the Android image.
Wow, i believe Cube Tablet should give the full instruction of the partition for both Android and Windows OS for its customers.
Besides, i'm also concerned whether there will be any update for the Cube i6 Air Dual Boot tablet? I can't find it any where. I'm eagerly in need to update the latest firmware for my Cube i6 tablet.
Hello,
I was able to flash cube many times.
There is actually an update here :
http://www.51cube.com/ch/DownShow.asp?ID=364 - i used google translate to flash it successfully
however it is still android 4.4.4.
Regarding partitioninig, sure you can. You need to update partition.tbl file.
I did it. I tried to flash rom from telcast where they do have android 5. successfully.
But comparing partition tables I found out they are different, MFT did it without yelling.
Also I exchanged several files and used flash file from cube rom mentioned above, to be more specific I exchanged following files (taken from telcast 5 rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61079769&postcount=8387)
boot.img
partition.tbl
recovery.img
system.img
However touch screen is not working, but at least I have got a boot. Thats where I end, I can not fix touchscreen drivers here, I am too dumb for that
I would appreciate if somebody would create a new rom for cube . If somebody is skilled enough, I can provide more detailed information and files I used.
Asking any further help from me is pointless, as I am not an expert and not so deep acknowledged.
Hi, I am in the same situation; received my Cube i6 yesterday. Did you finally succeed in either flashing an Android-only ROM, or changing partion size? How did you manage? Thanks!
Dear all,
same issue for me... keep me updated I will keep on searching

[PX3 & 5] [OTG] - No Headunit Mod, recover or flash a SOM with a simple USB cable - FREE

"Factory" Recovery for MTCx PX3, PX5 and PX6 SOM.
UPDATED" 26.06.2023 - Before doing this, try your Headunit USB cable first - Some headunits support OTG directly on the headunit USB cable.
Come here after using paid Software "Mod" tools like Modinstaller?
This method is the factory method, which can completely recover a "bricked" SOM, recover from failed "modinstaller" or failed upgrade of Paid mods.
Finally - OTG for all without modifying your head-unit. With only basic electronic/soldering skills, get OTG and fearlessly flash or recover a 'bricked' MTCD/E (HCT printed on SOM) Rockchip PX3, PX5 SOM.
See attached pics for making an OTG cable from a USB cable and two resistors.
Resistors are 12K and 15k (22k is probably better) or anyone of the following. combinations. These resistors are necessary as 'voltage dividers', with a value between 1.8v and 3.3 OK. These simply place a logic '1' on recovery and USB-OTG to 'tell' the SOM to go into OTG recovery mode.

Get Windows Driver [Driver assistant - v5.11] and [RKDevTool 2.93] for direct/OTG SOM flashing:
1. From a chinese Firefly site here
or
2. My Google Drive here
[RKDevTool] .ini file is set English, otherwise tool will be rendered in Chinese.
This tool for dumping / getting full backup of SOM
Excellent tool, thanks @RedScorpioXDA
Note - all tools and driver have equivalent Linux versions.
26.06.2023 - Android Tool is now RkDevTool
PX5 Android 9 Update.img - suitable for flashing via rockchip tools - https://yadi.sk/d/umCvHqCDzHccr/RockChip PX5 Android 9/YB
The image is located in px5 android 9/yb. The file has "_img_" listed in the filename.
Note Android 10 has an img file too - located in px5 android 10/chs.
PX5 Android 8 Oreo full Partition extract suitable for recovering SOM, flashing via rockchip tools - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1P703unZDA_TdRzl6fjkkb-YUB-KpTViW
Using the RockChip RKDevTool:
For OREO: Unzip and flash all partitions in the ZIP file [px5_OREO_Full_13032018-UseToRecoverOrCreateNew.7zip here
For Android 6, flash the latest update.img file in RKDevTool
There are guides to partition flashing found on the internet, would be great if anyone could contribute by posting step-by-step instructions or a video to assist others (there are now posts in this thread...)
A generic guide to the RockChip RKDevTool, flashing partitions or image files is here as previously posted.
Credit (thanks!) to @scorillo_ro for the detailed image/connections diagram.
Worst case - SOM doesn't respond - force 'maskrom' detailed here explaining what MaskRom is and here on how to for your PX5 (px3 is similar.) Steps are: Power Off SOM and disconnect USB to PC. Use Tweezers, apply power/connect USB. Hold until Windows Device chime is heard (within about 2 seconds of power on.) See attached pic.
Warning : Use thin pins for OTG cable in order to avoid the damage of the SOM connectors, although along the thread it has been noted many times that damage to the SOM socket is very likely to happen if thick pins are used...OR buy SOM header from Aliexpress, digikey etc.[/COLOR]
17/11/2019 - Edit: Corrected URL for Windows and Linux Rockchip tools
04/04/2020 - link to px5 android 9 full update.img
20.06.23 - Update broken links to driver and tool. Update Name of tool (was) Android Tool - (now) RKDevTool
Nice work @marchnz !
A full step by step and pictures howto should be made now and all those PX5 users without sdcard slots will be able to use this method to get Android8!
LE. I drew a schema

Absolutely! I've done it a bunch of times. You can either use the sdupdate.img from the Oreo upgrade thread to load the Oreo recovery and then install the oreo .zip from recovery OR a full set of partition images.
I have a full set of partition images if needed, they're about 25gb but should compress right down (that 25gb includes [user] partition which is an empty partition.
Good... I'll try... But the process Need a PC no? Becouse with the unit with SD card slot needs PC only to prepare the sd card for android 8 recovery

Yes, PC. I've updated the post to include links to tools and driver. Driver 4.5 & Android tool works on Win7 - Win 10, x86 and x64.
For those without SDCard wanting to upgrade to Oreo:
You could try OTG flashing the Oreo sdupdate.img, fit SOM back to headunit and then try loading the Full Oreo update.zip from USB. Otherwise I will need to upload the full Oreo partitons dump with instructions....over the next few days....

It is my understanding that I can flash the SOM without the rest of the board?
So just disconnect the SOM then hook up the USB as per the diagram and it will be detected by windows. Use android tool / RockChip Batch Tool with a android 6/8 recovery.
The issue I have is that the nand doesn't look like its recognised after an attempt to flash oreo. Please see attached picture.

You mentioned a full partition dump. I'm hoping I don't need this. I remember reading that the partition structure needed to be changed for android 8. Do you have any idea how to do this via the tools? I remember reading about something called a storagemap that rockchip uses.

Wait for @marchnz to put this information here. Meanwhile you can start building your USB JIG.
Will try this, just have to buy resistord.
One question... How to download from Github?
Regards
Edit: Found it

Move one level up to https://github.com/rockchip-linux/rkbin then use the green "Clone or download" button, then select "Download ZIP"
Finally I hear the Windows connecting sound. But my Device is still not detected. It says "usb device not recognized". I thaught it would be the driver but I installed the v4.5 Driver. Any Ideas?
Maybe you need to switch green and white usb data wires...

Strange. I only used Windows 7.
You can also try using a powered usb switch. Maybe the USB ports you used does not provide sufficient power? This is just an assumption.
Or, as @marchnz said, you can try enter maskrom mode.

Did you try to upload a firmware image from maskrom mode? The other mode, not working for you, is called loader mode and is provided by software that might be corrupted.
